ゆうこ is the name (well, in this sentence, anyways), so it doesn't mean anything.

If you are writing a name in Japanese, it should be written in Katakana, not Hiragana.
 
     
 
it is written in Kanji or hiragana if native Japaneses, katakana is for foreign words and foreign names.
     
Actually, it's partly up to the person whom the name belongs or the situation. In general, names that are written out in kana tend to be in hiragana, though most official documents that request kana ask it to be written in katakana.
