Mel's expression wasn't awe, like some trainer's after an evolution. It wasn't surprise, or even confusion, or dumbfounded shock, like Brian's. Her expression was one of horrified, confused realization. She was trying to process so many things at once-- that her pokemon had been broken this whole time, that she hadn't noticed, that, she realized, she barely knew some of her pokemon at all, that her pokemon had just evolved, that it was.... a palm tree of a pokemon-- and she couldn't seem to grind through any of it. "Should.... should we recall it?" Brian asked numbly, watching as the pokemon roared in delight, and began parading around, with big, heavy, leaping steps.
Mel didn't respond. Shifting his focus ot her, Brian frowned, watching her as she tracked the pokemon. Dropping his shoulders, he leaned over, reaching up to shake her shoulder, and break her from it. She looked at him with wide eyes. "What do you want to do?" he asked, more calmly, patiently, looking almost tired at prompting the decision. She didn't even blinked. "I dunno..." she murmured, turning to look back at the pokemon, "Leave it out, I suppose..."

Mel finally shook from her stupor some as Lucy hopped onto her shoulder, making her lurch forward and nearly lose her balance. The monferno didn't seem the least bit worried, though, instead chittering curiously as she watched her newly evolved teammate prance around. She looked quizzically to Mel, as if expecting a response to whatever she'd said. The cop frowned, a bit, before giving a smile. "Sorry Luce, I'm not nearly as good at understandin' without Z around," she apologized, feeling a slight pain in her chest. Whether it was the guilt over Conglomerate, or a moment of nostalgia for her absent companion, she brushed it aside, shaking her head, and looking around.
"We should probably get to training, huh?" she remarked, absently setting a hand on the belt around her waist.

The group looked around, spotting some pokemon darting around, but not quite encountering any looking for a battle. Conglomerate was still thoroughly enjoying being complete, and evolved, but he seemed to manage to cue in on the goal, and assist in looking around, curious of his surroundings now that he could actually appreciate them. Mel glanced back at him often, looking guilty, and Brian rolled his eyes, before suggesting they should just head to Kalos. They could train there, after all. They'd be right at the gym. They could battle on the way. And besides, if they really struggled, Mel had an incense she could burn.

Focusing back on the upcoming trial, Naomi lifted his head up to do a sweep of the route they were on. He was allowing Rotom to guide the team, since he did have a built-in map of the region, which gave him one less thing to worry about. “You’re up against Kiwae next,” Rotom relayed, after Naomi had requested the next trial’s general information. “He’s uses fire types, so if you’re looking to add another pokemon to your team I’d suggest it’d be a water type.” The male hummed in response, Rotom brought up an interesting idea. He hadn’t really planned his team out, he just caught pokemon that he came across in the moment. But, adding a water type would certainly help out with fire types, and he had just been awarded the HM Surf, so if he did catch one he’d already have a powerful move to add to their arsenal. Coming to his conclusion, Naomi shook his head. “I think we will be fine,” Naomi assured, then cast a meaningful glance Ieyasu’s way. His ever observant partner, catching onto his look, lifted his head up before giving a subtle nod of the head. He understood what the look meant, and would be compliant.

With Ieyasu on board with the plan, to which the rest of the team was only just now beginning to understand, the next step was to get the Eevee in fighting shape. Or well, considering that he was his strongest pokemon, get him even stronger; and that meant finding pokemon for them to battle! Deciding against sending his partner into the tall grass, Naomi jumped straight to finding a trainer to fight against, and one wasn’t even that hard to find! Considering the length of the route, which is what gave it its name of “Short Street”, he was able to see any and every person with ease. And, since most trainers didn’t often turn down battles, he was able to set up a battle with the first person he asked. Maybe it was the Alola nature that led him to find such friendly individuals, or perhaps it was just the trainer spirit. Either way, he was certainly grateful.

So far, it definitely seemed like they had quite the arsenal to help them deal with Kiawe’s trial, it was mostly just a matter of training them up so they could stand a fair enough chance against him and his Totem Pokemon. They could also technically fight fire with fire, and Torgeir definitely had a pretty good arsenal of his own as far as his attacks went. Still, Zoey felt that it was best to save him until he was needed the most, especially when they would finally reach Mallow’s trial. ”I suppose we should also focus on gettin’ in some trainin’ for Tor n’ Lukas in preparation for the Lush Jungle trial, and possibly Piper too,” she added, though she wasn’t entirely certain about the Noivern in particular. ☆ ☆【Zoey chuckled at Freya’s excitement to finally get involved in training, especially given that she’d yet to have a chance to see battle. ”Easy there, tiger,” she said, rummaging through her bag to find what she needed, ”Lemme just take care of some prep stuff, aight?” The Milotic huffed in mild annoyance at being told to wait, but obediently sat patiently so Zoey could do whatever it was she had to do. First, she pulled out the other GS Ball that had yet to be used, figuring that it was probably better to use it now than just have it sit in the bag for Arceus knows how long collecting dust. ”First off, a shiny new ball to help enhance your training,” she said, holding it out to the water serpent for her to accept. Freya stared at it for a moment, before raising the two hair-like fins on the top of her head and moving them to mimic a nonchalant shrug.”Whatevs, yer the boss, boss,”she affirmed, leaning in and gently tapping her head against the GS Ball to establish it as her new home. Meanwhile, Zoey put away Freya’s old Pokeball back into her bag since the Milotic wouldn’t really need it anymore. She then pulled out a little blue disc from her TM case, perhaps now was a good time to put that new HM she got from Lana to use. Plus, considering the nature of the Totem battles, having an area-affecting Water attack would certainly be helpful. She gently pressed the disc against Freya’s head, the Milotic concentrating hard as a flood of new information filled her mind. At the same time, another kernel of knowledge appeared to gradually vanish to make room for this new move she was learning, not that it really mattered to her that much.
”There we are, yer all good to go, missy,” Zoey announced as she put the HM away, thankfully unlike TMs these things didn’t just break after a single use.”Fiiiiinally! Arceus damn, I’m dyin’ over ‘ere!”Freya groaned out in exasperation, though she was clearly just being overdramatic for the sake of it,”I coulda downed at least ten wild Pokemon in the time it took ya to do all that mussin’ n’ fussin’ around, now lemme at ‘em or I just might ‘ave ‘alf a mind to spray a Scald yer way!”Orpheus couldn’t help but chuckle as he relayed her comments to Zoey, even though she wasn’t entirely serious about spraying a Scald at her trainer it was clear that the Milotic was getting impatient. ”Heh, yeah, yeah, I getcha. Go get ‘em, girl~” the woman said with a chuckle, flicking a hand towards the tall grass patch close by so Freya could get going as she pleased.”She certainly seems quite energetic~”the Zoroark commented as the huge water snake eagerly hovered over towards the grass in search of a challenge. He had to admit that he did admire her quite a bit, Milotics were after all an embodiment of beauty compared to their rather shabby looking pre-evolutions. And yet, Freya’s use of very crude, vulgar language and her brusque, tomboyish attitude seemed so very unbecoming of such a usually lady-like Pokemon. Yet, he couldn’t help but find her to be quite an interesting case, the Zoroark had met his fair share of Milotics before since they were very popular Pokemon for coordinators to use in contests, and none of them had ever talked or acted like she did. He wondered briefly what her story was, though perhaps Zoey would tell him sometime sooner or later. For now, he stayed by the woman’s side as they both trailed after the Milotic with potions at the ready to heal her if needed.
Meanwhile, Freya practically bulldozed her way through the grass, maybe unintentionally smacking away a few unlucky wild Pokemon who were unaware of her flailing tail coming at them. She wasn’t entirely sure how tough the wild Pokemon in this particular area were, though she hoped they could at least put up a good fight. She stiffened in anticipation when she heard a ruffling in the grass only a foot to her right, and immediately whirled around to spray a steaming Scald at the Pikipek that practically launched out at her from the brush. Clearly staggered but undeterred from her attack, the little bird whizzed in close and smacked against her with a pecking punch using its strong beak. With a surge of annoyance, Freya sprayed one last Scald at it, which finally downed it as it spiraled down from the air and landed in some indeterminate location in the grass beyond. The Lillipup that rushed out at her from the brush after a quick intermission to heal up as Zoey administered potions for her wound was hardly any tougher than the bird had been as she swamped the battlefield with a Surf, but it charged at her with a reckless tackle that actually really hurt a lot. But, she could see that the sheer power and carelessness of the attack also hurt the little dog Pokemon quite a bit as well, it was just barely managing to stay on its feet. A whirling bolt of purple-blue energy sprung from the Milotic’s mouth in the form of a Dragon Pulse, striking the Lillipup dead on and sending it flying back into the sea of grass where it had come from. Another quick healing with potions before a dark-furred Rattata came jumping out, gnashing its teeth at her threateningly. Besides getting in a bite on her, the Rattata was hardly an issue as she downed it easily with a one-two combo of Surf and Scald.】☆ ☆

☆ ☆【Zoey hummed with a smile as she sprayed Freya down with more potions after she practically bulldozed the Alolan Rattata over with a slew of Water-type attacks. ”Heh, yer doin’ pretty great so far, Frey~ Keep that up n’ I’m sure ye’ll be ready to take on Kiawe n’ his Fire-types in record time,” she praised happily, gently patting the Milotic’s neck after finishing patching her up. Freya snorted in response, flicking her tail in a dismissive manner.”Honey, please. That was just a simple warmup as far as I’m concerned!”she interjected boastfully, holding her head up high in confidence,”I’m gonna get so ********’ strong those flame fartin’ bastards won’t even know what hit ‘em!”Orpheus couldn’t help but bark out a laugh at the rather crass comments the Milotic spouted, while Eir protectively curled her tail around Coltrane’s ears to try and block out the inappropriate language as she leveled a disappointed glare at the water snake. If Freya payed the ice fox’s scornful gaze any mind, she simply choose to not acknowledge it as she headed back into the grass again in search of more challengers. Considering that she had clearly caused quite a disturbance in the ecosystem around here, it hardly took long for more challengers to leap out at her from the tall grass.
A Lillipup was first, clearly a much weaker one as it managed to get in a single Bite attack before she sent it spiraling away with Surf and a Dragon Pulse. The Pikipek that came at her next after a quick healing definitely looked much stronger in comparison, but with how strong she had gotten so quickly it hardly posed any more of a challenge to her than the Lillipup did. It only managed to get in a single Pluck attack, striking rapidly at her with its thick, rock hard beak before she blasted it into unconsciousness with a Scald. At this point, the patch of tall grass was starting to look more and more like marshland as the big waves of water from her Surf attack churned up big clumps of mud and collected in large puddles all around the place. ”Huh, well that can’t be good for the grass,” Zoey thought as she assessed the damage, sighing internally, ”Hope the environmental department won’t be jumpin’ up my a** for this…” Maybe it was about time for them to move on anyways, Royal Avenue was pretty much just a stone’s throw away from here. Not to mention she was starting to feel pretty hungry, breakfast had been hours ago and it was probably already mid-afternoon at this point. ”Think that’s enough trainin’ for now, c’mon ya’ll,” Zoey spoke up, returning Freya for the time being as she placed the GS Ball back on her belt, ”Let’s go scout out a place for lunch in Royal Avenue.” Eir and Coltrane seemed quite happy to agree with that plan, Orpheus offering a warm smile as he nodded in approval.”It has been quite some time since breakfast, I am admittedly feeling pretty peckish myself,”he chipped in, wondering if perhaps there was a malasada shop in town.】☆ ☆

From where they began to where they'd end, Route 6 was a short and sweet route, normally. Right now it was crowded with a plethora of Psychic-types ready to tackle the group. Having taken the Incense from the Pokemon center, Avikna figured this was what was attracting them. Perhaps it was some sort of cursed item? Whatever the case, their path was made slow. Yumin seemed their MVP in this case, being readily able to use Feint attack to deal with the Psychic Pokemon with ease. Tay's other Pokemon she planned on training didn't seam to mind, though they were also eager to deal with anything that might be to much for Yumin to handle.

Midway through the route at this point, the duo were making their way past Paniola Ranch when suddenly there was a loud whine of a whinny, and then the sound of wood cracking. Avikna stopped in her tracks, stepping in front of Tay. Not far away a strange, bright colourful Pokemon had appeared and was quickly making their way towards the duo in what appeared to be a wild rampage. "Tay, Hide behind that rock!" Avikna shouted, stepping back and gently nudging the brunette to move. She did, albeit a bit reluctant, but after seeing Yumin's first attempt at a Feint attack miss she did as she was told.
As the hooved Pokemon grew closer, it became evident that this was perhaps another 'Alolan' form Pokemon, or whatever Manuel and Freya were. Just from a quick analysis it looked to be a Ponyta perhaps? A large flowing cotton candy mane and tail, including large blackened eyes and a small horn protruding form it's forehead. It was smaller than what she remembered Ponyta being. Snatching the Ponyta by it's neck, Avikna swung her body to it's back. The pony instantly started bucking to get the red-head off. "Attack it now!" Avikna shouted. She hadn't jumped on it's back to attempt to stop it's rampage after all, but to simply stop it from moving. Having a firm target to launch it's attack at, Yumin flew forward with a Feint attack, knocking his own body into the Ponyta's neck. With one last whinny the Ponyta collapsed.
Crawling off the fallen pony, Avikna rose and dusted herself off. Three people came rushing forward one with a rope, the other two with some sort of prods. Another of the trio spoke. "Got spooked by a ornery Tauros, poor dear." It was then the Ponyta managed to open it's eyes, if only a small bit and looked up to Tay, it was silent but to Tay... it seemed to of said quite a lot. When it couldn't hold it's strength and fainted once more, Tay looked back with a frown. Before pulling out a pokeball and tapping it to the pony. "What in tar-nation you think you're doing young lady!" The one with the rope shouted.
Avikna wasn't sure what was going on, but regardless she sided with Tay of course. Stepping forward, Avikna drew attention to herself. Her best at being intimidating was usually successful, if only because of her Pokemon standing behind her. Five tough looking dragons and a slightly demonic looking wolf-like Pokemon did most of the Intimidation for her. The silent one of the trio leaned into towards the center man whispering something, to which the middle man nodded. "Fine you can have the filly. Take good care of her." The three then walked away, just like that.... and Tay was now the trainer to a strange new Pokemon.

For the rest of the route, Tay held the ball containing her new addition close to her chest. She held a look of strong concern, as if any sort of sudden movement would spell disaster for the pony within. Avikna noticed, but said nothing... whatever had happened between her and that Ponyta before it fainted was between them. Their goal for now was to reach Royal Avenue and get the new Pokemon looked over by Nurse Joy. Those people... didn't really seem like bad people to Avikna, they were assertive indeed, but not mean. She chalked it up to inexperience when it came to the Ponyta's specific form. It made Avikna curious though, what did make this one different from the Ponyta of Kanto? Aside from it's coat colour of course. She didn't care enough to ask Tay for her Pokedex, instead resting the question in the back of her mind. They'd find out eventually most likely.
Just before turning off into the small town known as 'Royal Avenue' a Woobat suddenly swooped down, bring it's fluffy body dangerously close to Tay. Yumin swooped in himself, swiftly chasing the bat off with a Feint Attack. "Thanks, Yumin." Tay spoke, giving the fish a smile. The bat had at least gotten her attention off the ball for the time being.
