Michael Cole: Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to our exclusive
interview here on tnwr.com, and please welcome my guest at this time,
Sami Zayn.
Sami Zayn: It's good to be here, Michael.
Michael Cole: First I would like to say, I congratulate you for getting
the opportunity in the Gold Rush tournament, and now you are being
entered into the mid-card title short tournament. What are plans if you
win that championship?
Sami Zayn: Well, even though I came up short for the
Universal Championship tournament, I'm glad I still get the extra
chance to win the Mid-Card Championship which I plan on winning.
As far as plans go, there's really nothing else to say for plans because
I plan on putting on a show and giving the fans what they want.
Michael Cole: Speaking of coming up short on the Universal
Championship tournament, even during your match, your former best
friend was out there..Kevin Owens. He also had attacked you the week
before that as well.
Sami Zayn: The thing about Owens is that, he just always
comes out trying to make himself look better than everybody else.
That night he specifically wanted to look better than me. He thinks
he's better than me. And that's absolutely fine.
Michael Cole: Sami, you two do have a huge history together.
You two were known as the best of friends back then. Is there a
reason why you're not anymore?
Sami Zayn: ..Kevin Owens. He's a man who's possessed. Not
only possessed, but obsessed. And the obsession is not being the best.
His obsession is being better than me. Ever since day one, I saw a look
in his eyes that I saw that, that he had this drive to be on the very top
of the mountain. And then things started to change when we went into
the business together. Because before, our goal together was going
to be on the top of the mountain together. But now, every time I see him,
every time he comes out there just to distract me, every single time
he attacks me, the look I see in his eyes are not the same man I saw
every single day before. Not only does he want to be on top of the
mountain anymore, no. He wants to be on top of the mountain while he
has my head hanging from his hands. So I congratulate him advancing
on into the tournament. But I can say this. Even if he makes it to
Summerslam into the finals, even if I make it to the mid-card
championship finals at Summerslam, Kevin Owens and I will meet
at Summerslam one way or another. Because there's no way I'm
letting him walk up that mountain by himself.
