Even though they'd just left Heahea City, the memory was quickly left behind as Naomi was greeted by the lush wilderness of Route 4. It was different from the other routes he'd crossed, back on Melemele, and if it wasn't for the clearly marked path he might've been grown concerned that he'd get lost. He resisted the urge to snap a few, or several, pictures as they moved along, and instead placed his attention on Empress Jingū. She was, really, the only one who'd provide a substantial threat to this Lana and her water pokemon, so that meant he'd have to prioritize her training. "Jingū, are you ready to start training?" he prompted, not wanting to simply throw her out into battle. She nodded her head, then gave a spin, before taking a page from Tomoe's book and charging straight ahead into the tall grass to root out a wild pokemon.

Naomi hummed thoughtfully to himself, considering something, as he sprayed Jingū down to heal her wounds for a second time. The pokemon here... they weren't as strong as he originally thought, Jingū had easily taken care of both pokemon she came across. Sure, she was getting stronger because of them, in fact she'd busted out a new move during her first battle, but he didn't know if the effort she was putting forth was equal to the experience she was getting. "Jingū." Naomi called out to the pokemon, catching her before she could run off into the grass again. "Let us wait until we get to the next route, I think we will find stronger pokemon there." Jingū pulled herself back, understanding this, and joined Naomi at his side. She could wait that long!

Postponing Jingū's training until the next route, Naomi kept himself occupied by... putting a tie on Sousa. Of course, he did it for battle related reason, when he'd read the store description of the item he'd discovered that it helped strengthen the wearer in battle, but he still couldn't help but laugh as he looked over the Braviary after he'd put the accessory on. Sousa, keeping as stout as always, shook his neck as he got used to the new item before taking to the air once more. It was... odd, having clothes on, but he trusted his trainer to have a reason for putting this on. Or at least, he hoped he did, he'd been Naomi's pokemon for years now and he was keenly aware of how... unconventional the male could be. Naomi kept his head tilted as he watched Sousa, keeping his grin, and reminded himself to take a picture of his bird before the day was over.

☆ ☆【Leaving behind the hustle and bustle of Heahea, the mid-morning sun was bright above the horizon as Zoey and her crew crossed the city line and entered the wilderness of Route 4. Compared to the routes on Melemele, which were considerably well traveled and a bit less jungle-like, the plant life grew wild and thick here. The impression of winding paths between the tall grass and trees indicated the general direction to go, otherwise it was easy to see how one could get lost along the way. ”Ah, gotta love that fresh air,” the woman said with a grin, pausing momentarily to stretch a bit, ”Definitely looks like it’ll be a great day for trainin’.” Orpheus was inclined to agree, the lush plant life that grew around here was remarkable, and certainly far from what he was used to. He noted how some paths along the route forked in different directions yet seemed to lead to the same place, while others appeared to lead to complete dead ends.”Quite interesting, if somewhat confusing,”he remarked with a nod, glancing up to where Eir and Coltrane were walking ahead,”Make sure to not wander too far, you two. I imagine it would be easy to lose one’s way here.”The Rockruff yipped in affirmation, scrambling to keep up with Eir as she strode along at a leisurely pace.
”Heh, hasn’t even been that long n’ already yer startin’ to sound like me, Orph,” Zoey chipped in with a chuckle, gently tapping at the Pokeballs on her belt as she considered her options. Given that Storm had fought against Hala only recently, he would surely already be a fair bit stronger… It would probably be better if she focused on training up Viola first in that case, since she had yet to really start training with the Serperior.”So then, what would be our plan from here, Fraulein? Should we start our training here then?”the Zoroark inquired as he gestured around the area, curious to know if maybe this would be a good place to start or if Zoey wanted to keep pushing onwards to find areas with stronger Pokemon. ”Probably would be best to start here, I’m sure Storm wouldn’t have a lot of trouble against much stronger Pokemon but Viola hasn’t been trained up that much yet,” she explained with a thoughtful hum, ”So we should definitely start here and then work our way up from there.” As she spoke, she grabbed Viola’s Pokeball from her belt, tapping the button on the front of the capsule to call out the Serperior.
”Ya ready to start trainin’, Vi? We’re definitely gonna need yer help for the upcomin’ trial, lots of Water-types inbound for sure,” the woman asked, momentarily pulling off her bag and rummaging around in it for a few things.”Certainly~ I would be glad to be of ssssome usssse at lasssst,”the Grass-type chimed in with a warm smile, more than happy to finally have a chance to shine after being on the backburner for so long.”Sounds like she is quite excited, so I am certain that counts as a yes~”Orpheus confirmed with a nod, translating for the Serperior so Zoey could understand. The woman retrieved a couple of items from within her bag, the single Rare Candy that she had gotten from the crate Piper had brought with her and one of the Lucky Eggs from the little collection she had amassed. ”These should help out in the meantime, if ya don’t mind handin’ over the Leftovers in exchange for this,” she suggested, holding out the candy for Viola to eat and the little blue egg for her to take in exchange for what she already had on her. The Serperior delicately took the candy from her trainer’s hand and swallowed it down eagerly, being mindful of her sharp teeth as she did so, and relinquished her Leftovers for her shiny new Lucky Egg.
”Excellent, I promisssse I sssshall train my hardesssst,”Viola said confidently, straightening herself and giving a salute to her trainer with her tail before slithering off into the tall grass nearby in search of wild Pokemon to fight. Zoey walked along close by with Orpheus at her side, armed with potions in hand in case the Serperior found herself in a bit of a tight spot. Sure enough, her first fight against a wild Pikipek ended in a pretty close call, the vicious Peck attack from the little bird left Viola on the verge of fainting before she was able to take it down with a well-timed Aqua Tail attack. The woman quickly sprayed the Serperior down with potions to help her recover, just in time too as yet another wild Pokemon made an appearance. It was an Eevee this time, much to Zoey’s relief since that meant not worrying about more super effective moves being used against Viola. Hopefully this one would be a bit easier for the Serperior to handle… In the end, it was a much lengthier battle since the Eevees kept calling for help and summoning more of their kind to join in on the fight, but Viola ultimately overpowered all of them while keeping herself relatively healthy with Giga Drain until the last one fainted.】☆ ☆

☆ ☆【Zoey hummed softly as she sprayed Viola down with potions after the last of the chain of Eevees fainted, the Serperior hissing contentedly as she could already feel herself growing much stronger. ”Had a close call here n’ there, but yer doin’ great so far,” the woman praised with a warm smile, ”Probably won’t have to stick ‘round here for much longer, ye’ll likely be ready to take on any stronger Pokemon we come across up ahead at the rate we’re goin’ now!” Hopefully by then the Serperior would at least be strong enough to help them take on Lana and the Totem of Brooklet Hill, for now though they had to just keep pushing forward. Viola was definitely looking forward to growing even stronger, striking her best determined pose and surging forward into the tall grass to continue her training. Orpheus, on the other hand, couldn’t help but be fascinated at how readily so many Eevees were willing to answer their brethren’s call and come to their aid during that last fight.”How interesting… I do not think I have ever seen such teamwork among wild Pokemon before outside of attacking in hordes,”he spoke up, holding a claw up to his muzzle as he thoughtfully tapped his cane on the grass,”Why is it that it only appears to happen here in particular?”Alola just seemed to grow more and more interesting the further they explored around, the Zoroark was certainly looking forward to seeing what else the region had to offer from here.
”To be honest, I can’t say I’m entirely sure,” Zoey answered with a shrug, ”Think I remember hearin’ someone say that it’s probably ‘cause Pokemon here in Alola have more of a penchant of helpin’ each other out when they really need it. All things considered, I think it’s a bit strange that this sorta camaraderie only happens here, I sure as hell haven’t seen it anywhere else.” Really, one would think that Pokemon being able to call on their own kind for help would be more of a universal thing rather than just here in Alola. Then again, Alola wasn’t like most other regions, it should only be expected that Pokemon here would behave differently. Hell, even Kantonian Pokemon that had come over to the islands long ago had gradually adapted new Alolan forms to differentiate from their foreign counterparts and to survive in their new environments. While Zoey and Orpheus conversed in the background, Viola focused on finding more challenges within the tall grass to grow even stronger and prepare for the challenges ahead. Her answer came in the form of a pair of Lillipups, both of which she took care of with relative ease while sustaining little damage herself. Already she was beginning to see noticeable improvements in her strength and ability to take hits, though now it seemed that the Pokemon around here were no longer posing as much of a challenge as they had been before. Perhaps it was time to move on to more worthwhile training grounds from here…】☆ ☆

Hell there was quite a few Pokemon on her team that could use some training at one point or another… Still, she should try to take it a little at a time rather than stressing over training so many Pokemon all at once. Hopefully she would be plenty prepared to take on Kiawe when it came time to attempt his trial at the Wela Volcano Park, but for now she would just focus on their current goal and destination.
Hiking up the small hill the path went over, Orpheus glanced down towards a separate path that trailed down towards the west, carving a path between a couple of rocky crater-like structures filled to the brim with clear water. At the mouth of the path stood a blue-colored sign decorated all over with adorable drawings of Pikachu, reading out ‘Pikachu Valley’ in bright yellow, artistically stylized lettering.”Pikachu Valley, huh?”he inquired, pointing out the sign to Zoey as they approached the area close to the path. ”Yeah, it’s apparently some kinda sanctuary where loads of Pikachu hang out,” the woman answered with a soft laugh, ”Been here on a couple different occasions, the Pikachus that live there are pretty friendly and the guides who tend the place let ya pet and play with ‘em. They even have a big Pikachu-themed vehicle that seems to hold a lot of ‘em inside~” Rumor had it that no one really knew how many Pikachus lived inside that huge trailer, an infinite amount of them would appear to go in and out of the vehicle at any given time. Still, she often wondered what it was like in there, surely it was packed to the brim with thousands of the little electric mice Pokemon. Orpheus seemed intrigued at the idea of a paradise-like place dedicated only to Pikachu.”I do not suppose we would be able to see this Pikachu Paradise while we are here?”he asked, figuring that Zoey would want to keep progressing towards Brooklet Hill from here, as much as he wanted to actually see what this Pikachu Valley was like.
”Well, maybe not now, but we kinda do have to go back around towards Heahea in general anyways after Lana’s trials to get to the next one at the Wela Volcano Park. Route four is a rather small route, but for the most part the girls took their time traversing it's lightly wooded paths. "You should prepare for your trial." Avikna advised. Tay quickly nodded in response, reaching up to scratch Freya's head. "I know! Freya is super excited and so am I" Tay replied. Tethe and Elias also trailed behind rather excited. Tay knew little of what she was going to face, but of the information they did know, the next trial would have to do something with water-types. Tay swapped out Fenrir's ball to bring Tethe back to the party and quickly ran ahead to some tall grass. "We should train while we can!" Tay voiced, eager to find something to battle.
With luck, she managed to catch a Pikipek of guard. The bird turned with an angry expression. It had been trying to snatch a berry from a Crabrawler only for Tay's interruption to scare away the Crabrawler and it's meal. Tay was oblivious to this event, and eagerly motioned Freya froward. "Use Thundershock, Freya!" Tay ordered. Freya wasn't as eager, the mouse quickly hid behind Tay's neck. "Freya?" Tay inquired. "It's okay. It's just a tiny Pikipek, you can do it. Come on, you were pretty brave back in that scary mansion." Tay did her best to encourage Freya, reaching behind her head to grab the mouse. Once she placed Freya on the ground, she gave the mouse a smile and nodded. "I believe in you, Freya." The teen added .
She still wasn't to sure, but Freya turned toward her opponent nonetheless. The bird chirped in anger, feeling much more frustrated that this interruption was taking so long to be sorted out. With a quick shake of her fur, Freya leaped forward and with her eyes tightly shut she shot off a spark of electricity, which managed to meet it's target. The bird wasn't any happier being struck by lightning, so it retaliated with a quick Rock Smash. "You can do it Freya, just one more Thundershock!" Tay cheered. The mouse rose to her feet her eyes fixated on the angry Pikipek. With her eyes shot once more, she unleashed a second bolt of lightning from her cheeks. It struck it's target and finally fainted the bird. "Yay! See Freya you did it!" Tay smiled. Running over she quickly spritzed Freya with a potion where she was struck at. The mouse smiled, but her heart was beating a mile a minute.

As Tay returned the potion bottle to her bag, she happened to notice something sparkling in the sunlight overhead. "Hmm... Freya, look." Tay voiced, pulling out a sparkling stone. A green crystal with a small yellow mark that looked like a lightning bolt at it's core. Freya's eyes widened and she stepped up a bit closer. "A Thunder stone." Avikna pipped in. "It'll make you evolve." The red-head continued. Freya seemed to shrink away at this thought, but it quickly changed it's mind and moved in even closer. "It's up to you Freya, I like you how you are... but maybe you'll be stronger and more confident?" Tay mentioned. Freya took a moment, looking between Tay and the stone. The mouse... wanted to protect Tay... she wanted to be strong. Maybe... maybe this would do that for her?
Stepping up the mouse reached a paw forward and hesitantly rested it down upon the stone. It took but a moment before the stone began to crack and it's colour began to drain. Freya in the meantime began to glow and grow bigger... taller. With the light engulfing her body faded, she was roughly Elias' height. Avikna arched a brow, confused by this evolution. "Now that doesn't look familiar." The red-head mentioned. "It doesn't? Did something go wrong?" Both looked up at Avikna with concern. Avikna rose her hands. "I- check the Pokedex." She stated, motioning to Tay. "Oh!" Remembering that she had given her Pokedex to Tay, the teen quickly fished it out and let it scan Freya. The device did as it was meant to do, and told them information on Freya's new evolution. "Alola form?" Tay thought. "Oh, so this is what Raichu look like in other places!" The teen explained, showing Freya. "I like your form better." Hiding the dex back in her bag, she reached forward a hand and began to pet Freya's head. The mouse smiled widely and came in rub her body into Tay's.
This joyous occasion was quickly interrupted however when another Pikipek appeared from the berry tree overhead. It spotted it's fallen companion in the dirt and quickly put two and two together. It came down quickly, going in to attack Avikna with it's beak, but Freya noticed. Without much thought the mouse leaped into action. Swinging her tail down under her feet, she seemingly by instinct, flew up on her tail and punched the bird mid-air with a fist engulfed in electricity. The force of her punch send the bird flying clear into the berry tree. "Woaaaah!" Tay exclaimed, standing up with a jump. "That was amazing Freya!" A male... rather condescending voice followed the snicker. "Pfft, as if. I bet you wouldn't last two second in a battle against my Pokemon." The male continued. Both Avikna and Tay turned their gaze to the owner of the voice. Standing not to far away was a young male.... perhaps about the same age as Tay. At his side stood a young Jangmo-o and Drampa. On his shoulder a Noibat semi-hid. Avikna angled her head a bit at the boy. Tough talk, for someone with baby dragons. Then again, he wasn't challenging Avikna. Lowering her gaze to Tay, the teen held a sour expression. She wasn't to keen on being talked down to. "Well?" Avikna voiced. Perhaps now would be the time she tasted defeat... not that Avikna was wishing for that. "Are you going to let him trash talk your Pokemon?" The red-head continued. Tay's frown grew even more fierce. "No." She replied. "Take that back!" Tay demanded, stomping her foot. "Make me!" The boy replied, motioning forward his Jangmo-o.
The battle was rough, in more ways than one... but after much give and take Tay emerged victorious. Freya had fainted during the fight... having been doped by one of the Noibat's douplegangers brought upon by Double Team, but Elias swiftly dealt with the bat in the end. Avikna in the meantime did a little memory checking.. his Dragons were indeed babies based by their move pool. Even still, he did give Tay somewhat of a run for her money. "Pfft, whatever. You got lucky." The boy voiced as he called back his fallen Noibat. Tay herself collected her Freya in her arms. "I lasted more than 2 seconds so take back what you said about my Pokemon." Tay demanded with a low, but firm tone. "You got lucky. We're just tired after a full night of training for the next trial." The boy continued. Avikna felt a pair of eyes on the back of her head... She had to sigh. She knew exactly who was staring at her and why. "Tay, enough. We need to see Freya to a Pokemon Center." Avikna voiced stepping up to the girl's side. "She your moooommy? Bet she's just as weak as you!" Avikna narrowed her gaze, her lip tightening. She caught Tay's gaze. No, now is not the time. "Whatever, losers. I got bigger fish to fry. " "Avikna..." Once more she had to sigh. Every fiber of her being was itching to punch this little buizel, but she was reminded time and time again that he was a child. Even still.. she had to do something. Grabbing a ball from her bag she called out Nijrn. The appearance of the Noivern caught the boys attention. "We're dealing with a real hot-head, Nijrn. Could you help this... boy, cool off?" Avikna inquired. Nijrn titled her head slightly thinking over this request, but as the mellow wafts of ocean breeze picked up the bat put two and two together and nodded her head.
As Avikna and Tay made their way towards the town, Nijrn flew up into the air, snatched the boy in her talons and quickly flew him to a safe distance out to the ocean and dropped him into the ocean's waters. She flew overhead allowing enough time to see if he'd come back to the surface or not. When he did and began shouting rather rude words at Nijrn, the Noivern made her way towards where Avikna went.

Much as she didn't feel her old Pidgey had his chance to really start growing under Sylva just yet, his eagerness to kick start that path wasn't lost on the swordswoman. And considering what path they'd be taking, he'll have a prime opportunity to do just that pretty soon. Though Luca hadn't given much thought to her own priorities on training until her companion popped the question, the answer leaving her lips before she really thought about it. "Izalith, of course," she started, already fiddling with the Ivysaur's pokeball. "I can't have him falling behind on me, especially when Priscilla's been doing so much of the heavy lifting. Seath could probably use a bit more training too, just to get caught up with her."
With the pools being their first destination on their list, her grass-type should have his time to shine without too much issue. Though the more she thought about it, some of her other pokemon could certainly use the pick-me-up too, Gwyn especially... Though she didn't have much time to consider what to do about her designated flying-type before Sylva stopped to jab back at the swordswoman, who tragically missed the mark of the teasing. "What did you mean then?" She quirked a brow as they passed the shops and the sights of the city, pavement steadily giving way to dirt roads. Lucatiel couldn't help but give her friend an odd look when she ultimately dismissed the notion altogether. "If you're sure, I guess. Still, worst came to worst you'd probably still fit in my coat if need be, even if it'd look pretty oversized."
It wasn't long before they were back onto well-beaten paths of flattened earth beneath their feet, breaking off from the city to venture towards the next Trial. And since it was as good a place as any Luca wasted no time getting right back to training, picking out the first wild pokemon she saw to toss to the curb as they walked. A Grubbin peaked its head out from the tall grass just in time to see Seath bearing down on it with a flaming hand, caught unawares by the larger pokemon. Unfortunately Izalith didn't have anything to've dealt with the Bug-type so effectively, so he would have to wait his turn before his trainer would get to her intended regimen.

Luca's choice of who to train up was quick indeed. Picking her starter to earn some levels, it made Sylva think on her own starter... A chill quickly ran up her spine, her mind going quickly to Leirsa's black eyes. Shaking her mind free of Leirsa's haunting gaze, Sylva had to agree with Luca's choice. If the map and location were any indication they were heading towards a water-type infested area, meaning her Ivysaur and Sylva's own Rolex would be perfect for this area. "I should work on Rolex a bit as well." Sylva noted. "But BelAir will be a priority." She quickly added.
The former red-head had to give her travel companion a deadpan look for a moment. Sylva was starting to understand Luca more and more the longer they traveled together. Quick to tease, Luca was seemingly oblivious to when she herself was being teased. Or was she just not aware of the sort of attention her attire was bring her? Could someone be that dense? Or perhaps, was this just an act? Whatever the case, Sylva had tossed the thought away finding no reason to linger longer on the failed attempt to tease. "I could use your coat as a blanket." Sylva replied. "If we're to camp outside one of these days that's something to keep note of." She added. "Though sadly you'll have to freeze." The blond shrugged. A cruel notion, but Sylva's tone suggested she wasn't serious.
Either way, it wasn't much longer before they were on Route 4 proper. Like a switch they were flipped into training mode. It'd been some time since their last battle, but Sylva seemed to get into it quickly enough, sending BelAir forward to deal with a Grubbin that appeared just a bit after the one Luca's Seath dealt with in one blow. BelAir wasn't as lucky, getting a String shot to the face. Flying up in the sky a bit higher, the bird avoided a would-be vicious Bite attack, swooping in a moment later to knock out the Grubbin.

Still unawares of Leirsa's new disposition towards her trainer, Luca didn't quite get her companion's reaction when she brought their minds towards their starters. Curious as she was, she let the thought go once Sylva settled on her own pokemon to focus on. "Makes sense. Hopefully by the time we're off the island, we'll be in a good place to challenge the next gym leader back in Kanto." It was something they'd have to take care of eventually, after all. Fun as this vacation was, Luca couldn't help but fear her pokemon suddenly growing disobedient from all their slacking would sour the taste.
Sylva was able to take her mind off that matter though, despite her attempts to tease coming up empty. Whether she was truly so oblivious or playing the part, the former redhead failed to hit her mark, ultimately diverging for the train of thought that'd come from the misunderstanding. Lucatiel huffed, gently smacking her friend's arm. "How cruel of you. I never thought you'd be so heartless, Sylva," she joked, laughing as she spoke. "If it really came down to it, we'd just have to share the coat. Though, then again, I suppose warm bodies might make up for a loose blanket."
They continued to speak until they reached the first step towards their destination, the two girls launching quickly into their training. After they'd dispatched a pair of Grubbin, Luca's eyes settled on a Yungoos that came to investigate, already bearing its fangs as they locked eyes. It wasn't quite the clean victory she was looking for, but it'll have to do. She sent out Izalith first, stopping briefly to give him a Big Mushroom from her bag before the wild pokemon came close enough for their clash.

Luca made a good point. "Yea, we're on gym four there right?" Gym four was grass-types if she recalled right... though reaching each city with a gym was in no particular order it seemed that would be their next goal. Sylva was already running the risk of a full team not listening to her orders. Good thing she had so many Pokemon. Though the list in her head reminded her of the sheer number of ghosts she seemed to have haunting her. BelAir, Farah and Innsbrook were the only three on her team that didn't honestly give off a creepy vibe. She could only blame herself she's the one who allowed them to stick around and be apart of her team. Her ghost magnetism started the day she came across Tiffany in that alleyway. Was it maybe actually Tiffany that pulled the ghosts in? Maybe. She was growing used to their presence so it wasn't as bad as back then, still though...
Regardless of the ghosts attraction to her, Sylva had another lingering presence to deal with, this one being alive. Her attempt at teasing once more fell short, turning her own joke against her. The girl narrowed her eyes and glanced away. "I'll freeze then." Sylva pouted, crossing her arms. By now the girl should be used to the way Luca teased... But in truth, Sylva sometimes couldn't tell if Luca was being serious or teasing. She figured it was the latter 95% of the time. Didn't keep her from getting flustered by the suggestions. Why was Luca's teasing so different from Tiffany's way of teasing?
