Lafayette gave an affirmative nod as Brian repeated his comment, eyebrow quirked as he overlooked that the man probably didn’t understand strine. He should’ve been more receptive to the idea that very few people understood him and to try and cut back on the slang but well, that wasn’t his thing. And never would be.
"Yeh mate, crackin’ on." The Aussie repeated, giving a confused look of his own. Maybe Brian never had never hit on a woman or anything either with this whole fear thing? When his questions were met with a lack of response on Brian’s part he gave pause, only to perk up as Mel spoke. His expression shifted to thoughtfulness; he liked to look? Like… watch? He was certain they made stuff for that… was that what Brian was into and how he knew?
"Oooohhh…. I got’ya mate." Lafayette gave a grin and a thumb up to Brian as Mel made some further comments about like… art or something, regarding women. Noah was enjoying himself in the waves, splashing and playing make believe as some hero of the seas, Cheri seated just at the coast line and staring at him with her standard expression; like she considered his antics stupid or something. Either way, they seemed to be behaving, which was good.

The grin remained on his face as Mel took the bottle, though a thoughtful expression crossing his face. "Oh yeh? Mahbeh it’s all the heat. Getting’ ta his head?" He remarked, hand raising and tapping his chin before taking the bottle back. He smirked a moment at her chiding remark, "Dad sweaters? Boy… yeh mate’s all kinds old ain’ he?" He teased, taking another swig of his beer. "Like them tots who actually like them ugleh Chrissie sweatahs their nans send’em." Because unless those things were one of a kind, there was no reason to be acting that way.
He took another swig and offered to Mel again if she wanted another drink. "Kinda want the get trainin’ too to be honest. Pokies been outta commish for a while... need ta make sure they ain’ rusteh on me," because rusty pokemon did a person no good. And they probably wanted to know he wasn’t entirely dead yet. Dova certainly seemed satisfied to find out that he was mostly okay but there was still half his team who didn’t know about the recent changes to their trainer’s physique. "Besides, ain’ realleh sure wha’ all there is to see aroun’ here." His tone suggested he didn’t sound all that persistent to find out either. Which was a shame, the islands were nice and all, anyone else would kill to explore them. He ought to take the opportunity to do so while he had the chance.

Mel rolled her eyes and gave a wide shrug. "Who knows? Maybe," she replied back. She had a feeling it was more than that -- in fact, she was getting some idea of what it might be, now that she thought about it -- but she honestly still didn't have much of a good opinion on his attitude either way. She chuckled a bit at Lafayette's comment on Brian's "age". "Honestly, I think he's at the very least, been thirty since he was twelve. Maybe older," she remarked with an amused smirk, playing along with the joke. Honestly, Brian had good reason to be the way he was, she knew that, but she still couldn't help but jab at him from time to time. She raised an eyebrow, though, her amused look turning to playful suspicion. "Did you ever get any of those sweaters, Lala?" she queried.
Mel smiled, accepting the offer to take a drink, and handing it back. "Shouldn't you enjoy your vacation, though? While you can," she pointed out, though of course, she'd already confessed to considering doing exactly not that as well, so... She gave him a bemused look at his own remark, though. "Are you kidding? There's loads to see. The mountains, the islands, I wouldn't be surprised if there was some volcano or hot springs, other... festivals or something," she listed, gesturing in the general direction of where she assumed Iki Town was, "Feel it would be rather hard to get bored in a place like this."
Her expression changed again at his (she assumed) playful 'threat'. "First of all, that would be cheating," she pointed out with a smirk and narrowed eyes, "Second of all, you think my rock, heavy, solid pokemon is going to know anything about how I swim? You'd be better off asking a luvdisc how it swims and going from there. 'N I don't swim anything like a luvdisc." She smirked and drew back, folding her arms over her chest. "You're going to have to just wait and see, love."

Lafayette let out a snort of a laugh, nearly spitting up his drink of beer from that remark. "Ppfff… thirteh since twelve? Now tha’s a pain in the a** if I evah heard," he chuckled, retrieving the beer and taking a drink. That sounded like it’d be horrific; he just tried to picture a younger Mel being scolded or confronted by a younger Brian as though he were an adult, bringing another chuckle to his throat.
"Ehh… I guess?" Lafayette murmured, beer bottle hovering at his lips. He didn’t sound entirely certain still on the ‘vacation’ thing; he still wasn’t. He didn’t like sitting idle for a long period of time which was pretty much what a vacation was about. Even though he wasn’t much for repetitive menial work, it was still far better and kept him doing something at least. He shrugged his shoulder and took another drink, finishing off the last of the beer in the process. "I ain’ much for a vacco… didn’ even ask so. Guess I’ll find somethin’." Maybe he’d find a way to perk up and check out the things Mel suggested; he did like exploring. Usually. He was still salty.

Mel laughed. "No kidding. He did have some kid moments, though," she 'reassured' him. Honestly, Brian hadn't been that bad; in fact, he could still act like a child sometimes. He was just usually.... anxious wasn't necessarily the right word, but he wasn't always as laid back as she wished he would be, sometimes. Wary, perhaps, was more accurate.
She quirked an eyebrow at his lack of enthusiasm, but looked curious when he admitted he didn't even ask for the vacation. "So, what... your boss just... forced you to take some time off?" she asked, smiling in confusion. That seemed like the best sort of thing for your boss to do, but it was still rather odd.
She scoffed in amusement at his 'defense', and rolled her eyes. She tilted her head to the side and raised her eyebrows at his further comments. "Maybe rocks wanna float too'?" she repeated, "That almost sounds philosophical, Lala. If I didn' know you better, I might think it was." She smirked, clearly teasing, before shifting and watching him as he jumped to his feet. She took the alternative, and leaned back, crossign one leg over the other as she looked at him. "You're going to be seeing the ocean floor with how much I'll be beating you down, Lala~" she returned fire, in an almost sing-songy voice. She popped a pokeball off her bag and tossed it in the air, and after a moment, Kiwi appeared in her lap. She caught the ball and put it away, before gently petting the still robot. "That goes for if we battle once I've trained my pokemon up, too," she added, tooooootally not playing a villainness role here, as she stroked her little white bunny pokemon, and leaned back one one hand, a confident smirk to her lips.

So, Brian had kid moments? He took a moment to picture such an idea again, though it was still considerably difficult. The man seemed so… stern? Off putting? A killjoy? Something like that; trying to shrink that into a kid form and then picture kid times was… difficult. But who was he to really say anything?
"Ah… pretteh much mate," he remarked with a frown. He still felt a little miffed about the idea. "I’m thinkin’ anyways. Jules is weird... does weird things. I dunno, I don’ think too much ‘bout it." He remarked absently. That was probably a bit too much information on his part but well, eh he was just a tiny bit tipsy. Not entirely, but he felt certainly more relaxed.
"Yeh! Wha’s wrong with that?" He inquired, still grinning a the thought. Maybe it was true! He bet there were tons of pokemon out there trying to accomplish what they couldn’t for one reason or another. At her remarked he cocked an eyebrow. "Oh? You thinkin’ yeh gonna realleh show me up sheila?" He smirked and eyed her a moment, surprised as she called out a pokemon. He eyed the whole scenario a moment before bursting into a hearty laugh of his own. Like it was… funny. It was terribly funny. And the Aussie wasn’t entirely sure why, but it was. He finally caught his breath after a few second, wiping tears out of his eyes. "Wow… good one sheila, I look forward to tha’ battle" he breathed. It was just… so bad for some reason. He paused a moment, eyeing the rabbit in wonder. "Hey… wha’s that?" Lafayette inquired, leaning down to eye the Cybun a pit, a finger gently poking the thing in the head. It felt rather... solid. In an odd sort of way.

Mel looked thoughtful, but didn't comment on Lala's employer. Jules, though, huh? Was that short for Julien? She'd keep that in mind, in case he referenced him again, but she didn't think much of it. The guy sounded quirky, though. A scientist who used someone to do all his research but then forced random vacations on them and paid for their rooms in upscale resorts...? Not the worst set up, at least, not from what she'd been told so far.
She gave the blond a dubious look at his response to rocks trying to learn how to float, but then smirked back when he asked if she was trying to show him up. That smirk actually softened a bit when he burst out laughing, and she tilted her head to the side, almost to rest on her shoulder, while turning her careful strokes, into gentle little rubs and scritches on the steel rabbit in her lap. Not that she figured it really felt them, much. "As do I, Lala," she replied back with a winsome, almost sly sort of smile. She blinked at his question, lifting her hand a moment, and looking down at Kiwi as if to confirm that was what he indicated. Of course, it clearly was. She smiled and rested her hand back onto the little robot. "Kiwi. It's a... cybunny. Quirky little thing, honestly. They're robots, but apparently still pokemon? Like... man made pokemon. Honestly, I dunno how you walk that line... pokemon are living things, after all. But it can still do attacks and such. It's very curious," she remarked with some amusement and interest. She was no tech expert, but she did find them, and just their general concept, rather interesting. Kiwi, for its part, blinked, then hoped abruptly, and turned to face Lala, staring back at him. Mel grinned, before picking Kiwi up. "See how many fingers it takes to lift it," she urged, before adding to the pokemon, "Kiwi, hold onto Lala's fingers." Lafayette continued to eye the strange little rabbit thing as Mel explained what it was, an inquisitive look overcoming his features. A Cybunny? A man-made pokemon? He’d heard about those kinds before; wasn’t like Porygon one of those too? Though maybe that wasn’t what peaked his interest the most, comparing the two.
"Kiwi?" Was that what she called it? Lafayette couldn’t help but give a chuckle, "Loike the fruit?" ‘Kiwi’ also meant something else from what he understood from his dad but he was fairly certain that meaning didn’t apply here. He listened, his own thoughts rolling; a robot and a pokemon? Eh, he wasn’t surprised. Far be it from humans to avoid messing with the laws of nature and s**t. If they thought they could build it better than they’d certainly try and pokemon were no exception. "Just slam a dead pokie in some steal an’ yeh golden," he remarked, paying homage to the number of pokemon out there who were just possessed items. Though that probably wasn’t the case here.
"Oh?" The Aussie looked a little confused by the sudden request, glancing between Mel and the Cybun that was staring him down. Honestly, under normal circumstances he might’ve considered a random robot rabbit staring at him unnerving, but for Lafayette well, it was just weird. Didn’t he get enough staring from Cheri? He titled his head as he figured out what she wanted though and gave a nod. "Well, alrigh’…," sticking his hand up and out so that Kiwi could latch onto his fingers, index and middle respectively. He tested the weight once she was latched and then with only a little grunt, managed to lift her a bit up off Mel’s lap. He shot a grin at Mel. "Hm, she ain’ all that heaveh sheila. Made it sound like I’d be liftin’ a Wailord or somethin’."

Mel smirked a little, trying not to look embarrassed at the connection. "Well... yes," she admitted, giving a shrug, "I dunno, it seemed fitting." She raised her eyebrows in shock at his next.... suggestion? Statement? Assumption? And then looked worried. "I-- no. I mean... Um... Wot?" She finally gave a little laugh, though it was more out of uncertainty on whether he was being serious, or what... he meant. Did he mean a dead body? Was he trying to suggest that was in Kiwi? She was pretty sure her brother would have mentioned if he saw (or smelled) that when he worked on the pokemon...
Shaking off the thought, she distracted herself with an odd request of Lala. Kiwi held on once his hand was presented, and she smiled as he lifted it up-- and then stood, brushing herself off. It became a bit clear that really, she had just handed the pokemon off to him, so that she could easily stand up, and grab her things, before collecting the pokemon into her arms. More clear at the smug little smile on her face. "Oh I know," she replied, further confirming this. She shrugged, though, her expression relaxing. "I do think she's pretty heavy for her size, though," she added casually, "I mean it makes since, given she's all metal, but still." She paused, realizing she'd picked up Lala's (default?) to calling Kiwi female. It matched... Or at least, it matched what she had in her head. Typically, she managed to keep to calling Kiwi by gender neutral terms, since it had no gender, but if she did go with one (or lean towards one, like with naming it), it was typical female.

Lafayette caught the worry in her voice from his remark about dead pokemon, giving her a look. What? Was something wrong? Was Mel not aware of those pokemon stories? It didn’t occur to him that his wording was rather ambiguous and might’ve represented the wrong idea he had. "Yeh, know, spirits?" Head shaking, he let the conversation slide off into the abyss.
He levied the Cybun up with his fingers, stepping back a bit though as Mel suddenly got to her feet and collected her things. "Yeh could’a jus’ asked meh ta hold it sheila," he mused, watching her a moment as she took the rabbit from hanging off his hand. "Eh, suppose. Metal ain’ light in general so," he shrugged, tilting his head thoughtfully.
He gave a grin at her inquiry, giving a solid nod. "Sure, why not." Turning his attention to the waters. Noah was still taking a swim here and there and he gave a sharp whistle to capture the Dewott’s attention. Cheri was… still idling nearby as well, head turning to address the man at the sound. "C’mon you two. Stay close." He commanded, Noah giving a whine but following along the shoreline once they started moving. Cheri toddled up to him as well, staring at the odd creature in Mel’s arms now.

"Wha’d yeh think I meant sheila?" Lafayette said, an amused look on his face. The relief on her face had him questioning just what she thought he was talking about. He chuckled when she confirmed that the Cybun was just a piece of technology, not a haunted metal contraption. "Yeh sure? Looks like tha’ kinda thing yeh would shove a spirit in," because that’s what he would’ve done if he was all about the supernatural spooks and such. Place them in cute little bunny things to throw off the populous.
"So cheek’eh Mello," Lafayette said. A smirk crossed his face though, clear indication that he took no offense to being tricked into free labor for the moment. Attention on the beach (and Noah at times as the Dewott hustled along the shoreline) he cocked an eyebrow at Mel’s inquiry. Hadn’t he mentioned that before? Or was that with someone else? He tended to have good memory but the recent events had his mind jumbled.
"I’m from Aniville, righ’ here in Uni," he looked thoughtful a moment though, getting a feeling that maybe she was expecting more to the answer than just that. "Meh da’s from… Orro? Somethin’ like tha’… and me mum’s from Kali." He rubbed under his chin thoughtfully, looking at Mel curiously. "’Bout you? Yeh a native or somewhere else?"

Lafayette gave a laugh at the corpse response. Of course not! What kind of corpse would fit in something so small? That’s why he’d thought spirits and all; corpses in electronics? What was this, some horror indie game? It sounded like a good premise for one.
He grinned some as Mel tried to decode his words; with a nod he confirmed the Kalos part as she spoke though looked a bit confused as she inquired about whether he meant Johto. "Ah… no sheila. Orre. It’s a place. Far away or somethin’ like tha’." He remarked, rubbing his chin. That was about how he knew it; his dad wasn’t much for telling about where he came from and Lafayette wasn’t much for asking. "Hear it’s kinda… bleak? Or somethin’ I ain’ sure. Might even be wrong, but yeh. It’s about." He gave her an amused look, "it ain’ nothin’ like Johto though, can promise yeh tha’."
