Two threads in one day? Oh gosh. Hope this isn't spam. :]

I guess it's pretty obvious by my excessive posting, then, that I am absolutely sick of my style, or lack thereof. Since I don't even really have anything, seriously; I have maybe six tee shirts and two pairs of jeans. I'm one of those slightly androgynous loose-jeans-and-tee-shirts kind of girls, and it's boring. I like to stand out, which is why I am going to dye my hair purple again when I can find some Special Effects Deep Purple.

I need help. Jeans and tee shirts are good, but not all the time, especially since sometimes when my hair is back and my face un-painted, you can hardly tell that I'm female. (I'm not the most well-endowed and am basically twiggy. Whatevs.) I like thrift stores, scarves, outrageously-coloured hair, and punk or gothic fashion, but I also like looking vaguely professional, if that makes any sense. I am quite thin, so it is practically impossible to find anything in my size, since nobody seems to carry less than a 2 when I go shopping and sometimes even a 0 is too big around the waist, and 1s fall down around my bum. Accessories are basically unheard-of in my wardrobe besides the occasional necklace and my triple-row pyramid stud cuff that I bought at Hot Topic approximately twelve million years ago.

On a typical day (girl): http://photos-035.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sf2p/v250/157/98/1351680035/n1351680035_30013879_245.jpg

I'm a strict vegetarian (vegan + dairy, to be honest) and very picky about my clothing. Skinny jeans are yucky and I hate following fads. I do not and can not do colour -- I get armpit stains like you would not believe no matter how much deodorant I wear. Also, my family is mostly poor, so my "style" can't really be expensive unless it's marked down. Can anybody offer me any advice whatsoever?

Thanks. :]

So you want to look professional and hippie-ish I gather?

I think you should go to a thrift store. It's your best bet for cheap, vintage, unique clothes. You could also go for loose fitting peasant tops paired with a vest. That's always a good bet.

I don't feel like I'm helping all that much. xd

No, you tried! I'm just...vague and bad at explaining. I don't want to look hippie-ish besides the peasant skirts and flip-flops. I'm more into the punk/goth type of thing, but I have crappy taste.

Ah-hah. What kind of goth/punk look do you think you like?
I'm currently trying to switch my look to fancy/Victorian goth with lots of lace and frills and black + skinny jeans and vests. sweatdrop

this isn't goth or punk, but it's kind of a hippy print

As I've mentioned, I really like funky-colour hair and I'm growing fond of chokers, purple gems, bell sleeves and cloaks -- but I also like band shirts and studs and some of the older styles of Tripp pants (not the crap they sell at Hot Topic now). Thus the problem is that I don't know what I like in particular, just that I see pictures of the London Underground from 1970/80 and think to myself "wow, that looks pretty rad." Minus tight pants, because I hate my thighs and I don't think that I have ever found a pair that fit me properly. Does that make any more sense? Probably not, sorry. sweatdrop

Edge of Urge:
Those are actually really nice! I am not typically a dress person and $82 is slightly above my range, but I like 'em all the same.

Dude seriously, when Kohl's has their sales...it is awesome.
They have really cute brands, like Apt. 9, Daisy Fuentes, and who can forget, Vera Wang.

I find myself going throught their racks for hours, just looking at all the cute stuff.

It's normally quite cheap, but when they have their 40% off sales and such...BOOYAH!

Keep your eyes peeled. mrgreen

Got it. You could get things that the 1970s/80s underground thingy have. You could make your clothes too.

Bah, Tripp pants nowadays are disgusting. And clich, I tell you. xp

Kohl's? Huh, maybe. I am not sure if there is one locally, but my friend once found this adorable Kermit the Frog shirt there. ^_^ Thanks for the tip!

Am I sensing sarcasm? It's so hard to tell on the interwebz. I know that this makes me sound like a complete nooblet here, but the main reason why I don't dress the way I want to is because of an absurd ineptitude with creating clothing (we don't even have a sewing machine) and I am uncertain where to find anything modeled after that sort of fashion in the meantime as I learn how not to arse things up, y'know? I am impatient, my current clothing frustrates me. Blaaaaah.

Yeah, I used to wear Tripp pants until they started being associated with drug addicts and teenybopper scene kids. They were awesome until about 2003.

Bump? I know where to buy -- just not what to buy or do.

I really love the punk fashion, but am too scared to convert fully with my clothing style and what not.
I tend to spice a lot of my plain clothing with accessories though. Fingerless gloves, stockings, and suspenders [usually worn down]. I am also trying to find a style for me at the time also and here is what I'm doing:
Just go internet clothing store crazy. I'm not saying buy. Just look at it all, every fashion even if at first you are repulsed by it. Save the pictures of the pieces you like all into one folder. [trust me, by the time this is over, you will have a ridiculous blend of things] Then just look into that folder and try to mix and match all the styles and pieces, layering or just keeping it simple. I would like to give advice on how to make you seem less 'twiggy' but I'm not that great at picking clothes that flatter what I have and then add some, you know?

Good luck and best wishes.

The accessories sound like a good idea. (Personally, I'm fond of outlandishly-coloured socks to make up for my excessively black wardrobe.) Thanks for the advice, now I need to figure out how and where to start, haha. I'll get there eventually.

hm ok well i didnt really read that, BUT i did look at the pic, and i think i saw the word 'proffesionel' and you said you where thing sooo im thinking PENCIL SKIRTS.

if you're thinking pencil skirts are for curves. nope, they make thin figure look curvy.

obvs your not going to wear skirts everyday but i was thinking more if your going out for dinner/lunch or a job interview etcetc. anyways heres what i mean:

and as for jeans and tee's well that works but if you're bored add jewlery and such like this: (er i didnt make this its from google)

minus the skinnys, well those are more bootcut really. and you could do that with converse or doc's or something instead of heels.

also you have really pretty eyes and facial structure but those glasses dont do much for yah :] thats just my opinion though.

ummhh sorry but scene kids wouldnt be caught dead in tripp pants... they wear tight clothing remember? ravers and goths are more likely the type to wear those pants.

but on topic, i think skinny jeans would look good on you. they dont have to be a** numbingly tight. just a nice pair of straight legged pants would probably do great things for you.

as for wearing your hair back, let some pieces of hair fall into your face maybe cut some bangs for an elegant side sweep (and im not talking about the scene kid /'emo' side swept bang.) a messy bun or ponytail is an easy hair do, but still shows a feminine side. dye ur hair purple if u want, but u have beautiful color, and some subtle high lights or low lights would give it dimension

surprisingly, less makeup is very feminine. maybe a tiny bit of cream blush and cream colored eye shadow with a swipe of mascara. you have very nice facial features, an amazing bone structure, and a little accentuation will do wonders for you.

as for your armpit stains, try secret prescription strength, u put it on at night before u go to bed. i wore it for my march bday in san diego and was dry as a bone =)

who says jeans and t shirts cant be attractive? some times being the downplayed one is more attractive.

i hope i helped, gave u something u could use. umm, even tho u dont like trends, u could try magazines, and adapt things u like to suit yourself.

*i love makeup and hair, and if u have any questions about it or anything i said, feel free to pm me. just because i look this way doesnt mean that its all i know*

Believe me, I am not fond of the glasses; unfortunately, they are pretty necessary considering that they don't make bifocal contact lenses. I'm looking into it, though. :] Thanks for the compliment!
I like those outfits, for the most part. Not so fond of the first one, but the skirt looks nice, and the second one isn't really me in general but it gives a good idea of how to accessorise properly when I want to look less "hi, look at my purple hair and combat boots" and more "hi, I have purple hair but I am incredibly intelligent so don't just write me off, please." Good ideas, I think I am beginning to figure out how to look for things, mayhap.

By "scene kids" in that statement I didn't mean today's scenesters but the scenesters from when goth was the "in" thing. That wasn't clear, sorry.
I actually own a pair of skinny jeans, and they are a size up around the waist but still, as you put it, "a**-numbingly tight" and as such, they look kind of awkward on me (whether or not that's from my being used to looser pants or not is up to debate).
Purple hair is pretty much something that I am set on at the moment, but when I let my natural colour grow back in, subtle lowlights will be an idea. Can't stay freak-coloured forever, right? Thanks for the cut idea, as well; I had been debating on side-swept bangs but not emo bangs, so you basically just ascertained the idea. The makeup tips are good, too, once I decide to learn how to actually do makeup properly.
Great tips! Muchly appreciated.
