This was the first thing she'd really be doing as a Westfen member, and, well, Time to Go had to admit she wanted to do them proud. Even if she'd never catch herself saying that.

How was she supposed to do this? Untangle the vines? Just - just push through?

Maybe a bit of both, Time to Go decided. They'd hinted at the event involving intelligence and ingenuity, after all, but it was also a pentathlon: brute strength had to matter. She tugged and twisted the vines first, and then pushed at them - oh! Maybe pulling would be better. She hooked her horns into them and tried that instead for a bit. It...felt looser. Okay. Time to go back to untangling. She turned the large knot nearby over, looking for a place to begin.

Urgh. Maybe she really was supposed to just brute force it: that had seemed easier. But no, she realized, pulling a vine out of its tightly lodged place at last. This was...this was the right way. She worked methodically, pausing every so often to hook her horns into the structure to loosen things up again. Soon enough, the giant mess of vines had lost many of its layers, and she backed up a little - and then ran in, retrieving the stone now with ease. Take that, competitors!

Oh yeah. Time to Go could do this.

She liked swimming, and tricky things, sweet-looking things that packed a punch. She almost glided straight over the bog, but fell into the lake near the end. Well, it had been exactly what she expected, and she pushed the rest of the way through with ease. No entanglement for her - she knew what she was doing. She swam the rest of the way through and broke to the end with a smile.

Westfen would definitely appreciate her presence at future events after this.

Confident, Time to Go made her way over to the root maze without much fear. She had time, now. And playing around on the roots of big trees was - well - it was what kids did.

She was admittedly a lot heavier than she'd been as a child. So this would definitely, ah, take a bit of planning. She scrutinized the maze, trying to figure out the most optimal path. That was, after all, basically what she always did with everything, if she could say so herself. Soon enough she'd had it all sized up, and it was truly time to go.

The best way to do this was quickly, she reminded herself, with dainty little steps. So she charged up, resting her legs exactly where she'd planned to. It was working out so well! A little more than halfway there, her leg slipped - but she picked it up just in time to put it on the next root, and then again, and again, and again...

It was over. She caught her breath for a while before moving on to the next obstacle.

What were all these kin doing sticking their noses in stacks of grass?

...oh. This, well, it sounded like a pretty annoying obstacle, to be honest. But she...she'd get the thistle soon enough, she was sure. She'd encountered enough of them to recognize it, she thought. She chewed her way through the grass a little defiantly when it got stuck in her mouth, and she wondered if she'd spot the characteristic blush hue of the thistle before it inevitably pricked her.

Honestly, at this point the slightly scratchy grass texture was probably already more intense than she was expecting a thistle sting to be. I-It was just annoying, and Time to Go had learned she didn't like things that were inconvenient for the sake of being inconvenient.

She almost kept going even when she did finally feel the thistle's aberrant texture, but it was, after all, time to stop. Two more obstacles to go!

Ah, running through mud.

This felt, well, simple, too. Admittedly, running through mud was never simple; it sucked at your hooves and pulled you in. Kind of like running on a bog, really.

She started off quickly, but the mud was - not especially surprisingly - deeper than she'd estimated. Near up to her eye, actually. Okay, so this might be a little harder than she'd expected. But that was fine. She was a good swimmer, and she appreciated struggling. Of course, there was more than mud here, and as she swam - ran - whatever, she felt her hoof getting snagged on a vine.

It was over soon enough, though, and she emerged drenched and dirty but victorious.

Here was the last one.

Leaping over logs was pretty - okay, Time to Go could admit it was exciting. Fun, even. She trotted to the end of one log and jumped to the next one, and it formed an interesting routine, she had to admit. If only because that involved calculating the trajectory necessary to jump to the next log.

She scanned the water as she approached the next log - and promptly almost jumped out of her skin. Caiman were, well, the sworn enemy of her new clan.

It was fine. She got through, in the end.
