Route 5 connects Paniola Ranch and Route 8, with connections to Brooklet Hill and Lush Jungle. This route is separated into two parts. There's a forested part in the south of the route and a cliffside path that's in the north. The cliffside can only be accessed via Route 8

At this point, she fell silent, still bristling in her agitation as her gaze focused in a direction that held neither the Rockruff nor her trainer and new teammate. Thinking about it, did Sullivan get a few extra treats while they were back at the center? She recalled some berries (which were rather boring on their own) and some little wrapped things that looked suspiciously like they could be edible.
Maybe she’d have to sample the goods when she had the chance. She was good at that and really, the Rowlett felt the man ought to be consulting her more often regarding what kind of edible things he purchased as well as whether they were worth giving to his team (or himself, if that were the case). Really, he needed to work on trusting her to make some calls.

Sullivan entered the pokemon center and immediately went for the counter, temporarily returning Ulani as well as Mana before handing them over to the nurse for healing. The Emolga, bless her tiny little heart, had been a real trouper the whole way. She was weak, but she was certainly willing to keep a tough front. Even with a few tears here and there she refrained from outright sobbing.
Which meant of course, Sullivan would certainly need to make it up to her. And maybe Mana. She’d stepped up to the plate when he needed her, though there’d been a bit of conflict at the same time. He was still upset with her for her earlier actions and disrespect. But when it came to the battle, she performed.
He sighed. It’d have to wait for now. He took a seat and waited for the healing to finish, pulling out his communicator to do a bit of browsing. He was already thinking ahead to his next challenge; Kiawe at Wela Volcano Park. A disciple of fire, he’d need to bring his A-game to take him down. And then maybe after that… he’d take on the kahunas? He’d missed challenging the kahuna of Melemele Island, he’d need to double back and do that; he wanted to complete as many challenges as he could after all and well. The kahunas were practically commanders to the captains. Leaders of the islands and established individuals; chosen by the Tapus themselves! They weren’t something to take lightly. The trials themselves were challenging as it was; the kahunas he had a feeling would be even tougher. -

Ugh, it was a lot to think about. A lot. He could do it though; he had faith! Though, they probably needed to focus on training a little bit before they tried another trial. And in turn, Sullivan needed to flesh out his team as well.
Which is what he took the time to do. Or rather, what he took the time to look further in to. He wanted to build his own team through catches but there was nothing wrong with looking. There were quite a few pokemon up for grabs through trades too and he eyed one that caught his attention. A Flygon… just there to a good home. That was a lot of effort into a pokemon to just be passing it off. Trapinch were the only things native to Alola down in the deserts, Flygons a rarity. Something like that on his team would give him an added element of strength.
It was hard to pass up. His fingers twitched as he debated with himself on what to do. Add it to his team? Leave it and catch a Trapinch of his own and raise it up? There was nothing wrong giving a pokemon a home.

He gave a wide grin as he took the ball from the transporter at the PC. Really, there wasn’t much debate. Or there wasn’t much to debate on; he didn’t need to hear the opposing arguments to this choice because well, he didn’t. And no one was going to complain at him for it anyways.
Excited, he nearly missed Nurse Joy waving an arm in the air to catch his attention. He quickly rushed over, attaching the new pokeball to his belt while retrieving his team with a ‘thank you’ sign. Junpei (who came around the counter without hesitation) took note of his trainer’s unexplainable excitement, eyeing the man curiously. Was something up?
Sullivan just gave the rock pup a gentle rub between the ears, still grinning before turning and ushering his way out the door. He wanted to meet the new addition, check Ulani and Mana and start on their next trial run.

Bayleaf bounded along to try and keep up with his trainer, only to be returned as Adder slowed. Pichu curiously hopped up onto his trainer, and Cling quickly floated through the air to snap around the young teen's wrist, earning an annoyed, vicious glare, that the pokemon passively returned. Huffing, Adder pulled out his pokedex so he could start going through his pokemon's moveset. These three out wouldn't be too hard to monitor, at least, even with Pichu nuzzling up against him and chirping curiously as he looked around. The preteen frowned and continued walking along the route, but looked up, hesitating before heading to the pokecenter. If he really was going to challenge Lana.... he needed to make sure everyone was healed.

While his pokemon were healed (and Cosmog was stuffed in a bag), Adder hunched over books in a corner. He kept his bag beside him, pushing down on it each time he saw the flap raise or heard a curious "Cseou!" Lana used water pokemon, which meant Bayleaf and Pichu would probably be his best bets. Pichu's moveset was..... far from impressive, though. He.... really needed to evolve him, in fact. Bayleaf, on the other hand, could probably do a lot more damage, in general, and for the trial. It might be worth updating his moveset as well, though.... But he would need to buy a few heartscales first....

One trip to the store later, Adder had stocked up on quite a few items. He knew he wanted to at least replace Tackle for Bayleaf, but after looking at the rest of his moves, he figured he might actually keep it as is. As for Pichu.... he was pretty sure he had found a loophole, and as soon as he got his pokemon back, he released the pokemon, who returned to his perch, looking curiously at Adder as his trainer fiddled with something. Of course, Cling had refused to even go in his pokeball, and immediately snapped around Adder's wrist after getting healed up a bit. The usually playful pokemon warily eyed his begrudgingly new trainer as he played with what looked like some kind of red gem. The boy stopped, pulling Pichu off his shoulder. Cling eyed the exchange, but didn't quite follow what was going on-- suddenly, though, the gem was gone, and pichu was blinking, sparkling with electricity. The electric snake writhed a bit at all the static in the air, staring intently. Adder, though, smirked some, straightening up, and moving on, releasing Bayleaf just long enough to give him his own item, before recalling the grass type, and moving towards the next challenge.

Emerging from Brooklet Hill, a fleeting thought flickered through Adder's head-- maybe he should have caught some pokemon while he was there. He paused, looking down, and reconsidering going back. It... He could come back. Right now, he needed to progress forward, so that he could travel more easily, and make sure he maintained control of his pokemon, not to mention continue trying to train those that he had. Bayleef needed to reach his final evolution, and Charmander needed to reach her second. Pengyou and Brionne might be ready to evolve soon, too, and not to mention Lady, and all the other pokemon he had that he still needed to train. Adder reached up to run a hand back through his hair, but hesitated, and instead jerked his hat down, shaking it to ruffle up his hair underneath it with his eyes staring hard at the ground. Why did he suddenly feel abruptly aware of his own age, and the adults walking around him as he made his way back through Route 5? His lips curved down into a frown, and he stuffed the feeling away, instead filling his thoughts with a checklist of what he planned to do next. He had to go back to Route 6, then Royal.... something, he forgot the name, then Route 7, and then he'd finally be able to challenge the third trial and Kiawe. At least.... Brionne was probably strong enough. The rest of his active team were a little less prepared. Heck, part of him wondered why the hell Puff and Cling were even in his active team, but there was the small matter of his other pokemon being leveled that help shunt away his sudden urge to replace them. He had several pokemon to train, yeah, but he wasn't really focused on that, so having them on hand would just be an unnecessary detour. It wasn't like he wasn't going to go to a pokecenter after he was done with everything, anyway, and even after he defeated Kiawe, he still needed to keep some momentum going until he had obtained the next stamp. He uh.... didn't really want to find out whether three was enough to get all his pokemon to obey him...

Keeping his promise, once they arrived on Route 5, a handy little sign alerting them to the change, Naomi released Jingū to once more begin exploring the tall grass. He kept an eye out, making sure that she didn't get too far nor bite off more than she could chew, but also looked around the new area curiously. Though he couldn't see it yet, he knew there was a trail that'd led them to Brooklet Hill and, according to Rotom, that was where they'd find Lana. After healing Jingū Naomi let her go off on her merry way, though as he watched her charge ahead once more he began to play around with the idea of finding a trainer to battle against. After all, there was only so many pokemon Jingū could battle against in a certain period of time, finding a trainer would make things easier. Of course, they'd have to find someone within the area, and one who was willing to battle at that. Still, a determined Naomi was an individual who would go to great lengths to achieve his goal, and after five minutes of quick-paced walking the team ran across a woman dressed in... plaid and boots.
