BogardAndy In that other problem, you used the wrong sign. You put (5 x 7 - 8 -1), which is 35 - 7, not 35 -9. I think you meant to put (5 x 7 - 8 +1) x 11. 35- 9 = 26 x 11 = 286. Okay, now for my roll. So far, we have 88/192 at best. we need a 6. So far, I have 11 x 8 + 98 = 186
The thing is, you take away the 8, then you take away the 1. So the calculator will do 35 - 8 (27) - 1, which is 26. When doing identical signs, you don't put them together first, you do them in the order they "arrive." Of course, if I'd WANTED 28, I could have used parenthesis to get your result: 5x7 - (8 - 1). So fun!
-o0DNA0o- Actually, I just used my calculator and entered: 5 x 7 - 8 -1 and the result was 26. 5 x 7 (35) - 8 (27) - 1 = 26 So, technically the 5 x 7 and - 8 - 1 were "done" at the same time.
