• There lived a young man, all by his lonesome. He rarely had anyone visit, and even though he had much fun when he did have those visits, those happy moments often left him quickly after.

Now, it wasn't that he was really sad all that often. Or even that he was bored....

He just fell back into his old routine whenever he wasn't with his friends. His same old routine...Most of his time was taken up by the upkeep of house and home, but in his spare time to himself, he often played little games, just alone...almost always alone...

Then, one day, a cat happened to wander by. This cat was a special cat, that you could tell right away! For it was barely just above a kitten, and was a bit lighter a shade of purple. And for the life of it, it never purred or meowed.

Now, as if this wasn't odd enough, it also almost spurned all attention it got.

The young man was quite suprised by this. It was like the cat was punishing itself for something! Which, as you all know, is not something cats typically do.

The young man still wanted to help the cat, so, every time he'd have spare time, instead of play those old games of his, he'd talk to the cat, comfort it. Every once in a while, it would react, to his suprise, affectionate, and purr just the tiniest, smallest little bit...

Eventually, as the years wore on, the cat got more and more affectionate, and the man came to be that way too. Everytime he'd have friends over now, he'd let them see this wonderful cat, but usually, it was sleeping so it didn't get the chance to meet these people.

And usually, the people that visited would say, "What a pretty cat!" or "Oh, it's got such a nice color of coat to it!"

And, even as the years went on, and this continued, the young man grew very attached to this cat.

    And it to him.

Now, this may seem strange to you...But the man grew to feel as if the cat was a genuine person. More and more, he stopped noticing a young cat that was living with him, and more of a girl, a girl that was in the midst of womanhood.

No one else seemed to notice. To them, it was just the same old cat, over and over again. He was determined to find out, though.

So, one night, he asked the cat, "Can you reveal yourself to me? Because it is only in the corner of my eye that you seem a person to me."

And there, before his very eyes, the cat became a young woman.

He gasped, and then the young woman spoke, "I've always been here...waiting for you to realize..."

And as she spoke, she started to cry, not tears of sadness, oh no! But tears...of happiness.

Because he was one of the few that she'd ever met who'd really noticed her! And he was the only man who'd ever noticed her, not as a cat....but as a young woman.

And as she stood up, he noticed that her blonde hair was long, and her skin pale...and that she was wearing the thinnest purple dress. And so beautiful! He wondered if he'd seen any woman so wonderful in his life!

She came over to him, and to his delight, she kissed him. It felt like it was his first...

Even though he'd had other kisses, none of them felt like this one. All of them combined couldn't have held a light to this one.

Her lips were soft, and her kiss tender, but passionate. As she pulled away to look him in the eyes, he kept his eyes closed...holding onto the moment.

And from then on, everyone else saw a woman. They asked him, "Where did this woman come from? And your cat...where did your cat go?"

And he'd just simply answer, "She was here all along. And that cat...has moved on. It's probably happier now, anyways."
