Shifting, Adder paused, then shook his head, his hands sort of... held together as he tried to think his way through the uncertainty. He could do this, it was fine. More importantly, he could always prepare more. He had all those TMs that Drey had.... admittedly given him. Not to mention some rare candies, hold items... he could train more if he needed to... He'd be fine. He took a deep breath, then started forward again, this time, with determination. He was going to go to the pokecenter to make sure everyone was healed up, then he would go through his items and get everyone ready.... and then he'd head in to challenge Ilima. And... maybe he'd check out the trials, while he was there....

Eying the entrance to verdant cavern, Adder... may be doubting himself. Well, not so much doubting himself, as reconsidering his plan. He'd seen a couple others go in, and honestly, he didn't really want an audience, especially when he was still so uncertain on everything. And what was more... he could always pick up his berries while he was here. Speaking of... He heaved a sigh and rolled his eyes a bit before releasing Crystal, who purred and smiled up at him. She flinched away immediately, though, as she seemed to catch odor of Lady, looking to the grimer as though taking great offense to her presence. "Deal with it, Crystal, she's a permanent member of the team," he informed the meowth, leaning down to pick her up. Oi... she was heavy. So heavy. He couldn't wait till she evolved and he could just be rid of her...

Doing his best not to struggle too damn much, Adder started back along Route 2, towards the berry farm. Kani might not have been, like... the actual berry guy, but he apparently rented (if that's what you could call using someone's resources without their permission...) some land just off those fields that was still fertile, and that he could connect a watering system to. Lots of kids still went to the main guy, but working with Kani had it's own benefits-- for one, you didn't have to interact with adults. For another, you could place specific orders, and request specific amounts. Whereas the guy with the field.... it was kinda just whatever was available. And for now, Adder needed 'specific orders'.

Moving around the gait of the berry field, peering through, and then shaking his head, Adder started looking for Kani's set up. It didn't actually take that long, as it turned out. There was a house, and past that, some trees, and in there was Kani. He There were several smaller trees somehow growing beneath the shade of the other trees--- what? Adder stopped and stared a moment, before shaking his head, and looking over at Kani. He was pretty sure berries benefited from sunshine, too.... or at least some of them. But, whatever. "Hey," he called out, getting Kani's attention while adjusting Crystal in his arms, absently petting her while the meowth happily laying against his chest with her paws on his shoulder, looking blissfully at the scenery behind them and... utterly ignoring Litten and Lady below.
Kani looked up from his phone. "Oh, Adder." Well that was one hell of a greeting. The blond stared a moment, then shifted, stepping closer. "Your b-berries are read-dy," Kani spoke up, cutting him off from asking, while putting his phone away, "B-but if you can wait a s-second, I can check if there are some m-more." Adder paused, still staring again. ".... How long?" he asked, frowning. Kani gave him a bland stare of his own. ".... A minute." Adder shrugged. "Alright.... fine," he conceded.

Adder watched Kani go off to check one of the trees, absently scratching behind Crystal's ear as he did. Kani was a.... a really strange guy. He and Adder had a sort of... mutual.... something. Acknowledgement? It wasn't friendship. More... shared similarities. Neither were particularly social. Neither were particularly happy or peppy. Neither enjoyed their personal space being invaded. Kani was much... sharper than Adder, though. There was something off about that guy. It wasn't just the kind of comics he read or anything, either -- though after noticing them a few times, Adder intentionally kept more distance from the guy. He was far from what you'd expect when you heard his stutter. Sometimes it seemed like, maybe, just maybe, he had some sort of anxiety or tension and that was part of why he was so high strung, but he wasn't... nervous, and he wasn't jumpy. He'd hit people for making fun of his stutter before. He wasn't a pushover. Adder was pretty sure he could be considered dangerous, but... he also was the guy with the berries. And he was pretty sure he hadn't actually ever attacked anyone or anything, despite what the rumors might have said...

Adder shifted and straightened up as Kani returned, looking at the bag in his hand, which he held out with a tilt of his head. "Here? What've you got to trade?" he asked, narrowing his eyes a bit. Adder blinked, shifted, then seemed to realize he had... sort of forgotten that part of this deal. "Oh.... Money," he replied, voice faltering a bit despite his attempt to put on a facade of certainty. Kani gave him a look, then rolled his eyes, and held out a hand. "Fine," he muttered, looking at the meowth Adder was holding. The tween set the pokemon down and the two negotiated a deal.
The moment he had the berries in his hand, he pulled one out, crouched down, and offered it to Crystal. The pokemon, looking flattered, took it, taking a bite and perking up in enjoyment. And then... thank Arceus... she began to glow. Adder sighed in relief and straightened. "Been working at that a while?" Kani asked, raising an eyebrow as they both watched her evolve. "Long enough..." Adder muttered. The light was just beginning to fade, and Crystal just beginning to look herself over, before Adder recalled her to her pokeball.
"They sure are ugly... Y'know, I heard Kanto Persian are a lot slimmer," Kani remarked, shoving his hands into his pockets. Adder shrugged. "Yeah. Anyway, thanks. See you," he remarked, waving a hand. Kani gave a nod of his head in farewell, before turning away. At least that was finally done....

Adder made his way back onto the main route, looking around, and once again trying, and failing, not to appear too suspicious. He shifted, pulling out his other pokemon's pokeballs so he could use the items he had, but blinked, staring when he noticed... somethign.... different... "You evolved?" Adder stared at what was now a Charjabug, not his Grubbin, frowning as if waiting for it to poof into its previous form. But, no... it had apparently evolved. He glanced off to the side, making a bit of a face. That was one of his stronger pokemon... but now that it had evolved, he didn't really need it. And instead, he could start training Lady. Even if she was weaker than the others, he could still at least try and trainer her, and he could have her watch and learn and battle any wild pokemon. Soo....
Twitching his nose a bit, and then thumbing it, Adder resumed what he was doing, and started using his items. Once he had everyone set... he went to the pokecenter, and deposited Charjabug and Crystal, and doing a bit of rearranging.

Sighing, Adder stood outside Verdant Cavern. He could see someone talking to Ilima when he'd poked his head in earlier, and now he... wasn't really feeling like waiting. Not to mention, Lady could use some training, standing around might let some people catch up to him, and he had a ton more pokemon to catch and find. Maybe he coudl go to some of the other regions, get some of the starters... maybe even battle a gym? He'd figure it out? He ran a hand back through his hair before turning around. Shoving his cap back onto his head, he started back towards Hau'oli City. He could just backtrack to where the train was, and easily move from region to region from there. That would at least give time to... everyone clearing out of the area.... hopefully....

Freddy stumbled back onto Route Two and was incredibly relieved. It had felt like he had been wandering around Hau'Oli Cemetery for an eternity. Worried about the health of his Pokemon, Freddy took a quick stop at the Pokemon Centre to heal them with the assistance of Nurse Joy. Once Freddy had also rested easy with a quick Komala Coffee, he embarked once more out towards Verdant Cavern. It appeared that neither Kent nor Hayes had stayed on Route Two which led Freddy to assume they were attempting to complete the Melemele Challenge. Freddy began to run up the Route as best he could considering how difficult it was to run in flip flops. Soon enough he felt the bristles of the long grass tickling his bare legs. His shorts were so comfortable, Freddy didn't realise that he was being stalked by a Pokemon through the long grass.

The ambush came from behind as the tall grass was parted and Growlithe leaped up towards Freddy, throwing out a flurry of embers around the immediate area. It barked several times at Freddy who was taken aback at seeing the Pokemon. Throwing out Archie's Pokeball, his Slowpoke was released into battle. With a long drawn out yawn, he prepared himself for battle. "Let's finish this and put a stop to this fire!" Freddy called out. "Water Gun!" With that, Slowpoke projected a blast of water around the area and into the Growlithe who stood fast for a second before being pushed back into the clearing she had made. Freddy decided to take a chance to catch the Growlithe, wondering about its status as a legendary type Pokemon. Eventually the Pokeball confirmed Growlithe's capture and Freddy once again made his way onto Verdant Cavern and his friends.

It’d honestly only been a bout a day since he’d last been on them, but Sullivan was happy to have his rollerblades on. Being on wheels just made travel smoother and it became even more apparent once they were out of the hustle and bustle of the city. It wasn’t long before he was speeding up and doing tricks, spinning around to go backwards, or doing the occasional little jig on the blades. It was fairly evident that he was a pro on these things; he’d been doing it for over a decade by this point. It was one of the many activities he’d engaged in to keep himself active.
Junpei kept a steady pace at his side, keeping his distance as not to get caught up in his trainer’s blades as he did his little tricks but close enough to alert him if necessary. In the meantime, Mana seemed to be enjoying herself, giving little hoots of excitement from both the breeze that was created at her trainer’s speed and the little bit of a roller coaster ride she received from his antics. Sullivan grinned, rather happy to see that the Rowlet wasn’t at all put off by his play. Good, the last thing he wanted to do was keep her cooped up in her ball if he didn’t need too. Alola was gorgeous, even pokemon deserved to experience it to the fullest.
Speaking of which, he needed to take a moment to figure out his next course of action. There was a lot to do; trials, ‘gym leaders’ to challenge given the newly installed pokemon league and of course, pokemon to catch. Of course, really, before he could do any of that, he’d need to train. Junpei was… relatively strong for a Rockruff but of course, Mana was fresh from the lab. It’d be a little bit before either were strong enough to handle a gym leader...

…which was perfectly fine with him. There was plenty to enjoy along the road to getting stronger and there wasn’t a rush to get it done. Sullivan perked up a bit as he felt a nudge at the back of his leg, glancing back to see Junpei nuzzling to get his attention. Soon the rockruff was pointing in the direction of Mana and Sullivan averted his gaze to see that the rowlet was fluttering away off towards some of the high grass that bordered the path.
The young man frowned, tilting his head some and moving to roll after the grass owl. Had she found something? It was rather hard to tell; though Junpei would’ve alerted him accordingly to it. Sullivan came to a halt just at the edge of the path, right before pavement faded to dirt and grass. Mana had disappeared behind the grass at this point, much to his chagrin. He couldn’t see anything going on, but the grass was rustling. What was she doing…

… Sullivan’s mind was focused on his curiosity, as he leaned in to try and get a better idea of what Mana was doing. It wasn’t long though before the owl sprung out of the confines of the bush, nearly slamming her trainer in the face. Sullivan gave a rather gruff yelp in response, rolling backwards and flailing a bit but managing to maintain his balance. He frowned, focusing back on the pokemon with a semi-scowl, though it quickly dissipated as he noticed something sparkly clutched in her beak.
Mana was flailing her wings wildly, clearly proud of her discovery. Sullivan reach a hand out, making a “Gimme” gesture at the pokemon to indicate she drop it. Mana stopped in her flailing, head pulling a full 90-degree tilt to the side in response. Sullivan frowned, making the gesture again, now kneeling. Her response stated the same, head tilted with the shiny object still clutched in her beak.

Was she just not understanding him? That was something he encountered when it came to communicating with pokemon. Without verbal cues to give a sort of “tone” to his actions, then often pokemon didn’t quite seem to pick up what he was putting down. Sure, that was only so often and given that pokemon didn’t speak ‘English’ per say, other methods of communication (especially body language) should’ve worked as substitute.
Or maybe Mana was just being stubborn. It wasn’t like he was giving her a full-on spiel in sign language. In fact, the motion was universal and indicated what he wanted so the fact that she wasn’t complying led him to believe to his later belief. With frown growing he made the grabby gesture with his hand and still… she stared.
