The Last Two Men Off of Earth

"Not if We Were the Last Two Men on Earth."

User Image

The year is 6805. The species that called themselves 'humans' have come dangerously close to the brink of extinction after a long and costly civil war.

Only a few, fragmented human groups have survived. And of those, they are scattered throughout the galaxy.

One alien species, for some reason only known to them, have decided to begin a captive human breeding program.

A man named 'Bone' is one of those captive humans. He is intended to serve as 'stud' to another male human (women are in short supply) who has (willingly or not) gone through long weeks of body modification to make him breedable.

Character Info Dumps:

-Bone-
- Bone is a massive man with many scars ranging from barely-noticeable to a few that have left lasting muscle and skin damage. His blond hair is buzz-cut leaving only a little stubble, and his beard is the same. Bone's eye color is an unnatural amber/orange color as a result of years of genetic modification and forced speed-healing. He was solid when young to aliens who since then used him as a Gladiator-type 'pet' of sorts. Bone was altered as he grew to ensure he grew as huge and muscular as possible while not completely compromising great mobility and health.
- His education was spotty at best, and non-existent at worst. But Bone has managed to learn most of the 'common language' most sentient species use, and handfuls of many other languages through his lifetime traveling through different stations and spaceships to fight.
- At 35 years old, Bone has lasted far more than the usual human 'lifetime' for one who's had to fight animals and aliens all better equipped at fighting than he is. And after being bought for the breeding program (with Bone considered a 'very fine male specimen worthy to stud') the fighter thinks he's going to get to live the dream most slaves only dream of: a life of luxury. And he thinks whatever person he's paired with will agree.
- After all, who could possibly say 'no' to a life of free food, shelter, comforts, and all only at the cost of making babies for aliens?

-Cren-
-His name means something on some planet his parents dumped him on and he never really knew what it was like to be a slave. He grew up among those that looked nothing like him on a planet so far out that he should have never been found. He was in a safe place, a safe haven, till he hit the age of fifteen and everything just sort of managed to screw it's self over. The planet came under attack, Cren was separated, and suddenly he knew what horrors it was to be used and no longer free. He had tasted freedom and then had it ripped away which caused him to be more "wild" than most handlers would expect.
-Cren was not bred to be anything significant but his parents, his parents had been, and it left Cren looking all the more unique. He is not very tall, average height at best, but he has a good deal of muscle to him. He is not stocky, but lean, he has a lot of strength in him but his body hides it well. His parents were of a undercover class, bred to look less intimidating, but Cren could hold his own if need be. His almost Maroon colored hair is long, well past his shoulders but there are different gold beads and bobbles in it to hold it back from his face. He is just reaching 23 and had been sold around quite a few times for his odd coloring with his hair and the almost Jade green color to his eyes. He is rather pale, a few times his previous owners have compared the color to the sand on the beaches of his home world he knew very little about.
-Cren has no definitive markings on his body but the bobbles in his hair were from when he first became a slave. He doesn't often say much though he has a rather high level of education and is well versed in many languages thanks to an owner that had been more interested in someone they could talk to than just a pretty object.
-Cren was sold to the aliens and deemed a "decent fit" though his attitude proved to be a problem. He didn't ENJOY the modifications to his body and her certainly was not a fan of the aliens that had him. He was hoping when he met the "stud" that would try to get close to him that the other would be of the same mind as him.

Side Characters:
ThreeSun: A reptilian raptor-like male (though his name is considered 'female' for his species). His body is largely scaled and green, with blue feathers lining his throat and upper chest, along with the end of his long tail.

Thi'tric: A small pink colored male. Almost florescent skin with the bright blue luminescence that pepper his skin in an almost circuit like manner. Eyes unnaturally blue, seeming almost electronic. Pure white hair. Human-like.

Bone itched a little at the new collar that fit snugly against the thick skin of his neck, the cybernetic fabric rubbing a bit uncomfortably against one of his deeper scars but not to the point of anything other than a light chafing. He followed his new owners placidly enough for a man who stood taller than the both of them and more than thick enough to (hand-to-hand) take them on. But why the hell would he want to do that. Bone looked around curiously but without straying, not really liking the long sterile hallways and odd suits the unknown aliens were wearing. The suits looked like full-body uniforms, ad some even had tanks attached; probably for species that couldn't breathe O2. And yet, not all the aliens of the ship had tanks, or even the same sizes or shapes. Bone wasn't used to seeing such a variety, especially among such a nice ship. But maybe the aliens were all the same species but had different shape and breathing needs at different ages. The fighter shrugged and stopped touching his neck, deciding it didn't matter what the answer was because it didn't concern him.

What did concern him was the fact his two escorts had stopped and gestured towards a door. The hallways had few and far-between doors, and when Bone walked in he saw why. The sliding, pressurized door hissed softly open to reveal a very large space the warrior could only describe as 'luxurious'. The floor was soft, layered with some green, carpety stuff that felt pleasingly lukewarm. There were many bean-shaped bed/couch things that were big enough to fit him, and others big enough to fit three men of Bone's size. There was only one wall, separating a small dark alcove wit most of the bean-things, probably for sleeping purposes. Bone walked inside and explored with a smile on his face, marveling at the comforts now available to him. There was a panel on one wall that looked odd, but when Bone walked over it slid open to reveal a fresh bowl of some oatmeal-shaped food.

Taking the bowl, Bone walked over to a bean and sat down, then stuck a finger into the paste and tested the taste of the meal. Protein; he definitely tasted protein. It also had a texture similar to mashed bug-gruel, only finer with a touch more citrus flavor. Not as satisfying and filling as solid roasted meat (which Bone had only eaten once; fresh and real meat was a massive luxury in space) but it was better than most of the meals the blond had eaten in his life, so he gobbled the food down before heading over to the large pond where the water was crystal-clear and looked drinkable enough. So Bone drank his fill, filled the emptied bowl with water, and went over to a bean to lounge. The wounds from his last fight still smarted and his body ached, but he had the great satisfaction of knowing it was his last fight. These wounds wold heal, and he would receive no more. It was a nice feeling, along with being full and in a room that was nicely climate controlled.

"Now to wait for someone to ********," Bone said to himself contently, taking a sip of water before putting the bowl down and leaning back. Hell yeah, this was nice.

[One Month Later]

"Okay ... is he collared? Restrained? Muzzled?" A reedy voice asked outside the small medical room where the 'breedable' male specimen had been housed for the past week while going through medical treatment.

"Yeah yeah, now hurry; the sedatives only last so long."

The last comment said by a deeper voice seemed to get the alien moving. The med room door opened silently and a bipedal lizard-type creature walked inside, long toes with curled claws clacking lightly against the floor as it walked. The alien stared at Cren a few moments, a small 'beard' of able feathery protrusions fluffed out down the raptor-like alien's throat before he sighed and walked closer. Neatly trimmed claws grabbed the handle of the floating gurney and beginning to move it towards the door, and then down the hall. The alien had green scales tat made the blue throat-feathers stand out more vibrantly; likely some genetic throwback to days back when the species needed to show off to mate.

His clear inner eyelid blinked nervously as he hurried along with the human, having heard all sorts of (possibly exaggerated) rumors about how wild and untrustworthy this one was. Who'd of thought a pretty'pet' like this more dangerous than a fully-proven fighting animal? As far as ThreeSun had heard about the other more massive human, the fighter was as docile and obedient as a well-trained Saturn Squid.

Though ThreeSun hardly felt reassured when he finally got to the designated holding pen and actually saw the orange-eyes human for himself. The reptile's feathers puffed out fully in fear at the sight of the big human just sitting and staring at him as he pushed the gurney in, but the lizard swallowed thickly and hurried inside, glad that there was a visible shield barrier splitting the pen in half. The two humans would be kept separated for the first day, just to make sure they weren't going to suddenly try to kill each other. Little was known about humans, let alone their mating habits or reactions to the opposite sex. But for such a violent species precautions were best used without hesitation.

ThreeSun picked up the 'small' human with a shudder and straining a little, plopping the sedated male onto one of the couched and rapidly undoing the restraints and muzzle before fleeing with the gurney as if his long tail was on fire.

Bone watched the small proceeding curiously, standing and walking over to the barrier to get as good a look as he could at his to-be ******** buddy. And, well, the only other human he could remember seeing in his life. Bone was pleasantly surprised to see the differences mixed with species similarities between his own body and that of his guest, the matching collars not really counting. It was a thrill, looking over the male dressed with a white shirt and pair of pants. Bone had on a matching pair of pants, but had taken off the shirt and folded it away days ago, used to less clothing than more. He was used to collars too, and knew they could and would deliver nasty 'deterrents' directly to the brain if he put a toe out of line. He'd learned young never to put a toe out of line. Rewards were nicer than punishments.

"Oi, morning sunshine," he quipped with a grin of his broad, white teeth at the newcomer, wondering how doped-up the other was as he saw the redhead begin to move. "I'm Bone." Might as well get off on the right foot. Bone figured they were likely to be roommates for the foreseeable future.

Cren wasn't pleased, he wasn't happy, he was tied down with a godforsaken muzzle over his mouth as if he would actually bite the fools before him. He knew better, their flesh wouldn’t yield to his teeth, but the skulls were soft enough to cause some damage if he could get his hands free. The worst part about all of this… the monsters seemed calm as they drug him along, the warning from his previous owner clearly ringing in their heads. They wouldn’t need warning if they would just LET HIM GO but of course that kind of thinking just didn't do well with these creatures. They would do as they pleased, nothing like the well thought and educated people he had been raised with… his family. Cren thrashed a bit, years later and the memory of being ripped away still hurt, but of course the thrashing was instantly subdued with pressure on his neck.

He didn't get a pleasant welcome, nothing pleasing about his initial stay, he was put in a sanitary room and left to wake up before the procedures would start. Cren didn't want to be bred like an animal, he didn't want to bring children into a universe where they would be ripped from him the moment they came from his body, he didn't want to be CHANGED to fit these ideals. He had never been created for this, he was a man, he wasn't supposed to be bread like a female tyrinian slug. Colors be damned, personality be damned, he had thought he was safe with his previous owner but that was a lie.

[Two weeks later]

The world was nothing but fog, painful fog, his body still ached here and there from the procedures but the aliens were good about giving him something for it. He could hear voices, deep and then one higher, but it was like listening through several walls or water. Cren could barely hear most of the words but those thoughts drifted away when he saw the stranger come towards him then start pushing him to a new place. The most he could do was shift, twist a little, before he was fading off into the darkness of the heavy sedation he was under. A few moments later he was coming to again, missed by the person carrying him, green eyes just barely opening before he was dropped onto the cushion as if he weighed far more than he actually did.

Cren felt the restraints start being pulled away, his fingers just twitching with the attempt to get up and run, before he closed his eyes completely again. He let the sedatives work there way out, wearing off more quickly than most of the heavy stuff he was given, slowly he found feeling coming back to his extremities. Cren rotated his wrists, moved his arms, but when he heard the others voice and the calmness… the utter CONTENT that was there Cren felt bitter instantly. This man… this man was giving him welcome into his own personal nightmare like the gate keeper to Shamal! As if this was the afterlife where he would be HAPPY and PLEASED. Cren turned himself away from the voice before sitting up, looking to the bland colors with disdain, his home had always been so vibrant but now there were always such bland colors.

Cren shuddered, his stomach heaving as he moved, his body still protested the shifting of his organs. Advanced these people may be but they knew nothing of how humans worked and Cren could FEEL the change deep in his stomach that made him want to retch. He heard the others voice again, obviously giving his name, before Cren stood. He used the wall as support, hanging his head, before biting out some bitter words.

"Yeah well I'm you can go ******** yourself."Cren stood up taller, a hand on his stomach, before he stepped back and stared up at the wall and to the tiny spot he had learned most of the cameras to be. "I won't play your game! Tallan bakran dolin!" Cren cursed bitterly, taking a few steps back, it wasn't the most… pleasant way to interact with people but Cren had learned long ago that these scientists were no better than the owners he had. Cren hid his face from the man behind him as he moved around, being careful that the other only saw his back, he wanted nothing to do with the man for the moment.

Of course when the other started speaking again, just plain words, Cren spun around and hissed curses at him. "Are you an idiot?! This isn't a fun welcoming time! What is WRONG with you!" Cren hissed bitterly but then again this man probably didn't see anything wrong with this. All he saw was that he would get to screw someone as much as he wanted and be fed for it, get joy out of it, he had no expiration on how long he would do that for but Cren had ever idea of what would happen. He would be bred till he couldn’t anymore, till he was nothing but a pathetic waste of space, he would be reprimanded every time his body couldn’t do the task it was asked to and he would be forced to carry children over and over again only to lose them. He didn't get FUN, he wouldn’t get FUN, this wasn't good or FUN. Cren turned back to the door "You can do this! I am not a PET or an ANIMAL! I won't let you do this to me!!" Cren kicked the door, frustrated already, his stomach screaming at him for the movements, he had been saying the same things for the past two weeks.

((I love this character because he is human but since he was raised on another planet I can create my own religious views and everything for him! Oh I am so excited… and this enough difference in opinion for you? XD))

Bone raised one thick, golden brow and could not keep back a frown from edging his strong, bearded jaw as the young man stood facing away from him and replied with his own 'name' in Common Tongue. Brat. The fighter remained where he stood at the edge of the lightly pulsing blue energy wall separating him and the other human being. Suddenly the novelty of seeing one of his own kind wasn't nearly so grand. The fighter watched with bewildered fascination as the younger man hissed and spat like an affronted Catt, the other's stiff and almost-drunken seeming shuffling around while against the wall and never ending in his curses (in more than a couple of languages, Bone couldn't help but note) against their 'captors' the 'uneducated monsters' and 'spat-out offspring of a Vengridian tunnel slug'.

Getting over the first insult Bone opened his mouth to speak in Common again, trying to get the other human to calm down when it was so obvious the other was still in pain from whatever surgeries had been done to him to make the two of them 'compatible' as breeders. "Why don't you side down and shout all you--" But then the redhead whipped around, the baubles in his long hair clattering almost warningly while Bone go his first good look at the other's face as he snarled and shouted. The large bear of a man couldn't help but wonder whether the young man was in fact part Catt; all he needed was a bristling feline tail and arched back to complete the spitting-mad look and attitude he had going on.

Calmly, Bone went to one of the bean couches on his side and sat down to comfortably watch the free show that was laid before him, and wondered if the new guy realized he could get painfully zapped at any moment. Though as the moments and curses dragged on as the redhead bashed against the door before stopping for a bit (probably due to an aching foot or aching insides ... or both) the younger man was not reprimanded in any way.

Probably because he's still healing. Or who's watching doesn't care if he has a tantrum. "Just like you probably 'wouldn't let them' turn you into a she-male?" Bone chirped up, hardly cowed by the other's rage and anger. For one, there was a wall between them. And two, Bone was taller than the redhead and likely outweighed the other male by at least seventy pounds. Seventy pounds of solid muscle. Not to mention ... Bone was older. he man didn't know by how much, but the old fighter's calmness didn't just come from contentment. Too much panic, nervousness, even righteous anger was a determent in the fighting pits if you wanted to live. As a human being in those pits Bone had almost always been at a big disadvantage in his fights, so he'd needed to keep his cool through everything and anything to keep his wits about him. And despite his muscle, it had been his fighting smarts that had let him live as long as he had.

Long enough to go from fighting for his next bit of life-sustaining food, water, or rest to this great gig.

"Maybe you should speak louder, I don't think they quite heard all of that last insult," Bone said, getting to his feet and walking over to the clean water pond. The pond was on his side of the barrier, and it was the only source of water in their confines. So Bone decided to do the 'neighborly' thing and grab his bowl from his last meal, dip it in so it was full of water, and carefully slid it on the ground through the barrier to Cren's side of the 'line'. Bone knew barriers, and this one was made so living organics couldn't get through ... but other things could. Probably so the couches and carpet weren't needlessly cut in half from the barrier or burned.

Once the water was on the other side Bone stood up straight and watched the fiery young man with the same curious but unruffled demeanor he'd had when the green eyed hissing 'beast' had been carted in by the little lizard. "I suppose you must be shouting to either make yourself feel better or deafen me, because I highly doubt they care whether you decide to curse them down to their thrice-great grandoffspring or try to call your gods down to curse them. Though yelling until I can no longer hear your cvujin tongue lashing might do me more a favor than you, all things considered."

Cren cursed, oh he cursed, he complained and shouted at the top of his lungs till his feet moved correctly and he was feeling more of the pain. He shouted and shouted, he knew nothing would happen with the collar, they didn't care for his temper at all. They just let him do as he pleased because the words would do nothing and he was not big enough to do any real damage. He could only hurt himself with his fighting and cursing and it was already well known. Bone's comment about ebing turned into a she-male was a sting, a sting that got the man a rather rude gesture, before Cren shifted into his home language and started cursing up a storm.

It did nothing but irritate both him and apparently the person stuck in the room with him. Cren didn't mind that so much until the man tried to be NICE and gave him some water. Cren, in the middle of a rant, stopped and at the bowl as if such a gesture was so foreign to him that it was like a hand shake or a hug. Cren just stared, and stared before flinging the water back at the other males face, he glared at 'bone' with nothing but disdain and hatred. He could tell though that it did nothing to rattle the man though honestly Cren did not care if the other was rattled.

He would have to come to realize sooner rather than later that this man was not the one at fault, he was trapped just the same as him, but dammnit the other was just so ******** calm about it all when he should be angry! He could get the both of them out of here no problem, he had age and clearly wit, so why was he so freaking content to be there! Cren shouted some more but there came a point where he just had to sit down, pain radiating through his stomach, and wrap his arms around himself. He sucked in a few breaths, hanging his head, before he laughed bitterly.

"You don't even know why I am shouting. You find this nothing but entertaining and good for you to watch… you just have no idea. Look around the freaking room you big oaf… do you even see anything to care for a child in here? Do you even get this at all? Oh yeah good for you! You can have someone to screw when every you brenning want to. You'll get to stay here for as long as you want, be fine for as long as you want, while I am going to be bred until I am useless than most likely thrown away without ever getting to see a single on of the children I have…. Or worse! Just getting to see them before they are snatched away!" Cren all but growled before cringing.

"And just for your information I didn't make this EASY for them… the first surgery lead to me ripping out what they tried to put inside. So yes I protested but apparently I am VALUABLE, like some kind of well bread Vilten mutt. Accept I don't get a permanent home I just get to be your b***h for a while." Cren was in pain, that may have added to his mood, but he was also dealing with the shortest end of the stick possible. He didn't want anything to do with this damn person but by tomorrow the damn wall would be down and if Cren didn't do something with the b*****d they would both be punished quite severely. He had been told while lucid on several occasions that if he refused to breed he would be made to and the better option was to just let it happen.

He just wished he knew how long he had until that was absolutely necessary, until he HAD to bend over and just take it, he honestly hoped there was a way to get out of this.

Bone stretched his muscular arms before settling and thumb-massaged a scar across the palm of one of his hands until the water bowl got 'returned' to him. Then he dodged the thrown projectile easily, letting the water hit him without really caring. It wasn't like Cren would be let to dehydrate to dangerous levels, though the fighter wondered at the long odd star the other slave had aimed at the water as if he'd never seen anything like it before. Bone wiped his face clear of most of the water before resuming just watching Cren until the other sat down, finally looking spent.

"I'm many things, but 'blind' isn't one of them. I don't know about you, but I don't even remember my parents. Weren't the rising type. So I suppose I'm likely not either. No skin off my back." Literally; I know what that feels like and a job as simple as this one for the rest of my life isn't hardly as bad. "Sorry you've got the b***h's end of this stick kid, but making it harder for yourself is hardly going to improve things." Bone rolled his eyes. And causing trouble the first chance you get without even thinking of the consequences ... or the advantages to playin' peaceful and quiet. What a little spitfire fool this one is.

"Food'll come in at that slot in a couple of hours." Bone gestured towards the panel in the wall on Cren's side of the barrier. "Have fun eating or tossing it. I think I've had enough 'entertainment' for today. Hehe," Bone chuckled to himself, shaking his head and turning to walk casually over to the little 'bedroom', amused because for the first time in a very long time he'd gotten to watch someone else put of a fight instead of being the main show himself. It was a nice change of pace, though Bone wasn't looking forward to actually having to face the Mr '********' in person. The younger man looked so ... small, compared to the brutes and bastards Bone was used to. Hell, how was he supposed to ******** the guy without breaking him in half? Well ... the guy was probably sturdy. The scientists weren't stupid enough to match him to a human who couldn't handle his ... enhancements, right?

Rolling his large shoulders in a shrug, Bone found a big bean to flop down onto in the dark and closed his eyes. With luck, maybe he could get a couple of hours of sleep before the screecher got his energy back.

*

ThreeSun winched at the sight before him, shaking his head before taking a sip of his drink through a long bendy straw. His muzzle wasn't really built for sipping, and the straw was durable enough not to get easily torn by his curved carnivore's fangs. His hands were quick, righting down and noting Human Subject 2's behavior when first awake in his new surroundings. As far as the reptilian could tell, these results weren't ... ideal. There were several others of his species watching on their own screens and discussing quietly amongst themselves, though what they seemed most interested in was what sort of interactions the two humans had towards one another. Once HS1 left HS2 to his own devices, it seemed most of the scientist lost interest. ThreeSun wasn't surprised; the purpose of this breeding project was to learn more about humans and get a possible glimpse of their mating behavior after all. Otherwise simply inseminating HS2 would've been the easiest course of action.

ThreeSun tried not to spit up his gravy-tasting drink at one particularly foul curse, throat feathers fluffing out. Ugh. What a despicable creature. No wonder the humans had driven themselves extinct. Leaving his drink for a bit, the raptor-like little alien tried to unruffle himself and get back to note taking along with the other lower-level assistants. ThreeSun got all the 'fun' jobs. Like moving dangerous humans, apparently, and making notes so the higher-ups didn't have to rewind old footage for details little cogs like him could just pip up with.

[An unspecified number of hours later]

Bone left the dark little alcove to kneel by the pond and scoop up a few mouthfuls of water, not looking the other human's way. The fighter figured he'd poked the bee's nest enough today, and the other probably didn't feel like talking anyway.

((Ugh, short~ hehe))

Cren glared at the other, finding the excuse pathetic, because Cren may not have known his real parents but the ones that raised him…. He knew that this wasn't normal. His real parents had dropped him with nothing but a note that said "Please call him Cren, keep him safe." Nothing but that. They had never had the choice of keeping him even though they had found him a name and left him when he was already a few months old. The thought of it….that this man could just be so okay with all of this… it made Cren hate him even more. He couldn’t continue his yelling though, he was exhausted, so instead he just curled back up on the cushion he was on and all but passed out.

[Some certain amount of hours went by.]

Cren woke before Bone, though he couldn’t have known that, but instead of standing to curse at the camera even more he just stayed curled on his side on the cushion he was on. His arms stayed wrapped tight around his stomach and he just stared at the walls that were so unfamiliar. He had been in so many unfamiliar places with so many strange colors and sights, he had seen so many things that were not like his home, not to mention the so common action of giving clear 'water' instead adding nutrients to it. It still confused Cren to see so many new things, so many new species, though he knew now he had already seen more than his fair share. He had been a spectacle for many, a sight chained down and used to gawk at, he never got his chances to fight only to be mistreated an abused and he knew what that was.

Cren knew that the way he was living now wasn't RIGHT. He was being mistreated and taken advantage of, he had no say in anything, and then other races wonder why his kind are dying off. 'It's because your so foul!' they would often say but Cren didn't see it that way… it's because more often than not his kind were beaten to death before the age of sixteen by angry owners, or thrown into a battle, the genetic enhancements did nothing when teeth and claws were coming to rip at your flesh. So Cren became savage like they wanted, hostile like they pictured him to be, and more often it was a safer bet than being tame. If he was hostile they couldn’t drag him anywhere for fear of being injured and rarely those genuinely looking for a good pet would take him in and teach him right before selling him off to the next highest bidder.

Cren shifted in his spot, hated the bitter feeling rising in his throat, right now he was hurting and scared out of his wits. He just wanted to go home, to his home, to crawl into his parents bed and hide away. They would hold him close and tell him not to be scared even as he became older than his siblings. He wasn't hostile with them, he never had a reason to be, he would smile back then… they had always said his smile was lovely but now Cren didn't have his family and he was so far from home. He curled in tighter on himself, staring down at his knees, and tried to ignore the shuffling he could hear as Bone made his way to the water. Cren wiped at the tears, trying to hide them from prying eyes, but it was so hard when all he wanted to do was curl in on himself and some how go home.

Cren sniffled a little, dreading the moment the wall went down, because he had heard before what could happen if the stud isn't so nice. He knew there would come a point where he wouldn’t have a choice in all of this anymore and he was terrified of that. He just wanted to go home, he wanted to leave, more than any time in his life he wished that he could just go home. He didn't want to be scared anymore, he didn't want to hurt anymore, he didn't want to know that he was forgotten. He just wanted to go home and never have to worry about any of this ever again. He tried to hold back the small whine that left him but it was so hard not to react at all when all he felt like doing was crying.

((I like Bones little laugh but I wonder what happens when the wall comes down and Cren reacts like he fully expects the other to rip him limb from limb?))

Bone ran both wet hands along his neck after having his fill of water, enjoying the fresh sensation and taste of clean hydration. He was used to getting his daily dose of H2O though slimy food to save on costs. Bone, though very successful during his time fighting, had never been a prized specimen. He'd simply been an 'exotic' that somehow managed to keep alive despite all bets against him, much to his ex-owner's delight. Standing up he looked over to where the unnamed male was still curled up and quiet, wondering if the redhead was finally calmed down. Maybe he missed his last owner; Bone had seen young ones homesick before. They would scream, and cry, and--

Hearing a low whine, Bone blinked. He knew that kind of noise; it was the kind made when trying desperately not to completely burst into tears. So the kid was hurting; whether because of what had been done to his insides or otherwise. The fighter sighed quietly through his nose, used to just ignoring 'kids' when they got like this. In his experience butting in just got him a punch in the nose or someone trying to claw his face off. Personal hurts were the kind best nursed alone; intruders were met with great hostility, especially when they were strangers. And considering how 'warm and fuzzy' Spitfire had been the 'day' before . . . Yes. Bone sat down and enjoyed the sun-like warmth of the light, aiming to not bother what didn't need to be bothered ...

*

"Turn off the barrier."

ThreeSun nearly spat out his drink again, having been dozing at his post and watching the clock for the blessed minute his shift would end. But the short raptor turned with his throat feathers and scales pressed as close against his body as possible, trying to look even smaller than he already was as his slit eyes looked up at the Superior. "S-sir? The twenty-four hour precaution--"

"Is unnecessary. The stronger mate is the more docile of the pair, and both are collared if rapid interference is necessary. Keep a claw on the collar controls and watch them closely during first contact. If Human Subject 2 acts too aggressively for Subject 1 to handle, neutralize him."

ThreeSun closed his jaw and turned his eyes forward, claws tapping the keyboard and going through the pen barrier systems until he'd found the appropriate file and hit the 'off' switch. Then he quickly switched back to the live camera feed, trembling a little. The collar controls were his duty now, the Sup had said so.

He desperately wanted a fresh cup of caffeinated 'gravy' as some called it, even though the adreniline had him wide awake enough now as it was.

*

The blue barrier flicked off immediately, causing Bone to sit up and stare a moment at the ceiling, caught by surprise. He knew his duty well enough, but he hadn't thought he'd be forced to mix with Spitfire until ... well, at least the other felt a bit better. Frowning, the fighter stood, and walked over to Cren's side of the room (though now it was all one room), but instead of going straight for the other male Bone instead went to where the now-cold food was still sitting in the wall. He grabbed the bowl and walked over to the bean-couch Cren was curled up on and clearly not feeling to good, but just sat down, intending to just sit and eat.

"Not hungry huh. I'm not surprised. It's never too much fun getting used to a new gig. 'Specially with what they did to your insides." Bone waited a moment, hand rising and pausing in front of his mouth.

He said very, very quietly to keep under recorder ability to pick up: "You'd best get your tears out now. Get a good cry. You act moody or depressed too long, they'll fill you full of happy juice." Bones had seen it happen in the pits. All sorts of problems developed in the dark, blood-filled puss holes of the universe like that, and the owners had about as many drug treatments to have fun with as any medical scientists. They just lacked the official licenses to do so ... not that it stopped them.

((Bone doesn't quite know how to deal with another human, so he's more-or-less going with his gut and treating 'Spitfire' like a he would a rookie in his old gig))

Cren didn't notice the barrier was down, just sort of stayed curled up where he was, until the couch beside him dipped a bit and then he heard the others voice. He was silent as Bone talked, quite enough not to be picked up, and then he just sort of slowly rolled over. "I just want to go home… I don't need to cry, I do enough of that already, I don't come from being a pet Bone." Cren pushed himself so he was sitting up, still bitterly angry but the depression out weighed that right now. He knew exactly what bone was talking about, that happy juice, but some days that damn stuff was the only thing that got him up and moving. His previous owner, before the people who sold him to be bred, had been worried about him greatly. He had said he saw this a lot in humans, a deep sadness when chained to an owner or bred till they were useless, he had taken care of so many before Cren that he realized they truly were not pets.

He had been a good man, had never made Cren ware a colar, and before his passing he had been looking for somewhere to take Cren so he would be safe but on the world he lived in… once a human was there then they could not leave unless sold and his owner was an old man with very few friends thanks to his opinions. Cren missed that, missed the dust tomes the old man had, he missed the lack of technology and the way he was allowed to dress as he pleased. Cren kept his arms wrapped around himself as he sat there. Bone wasn't advancing on him, he would be fine, the other was just sitting and eating but if the other tried anything Cren wasn't sure how he would react.

"I had a home, a safe place, on the planets my parents were forced to leave me on. I know what it's like to have a family and Bone… You family leaving you… that wasn't normal. They did something WRONG to you… would you really think humans would be born so defenseless if the parents were meant to just abandon them?" Cren hated this, trying to get the other to understand, because he wouldn’t and Cren knew that. You could shout all you wanted that this was wrong, that all of this was so wrong, but no one would listen because you meant nothing. Cren knew, just knew, there were safe colonies out there of humans. Not large groups but groups that were far from extinct. Groups that were getting bigger the more they were left alone. He knew there was a safe place and he just… hoped that if he couldn’t get out before he was pregnant he could at least make it out before the child was stolen from him.

A small pink colored male poked his head into the observation room. His almost florescent skin contrasted greatly with the dark tone around him and even more so with the bright blue bioluminescents that peppered his skin in an almost circuit like manner. Eyes unnaturally blue, seeming almost electronic, scanned the room a moment before spotting one of his favorite people. ThreeSun was newer to this breeding program, not programs in general but the human ones, and Thi'tric had taken a great deal of enjoyment from molding the young creature.

He strolled over, pure white hair bouncing a bit, before he leaned over ThreeSun's shoulder to look in the room. Thi'tric's people had very human characteristics on body shape and facial features but past that… they were nothing alike. Thi'tric's race new nothing of real gender, they were very neutral, they were born with gender but they could hide those parts away and they were the only true reason that any other race had a clue on how to adapt a human to be both male and female without screwing anything up. They also varied greatly in colors but those who were of the more… vibrant variety were often of a higher class than ones who colors ranged on the darker side. Not for prejudice but for personality. The darker of his race tended to prefer hard labor over boring jobs though they were never restricted to anything.

Thi'tric leaned heavily against ThreeSun's back, making as much contact as he could, because he always found it interesting how the other would fluster about so much from it. "They took the barrier down at bit early this time I see~" Thi'tric almost singsonged as he stared at the video screen. "Have you been taking good notes?" The male smiled and leaned over to see what the other had been writing down. He was quick to scan over the notes, teetering most of his weight on the reptile, before nodding. "It would seem that they aren't getting along to well… did anyone ever bother to think it might be because that stud will probably, very soon, be violating the breeder… at least that's what I heard the ones from one of the colonies say about it. They forced them together far to quickly…" Thi'tric looked back to the screen, the way HS2 was curled in on himself.

"He looks like he's in pain too… I think I will send someone in to check him out BEFORE anything happens… Actually I'll go. HS2 doesn’t seem to mind me quite as much as the others…by the way ThreeSun when do you go off shift?" Thi'tric smiled at the other, still using him for balance and all but draping himself over the other.

Bone got an odd look on his face at the word 'home', like he'd heard it often before but never really figured out what it meant. Maybe because he'd never had one. As 'nice' as the fighter acted, this really was the extent the man knew how to be kind; giving water, saying where the food came from, trying to give tips to rookies. Just trying to help arm others with the knowledge they needed to stay alive, because the choice of life in a pit of death was the greatest kindness they knew ... that and death without too much suffering for those who didn't have the strength to fight for life. And looking into this Spitfire's eyes Bone was disappointed to see a very distinct lack of fire, and dying down of the fight he'd seen yesterday.

At least the younger man still had enough spunk to sit up and argue at him, though the fighter just shook his head and licked his fingers clean before putting the bowl still half-full of mush down and looking at the far wall. "Safety, family ... is that why you act like a real spitfire? No wonder. From what I've heard ... those are things people cannot forget. That's why I fought so well, I guess. Nothing to forget. Nothing to cry over losing." No matter what Cren tried, to argue, the facts as Bone saw them were still that they'd both been abandoned in their own ways. One sold to fight, the other left in a soft security. But it was still abandonment, and as far as thinking about loosing whatever kids he had Bone felt no twinge of regret. Kids were just future nothings at this point; like eggs to be laid and left to the farmer to handle for life or Breakfast. Bone felt nothing for them, and thought that must be how he would remain.

"Try to eat a little. Drink too. Unless you'd rather get sedated and pumped full of what you need the unnatural way," Bone said calmly before sliding down from the bean couch just to streach out and ly on the cushiny ground with a light groan then content sigh, enjoying the slightly-harder-than-the-couches surface. It was warmer, too, like it was heated from below, and it felt good on the more achy scars around his abdomen. So Bone lay on his belly like some lizard instead of a man and just remained where he was. So much softness all around. He'd never known such things, and even after a month of getting used to it the marvel of it all still wowed the fighter.

ThreeSun was watching the interaction nervously, wishing the humans were straightforward and would just do the dirty thing to get all this stress over with. Then the males could be separated since they clearly were not 'making friends' and the nervous tension over expecting one of the creatures to jump the other would be over and done with.

Of course then his friend/mentor/bully/maybecrush had to go and just suddenly be peering over his shoulder with no warning! The reptile nearly jumped out of his seat, scrambling to grab and steady his drink before something horrible and unfamiliar happened with the thick liquid inside. If he screwed up any technology in this room he was cracked and probably going to get even worse menial low-level jobs than he already did. Like something as shameful as working on the ship pluming system, ugh.

"M-my note are always impeccable," ThreeSun grumbled as if that should be common knowledge, taking a moody sip through his straw before jotting something else down even as Thi'tric read. The colorful male always brightened up a room, that was for sure, and ThreeSun couldn't help but at least be grateful for some company not of his own species considering--

"She's off in, like, thirty seconds," Another reptile said walking up with their own pack in-hand, clearly the one who'd come to relive the blue-and-green raptor of his computer.

ThreeSun didn't even bother to correct the guy on the fact that despite his feminine name, he was in fact male. Very male. Short for a male, sure, and his name ... well, his name had a word in it. More-or-less all males of his species were just some combination of numbers, while females were one number and a word combined. This was an old tradition, and a name such as ThreeSun was actually quite sought-after but the local government were strict in keeping duplicate names for living individuals to a minimum. His parents had reserved the name for their egg the moment he's egg had been laid, and incubated him at a temperature that was supposed to ensure he was a 'she' but ... well, clearly he'd defied science on that one.

"I'll come with you; if you would kindly stop using me as a pillow," ThreeSun said, snapping his teeth together audibley ... but the message was far from aggressive. In fact usually either close friends or mortal enemies did such shows of 'aggression' at one another, and ThreeSun considered Th'tric a friend ... most of the time. And he did not want to see the other mauled. The raptor gathered up his notes and gladly left his relief in the 'hot-seat' of having the collar-switch button, following Thi'thric out of the observation room.

"So, humans do prefer longer courtship before sex?" ThreeSun spoke up as they walked, not looking forward to going into the pen himself but not about to let his one real friend do something stupid alone. "Or are the males generally too aggressive to be trusted with females not in the mood for it?" ThreeSun had seem many different species breed, and usually cycles of heat helped keep mating an easy affair. But humans ... humans were nearly always 'peaking' when female, and always ready when male. But when the females were generally smaller and less powerful it made Threesun wonder if it was a one-sided benefit system ... and how the female could deter sex when not in the mood. Canines snapped and snarled clearly, felines would have none of it until in heat, but humans ... seemed so muddled with communication and lacked proper body language.

Of course the smallchat and wondering was to keep himself from being too nervous about where they were going.

Cren looked away from the other with more than a small amount of frustration. Of course the guy wasn't going to listen to him, he was going to think his ways were the only way, that was how most of their kind were… set in their ways. But then again Cren could argue that he was the same right now, he thought only of the safety in his home and not the safety that this place currently provided. Bone wasn't all over him, he wasn't being forced into anything, and in fact everything was pleasantly warm and safe. He wasn't being beat and beside the procedures he was fine but at the same time… he didn't want to be here. Some could live life like this quite easily but Cren could not, not ever, he wanted to be home or somewhere he could go outside and feel the burn of a real sun on his skin.

The small red head shifted in his seat before just leaning back. He wanted to get up and eat but his stomach twisted painfully at the very thought of that. He knew it was because he was still healing from the damage he had caused himself and the operations but he couldn’t help but to be bitter about it. He didn't want to hurt, he hated hurting, it made him almost angry but at the same time it made him feel very out of it all. He wouldn’t ask for the other to help him, not since the man seemed so cold, instead Cren just stayed where he was and laid back down again.

**

Thi'tric leaned over the other and just chuckled at his reactions. It was nothing but gentle teasing, flirting of sorts, though it was abnormal for Thi'tric's race to find interest outside of their own Thi'tric did quite enjoy almost everything about ThreeSun and that meant a great bit to the odd male. Then again many of their races had bred together in the past few years… their species were highly compatible which was very, very, rare among completely separate races. Thi'tric almost bristled at the intrusion, not taking kindly to the other male interrupting without announcing his presence, he would have to reprimand the male later for such things. At the comment of she though Thi'tric glanced bitterly over his shoulder at the newcomer, he never enjoyed when races didn't pay proper respect.

Thi'tric stood up straight, glaring at the other raptor like male, before he huffed. "Yes I'll certainly enjoy the company of HIM." Thi'tric let ThreeSun get up, actually enjoying the way the other snapped his teeth at him, it was almost confirmation that they were getting closer. The white haired male lead the way silently as ThreeSun asked questions and gave a simple nod to the first one before waiting for the others and responding. "Humans, from what I have seen, will not mate unless they are explicitly attracted to the other person they are with. Whether that means they find them physically appealing or have an emotional connection depends on the humans." Thi'tric was heading to get some medical supplies first before going to the room.

"Males though… the more aggressive males don't seem to care about that and in some case's will actually physically injure their partners to breed. Sometimes that physical punishment will continue on and on… we have had pairs before that we have had to neutralize the stud because they were overly violent to the breeder. In other cases we have had pairs who… refused to be separated. One of our older pairs that had been here for a great deal of time shorted the collars so they would not be separated… they both died." Thi'tric gathered a few materials from the medical area then headed back. "We… spend so much time watching how they mate and none of figuring out how deep humans feel." Thi'tric sighed, it was a common issue he brought up with ThreeSun, he tried to hide very often that he was a sympathizer to the human cause because it had brought a lot of trouble to his kind.

Then again it was easier for those who seemed to resemble the humans a bit more to understand them more because they were races that had been around others such as ThreeSun's kind for so long. Thi'tric just shrugged a bit, his hands turning over the device in his hands, he really didn't want to think about that to much. "Well come on then, let's go, I need to look over this subject to make sure nothing is wrong. Thi'tric started through the different halls to where the human subjects were before pressing a few buttons and allowing himself and ThreeSun through but keeping the barrier up. Cren looked up when the door opened, about to lunge, but then he saw Thi'tric and he stilled.

"Hello Cren… Do you mind if I scan you? You seem to be in a lot of pain." Cren stared at Thi'tric as he often did whenever the male asked permission before uncurling himself. Thi'tric stepped over Bone, not bothering to ask the other to move, before he carefully started scanning Cren and looking him over. "They got a bit over excited putting you in here… you were not quite ready. You won't be ready to breed for another day or so. I can give you something for the pain." Cren nodded and Thi'tric carefully injected the other before looking down to Bone. "You can't go breeding him for a while so I guess you guys get a bit of time to know each other. There is no use having sex with someone who is unwilling and cannot be bred." Thi'tric could see the relief on Cren's face and he gave the boys should a small pat before leaving, a simple comfort since he could not provide more, before he was ushering ThreeSun out. Once outside he let out a heavy sigh and looked to the other. "You see? Relief… there should never be relief when you are told you can't breed with someone ThreeSun." Thi'tric motioned for the other to follow him.

"Lets go… how about you come to my room today and we can try playing Dri'keth again… maybe this time you can beat me." Thi'tric grinned up at ThreeSun as he had the other follow him so they could play the holo game in his room. Inviting someone to your room for Thi'trics race showed a great deal of interest in that person and Thi'tric loved showing ThreeSun he had interest in him.

The replacement reptile seemed miffed at Thi'tric's glaring and correction, but kept his muzzle shut and just took the seat ThreeSun had just vacated and made himself comfortable at the post, grumbling under his breath. Damn higher-up playing favorites. Because Thi'tric did have more authority than either ThreeSun or he did, as seen by Thi'tric's freedom to state he was going into the pen without need for any other clearance. Thi'thic was somewhat of one of the more important 'vets' on board the space station after all. And it was a space station; housing a breeding program on a planet required too many extra security protocols and whatnot. But up in space there was no worry that their captive sentients and non sentients could escape into a native environment, at least. Plus, adding extra extensions on a space station was a pretty simple matter when more space was needed as well.

ThreeSun followed the bright pink-skinned male through the halls, settling his notes and extra things in a little shoulder bag while feeling quite amused at the other's show of attitude at the other reptile.

"You know I can handle stuff like that for myself if I so choose," he reminded the other, though his little reptilian grin seemed far from berating.

ThreeSun listened, fascinated, as Thi'tric described what he knew of human breeding and mate-bond behavior. That's a very wide spectrum of possibilities, but it's to be expected with a sentient species with such weak instincts. They have no solid genetic blueprint to demand studs be properly mindful of their partners. Though he couldn't help a slight ruffling of his feathers at hearing what the one old pair of humans had done. That kind of death … would not have been painless; the exact opposite actually. Shorting out the collars would've made the devices turned to the highest setting and not stop. They would've died from the pain, and that was a horrific choice to make … it made it all the more obvious the two must've obviously cared a great deal for one another.

“Feelings … are not something that can be scientifically measured,” ThreeSun said quietly, not because he didn't agree but because such a project wouldn't get funded. The current study focusing on human mating habits, possible rituals ingrained in their genetic makeup (aka instincts and 'species habits') not only produced observable data, but also produced children of this rare species that could be moved to another facility until they were old enough (two decades roughly for humans to be both breedable and fully-matured subjects) to be put back into the project or immediately sold to help fund the project. Sold as pets if the parents were 'domestic' enough, and to fighting pits if the parents were violent. Though with 'middle' temperaments or mixed parentage were sometimes held to see which traits dominated/passed down more strongly before being auctioned off to those who would buy them. Though each individual case could vary greatly.

Feelings … could produce children. But not at a high enough rate. ThreeSun knew that, and Thi'tric knew that. The raptor grabbed the sedative gun as well, giving Thi'tric a 'I know you don't think we need it but it's better safe than sorry' look. Between one o the pair being so volatile and the other being as big as a tundra prowler TheeSun wasn't about to let the empathetic alien get in over his head. The raptor stood up straight to his full height as best he could, though his frame was thin which was why his voice and stature was hardly a cause for intimidation. Though like most of his own species he was still taller than Thi'tric, though not as dramatically as most other males of his reptilian species could be.

When they finally arrived at the proper 'pen' and the door opened ThreeSun tensed, one hand on the sedative gun when he saw HS2 tense and sitting up like he was about to try to either make a break for the door or the other side of the room when it seemed the hostile human didn't mind Thi'tric, at least. When the pink-and-blue male stepped over the massive HS1 like he was nothing more than a kitten laying on the floor ThreeSun fluffed up completely in worry, looking like he wanted to say something but remaining silent and observant instead, not wanting to cause anything with an unwise shout.

But everything went alright. HS2 was medicated without need for sedation, and HS1 simply gave an understanding nod at Thi'tric from his spot on the ground without even opening his eyes, as if he were busy enjoying some sort of spa treatment instead of just laying on something as simple as heated carpeting.

The reptile nodded agreement with Thi'tric's statement as they left and started walking down the hall, adding: "If I had to be bred by a brute that much bigger than me, I'd be relived too. Did you see his arms? They have to weight at least one verja; each!" ThreeSun shuddered, shaking his head, before giving a huff and snap at the mention of Dri'keth. "You cheat. And the game is impossible. And you cheat," the reptile repeated with loud complaints he would only ever voice aloud at a close friend. As odd as it might sound to most outside species, the reptilian race was a very strict one so sincere griping, complaints, arguing, and even verbal fights were signs of a happy and healthy couple. Though ThreeSun quite liked that Thi'tric met all of his complaints with good humor and very smart stabs of logic that usually poked gaping holes in his arguments instead of simply sqwaking back. It was fin, and stimulating. Even when the white haired male trounced him in Dri'keth.

"Too bad there are no spare studs; I would think it would be more productive to try pairing more ... like-minded humans together instead of two that seem so incompatible," ThreeSun said as the holo game was being set up, putting his bag and things carefully away to the side in a neat pile, always mindful not to disturb any of Thi'trics things while in the other's room. The reptile was always careful, not wanting to overstep the very enjoyable honor of getting to be in the other's personal space. ThreeSun hissed unhappily at the game for most of the reminder of the day, before excusing himself: pleading work necessary things to be done before his next shift. Which was true ... though also the reptile did not want to get Thi'tric into trouble.

And he was kinda chickening out over asking Thi'tric to officially become his boyfriend. Because, really, if they intended to do anything more than hang out as friends there would need to be paperwork filed and handed up the chain of higher-ups all the way up to the Superiors of the projects. And then ... well, their time together while working would need to be limited, and any events transcribed with only their testimony would be carefully monitored in case of favoritism or outright lying. And ... ugh. There were so many protocols ThreeSun couldn't even remember them all, and they were all in place to make being romantic at work a pain up the tail-shaft.

The rptile sighed to himself and swung by the med wing to put his and Thi'tric's things back before heading to his own room, getting to work, going to sleep, and waking up to quickly shower and groom for about an hour. His species was, to be frank, very vain about ever feather and scale being in its place, vibrant, and as colorful as possible. Colorful matches were simply more attractive; which was probably why his and Thi'tric's species didn't just mix well together, but were highly socially compatible too.

ThreeSun knew many of his reptilian race how were less than colorful (who unfortunately tended to not do well work-wise thanks to bias; it was simply ingrained in their minds through genetics that colorful was simply better) could sometimes be happily paired with lower-class but hard-working ones of Thi'tric's race.

Once he'd finished grooming his throat, chest, and tail feathers into a neat arrangement and made sure not a bead of water remained from his shower, scale roots and the soft, thin skin underneath feeling nice and hydrated, ThreeSun hurried to his post in the observation room, and got to work. Even if there was likely no breeding to happen anytime soon, there were still notes to take down and subjects to be watched.

*

Bone had largely left Spitfire (or 'Cren' as the colorful one had revealed the other's name to be) to his own devices, having the feeling the other still didn't like him. Though Bone couldn't help but, the next day, speak up from his own spot on the ground holding one of the bean couches up above himself, pushing it up and down, up and down ... like he was bench-pressing by himself and seemingly not even breaking a sweat as he slowly moved and worked his muscles.

"So. Cren. That's a nice name." Might as well get to know the guy beyond their philosophical differences.

Thi'tric just laughed at the others retort about the simple game, as if he would need to cheat to win, he didn't cheat ThreeSun just got distracted easily. "I don't cheat… not like that matters I know you love playing it with me!" Thi'Tric chuckled at the others displeasure but kept silent at the mention of the subjects breeding with different people. It was… hard to say the least to find humans. Those who were free were often off in the encampments and many owners did not want to give away those they had for a one time sum when they could make their own money off of the pale things. Thi'tric had seen though, after working with this race for so long, that they were so much more advanced than any of the other sentient beings that they currently bred.

There were a few races who could form basic sentences, who understood things in small amounts, but humans were so much different. They had thought proccess's and MORALS that they learned and were taught, even ingrained ones that said 'this is wrong', sure a great many of them could be hostile but who would not be when they were tied up or chained down. Being forced to fight for their lives against other creatures that were much better equipped for such things. Thi'tric didn't want to think about it, was still so odd for people to see humans as anything less than things to own, and Thi'tric did not want to lose his position simply because he wanted to help keep these humans happy.

Thi'tric invited the other in and then they were playing their game, Thi'tric laughing at the others frustration a great deal of the time, before finally it seemed that the other had to go. Thi'tric bid the other a very solemn good bye before deciding he should probably get sleep before his next shift though he actually needed very little.

Cren was… relieved after seeing Thi'tric, the alien was the only person to have ever called him by his name, then the other explained what was going on and Cren was glad that he wasn't ready to be bred yet. It would give him time to come up with a way to get away from Bone… that was an instinctive thought though, Cren knew he wasn't going anywhere, so instead he just stayed where he was and curled up to sleep through the rest of the day and night without speaking to Bone. Cren woke up the next morning feeling quite a bit better, his stomach not hurting as much, and was even able to eat. He stayed on his cushion though, trying not to aggravate his aches and pains, before he heard the other speak up from where he was bench pressing the bean. It was… interesting to see. The other man seemed capable of a lot of strength, though so was cren, except his seemed abnormal. Most likely some kind of genetic enhancement his parents had that they passed down.

Cren stared at the other for a moment about the comment on his name before shrugging a bit. "It means something in some language that died out a few years ago… The people who raised me had said it meant strength or something like that but I gave up trying to figure it out." He had wanted to change it at some point when he had been angry with his parents for leaving him but his parents that raised him… they had told him it was the only thing that they had been able to give him beside the few toys he had as an infant. They hadn't wanted to leave him but they gave him a name and that was more than quite a few children got from their parents.

Cren stood, feeling the warm texture under his feet, before he sighed and walked over to Bone. He didn't like the man, his twisted view on this all, but at least he was company… company that Cren hadn't had in a very long while. Cren sat beside Bone, staring at the Bean cushion he was lifting before laying down next to him. "Bone is an interesting name to… I don't think it fits you though." Cren watched the man but before he could be asked to elaborate he just changed the subject "You have a lot of scars. Do they hurt?" Cren had never really been allowed the chance to see many others of his kind and he wondered if the scars hut because he already had his own and he just wanted ot know if they would start hurting.

"Well you are a strong one, whatever it used to mean ... Maybe it meant something like 'spitfire'," the blond said with a small smile on his face, as if at some private joke. He enjoyed the slow burn in his muscles as he exercised himself instead of feeling discouraged by it, having gained a taste for the activity after years of being forced to go through rigorous near-constant training to keep in top shape constantly. Lazing around enough to himself go soft just didn't appeal to the ex-fighter, despite the available option to do just that. He liked his strength and knew it would be best to have it if he needed it instead of turning into an overgrown bean-couches himself.

Bone was so focused on the pleasing sizzle of hard working muscle he only noticed Cren had moved closer to him when the redhead sat down, hair bangles and bobbles lightly making noise as the other moved. The blond's own short blond fuzz was no where near long enough to hold anything, and it never really had been, so the other's items were a curiosity to the older pit warrior. Style and accessories meant nothing in a fight, so most others Bone had seen always wore as little as possible to keep any disadvantages or unfair advantages low.

While Bone's mind was wondering about the other's hair, Cren made a comment that made Bone raise an eyebrow to himself. He opened his mouth to answer Cren, to say 'Bone' was the name given to him when young because he was one of the few pit fighters that often got clawed and bitten deeply enough, easily enough (with his fragile human skin) to show his bones beneath the torn flesh. Before he'd grown into his genetics and the name had been altered to the longer and more intimidating 'Bone Breaker', that is. But before he could get into that story Cren shifted to a question very closely related to the origin of his name.

Bone snorted through his nose at the question, moving the couch to the side and putting it gently down before sitting up and looking at Cren curiously, wondering why the other would want to know; since the green eyed male was fully dressed it was hard to tell what type of scars the other had ... and Bone would likely be able to tell where the scars came from too, if he could see. Most of Bone's body was covered in scars, scars from light wounds that would eventually go away, deeper scars that would never fade. Burn scars, puncture scars, scratch and bite scars. Though all the scars on his legs were hidden by the pants, it was still obvious enough from his torso and arms how much of an expert he was on the subject. The fighter was reluctant to give the full truth though, no matter how 'innocent' the question seemed. Revealing weakness in the pits was like cutting your own throat, and out of habit Bone shook his head.

"They don't bother me too much," he said, only half telling the truth. Yes, they ached pretty badly still, especially the deeper wounds. But the pain had ebbed quite a lot since coming to this warm, comfortable place.

Back at the pit each fighter was confined to a cave-like nook carved out of raw stone. Fighters were shifted around in their cells so not all the same fighters got the warmer cell blocks all the time; and warm places were very few and far between. Mostly injured or champion fighters got nice cozy dens to sleep in, but other had to make do with ever-cold warmth-leeching stone that was rough, unforgiving, and unyielding. In such an environment, all aches and pains numbed, but old scars cried and ached. Even old broken bones had their own radiating throbs of pain in the worse, damp cells. Most fighting rings and pits were made from the husks of abandoned mines on planets that had been stripped of all valuable material. Such places were perfect for an arena, being full of craters and even underground holes where the valuable materials were stripped out, leaving a great new nest for such semi-legal activities.

Bone had grown up and lived his life going from one pit to another, and as such he'd never actually seen much of a real sky. Ever. Going from one enclosed space to another through halls, corridors, and the like. The largest open space he'd even known was the arenas, and he never wanted to go back there, thank you very much. This 'pen' was far bigger than any of his cells had been, and felt more than open enough to make him feel as 'free' as a man like him could. Frankly, and bigger and he probably would've felt a bit subconsciously unhappy with it, equating big open spaces to getting hunks of flesh torn off of his body.

"Maybe ache a little. But hurt? Nah," Bone said lightly, eyes on the bean ontop of him before he gently heaved it to the side and set it down, sweat lightly beading his body as the veteran sat up and tilted his head at Cren, smiling a little. It was still odd, seeing someone so like himself and yet so not. The red head didn't even have facial hair, as far as Bone could tell, scratching at his own stubble and wondering at whether the other's very green eyes were natural or unnatural (like his orange eyes were, though Bone had never had the chance to glance in a mirror to really look over himself; or seen enough humans to even know what was 'natural' or 'unnatural').

"What about you. What's it like to have hair that long? Do those things in it hurt, or just keep it weighted down so your hair doesn't poke up every-which-way? Have you never had hair like this," Bone stroked his beard in gesture, "or did they rip that off of you?"

Cren watched the other carefully but he wasn't to overly encouraged by the answer he was given. He hadn't ever received many scars but now he had quite a few deep ones from his own irritating rebellion. He almost laughed though when Bone asked about the bobbles in his hair and if it kept his hair from sticking up every which way. "No they are not to keep my hair down they are just… Back where I grew up they were to show what family you belonged. They are just for show… like pointless war paints or gems on a collar." Crean reached up, running a hand through his hair, the clinking that came from the beads and things knocking together relieving him a little. "A few of my previous owners tried to cut my hair but I would act as if I was in pain so they wouldn’t… They doid not know a great deal of humans and I had no reason to have it short."

Cren stared at the others facial hair for a moment before shaking his head and looking up at him. "No… never. I never really wanted it either. I have enough hair on my head I don't need it covering every other part of my body." Cren chuckled at the thought of him being hairy, like that would ever happen, though he guessed he did have some below the belt. Cren shifted around, where he was, actually quite liking the warmth of the floor. "I want to ask… did you always have eyes like that? I have always had green eyes, my parents were retty sure they were not a genetic enhancement, so have you always had eyes like that or were they a different color before you came into your enhancements?"

Thi'tric sighed as he sat at his desk in the medical area, exhausted and just wishing for his shift to be done, he had forgone sleep the night before to instead indulge himself in a hot bath which had then made it even harder for him to sleep. Of course that was all his own doing, the heat having reacted the natural way and made him quite… excited. He really wished that he and Threesun could stop dancing around each other like they were. He had been trying for a great deal of time to get the other to go to bed with him or admit to liking him so that he could go through proper steps but it seemed that Thi'tric was being rebuttled at every turn. It was really starting to put him down, he wanted to have the other as his own, but all he was getting was games and the other in his space without ever doing anything.

Thi'tric felt a pat on his shoulder than a friendly face entered his range of vision. "Why do you look so down… still not getting ThreeSun in bed?" Thi'tric huffed and nodded, his old friend standing next to him with a grin on his face. "You could always forego the lizard and shack up with me." Thi'tric smacked the male as he often did when he said such things. "Oh come on it's only a joke, you arent my type, our colors match to closely." Thi'tric rolled his eyes and scrolled through his notes on the computer. "I with ThreeSun would actually say or do something. I can't, it's not my place, but if he doesn’t soon I will show up in his room naked if I have to. If he was one of our kind I could just… you know do that but do not believe he would appreciate such actions." The other male nudged Thi'tric. "Maybe that's exactly what you should do? Maybe he thinks you are not THAT interested." Thi'tric gave his friend a look and the male just laughed.
