Pan let out a brief sigh of relief. Knowing that they weren't going back to Sans Espoir lifted a heavy weight off his heart.
Alpha shivered as the trucked trudged through the heavy snowfall. "Geez, you wouldn't think people would be crazy enough to drive in a storm like this. But here we are...Carpo, Rene. We need to strategize a plan. These guys may be a part of some border patrol, from where, I don't know yet. But they would've killed us by now had they been from Sans..." he worded out loud.
"Let's just assume right now that, perhaps, these guys were willing to help us. If we needed a computer for a hack job, how are we to convince them? I think we may have to use the creature... what was it's name... TR? If we could use him, we could show these guys what they could be up against if our homeland really has created an army of super -animal- soldiers."
Alpha's eyes were focused hard on both the red head and the Frenchman. Alpha could already figure that Carpo and Rene would both have their protests, but how else was this to work?
In the front, Pan rubbed his eye a bit once more, just to make sure he didn't look like he was crying again. "So.. If Kravos and Shen were both from home.... Where are you guys from?" he asked, giving curious little smiles between all three soldiers.

Carpo was still pressing his ear against the metal between him and Pan when Alpha started talking. He was trying to hear something.... anything.... but the storm was getting worse and all he could hear was wind and Alpha's voice. Closing his eyes, he tried to calm down his fears and focus on Alpha's words, but it was hard.... He was too worried for logic right now.. Which made what Alpha said next seem all the more drastic to him....
Whipping his head in Alpha's direction, he glared at him and shook his head. "No Alpha. Last time that happened, we almost didn't get Pan back. I'm not risking Pan's safety just so we can get permission to use some computer... I'd rather just do it without them knowing," he said with a frown, obviously upset by the idea.
Rene seemed to agree, as he too was frowning at Alpha, though his answer was much less vehement. " L-Last time.... he went on a murderous rampage... He might not hurt us.... b-but he could kill these people and if he did that..... it could be bad... Maybe if we just pretend we are doing something else..?"

"The country on your eastern border.. It's called Laniakea. It's a pretty nice place... Lots of rules and stuff.. but not nearly many as you all have here," Zed said from beside him," we also have a lot more languages and diversity and such, whuch makes things a bit messier but also a hell of a lot more interesting" |

"Are people-? Well yeah how else are babies made," Zed asked, seeming confused by the question, just to frown as he heard Orion snort from the front seat," hey what's so funny up there? You know some other way smart guy?"
"They are made in tubes here. They take the best eggs and sperm from their most promising citizens and use it to make a years worth of children. Those children are usually all intended to have similar, if not the same, jobs and get there name according to their birth year and month....," Leo stated from behind the wheel, her voice speaking in a monotonous tone, as if she was reciting it from some sort of unseen paper...
Zed crinkled his nose at the response, obviously displeased with their mechanical form of reproduction... "Well, where's the fun in that?"
"There's not. Remember their the brain's we're the muscle. No point in them trying to make things fun if their whole future depends on giving our country a reason to keep them around," Orion responded, waving his pistol a bit to make his point clearer.
It was quiet for a moment after that... as Zed processed the information and the other two reveled in the fact that his constant yammering at ceased. Unfortunately the silence could only last so long.
"Are those guys in the back dangerous at all Pan? I mean.... you're a doctor.... but they don't look like doctors....."

"I know he would and that's why I won't let you ask him," Carpo said, standing up a bit as he spoke," I almost lost him once already Alpha and I'm not risking him again.... Especially since he didn't even want to go back to the city! He's already sacrificed a lot for us and I'm not making him give up more you hear!?!"
"Carpo....."
"What Rene?!" The redhead asked, shaking a bit with how angry and scared he was feeling. It was irrational to yell like this, he knew that. He just.. He just couldnt think of any other ideas though and.... and..
"Y-You need to calm down petit renard..... Last time you got agitated.... you had a uh... so just please.... We can think of something else... I'm sure.. just keep calm..."
Carpo frowned deeper at his words, but protested no further. Instead he simply nodded and slowly sat down, unclenching his fists in the process. "I'm sorry... I just.... Can't we do something else.... Please? I could talk to them about the tests on me.... or something.... Can we just please leave Pan out of this.. please Alpha..." |

Carpo was relentless as usual. Alpha was left with an icy glare and an empty sigh of frustration. "..." The man could only grumble and let the subject go. When the red head would get that frustrated, Alpha would pretty much equate this to the his temper tantrum when he didn't get his way. Carpo wouldn't do it often, but it seemed like when he did, he was serious enough to die for these tantrums, since he nearly gives himself a heart attack every time.
"Fine.... we'll try to think of another way..." he gave in. Perhaps these people would simply take, 'We need help' and would be willing to ask questions later.

Pan was amazed at how much information the driver knew. He was impressed but also terrified about the way she said it. Like how she's been through and seen too much. And Orion, as wise and as handsome as he looked, he seemed so intimidating with his pistol in hand.
Zed was fun to watch up until he looked disgusted with the information. The doctor was unsure if he should tell the man that he too was created and not born. But Carpo was born... thinking that for himself, Pan couldn't help but feel even more admiration for his lover. No one was allowed to be born, but Carpo was.. but because of that, he was tortured. Pan never wants to see that.
Snapping him back to reality, Zed's question sort pinned him in a corner. But Pan had been honest this whole time, and they had done nothing but answer all of his questions truthfully (as far as he knew). "Huh?.. Oh no, they're not doctors, but they're my friends! They've been helping me survive ever since I was exiled. " Pan answered, shaking his head to Zed. Now, Pan didn't lie, he just left out details about how Alpha and Carpo had probably killed people.... of course Pan felt like he's killed more than anyone around him combined.... and that thought scared him.

Nodding some at Alpha's words, his hands still shook some, as he tried to calm down. "M-Maybe... I mean I could tell them how they torture natural borns.... I have lots of scars.... And I mean they might not care..... Might even be test tube babies themselves.... But if they are from across the border... I mean. Maybe their values are different.... or something"

"Exiled? Oh right after.... Huh.. Wait but I thought you went to prison..... Or is Exiled another word for jail," Zed asked in confusion just for Orion to shake his head and chuckle.
"No. Dummy. He definitely went to jail, Kravos probably broke him out though. The men he is with are probably from that group Kravos is always talking about."
At this Zed lips formed a small 'o' and he blushed a bit out of embarrassment. "R-Right...Hey Leo are almost th-," he started to say just to lurch forward as the vehicle finally came to a stop. "Hey couldn't you have warned me or something?"
"Could've but I was hoping that smashing your face on the back of my seat would serve as a reminder to buckle in next time," Leo said calmly as she pulled the keys out and started getting out of the truck.
"Don't count on it. His head's full of nothing but air," Orion said with a smirk as he, too, exited, leaving Zed and Pan alone in the back seat.
Rubbing his mouth, he grimaced at the touch and frowned at the blood. He grumbled something about stupid bosses and the like before finally looking back over to Pan. "We're the only ones at the base right now.... so you guys should be okay.... But we're going to escort them inside in cuffs and you should wear your helmet, just in case there's any sort of folks around the grounds... We'll uncuff em once we get inside in our living space and see what we can do for the lot of your once there.... Sound good?" |

Pan managed to prevent himself from hitting his head in the seat in front of him. Knowing that they were finally at their destination made another one of Pan's many worries dissipate, just a little at least.
Then turning to see the other man with a bloodied lip, "Woah.. Are you okay?" he asked with a grimace. "That looks like it really hurt..." he added. His doctoring instincts started kicking in but he quickly realized he was lacking in supplies. The blood dripped and Pan couldn't help but want to wipe it. His glove was at least, slightly absorbent, but then quickly pulled back. "Oh~! Sorry.. force of habit, but if you have a first aid kit inside, I'll patch up your lip for you... well, maybe make it hurt a little less~" he rubbed his head. "But, maybe I can head back and just let the others know first, would that be alright?" he asked as he started putting the helmet back on.

Alpha was slid right into the wall of the truck when it came to a sudden stop.
"Ow!" he cried. "geez, Who's driving this thing?!... at least we've finally stopped." he mumbled under his breath. Pulling himself up and rubbing his head profusely. He could swear that there was a bump already forming. " Man... ech-.. maybe we should just jump these guys, it is four against three.." he muttered out loud. Now, of course he wasn't actually entirely serious, but at least then they wouldn't have to ask for permission to use a computer.

"This? Nah I mean sort of but-," he started to say just to hiss as Pan rubbed away some of the blood," alright.... Maybe just a little bit...Anyways, um Leo and Orion are probably already starting to escort them. It's not too far, even though it's hard to tell that in all this snow...We should probably just get inside and get the heat turned up and such. That would do em a whole hell of a lot more good than trying to talk to them in this blizzard."
With that, he slid fully out of the car, helmet on and started trudging through the snow to the base, which actually was just s few yards away... Pulling himself inside, he waited for Pan before carefully slipping of his helmet. "I'm going to go turn the heat on. Here are the keys for when they get inside... Be right back."

Carpo also slid into the wall when they unexpectedly stopped, hitting his head nice and hard on the wal, so that the world felt as though it were spinning. Rene, on the other hand, was lucky enough to have been sitting next to Alpha and, thus, had his body as a cushion.
"That's silly Alpha and you know it," Rene said as he also got up and went over to help Carpo up, who appeared a bit dazed. Patting his head, he smiled at the lack of blood and carefully hoisted him up. "We have to at least wait until we figure out where we are first."
Carpo chuckled at bit at that and slowly started to regain his footing as the door opened wide. The cold hit him instantly, making a violent sort of shiver shake his body as the wind and snow blew into the carriage. They proceeded to order some sort command, which he couldn't really hear. Thankfully they made it real clear as they proceeded to tugging him out by his arm and usher them in with the barrels pointed at their backs...
Within a few minutes they were inside and covered in snow all at the same time. Carpo shivered as the cold seeped through his clothes and looked to the other person there, only to realize... There was only three of them... Pan was gone... Within seconds, his cuffs were wrapped around the third man's neck, cutting off air flow to none other than his masked lover.
"Where is he? What did you do to him," he yelled as he held on firmly to his hostage, hands shaking from the mixture of cold and adrenaline.
"What the hell are you talking about," Orion asked, taken aback by the sudden hostility of the redhead.... Had he lost his mind or did he plan on doing this all along, either way, he couldn't get a good shot on him to stop him from doing what he was doing... |

Pan sighed in compliance as he figured he couldn't tell the others. That would surely be fine, after all, the others would finally be safe, and now they'd be out of this scary blizzard. He followed Zed out of the car but then turned to see the others already being taken out of the back and into the building ahead. With the keys, he was given the lot were set inside a rather large warehouse looking structure that looked a lot more boring and desolate outside than it did inside.
The interior was filled with several comfortable looking areas that looked like they belonged in a log cabin. He didn't see Zed anywhere, so he assumed that the heat was turned on somewhere else. Of course, Pan would have loved to admire more of the place had cold chains not been suddenly wrapped around his neck! Startled, Pan dropped the gun and could easily Carpo's voice! But seeing the scenario around him, he figured that Carpo was scared that there weren't four of them. He wanted to desperately tell him that he had the wrong man!
"C-..C.!! I.." was all that would squawk out, Pan could easily throw Carpo off, but he knew that Carpo wasn't doing this to hurt Pan, so he couldn't bring himself to raise a hand to harm the redhead. One hand was around the chain, trying to prevent Carpo from cutting his air flow to the point of passing out, and his other hand was waving to the other two soldiers, begging that they wouldn't shoot anyone!
Alpha also was weary that there was only 3 soldiers instead of 4, but he really wasn't expecting THIS from Carpo. "Carpo! Let go of him!! Now!" he commanded. He too didn't know if that was Pan or not but he couldn't actually think that Carpo was ready for the consequences of this! Plus, Carpo was acting like he was ready to kill. Though hesitant at first, Alpha felt like he had no other alternative than to run up to the two struggling and try to yank Carpo off of him! "Let go! You know I didn't actually mean to.. to jump 'em!!" Of course, all the yanking wasn't exactly helping poor Pan either. In fact, he was getting very close to passing out.

Carpo wasn't letting go, especially after the guns raised in his direction. No, if anything, it made him hold on tighter, cutting off airflow more than he previously had been. "No, Alpha. I'm not letting go until I know what they did with him.... There was supposed to be four of them.... Four.... And now he's.... I told you this was a terrible idea...I...," he was panicked.. They had gotten so far. Had broken out of prison twice and ran over large tracts of land..... And to see him not here.... to see just three of them.... Well, all the worst thoughts were going through his head. Like.... what if they killed him and pushed him out the door? What if they beat him up or took him somewhere? He knew he should've just left with Pan..... But now he..
The cocking of a pistol sounded in his ear as the barrel pressed against his skull. At this, he froze in place, a chill going up and down his spine. He hadn't heard anyone walking up... and the two soldiers were still staring at him guns draw...
"I don't know what's going on here, but I suggest you let Pan go before I put a bullet in your head," Zed said calmly, as if he had dealt with similar situations in the past.... So calmly in fact.... that it took Carpo a second to comprehend what he had said and actually do what he was told.....
Unwrapping his chains from the other man's neck, he took a step back and watched as Zed stepped forward, helping Pan take up the helmet and unzip the top part of his suit so that he could breathe easier....
At the sight Carpo felt a mixture of remorse and relief all at once, a combination that made him turn his eyes down in shame... He didn't know what to say or what to do and his hands were still shaking as the adrenaline coursed through him..
"So what was that about them not being dangerous," Zed joked as he looked to the albino, a smile tugging at the corner of his lips....
Leo, meanwhile, seemed hardly amused. "Orion... Uncuff the other two and put the hothead in solitary to cool off for a little bit.... I'm going to call home and check to see if they know when the next inspection is...."
"Yes... ma'am," he said, lightly tugging at Carpo, as was the orders....

Alpha froze and let Carpo go. He watched Pan dropped to his knees as the other soldier unzipped his suit a bit and pull his helmet off. Pan gasped and coughed on the floor until he was ready to try and get back up. Pan had some red bruises all along his neck that were hard to hide, but Zed and Leo's words kind of put Pan in a nervous state of mind.
".. no.... " he muttered painfully as he rubbed his neck. As Orion began pulling Carpo away, Pan scrambled to hold on to his barrings as he reached fast enough to grab Carpo's other hand.
"Please... i.. it was just.. a misunderstanding" he spoke breathlessly. His words were pretty raspy, but his determination was steadfast. "Please.. he ..he didn't mean to..." he tried to cover his heavy breathing. Alpha was even ready to step in and let them take Carpo away. It was odd, their form of love together... Pan clung so desperately to Carpo, but... to Carpo, well, Alpha couldn't fathom how Carpo would grow so irrationally violent so quickly... but.
He turned to Rene and thought about their new love... could he see himself getting that defensive and scary over Rene?..
What's more, Pan forgives very easily. Carpo could've killed him!... Alpha kept looking at the two and something wouldn't leave his mind...whatever they were fighting for, they needed to finish it fast someone would get seriously hurt or worse. Alpha turned to stand by Rene, and deep down, he hoped that they would put Carpo away.. just long enough for him to talk to them.. mostly about Pan.
Pan turned to Leo and gently pulled Carpo towards him, "Please, Captain... Have him stay with me.. I'll watch him.. " Pan begged with his raspy voice, his eyes were pleading with worry to the captain.

How he could he have been so careless... so stupid? He had almost killed him and over what? A bit of paranoia? He should've thought things through before acting, but he hadn't. Instead he let his fears get the best of him and nearly lost yet another person in his life...
He realized it quickly, and, thus, didn't struggle when Orion went to lead him away. He had made a mistake... again. And he deserved to be punished for it.
Even after strangling him though, Pan still clung onto his hand, asking for him to be kept with him instead of in a cell. The sentiment filled him with guilt, a feeling which only increased as Orion paused. The older man seemed to be taking his words to thought and looked over to Leo for her response. Before either of them could so much as utter a word though, Carpo shook his head and spoke himself..
"N-No....They're right Pan.. I..I'll go in solitary for a bit... calm down.. clear my head. I'm a bit.... on edge," he muttered as he continued to look down, unable to look the man in the eye," I'm sorry."
A bit of silence followed that before Leo finally responded. "Well, you heard him," she uttered before Orion continued leading Carpo away.
Rene had taken to Pan's side after his departure and gently brushed some of the man's bangs out of his eyes so his concerned eyes could look into Pan's pink ones. "Are you alright," he asked, as Zed fiddled with Alpha's cuffs in the background. |

"I'm sure they do," Rene said with a slight smile," after all, people who mean to don't offer themselves to solitary so easily, you know? And it's okay... They seem... different than those guards from the prison.... They are all so.... mmmm... I don't know the word..." He trailed off for a moment, as he tried to think of the English word, just to jump a bit as Zed reached over to undo his cuffs....
"I gathered as much," Leo responded simply as she watched Zed unclick the cuffs. She then proceeded to hold her hand out for the key, which Zed was quick to give back. "Which is exactly why who I'm calling is none of your business. Zed please stay here and keep an eye on them."
"Yes ma'am," he said with a salute, only to watch her exit the room. Once she was gone, he turned to Alpha with a smile. "I wouldn't worry. She's not calling your home, she's calling our home. We wanna make sure we know when your government is paying us a visit next, so we know how long we can keep ya for." |
