Tay nodded her head, tightening her hug on the Cosmog. "Why don't you join us? We're exploring. Maybe you'll run into that man and the sol-gal-e-o if you're with us? Though.... Would you mind if I caught you? You know, made you officially mine... for the time being." The Cosmog seemed hesitant, as if uncertain. "You do owe Tay, quite a lot." Avikna reminded it. "She did risk herself to save you." The Cosmog's gaze seemed to widen. It let out a frustrated sigh, but bobbed it's body regardless. Avikna had it there. Rather overjoyed, Tay grabbed a ball from her bag, and pressed it to the Cosmog's surprisingly solid body. A moment later, it was drawn inside the ball... after a few shakes it pinged, signaling a capture. Tay then released it from the ball, holding it in her arms once more. "I'm so happy you decided to travel with us." The teen exclaimed. "I can't wait to get to know you better." Tightening her hug on the cloudy Pokemon, Tay then looked up to Avikna. "Avikna. Can we go challenge the Trail now? I just know I can beat it now!" Avikna witnessed a fine spark of courage and excitement in the teen's eyes. This wasn't arrogance, but confidence. "You sure?" Tay bobbed her head. "I'm sure!" Looking to Chibi, the teen reached forward a hand to rest on Chibi's shoulder. "Do you and Saru want to come along too? You're going to take on the trail also aren't you?" She questioned, looking up to Saru, who in the distance was dealing with a Spearow.

Then again most pokemon were capture out of the wild with little concern for their personal opinion on the matter. In fact, he wasn't even sure if any of his own pokemon had been wild at one point or if they had been raised by humans. He was fairly certain Ceaser had been bred and raised by humans but he couldn't provide any evidence to support his assumption. All the same, he was equally intrigued by the odd little puffball of a pokemon as well as the humanoid canine Avkin'a had at her side. From its use of aura, Saru presumed this was the "Lucario" spoken of beforehand. It made sense.

Now it sat atop the young boys head still zipping away whenever hands come to close. "I don't think my Cutiefly alone could win me any battles." Chibi explained with a slight blush to his face. Tay tilted her head with curiosity to Saru's reply to Chibi's question. Quickly a smile spread across the teens lips. "Maybe you need more training?" She pondered, giving a warm smile to Chibi. Looking back to Avikna, the teen nodded. "I know I have to do things on my own in order to be as strong as Avikna. It's the same with you, right? Chibi has to think for Chibi, Tay needs to think for Tay." Avikna arched a brow at Tay's words. It was her turn to show curiosity. When did Tay turn philosophical like that? Maybe that school had taught her something worthwhile after all? Tay then ran over to Avikna, gripping a bit of her shirt in between her slender fingers. "I've thought for myself, and I want to take on the trail." Tay stated, a bit of assurtion in her tone. "Chibi, Saru... You can come too, if you want." She added, looking back with a smile.
Avikna wasted little time after Tay stated she was ready, while Avikna had her doubts about Tay's strength, a part of her also doubted her doubt. She'd see what Tay was capable of. It hard for her to place faith in anyone, even Tay. But she wanted to, deeply and sincerely. Taking a long swig from what remained of the bottle of shochu he had taken with him, Ducky approached the counter, managing to hold himself together as he asked for a room. He forced a bit of a smile as he took the key, quickly turning to make for his room in the pokecenter. Daiki remained awkwardly silent as he followed along; he wasn't even psychic type and he could sense something was up with his trainer. "Ah... Duckster, Katsu and I are gonna hit up a store. Do you want anything?" he offered, really using it more as an excuse to give his trainer some space. "...No. Go ahead." Ducky replied, opening the door to his room and heading in.
Daiki turned to Katsu, motioning for him follow him out. The disguised Solgaleo tilted his head, looking over to Dakota as he disappeared into the room with Lucina. "Dakota is... a very troubled young man." Katsu commented, turning back towards Daiki. The Zoroark re-illusioned them into less fancy disguises with a shrug, leading the way out. "Yeaaah... He prefers to avoid talking about it. I'm sure he'll be better after a nap or something." Daiki commented, stepping back outside with Katsu. Katsu frowned, his illusion's brows furrowing. That didn't bode very well for some reason, but the lion couldn't quite pinpoint why at the time, so he stuck by Daiki.
After Ducky closed the door to his room, he felt hot pinpricks of tears fight their way out to drip down his face. "Baka... I should have known better than to think i could help..." he mumbled to himself, raising the bottle of shochu to his lips for another swig. However, Lucina's hand stopped the bottle from ever reaching Ducky's lips. "I believe you have had more than enough, Dakota. You should know by now that drinking doesn't make your problems go away." Lucina told him, taking the bottle away. Ducky ran his hands up into his hair, unable to hold back the sob that choked it's way out of him. "He.... he wouldn't even let me help him... I should just give up, shouldn't I? I'm pretty sure that's what he's waiting for... Kare wa watashi no hon'nosukoshi shika kitai shite inai.." the suanni whimpered, tugging on his hair and moving over to flop face first onto his bed.
Lucina frowned, moving to dump the rest of the bottle - it wasn't much at this point - down the drain of the sink in the bathroom before moving to try and comfort Ducky. It was a difficult situation for her. She could feel the ache of Dakota's emotional pain that seemed to have deep roots. But now she also knew that Vincent also was a complicated issue himself. As much as she would love to just blame Vincent for all these problems; for how Ezra was, and for how Ducky was now too, she knew now that she could not. She still wouldn't forgive him for giving her sister a new name, however. "Dakota... please don't say such things. I'm sure you must be mistaken..." the gardevoir stood by the bed, trying to comfort the suanni. the raven haired male's body was quaking with sobs already, but she knew he could hear her over it. "W-watashi wa tada no musekinin'na arukōru chūdoku-sha de, kare no me ni wa mabaradesu..." he mumbled against the pillow through cries he attempted to hold back. Lucina frowned, taking a seat on the bed beside the suanni. "I have a feeling he might value you more than that, Dakota... he's just... complicated." she tried to console him. Unfortunately, it was no dice. Ducky had resigned to sobbing and blaming himself until he finally passed out, leaving Lucina sitting quietly to try to mull over the large amounts of emotions she had been exposed to in such a short period. To help Dakota, she probably should take the time to sort it out a bit. In the meantime, she pulled the blanket over Dakota, moving to a chair by the window to gather her thoughts.

The next morning, things were pretty much just as Daiki had explained to Katsu. Ducky slept late into the day, and when he woke up, he was more or less back to how he usually was. Well, at least that's how he seemed on the outside. After waking up, he had quietly taken a shower and dressed back into his usual clothes before leaving the room to get something to eat.
Daiki and Katsu had stayed out for the night to give the trainer some space, leaving Lucina to watch helplessly over him, at a loss on what to do. The gardevoir was still distraught over having met her twin who had forsaken her name for something else, as if it had meant nothing. And to see that she had joined none other than that Vincent that had been at the center of master Ezra's suffering, as well as a point of a lot of pain for her new companion. It was quite a lot for the emotion pokemon to take in all at once. It didn't help that she wasn't able to soothe Dakota last night, having been at a loss on what she could say. The entire situation was rather muddled from all angles.
Ducky quietly sat down with a small breakfast in the cafe, being joined by Daiki and Katsu first, before Lucina finally caught up. "I've got to get moving to Iki Town." Ducky commented finally, a hint of tiredness in his tone.

Leaving the Cavern behind, Avikna quickly thought of their next destination. They were to fly to the next island, to take on the next trial for Tay and collect the second 'badge' for herself. Releasing Arietty and Mave, she turned to Tay to instruct the girl to get on Mave's back so they could leave, but it appeared the teen had other plans. Avikna caught the young girl staring back into the cavern, a rather forlorn look in her eyes. "Don't get attached so easily." The red-head stated firmly. Tay's gaze broke, looking up to Avikna. "It's not that." She replied. "I do feel bad for just leaving them like that, but..." She stopped herself, her face contorting into the look of deep thought. Avikna quirked a brow. "Whatever the reason, we have our own paths to follow. Namely going to the next island." Avikna interrupted. Tay then looked back up and nodded. "Yea, you're right, Avikna. Though..." The teen then looked down at herself. "Will we be able to find me new clothes on the next island?" She asked. "What do you mean, of course we can." Unless of course the people on the next island didn't wear clothes... or solely made clothes only for themselves. No, that was a ridiculous thought. Tay seemed convinced at least, even if Avikna now had some doubts.
The teen quickly moved over to Mave's side, greeting the wolf. 'It's nice being out in the fresh air again. I feel really rejuvenated.' The wolf stated with a grin. Arietty grumbled her agreements. They'd been slumbering in their pokeballs for what felt like months, and it felt good to stretch their wings again. Though as Tay mounted Mave, and Avikna turned to climb onto Arietty's back, the Cosmog in Tay's arms began to make a fuss. "What's wrong, Madeen?" Tay asked. The floating ball whatever it was flew forward, going to the top of Mave's head, it's eyes held firm on a distant figure. The sensation in the air... it was practically making his blood boil. 'No time to chat, we're off!' Mave stated abruptly, launching herself into the air. The ball of whatever flew backward, unable to combat the sudden vacuum of air as Mave took off. Arietty took off right after, and despite the protest of the Cosmog, they were heading straight for Akala Island.

Route 2 of Melemele Island was just as sunny and vibrantly lush as the rest of the island that Elena had been to so far. Several other trainers hung around along the sides of the roads chatting and occasionally battling with one another for practice. A small part of her debated asking to join in on the fun, but perhaps that would be better for a different time. A welcome breeze rolled through the mountains as Elena and Egan headed uphill, taking in their surroundings together.
"Oh, there's a berry field here?" Elena pointed off to their right as she spoke, gesturing in the direction of a little sign announcing the presence of the field as they walked by it. "Should we stop by it? I bet they sell some berries, and those are always useful," she said, suggesting they take a moment to check out the little farmlike area. While not as populated as Hau'oli City, Route 2 certainly had more going on than Route 1 did. Further up the hill, Egan spotted what looked to be a motel, while off to his right he saw a sign leading to the local cemetery. Egan wrinkled his nose a bit at the thought of trainer's traipsing through a cemetery just to find some of the ghost pokemon that "haunted" them. He'd personally never been a huge fan of ghost pokemon; sure they had their uses with being able to go invisible and go through walls, but they were a bit too mischevious for his liking. Besides, it felt wrong, even for him, to be rooting around in a cemetery for personal gain.

Sure enough, there was a large fenced off area containing a variety of fruit-bearing trees and bushes. "Sure, why not?" Egan replied, "It can't hurt to stock up. Besides, I wouldn't mind having a few Pecha berries on hand for myself." Having readily available fruit was one of the few things that Egan enjoyed about the summer months, allowing him steady and cheap access to Pecha and Lum Berries. The pair strolled up to the farm-like area, with Egan stopping and inspecting the berries in passing. He was surprised to see Persim berries growing, as well as a variety of other berries that were traditionally out of season right now. "I guess that's why people live here," he said, pointing to a Persim bush. "It looks like the soil lets them grow whatever they want year round. Seems they have a pretty nice crop too." Egan had to admit, he admired the work the farmers were doing. Elena kept pace with Egan as they both headed into the berry field. She could smell the freshness of the area that was provided by the plants as she breathed in the clean air. Egan mentioned the soil in the fields, prompting a curious glance at the dirt from Elena. "You know, when I was little I always wanted to be a berry farmer," she mentioned softly as a sheepish giggle escaped her. She turned her eyes back to the little path they were walking down. It felt childish to admit such a silly fantasy aloud to someone who was still very much a stranger in many ways. She carried on to explain, "I got the crazy idea from that popular farming simulation game." Now that Elena was older, it was easy for her to see that taking care of berries in a game was easier than actually having to do the work of planting, watering, and taking consistent care of the berry bushes. This, of course, made the idea of actual berry farming far less appealing.
"You covered lunch. I'll cover this." It wasn't a question. Elena walked over to a little stall where a farmer sat collecting payments to allow trainers to pick their own berries straight from the bush. She paid for two of the baskets, smiling happily and interacting politely yet efficiently with the seated man, and then headed back to Egan before handing him a basket. "He says we're cute together, do we match aesthetically or something?" Elena questioned. She was joking, of course. She knew what the farmer had meant by the statement, but teasing Egan had proved to be an enjoyable pastime. "Mhm, anyway; fill your basket and then we'll get going."

Egan's hand wrapped around the handle of the wicker basket Elena had offered him before he stopped and glanced back at the old smiling old berry farmer who was waving at him. "He said what?" Egan glowered at the old man. He wasn't sure whether he took more offense at being called the girl's father by the waitress earlier or her elder lover by the farmer. On the other hand, maybe he didn't mind being paired off with the girl, at least in some passerby's mind, Elena was certainly cute. Egan decided that there was nothing to be gained by pushing the issue with either party and let the comment go.
Egan did, however, feel a slight pang of guilt running through him as he took the basket. It was true, he had "bought" lunch for the two of them, but it hadn't been with his own money. He shrugged off the guilt, deciding that it'd all even out in the end and that it would be best to just enjoy the gesture. "Thanks for the offer," He said as he knelt down to a Pecha bush and plucked a few of the ripe berries from their stems before dropping them into the basket. He felt one of his fingers sink a little too far into the flesh of one of the berries, a sign that he'd carelessly used too much force. Rather than dropping the fruit into the basket, Egan cleared the edible flesh from the berry with his teeth before tossing the pit back into the thicket of bushes.
Egan turned and offered one of the berries to Elena. "Were there any berries in particular that you wanted to grab befo-" Egan asked, stopping when he heard a rustling in the bushes before him. The agitated branches shook more before a wild pokemon lept out, knocking him firmly on his rear. Standing before him was a lithe, tan pokemon with a row of sharp teeth and a prominent yellow crest atop its head. The Pokemon hissed angrily at Egan as he reached for his Pokedex and Popo's Pokeball.

Elena moved to collect her own berries as Egan did as well. Dainty fingers grasped at the fruits, plucking them from their bushes and gently dropping them into the wicker container. Her olive gaze traveled over to Egan only to catch him eating a berry instead of placing it into the basket. That had to be against the rules. The farmers would lose profit if everyone came along and got more than what could fit in their basket after all. She prepared to scold Egan as he offered her a berry as well, but a little hiss from the bushes caused the both of them to pause. She pulled out her pokédex and scanned the offended looking pokémon before standing and stepping away. Yungoos. It wasn't interested in her but instead focused solely on Egan. He must have hit it when he threw the pit back into the bushes.
"Karma. Good luck."
With that said, Elena stepped away to a different section to finish picking her own berries.
She returned to Egan sometime later once his battle was over and it looked like his basket was getting full. "Have fun?" she questioned cheekily as she gently softly bumped the side of her hip against him to gather his attention. "I'm ready to go if you are," she confessed, motioning to her bag in order to suggest that she'd already put away her berries in her bag and taken the basket back to the old farmer. She waited for Egan to be ready as well before they both started back down the road on their way to Route 3.
"Sorry, by the way. I suppose I should've stuck around the make sure the Yungoos didn't rough up Popo too badly," she mused slightly before they had gotten too far down the dirt path, "but at the time I was sure that you could handle-" Elena's words came to a halt suddenly as she felt a hand firmly grasping her thigh. Her left arm swung out to smack Egan in the chest reflexively, thinking that it was him since he was the only human around. However, the firm hold on her thigh didn't cease as the older trainer was knocked away from her. Her right arm then swung out to meet the squishy flesh of a pokémon in the tall grass nearby. She squealed in a mixture of surprise and fear.
"Drowzee!" The wild pokémon protested to being hit as its hand broke away from her leg. It looked hurt, but then anger overtook it and Elena both.
"Mabel!" Elena called forth her Sylveon swiftly. The Drowzee made the first move, but with a fierce expression Elena gave a single, firm order and ended the battle. "Dazzling Gleam." Her voice was cold and unfeeling. A bright light lit the area briefly and when it faded the Drowzee was left laying on the ground, beaten. Mabel was ruthless when it came to defending Elena.
The white-haired trainer quickly used a potion on Mabel to fix her up while petting and praising the vulpine creature. She showed no care to the beaten yellow blob that lay near lifeless close by as it slowly dragged itself back into the grass. It'd be fine. Wild pokémon always were fine somehow. Elena turned her attention back to Egan when she was sure Mabel was fine again. "Um.. sorry for smacking you. I thought... I mean I assumed it was your hand that had grabbed me. My bad," she mumbled sheepishly.

"Yun.. Yungoos!" The pokemon cried, its hackles raising as a flash of light appeared in the air before it. As the light began to dim, the wild pokemon was facing a mirror image of itself. Egan quickly opened his Pokedex, registering the wild pokemon in the log. The device gave him a quick rundown of what he could expect from the weasel-like pokemon.
"Yuuuungoos", Popo cried as it turned, giving Egan a knowing glance.
The wild Yungoos didn't give Popo the chance to turn back and face it. Instead, it lunged and tackled Popo, driving him to the ground as their bodies intertwined into a mass of writhing, hissing limbs. Popo managed to kick the pokemon off, causing it to bound backward before Popo charged it and checked him with his shoulder. The enemy Yungoos glared back and Egan noticed Popo shudder under the enemy's leer.
"Shake it off Popo, you got this!" Egan called, retrieving a ball from his pocket. "Finish it off with Pursuit!" Popo obeyed, his lithe body tensing before lunging at the wild Yungoos, feinting a hit to the side before slamming the pokemon from behind, sending it tumbling forward onto the dirt feet away from Egan. "Good boy!" Egan cheered as Popo swaggered back over to his trainer before sitting at his feet and reverting back to his base form. Egan knelt down and patted the gelatinous pokemon on the top of its head. Egan turned his attention back to the twitched Yungoos before him, enlarging the ball in his hand before throwing it at the weakened pokemon. It should have been a sure catch. Should have been. The Yungoos thrashed quickly and swatted the ball away with its tail before it scrambled onto its feet. No longer caught between Egan and Popo, the wild Yungoos bolted back into the thicket of bushes.
Egan growled and kicked the now useless and cracked Pokeball the Yungoos had swatted away. He looked down at Popo who was staring at him. "Well," he sighed, "It was a good job anyway. Let's get you fixed up." Egan knelt down once more and slung his backpack off his shoulder. He rooted around in the bag for a few moments before producing a potion. After a few spritzes of the potion onto Popo's bite and claw marks, the wounds began to fade. Having taken care of Popo's cuts and scrapes, Egan returned him to his ball and went back to picking berries.
Egan was placing the last Persim berry from the bush in his now overflowing basket when he felt Elena brush up against him. He took the hint, gently emptying the contents of his basket into his bag before he returned the vessel to the farmer. He returned to Elena's side and the two made their way back to Route 2, briefly discussing Egan's encounter. "No worries," Egan began, "Popo was able to hold his -ow!" Egan recoiled as he felt the girls arm slap his chest. "What was that for?" He hissed, glaring at his partner. It didn't take him long to see what had caused her violent reaction; small yellow hand gripped the Elena's thigh. Elena swatted the pokemon away before siccing Mable on the lecherous Drowzee. The battle didn't last long, with Mable leaving the offending pokemon in a crumpled heap on the ground.
Egan grinned as Elena apologized for hitting him, explaining that she'd thought he'd grabbed her. "It's fine, just don't swing so hard next time!" Egan said, jokingly rubbing his "wounded" chest. To be fair, he had thought of pinching the girl a few times, but resisted. He'd been raised better. Besides, now he had another solid reason not to harass the girl; Mable would get him. "So," he prompted, seeing that Elna seemed to be ready, "Wanna head on to the next route? I don't see much else to do here."

If something changed he would interfere regardless of Avikna's protests, but it would seem such a situation had prevented itself. The girls own pokemon, with the use of a very lovely scent, woke Her. Chibi sighed and relaxed a little as Tay stirred from her slumber. Saru set a hand on the boy's shoulder and smiled. "See, what did I say." Chibi nodded with a faint smile of his own but was quick to point out the ripe in Tay's shirt. Chibi waited for a lag in the conversation to interject himself. "Umm Tay, if you need, I can sow that for you?" The boy offered. Saru was to busy dealing with a Spearow come to pester the group to remark on the boys offer.
