Humans and Kitsusagi

As written in the story of the Kitsusagi, please note that the majority of Kitsu do not live around humans. Instead, they have retreated back to the wilderness where they originally came from. The continent shown on the Kitsusagi map in general has few large human settlements. There are a few towns scattered around, but no central government and not many bonds between the human settlements other than trading agreements.

For the most part, humans and Kitsusagi avoid one another. Several human towns have legends about Kitsusagi that warn people away from interacting with them - mostly inspired by the dangerous Nightmares. However, other towns have exactly the opposite legends, claiming that - though mysterious - Kitsusagi are a force for good and can help humans when they choose. These legends are likely the result of interactions with Angelics or Seraphim.

There is one somewhat remote area where humans and Kitsusagi choose to cooperate and live together. This is the Kitsusagi Headquarters. It is centered around a town populate by humans, with the surrounding area settled by those Kitsusagi who are comfortable around the two-legs. Some Kitsusagi even choose to live in the town along with human companions. Most other humans, even though some may know of trade agreements with Headquarters, regard those who live there as being very very strange.

Technology

Technology is at the level of the steam-era after the humans more or less destroyed their world and were forced to start over. There are a few railroads going between major human towns but no automobiles. Short-distance travel is accomplished by beasts of burden (horses, mules, etc). Aside from this, riding a train as a passenger is horribly expensive and trains are universally small and mostly used for cargo transportation. There is a single passenger-only train and it is considered a rare luxury and treat to ride on it.

Kitsusagi, for the most part, do not like the trains. They are loud, stinky, and the tracks cut through the natural environment too much for their liking. There is no train station or tracks near enough to Headquarters for the Kitsu who are actually used to humans to be familiar with it. However, there are a few wild Kitsusagi who don't mind the trains - there are even tales of some who hitch rides on the cargo trains from place to place.

Cosplays, How do they fit in?

For the most part, a Cosplay Kitsusagi is considered to be a Kitsusagi that is wearing a costume of some kind. They seem to randomly show up and no one really understand how or where they come from. If they begin as an egg or baby, the egg or kit is most often found in a hidden location and it's unknown how it go there. Most of these Kitsusagi appear near the Headquarters, even if they later choose to move elsewhere.

Some Cosplay Kitsusagi may recall bits and pieces of the world the character they are dressed as comes from, such as allies, friends, enemies, plot, etc. Most do not remember everything and all are aware they are not actually the character they are dressed as. So it can be fairly confusing to have these memories and some choose to disregard them and start over completely. It is theorized that something about the magic that brings them to the world of Kitsusagi imbues them with memories and abilities associated with the character they are based on. But nothing is known for certain.

Cosplay Kitsusagi who appear with technology beyond that of the Kitsusagi world can still make this technology work - but what powers it is beyond their understanding. If something runs on batteries for example, the Kitsu would believe that it runs by some kind of magic. The batteries would never run out and they wouldn't need to try to find more. Any abilities associated with technology like this are also considered to be some kind of strange magic.
