Heading up to the ladder, Carpo hesitated for a moment before ascending into the snowy ground above. He couldn't see any people as of yet, nor could he see any footprints on the freshly fallen snow, but he could hear voices nearby, unfamiliar voices gruff sort of sound to their tone. They sounded like they were barking orders or something.. but he couldn't make out what exactly they were saying.... And so he strained his ears and scanned the horizon, only to be snapped back into focus by Rene, who nudged him a little bit after they had all gotten to the surface. The blond man was pale, shaking a bit too. Frowning some at that, he opened his lips to say something to cheer him up, only to close it immediately after.... It would be best for all of them if he looked this scared..... Make the whole thing more believable.
So, he just went on, bit his tongue and pretended as though Alpha was leading them along. And then suddenly.
"Halt! Who goes there?"
Carpo froze in place as he saw three armed individuals approach them. Those guns looked so much more frightening in this light....

Carpo was easily in their line of fire, perhaps they couldn't quite see him, but they were aiming their guns in his general direction. Pan wanted nothing more than to hold and cover Carpo, but understanding that moves like that would only get his friends killed, he managed to calm down and stay focused. Carpo's reassuring words from before helped too...
The helmet's voice com disguised and sounded similar to the other soldiers. Pan sounded like one of them. He stepped forward and was the first one to burst out of the tree.
"Status Report, sir." called Pan. "I managed to discover a hidden underground tunnel.. and that's not all. " Alpha was a little surprised that Pan would actually reveal the tunnel. He too climbed up the ladder quietly after Rene. Alpha wasn't expecting this good of a performance.
"Step out here." Pan demanded Carpo. He aimed the gun at the red head and hated doing it, but was thankful that at least the safety was on. If anyone was touching Pan, they could probably feel that he was shaking tremendously, but he hoped it wasn't too noticeable.
" All of you.." he added, begging to anyone that he was convincing the three guards...

The men turned their guns to Pan, pointing them at him until they could more clearly see who it was. Lowering their weapons, they listened quietly as he reported his findings and watched as three individuals came up from out of the tree. The sight of Carpo and them didn't seem to trigger anything, even though Carpo's shock of red hair should have given away their identity. Maybe they hadn't actually been looking for the four of them?
Standing still as a board, Carpo kept his hands raised over his head as one of the three soldiers neared forward and light nudged him in the side with the butt of his gun. "Interesting... Think they're from across the border," the man asked back to one of the other soldiers, who shrugged.
"Could be. We've been getting more and more of those as of late," she responded before looking over to Pan," either way, good work soldier. Now let's get back to the truck before we all freeze to death, hm?"
The two soldiers nodded and moved over to Rene and Alpha, moving behind them and nudging them forward with their guns. Seemed as though they wanted one guard per person and Pan was Carpo's.

Alpha remained quiet... in fact, he had to bite his tongue a bit in order not to act upon reflex. Usually, in another situation Alpha wouldn't have hesitated to take out the guards.. just these two would be seen as a blessing. Alpha had been able to take out more than this, just by himself! But this... something didn't seem right.
To Pan, everything was going wrong! He seemed to have lost his voice at their simple approval. Not only that, their army suits were slightly different... not by much, but how is it that Pan matched them?? Wasn't this suit from San Espoir? This didn't make any sense. If he didn't take a deep breath just a moment ago, his legs would have given out. He was so scared. This wasn't right! They were supposed to congratulate him on finding the prisoners, beat up Carpo, threaten to kill them on the spot, ANYTHING!... but this... Border?
Should he risk a question? No right? He should just follow these three soldiers.. It would be best, right? Oh God, he can't even ask for help from Alpha, Rene, or Carpo! This was killing him! So many new questions were forming in his head but they were never going to be answered at this point in time. Just.. how is it that they don't recognize Carpo?
....Border?

The four of them were led to the truck in silence, a sort of serious calm having come over them as they pushed them through the snow and into the back of a hooded truck. Pointing their guns as the three non suited rebels were locked up, they proceeded to shut the back door before motioning for Pan to follow them to the front. The boss slid into the passenger and one of the men behind the wheel, which left Pan to sit in the back seat with one of the others.
It wasn't until the car started that one of them finally spoke up, sliding their helmet off as they did so. It was a young man with dark hair and light eyes. "So... We already know you aren't Kravos based on the build and you sure as hell aren't Roberts.... What with what happened to him....," he said as he looked Pan over, crinkling his nose some as he looked at him," so who in the heck are you?"
That was odd language for a resident of his home country, so loose and relaxed. And there was so much emotion behind it as well..
"You can take off your helmet. We promise we won't shoot you on the spot," the boss said, taking her own off as she did. "They don't notify us about a lot of stuff way out here, so we probably won't even know who you are."

What?
Kravos?
These soldiers knew Kravos? His heart stopped.
Carpo? Carpo what do I do? Pan begged with all of his might to pray for Carpo to somehow send a sign. But of course, no such sign could really be given. This seat was the worst spot in this whole truck. No escape, no air, and being in the corner really felt like... Well.. Being cornered.
But his helmet. This other man just took his off helmet.. But Sans Espoir soldiers never took off their helmets! Many truly believed that the helmets are attached and can't be removed. Pan was so nervous he didn't even realize he was crying. What if this was a trick?! And the man's face and the driver's calm voice was just supposed to be an ellaborate ruse?! Even if they did know Kravos, what if Kravos was the double agent?? Pan just doesn't know what to believe.
But if he refused to reveal himself, then these people could grow suspicious and take it out on Carpo and the others. Alpha, in the back of the truck, was trying his best to see the rabbit man but to no avail.
"What do you think is going on? These aren't normal soldiers..." Alpha whispered to the two.
Pan had set his gun down. Terrified, he slowly began to adjust the strappings on his neck in order to remove the helmet. He prayed he was making the right decision. At first he contemplated about showing them the identification hologram, but wouldn't that seem weak? Especially If they already knew of Shen's death. Timidly... He slipped the helmet off to reveal his Albino hair and face. Though the tears had stopped, it may have as well still have seemed that way. Pan didn't want to reveal his name, or too much... But.. Would it help? Perhaps a different question as Pan's eyes stayed torwards the ground.
"W.... Where are we going?" He asked determinedly with a slight quiver in his voice

All the soldiers eyes were on Pan as they waited for him to remove his helmet, a bit of anticipation clear on their features. They didn't look nervous or mad really, just curious.... And that was.... that was weird. Most people in their society always hid their emotions, as they were always under constant surveillance. If he dared look around though, he'd see that not only were they all emotive, but also that there seemed to be no surveillance devices anywhere in the truck...
Meanwhile in the back, Carpo was loosening his bindings, so as to help regain circulation in his fingers and be ready to attack if necessary. He was nervous for Pan, but it didn't show. He was trying to stay focused on the situation so he could come up with plans on the fly. Of course.... all that focus disappeared in an instant the moment Alpha spoke....
"I.. I honestly hadn't thought about that.....," Carpo admitted as he looked to Rene, who mostly just seemed confused and nervous. "You're right though..... Maybe they don't know who we are yet? Some soldiers out here have delayed messages especially during the winter."
Rene shook his head at this and continued nervously fidgiting with his cuffs. "N-No.. even then... they should've been more suspicious.... I mean... even without the memo.. they would've known it was weird for people to be this far away from town....."
One of the soldiers glanced to the back as he heard muttering, but his attention was soon regained by Pan, who had carefully slid his helmet off. He stared for a moment, as if thinking, only to smile brightly as he came to a realization. "Pan? The doctor right?"
"You can't just assume that because he's albino, he is the only albino you've ever heard of Zed... I feel like that has to be racist or something..."
"Nah it's him... He looks just like Shen described him. 'Sides it'd make sense that he's out here.. what with him being on the run and all," Zed said with a grin before offering a hand out to him," it's nice to finally meet you I'm Zed Evers... That's Orion Marks and Leo Trent. We used to know Shen... He worked with us here on border patrol a lot.....You know before his accident...."
"You know, you really shouldn't be so chummy with him Zed... The government said he was the one who killed Shen.... And him running away doesn't really help his case much..." the woman driving said, only for Zed to frown.
"Aw Come on Leo, don't tell me you believe in that horsecrap.... If ten years on border patrol have taught us anything, it's that the government lies.... kind of a lot. Shen never had anything but nice things to say about 'im. Besides, look at that face... Looks like he couldn't even hurt a fly, much less murder his best friend."

Alpha could only breath and pray that Pan wouldn't ******** things up... Of course maybe not so harshly. He knew Pan wanted what was best for them, didn't want anyone to get hurt.... Well he at least knew that Pan wanted what was best for Carpo. Just, not knowing was killing him. He looked at both Rene and Carpo, "... are you two okay at least? Neither of you are hurting are you?" he asked, trying to distract his troubled mind.
No. Not his name. This suit was beginning to feel gross again. But they knew him... Border patrol? Pan was floored. Not only did they know his dead friend, but they even knew the Doctor's name... Where to begin.
" Y-... You have two names?" Pan asked. Maybe this was some kind of entitlement for being soldiers? "The Mother from home only gives us one name... Did you earn them? " He wanted to ask if Shen had another name too, but asking anything about him made Pan want to puke... but this seemed like his only opportunity to find out more. The other boys in the back would still probably have the issue to know whether or not these patrol officers were dangerous. But Pan didn't feel like they were a threat.. had they been, surely they would have killed Pan by now.. or at the very least restrained him.
"This can't be right, though. Sh.. " it was hard to say his name with out scary imagery flashing, a lot of blood and tears. Pan breathed and tried to focus on the question, "Shen wasn't a soldier... he never wore a uniform or held a gun back home..how can you know him-.." he was asking when Leo interjected. Ah, that's right. Even the details of that incident still seemed so fuzzy, along with what details Pan tried to forget. So if Pan hardly remembered what happened, how could these guys really know what were truth and lies? The truth was that Pan never killed Shen...but..
"I didn't kill him. Though, I... I guess it really seems that way huh?... In a sense, Mr. Evers, Shen would probably still be alive if I didn't exist... His death might really be.. all my..fault." The tears seemed to have come out on their own. He couldn't really look at any of these strangers in the eye as his voice quivered, the tears not stopping.
This suit felt even worse now. Like it was trying to choke Pan. Choke him out of existence, to suffocate the life out of him. If this suit could kill him, Pan almost wished it would, because if Shen didn't get to live, then neither should he. The conflicting emotions ripped at his heart. His resurfacing memories of the last moments with his best friend, the thought that he may have never known the real Shen, and the wonder if Pan hadn't done anything that day... then maybe Shen might still be alive.
"... I'm sorry..." Pan's cheeks were red at the embarrassing display he must be showing to these people who probably weren't expecting this. Trying to stop himself from making a bigger cry baby of himself, he kept trying to remember Carpo. If none of this happened, he never would have met Carpo. Looking down, Pan tried hard to stop his flowing tears. Deep breaths seemed to work, for the time being.

"No... I'm not in pain. A little cold.. but you know.. normal...," Carpo muttered as he tried to listen in on the conversation within the cab of the truck. If he pressed his ear to the metal... he could catch bits and pieces, but not enough for it to make sense. Mostly just mutters and such..... He hoped Pan was okay...
Meanwhile, Rene simply shook his head in response and triec to peeked through the crack in the door he sat beside.... hoping to get some idea of where they were going... "Alpha... do you think they are taking us to the prison again," the man whispered softly before turning to look at him...
Up front in the truck, the three listened to Pan ask about their names, only finally speaking up after he'd finished his non-murder explanation.... "Yeah.. well, we aren't from around here. We are from the neighboring country.... Our country has us come here and work with your government to make sure that anybody accidentally crossing the border from our country to yours gets put back home instead of in your prison system... Shen was part of the program so your country could make sure we weren't pulling any funny business like helping convicts cross the border and such," Zed said, as he leaned back in his seat," he was pretty bad at his job though.... always looked the other way when we did."
"Anyways, don't be sorry... crying is normal where we're from."

"Nah Nah. Kravos is with the rebellion and he's from here. And Shen was from here too, but we're all of the same mindset," Orion explained from the passenger seat, looking at the snowy blizzard that had a path somewhere beneath it," none of us really like your sad excuse for a government. Kravos is just a bit more pro-active about it, while we just mostly make an effort to make sure our countrymen don't get stuck here."
He opened his mouth to continue to explain, figuring that wouldn't be good enough, but before he could spit out another word, Pan had started to plead with them. He was caught off guard for a moment by his words. Looking over to Leo for guidance, he found her smiling and shaking her head.
"Two times.... that's impressive. I hear its real hard to get out of there. Anyways, we won't take you there. We are just taking you to our base, until the snow lets up, then you can decide where to go from there. Heck, we could even ferry you over the border if you'd like.... set yo up some place there..... But we won't put you in prison. The only time we followed that rule was when Shen was around... But they murdered him... so now we don't have to...."
