Kent raised an eyebrow when Ilima's bracelet started glowing and he struck a weird pose. He then dropped his jaw and he watched as the Gumshoos get enveloped in a brilliant aura and charged straight at Exeggutor with an attack Kent had never seen before. When the dust cleared it revealed Exeggutor knocked out on the ground. Kent returned it to its Pokeball, a blank, dazed expression on his face. "That was... That was... AMAZING!! What was that?! Alola never ceases to surprise me!" Kent blurted out.
After a moment Kent snapped back to it and drew another Pokeball off his belt. "But this battle's not over yet. Let's see what you can do, go Sunny!" Kent said as he threw the ball into the air and released his newly caught Rockruff.

As he stepped over a hole in the ground, Hayes looked back over his shoulder in the direction where he could hear the sound of battling - it sounded like it was an intense challenge, if he could still hear it from as far inside the cavern as he'd gotten from wandering around... but part of that, Hayes realized, was that he hadn't encountered or even heard any wild Pokemon yet. The silence was almost unnatural, only punctuated by an occasional noise from the ongoing battle, and it made the walking in the dimly lit cavern a bit unsettling on his own... although part of that involved knowing about the second trial that was somewhere in the cavern.
"Whatever it is, anyway..." Hayes murmured to himself as he turned away from the sounds, before he continued on. "Not that I mind not knowing, I guess, since it'll be even better when I do wander across it." He added after a bit of walking, shrugging his shoulders and looking around at his surroundings before it clicked he'd been talking to himself. There wasn't anyone around to have seen him, but it made him realize he didn't have to be; the cavern was the best spot he'd found on Alola for at least one of the Pokemon he had on him.

"What do you say, huh?" Hayes asked as he removed one of the balls from his belt, holding it up in front of him. When it didn't look like he'd be getting an answer from it, he released the Pokemon inside it onto the ground in front of him near a speckling of light from an opening in the cavern's ceiling, watching as the dragon-type materialized before him in a bright light.
"Gooo~" Goomy answered, looking around at the different (and much more desirable) surroundings after it had. The cavern wasn't nearly as hot as everywhere else he'd been on Alola, especially not as far in as he'd gone, and as an added bonus it wasn't in the sun. A perfect little spot for the gooey Pokemon who had always preferred damp places. "Oh, well that sounds positive." Hayes smiled, crouching down after a moment and watching the little blob as it looked around. Goomy still looked a bit moody, he thought, but that didn't stop it from appreciating being out from under the sun and back in a cavern instead.

Hayes asked for a second time, walking behind the gooey dragon as it slid across the ground and continued ignoring him. While it had appreciated being let out inside the cave, it had promptly started ignoring him not long after... and it wasn't like he'd return it to its Pokeball already, so all he could do was stroll along with it. It was still happy to be in the cave, though, so he didn't mind - it wasn't like he had anywhere in mind to go inside the cavern.
"Well, I guess it's alright as long as you don't lead me into trouble." He said after a while, when it became apparent the Pokemon wasn't going to answer him. "It'll give me some time to figure out what's gotten into you, you were in a good mood before..." Hayes murmured, scratching behind one of his ears as he did. Before he could get far in unraveling the mystery behind Goomy's mood, however, a nearby light caught his (and Goomy's) attention after they'd climbed an incline in the cavern. Unlike the light from above, this was coming from an opening in the wall and looked like it led outside.

-shakes head- He was so young... Unfortunately I can't feel too much pity because my picky dragon tamer Vince hates the fact that alolan exeggutor got a dragon typing, so he's all too happy to watch them burn. = v= He was only just getting over mega ampharos, but this was even worse for him.

Ilima was amused by Kent's enthusiasm. "That, was what we call a Z move. If you beat me, I will give you this power. A fitting reward, no?" He suggested with a light flip of a hand to brush his pink hair back behind his ear. With the exeggutor down, Kent next sent out a rockruff named Sunny, possibly newer to the team than the others, given what Kent had suggested. "Pursuit!" Ilima commanded, and the gumshoos charged forward with a dark aura, hitting the rockruff with a bit more force than usual due to having anticipated the rock type's arrival with his stakeout ability.

Think I did the math there, can never be too sure vs gym leaders.
Ilima explained that the incredibly powerful move he had used was called a Z-move, and that he'd show Kent how to use them if he won. Kent punched his fist into his open hand and cracked his knuckles before nodding in agreement with a determined smirk. "Sounds good to me!"
Ilima then commanded his Gumshoos to use Pursuit, which hit his Rockruff a lot harder than he had expected. Sunny took the hit, sliding back a bit but held her ground. Kent threw a fist up in the air in celebration. "Atta girl, Sunny! Now it's our turn, use Bite!" Kent commanded. "Ruff!" Sunny barked in response before running forward and latching onto Gumshoos with her sharp little teeth.

"Ooh~" Hayes breathed after the two of them had gotten closer to the light's source. "Do you think... uh, Goomy? Where'd you..." He began, trailing off when he noticed the Pokemon he was trying to talk to wasn't where it had been a second earlier, but it didn't take long before he found it heading on ahead and ignoring the hole in the cavern's wall. "...go. Oh, don't be like that, lets go and check it out." Hayes sighed, but it listened to him after a moment of hesitation and turned back around, rejoining him where he'd stopped by the opening. "Goooooooo...." Goomy groaned. "Don't be like that, come on; we'll be back inside the cave in no time at all." He reasoned, trying to get the Pokemon on board with the idea, and when it didn't audibly disagree he led them through the exit.
It led them outside into a small clearing, although one that was still surrounded by natural walls that would make it near impossible to climb out of the clearing. Not that he'd planned on trying, anyway, because as soon as he'd adjusted to being outside in the sun again he started to feel like he was being watched. Hayes looked around warily, but when it looked like it was only his imagination he turned back to Goomy who had already gone on ahead.
"There we go! I knew you'd get over going outside - you're already..." Hayes started up, glad to see it doing something besides sulk, but a low growl distracted him from finishing his sentence. "...did you hear that?" He asked, but it's surprised expression answered that for him.

I wasn't sure about when allies are called into battle, so I went with how it worked in-game (at the end of turn) because that made the most sense... if that isn't how it works let me know as I'll have to edit it.
"SHOOOOOOS~~!"
A loud cry reverberated around the clearing, originating from above where Hayes and Goomy were on the ground floor. Hayes almost jumped from the suddenness of it, while Goomy had brought itself over to his side as soon as it had heard the noise before it looked around for the cause of it. He looked down at the Pokemon at his side first, to make sure it was alright, before he turned his eyes in the direction where he'd heard the noise - the ledge above them. All he was able to see, however, was something standing upright and looking down at them as whatever it was it had the sun at it's back. It didn't do anything else for a few seconds until it abruptly jumped off the ledge and landed a short distance in front of the two of them.
Hayes instinctively reached behind his back to grab a Pokeball as he stared at the Totem Pokemon, which hadn't stopped looking at him since it'd hopped down. While it wasn't a large Pokemon, it did remind him of a wild Pokemon he'd encountered in Hau'oli and so it looked bigger than he'd have expected, if they were of the same species... as well as more intimidating. He could feel his heart racing as they both held each other's eyes, seconds stretching into what felt like minutes until a cooing at his side distracted him and he looked down.
"...gooooo..."
"Oh hey, don't worry." Hayes said in an attempt to ease it's mind, trying to ignore the wild Pokemon that was still looking at him. "Probably isn't even interested in us? Or... it's friendly?" He continued, although he didn't believe what he was saying and it didn't look like the gooey dragon did either... but it looked liked it appreciated the attempt all the same as it looked up at him in response. Unfortunately for them, the Totem Pokemon didn't.

Allies are called at the end of a battle, but switching does take priority like in the games. Also, Magnemite wouldn't have taken that extra quick attack from rattata because switching in due to a pokemon fainting for the guild basically refreshes everything. Also, if you could please label your rounds in the future, that will make it easier for mods to look over them. Otherwise, your trial is approved!
Leader Ilima
Ilima was somewhat surprised by how quickly his gumshoos was knocked out by the smaller pup, but she supposed he had taken more of a beating than he realized. Nevertheless, Ilima was willing to accept this defeat, clapping his hands together slowly as he gazed at Kent with a spark of interest in his eye. "A wonderful battle. Congratulations." He commended, returning his Gumshoos, pulling a small booklet out of his bag and pressing his stamp inside. He slipped an HM in as well before closing it and handing it over to Kent. "Here you are, the first of many stamps I'm sure." He nodded, before offering a bracelet with a normalium z already in place. "Now, a promise is a promise. Put this Z bracelet on, and I will show you how to use it's power." Once Kent was ready, Ilima performed the series of movements for Kent again. "When bound to a pokemon with a normal type move, that sacred dance will activate your power, and test the limits of your bond. It is sacred to the Alolan people, and it's not often that we teach outsiders. Once upon a time, the each island's guardian deity gave these bracelets out to a chosen few, but as of late, they seem to be in hiding, and the task has fallen to us gym leaders to carry on the tradition, but I believe you will treat it with the respect it deserves." He nodded, turning to head out of the cavern. "Good luck Kent~ I look forward to seeing how you progress. You may want to check on your friend, the totem pokemon can be... Ah.... Vicious." With a small wave of his hand, he left, making his way out to the pokemon center to heal up his team.

Kent breathed a sigh of relief as he watched Ilima's Gumshoos faint from Rockruff's Bite attack; he wasn't sure how much more his team could take after that Z-move. He wasn't sure it was over until Ilima began clapping his hands and congratulating him on the wonderful battle. Kent chuckled as he rubbed the back of his head. "It was a tough fight, though I did have the advantage of more Pokemon." Kent said with a laugh before taking the stamp book from Ilima, as well as a strange stone bracelet. As Ilima explained how Z-moves worked, Kent slipped the bracelet onto his left wrist. Ilima then showed Kent the proper dance to use the Normalium Z he had just received, and slightly embarrassed, Kent mimicked the dance. Ilima then turned to leave the cavem but not before wishing him good luck and advising he good look for Hayes since the Totem Pokemon was rather vicious. Kent nodded and before jogging off to the back of the cave he waved Captain Ilima off, his new Z Bracelet catching the stray light in the cavern.. "Thanks for everything, Ilima!"

The Totem Pokemon had been ignored for long enough, apparently, and it let loose another roar that wasn't at all like what you'd expect from a Pokemon of it's size in order to make it clear that it didn't like it."SHOOOS~~!"It roared, stomping in place and glaring at the trainer and Pokemon ahead that ignored it. The idea that the wild Pokemon might've been friendly hadn't been very likely, but he'd still hoped.
"...okay, Goomy, it's not friendly." Hayes admitted after he'd heard the second roar, looking over at the Pokemon while he spoke. "But it's alright, its not like we haven't... battled...?" He started, about to introduce the Pokemon into the battle until he'd looked and found the dragon-type inching away from him and the Totem Pokemon and looking like there wasn't a chance it'd battle. He frowned, wondering what'd gotten into it (besides the intimidating Pokemon in front of them) but figuring it wasn't the time to get to the bottom of it as the wild Pokemon was still looking at him and he didn't think he had long before it started doing more.
"It's still alright... like I was saying, it's not like I haven't battled before." Hayes murmured to himself, reaching back behind his back to pluck one of the Pokeballs from his belt. He knew it was true, and he'd even battled on Alola already, but there was something about the wild Pokemon in front of him that had him wary. "Alright, Scyther, you're up!"" Hayes shouted, unclipping it's ball and throwing it in the space between himself and the wild Pokemon. Gumshoos appeared to stop it's stomping as it watched the Pokemon materialize in front of it, and it made him wonder if it was simply an impatient or irritable Pokemon.
"Scyyyyyyytheee~~" It hissed, looking at the unknown Pokemon in front of it before glancing back at Hayes who nodded at it. The bug-type was one of his stronger Pokemon and more inclined to battle than his others.

"It's all you, Scyther, because I don't think we're getting any help from our gooey pal on this one." Hayes smiled at the Pokemon, who returned the gesture with a nod of it's head as it spotted the little dragon nearby before refocusing on the wild Pokemon in front of it. "Lets use... Vacuum Wave!"" He ordered once he'd noticed it had focused on it's opponent. The bug-type wasn't just one of the stronger Pokemon he had, it was one of the fastest, so he'd expected it to get off to a fast start as always... but that wasn't what happened. As soon as it had pulled it's arm back, Gumshoos sprung forward and chomped down on it with it's teeth, landing it's attack before Scyther followed through with it's own and hit it as well. "Scyth-!" Hayes started to shout after it'd been hurt, but found himself interrupted by the wild Gumshoos' own voice as it called out, it's cry echoing around them.
"shoooooooos~~!"
In comparison to it's earlier cries and roars, this one felt lackluster... like it wasn't trying to intimidate him or his struggling Scyther, but he didn't have any time to think about it as after a brief pause he could hear something else; another wild Pokemon. Wherever it had come from he didn't know, but it burst onto the grass where the two Pokemon were battling and glared at him and the bug-type, where an unfortunate lapse in concentration had both Hayes and Scyther look at the not-quite-Rattata for a moment too long. Hayes wondering if it was another Alolan variant of the Rattata's back in Kanto, and Scyther something similar... or maybe it had been surprised that a different Pokemon had arrived because of the Totem's call. Either way, Gumshoos took advantage of the distraction and promptly bit down on Scyther again until it had stopped its struggling and fainted.

Hayes shot a look back at Goomy who looked even more unwilling to be involved in the battle, although it was slightly more understandable given what had happened to Scyther. That had been unexpected and didn't inspire confidence going ahead in the battle, especially as another wild Pokemon had appeared. He turned around and grit his teeth, taking a different Pokeball from his belt and recalling his Scyther after he had the new one in hand.
"I know we haven't had too much to get to know each other yet, but..." He started to mumble to the Pokeball as he winded up on a throw. "...it's now or never, Magnemite!" Hayes shouted as he tossed the ball in between himself and the two wild Pokemon, who watched with interest as the new opponent materialized. The magnet floated in place after it had appeared before it turned around in the air, looking at Hayes and the wild Pokemon in turn. "Miiiiiite~?" The magnet Pokemon questioned, tilting itself at an angle as it turned back and looked at it's trainer, who couldn't help but perk up at the sight of the odd Pokemon and it's mannerisms.
"I need a bit of a hand here, Magnemite, think you can help?" Hayes asked, probably a bit too sheepishly for a trainer, but he hadn't had an opportunity to connect with the Pokemon yet except for on way over here. Magnemite looked at him for a moment, it's one eye staring at him without any sign of acknowledgement, before it answered. "Miiiiiite~!" It answered before rotating in the air in order to look back at the wild Pokemon.

An intense battle followed Hayes releasing Magnemite onto the scene, with the magnet Pokemon making up for it's slowness in comparison to Scyther with it's unmatched toughness its surprising power. While the Totem Pokemon would glare at it, or leap into the air and catch it in it's mouth, it wasn't able to dent the steel-type; and neither could the Rattata it had called in, which held it's ground admirably as it tackled the Magnemite until it fainted.
Hayes was more than impressed with Magnemite's durability, but he could tell it had exhausted itself in resisting all of the wild Pokemon's attacks, sinking closer and closer to the ground as it's damage accumulated. It had even been knocked down at one point, landing where Scyther had fallen earlier and squashing a berry it had been holding that it'd dropped after fainting; so when he saw an opportunity to switch it out for another Pokemon, he jumped at the opportunity and brought in Grimer.

Grimer was unfortunate, or maybe fortunate, that the battle unfolded like it did after he'd sent it out. The wild Gumshoos had attacked as soon as it had appeared and bit into it, which... wasn't the best idea, given what all Grimer are: sludge.
"S-sh-shoooooos!!" Gumshoos cried as it's eyes went wide and it realized what it had bitten into. There wasn't any way to get that taste out of it's mouth, however, and it had to settle for glaring at the Grimer while it tried. Grimer, on the other hand, apparently didn't appreciate the Totem's reaction (or maybe being bit) and promptly hit it in the face, knocking the Pokemon out in a single blow. Hayes hadn't even needed to order it to do anything.
"Griiiiiiiiiiime." Was all it had said as it struck the Totem Pokemon, before turning towards Hayes and the Magnemite that was still levitating beside him and looking at them with a curious expression on it's face. Wondering why it had been called out, maybe. "Miiiiite!" Magnemite answered, drifting over towards Grimer and putting itself at a different angle than earlier as it circled around the Pokemon.
"Oh... you don't even know what you did, do you Grimer?" Hayes asked, holding back a bit of laughter as he watched the two Pokemon with amusement. That had been even more of a challenge than he'd thought it would've been at the beginning, and he didn't know how it would've gone if he didn't have the two Pokemon in front of him. Without them, and Goomy unwilling to battle, it would've all been up to Ditto after the wild Pokemon had dealt with his Scyther. The two of them stopped and looked at him after he'd spoke, and he walked up to them and gave them both a rub on their heads - the feel of warm metal on one hand and sludge on the other.
