"How can you accept this?" asked Izzy.
"Accept what?" inquired Mary Anne, looking up from the maps she was looking over. "Accept that Edward and I are no longer together? Accept that he's moved on? Or accept that the person he has moved on with happens to be the Gentleman Pirate?"
Izzy didn't say anything in response but his uncomfortable shifting in position told her everything. Mary Anne placed the quill down and walked around the table to stand in front of him.
"I've moved on, Z," she said. "I knew we weren't meant to be when we went our separate ways. You should learn to do the same. And don't act like it's not true. We all know it's true. We've all seen it. Well... everyone except the man in question."
"You make it sound so easy," mumbled Izzy.
"You've already taken the steps in the right direction," said Mary Anne, raising a hand to gentle caress his cheek. "Just keep going. Stop trying to hold onto the fraying ropes."

"I must say this is quite delicious meat, Dr. Lecter," said the gentleman. "I must know where you got it?"
"It's Richard Smith."
Several of the other guests coughed in shock as they realized what their host had just confessed. Some of them didn't even bother being discreet as they spit out the remaining bites in their mouths into their napkins and then tried to washing the thought of what they had been eating down with the last of their wine. She, on the other hand, simply lowered her fork letting it hover in the air as she sat staring at the plate and listening as the conversation continued around her.
"You mean you got it from Richard Smith?" asked the gentleman, missing the cue like the others.
"In a sense," replied Dr. Lecter, an amused smile appearing on his face.
The gentleman blinked at his host for a moment before noticing the horror on his fellow companions' faces. His fork slipped from his hand and his wine glass tipped over as he quickly pushed away from the table. The others took this as a sign to begin getting up and leaving themselves.
"Wha-What have you done?" exclaimed the gentleman.
"I simply prepared an elegant dinner for you," replied Dr. Lecter, standing up calmly as he set his napkin next to his plate. "I wanted to serve nothing but the best for my honored guests."
"And you thought... you thought serving this... this was adequate for respectable company?"
Dr. Lecter simply watched the man curiously in response.
"I am sorry to say, Dr. Lecter, that this will be the one and only dinner I will be having with you. I am quite offended by... by what's transpired here," said the gentleman, pulling on the bottom of his vest as if trying to regain his composure. "You need not worry about any of us revealing what's happened here to anyone else. We will continue as if it never happened. Except there will no longer be any form of acquaintance between any of us and you. Is that understood?"
"Quite."
"Good day, sir," spat the gentleman, before rushing out and slamming the door behind him.
Dr. Lecter stood watching the closed door for a moment and saw Will return with the newly opened wine bottle he had gone to get before the transpired event.
"Did... Did our guests leave?" asked Will, confused.
"Something came up," replied Dr. Lecter, before he blinked as he realized something out of the corner of his eye. He turned to look at the solo woman still sitting at the table, frozen in the same position.
Will looked at him quizzically before following his gaze, "Not all of our guests apparently."
"So, it seems," said Dr. Lecter, walking over so he could see her from the front.
"Richard Smith..." she breathed, finally grasping her way back to the present. "Who... who was he?"
"A corrupt man. He was only able to get away with what he did because he had money. Money to pay off victims and to buy connections from those higher up. His fate was a long time coming."
"And you did the... slaughtering?" she asked, tilting her head slightly, so she could see him from the corner of her eye.
"Yes."
"I see." She sat there for a moment before she relaxed slightly, raising her fork up to her mouth again. Just before she placed it in her mouth, she said, "Well, then, I suppose we should waste such an excellent meal. Especially after all of the trouble you went through to prepare."
Dr. Lecter and Will shared a confused glance before walking to return to their respective locations.
"So," said Dr. Lecter, placing his napkin back into his lap and grabbing his wine glass. "How did you get mixed in with that lot?"
"A friend of a friend," she replied. "Though I suppose they're more of an acquaintance. I was recommended to visit their office on a matter and when they talked about dinner plans, they offered to bring me. It wasn't exactly an offer per se."
"More wine?" asked Will.
"No, thank you. I'm good for now," she replied.
"I do hope the meal is to your liking even with... the secret recipe being revealed," said Dr. Lecter.
She looked across the table at him. "Don't think that me continuing to eat as an indication that this is the sort of... diet... I would want to take up. I am only being respectful to you as the host for taking an unplanned guest in and taking the time to prepare such an elaborate meal. Plus like that guy said - what happened tonight will stay here." She smirked as she grabbed her wine glass and raised it. "To Richard Smith."
Dr. Lecter smirked as he raised his own. "To Richard Smith."

I can't believe I'll actually be going to Disneyland later this year. It still doesn't seem real. My friend(s) and I have talked about it for so many years, so it still doesn't seem like it's actually happening.
