If you want to think about it honestly all the game developers have made some big impacts. Without Nintendo being a big rival to Sega we wouldn't have gotten some of the games we had. For example the Street Fighter series, the Mortal Combat series, and the Phantasy Star series. But to get the point as to what system was best i have to stick the old school (because I'm 23) and say Nintendo is the best all around. Microsoft is my 2nd choice for consoles and i choose Nintendo as my first because i remember playing duck hunt way back when i was 3yrs old. As far as hand helds go that's a tie up between the PSP and the DSi,the reason i say this is because if you look at the two it's like apples and oranges. Yes both have a web browser and can view photo's and listen to mp3 files but the DSi has a faster web browser, built in camera, Photo editing software built into the OS of the system amongst a few other things. But i have heard that Sega is working with a 3rd party developer to maybe make a comeback so I'm silently waiting and hopeing.
What you speak is true.. Those who love Playstation, owe debut to Nintendo because it was supposed to be the N64 till Nintendo screwed Sony over and went with Toshiba to make their CD Drives. We owe Sega Dreamcast for Online gaming, they were the first to do it. Alot of the old systems we never think of effect today.
