Mel chuckled, despite the... lack of manners going on. "Nothing," she replied innocently, but waited for him to elaborate. She tilted her head as she listened, thinking back. He'd... mentioned that? She knew he'd mentioned where his dad was, but, gosh, her memory was blanking on whether he'd mentioned his mother was from Kalos. She looked back at him after a thoughtful side-look, but smiled with quizzical interest at the mention that she would cook for the train. "Y'mean, she was a chef? Or.... baker, or whatever the term is? As a profession?" she asked. Honestly, she always envied that profession. Secretly she'd always wanted to be able to make those amazing cakes and beautiful little confectionaries and spend time decorating them, but.... well, even step-by-step directions she sometimes messed up.
Which was why she blinked at the question, staring blankly a moment before giving a nervous sort of chuckle and smiling, just a taaad embarrassed. "Ah, well... To be honest, I didn't... have a lot of range. I'd say mac 'n cheese was something I got pretty good at," she admitted, rubbing the back of her neck. Because trying just about anything else often resulted in about 30% char. She once actually sort of managed to cook a turkey, but even that came out a bit.... darker on one side than it was supposed to be.

Lafayette made a questioning face; clearly not buying that there wasn’t something else to her remark. He shook his head and set the glass with the rest of his dishes, chuckling as he shook his head. Lafayette eyed Mel a moment as she became nervous, a sly grin crossing his face. If the admission that her best dish was ‘mac n’ cheese’ wasn’t enough evidence, then her actions certainly were. He couldn’t help but give a hearty laugh in resonse, trying his best to avoid jostling the table in the process. That was funny; too funny. He caught his breath and wiped a tear out his eye, still grinning as a thought seemed to come to mind. Yeh evah tried the Barbie, Mello? Yeh meant tah give things a burnt taste with tha’,"" he commented with amusement. He got up from his chair, stretching in place a moment and giving a glance at Noah, who looked more than full from his fruit consumption and ready for a nap.

Mel quirked her head a bit, smiling. "Yeah? Tha' sounds fun, though. Havin' her available to cook for you and everythin'," she remarked, then straightened up a bit. She leaned forward, resting her arms on the table with interest. "You mentioned the trains. I've heard about them some, I think, but what are they like exactly? They've got something to do with battling, haven't they?" she queried. Maybe she'd check that out sometime... She needed to get back onto her training, after all. Well, after this.
She pressed her lips together and rolled her eyes as he burst out laughing, but leaned back and just folded her arms over her chest. Aha ha, yes, very funny, she couldn't cook. She couldn't help but smile a little, but waited out his laughing, before giving him a look with a raised eyebrow, in a very "Are you done?" sort of way. She blinked at the question, though, taking a moment to piece together what he meant, before rolling her eyes again. "No, I haven't. Not really, anyway," she replied, not sure whether he was being serious or not, "My dad had me help me once, but I was really young. I've sort of wanted to since then, but haven't had much chance." Cities weren't the best for barbecue, after all, and though there had been family gatherings and even city events where people could set up and grill, she was usually busy doing other things, or got pulled away from the food, before she could give grilling a chance.
She straightened as he got up, moving to stand as well, and stretching, shaking her head to the question and running a hand back through her short hair. "Nah, I'm ready if you are," she replied, Lucy swinging herself up to hang on Mel's back, "You still interested in seeking out justice for Bri? We'll probably have to go to the city ta do that. No guarantee we'll find 'em today, either." She started walking to the exit (and to pay, she hadn't forgotten that), and checked the time. She was starting to lose track of all the plans they'd made, at this point. Didn't they still have a swimming and fighting competition set up for tomorrow?

Lafayette gave a cheeky grin. "Yeh… it is," he commented, a sort of homesick look crossing his face as he thought about it. He was reminded again that he’d failed to inform his parents of his incident or how he was doing. It didn’t help that the chatter about them was making him miss them too… a conundrum that he really needed to address at some point.
"They’re rippin’ amazin’ sheila! Yeh can have blues on’em with otha’ trainers!" He announced with a grin, leaning in and giving the table top a pound with his fist. "Ye tak a ride and ovah the course’a that travel ya get ta figh’ and show yeh toughe’ than others! It’s a rip snortin’ time… a show as you go!" Honestly if his tone wasn’t enough proof of how amazing he thought the whole system was, then there wasn’t much else he could do to prove so. "Yeh def have ta give it a go sheila! It’s amazin’," and with that he gave a solid nod of approval.
He grinned and gave her a gentle nudge of the shoulder, eyebrow quirking. "Nah?" Well that was a right shame! Nothing really stoked the fires (nor made it right to burn food) like a good barbecue. He thought about it a moment before giving her a gentle smile. "Well we’ll have ta change tha’! Mahbeh when ya’ free, can get togetha’ ‘n have ourselves a ‘que!" That was probably the best way to rectify the situation and see exactly to what degree she went about burning food. Not that that was his intention or anything; he just could’ve gone for some barbeque at some point.
Lafayette glanced at Noah as the Dewott got to his feet, happily rubbing his stomach in glee from the consumption of food before looking at Mel curiously. He thought a moment about her offer, straightening up and pointing a thumb at his chest with a wicked grin. "A’course! If’n yeh are sheila. I don’ mind throwin’ down a buncha blokes, got a tha’ nerve ta try thievin’ a mate," he said. He was more than willing to punch something, though that was if Mel was down for it. "If it ain’ too late for ya that is." He blinked and thought a moment, giving Mel a look "Yeh gonna need yeh mate Z ta track’em down?" He inquired as they walked to pay, handing over the card that apparently covered his end of the meal business and tapping to let the man know to take payment for Mel’s as well, whether she managed to catch it or not. He recalled her talk about him and such; chasing criminals without him seemed like a bad move on her part.

Mel gave him a sympathetic look, before offering a slightly more playful version and giving him an equally playful, empathetic pat on the arm. She withdrew her hand as Lafayette boisterously described the trains, chuckling a bit and giving him a quizzical look in return. "It sounds brilliant. Have you actually done much battling in it, though?" she queried. Not that she doubted he had, or anything, but she was admittedly curious if he was speaking out of first hand experience, or having just been raised in the environment.
She couldn't help but let a smile unfurl over her face at his suggestion of having a barbecue, looking both endeared, grateful, and a bit skeptical. "Well, I'd certainly be willing to try, but I hope you like your meat well done, just in case," she remarked with amusement. She followed along to the entrance, waiting behind him slightly for her turn to pay, adjusting her purse. "We certainly may as well check. I need to make sure Bri was able to get a room and maybe change into something, anyway," she commented. She paused, looking at him curiously, "How long are you planning on staying here, anyway?" She paused again, but then shook her head, smiling and waving a hand to his question, a smile unfurling across her lips. "Nah, don' worry about it. Think I'll be fine. Besides---" She paused, then continued almost seamlessly, "It's about time I practice more on my own," with a playful smile. She totally hadn't nearly made a comment that might have been taken wrong, given what little interaction Lafayette and Z had had. "Ahhh… nope. Ain’ had a chance," Lafayette responded honestly, giving her a cheeky grin still though. "Mahbeh I’ll have ta though! Mah pokies are strongah now!" Which was the primary reason he’d never tried himself. It was hard to take on the battle subway without a decently strengthened team, but thinking back on it, it was probably something he’d be able to do now.
He laughed at the remark and grinned, giving her a wink. "I s’pose I can handle mah snags not bleedin’ and rollin’." He mused, giving another little chuckle. He did have to wonder how bad she could burn something like barbecue but he had a cast iron stomach so… he could certainly fake like he wanted to eat it. Or maybe she wasn’t giving herself enough credit? Certainly, Mel couldn’t be all that awful. But time would only tell if he got a chance to witness that.
"A’igh’ sheila Sounds like a plan… need ta get outta these togs mahself," with his hand he tugged at the swim trunks he was still sporting. One did not go chasing criminals down in swim trunks. He was caught off guard by her follow up question, making an uncertain face as he seemed to consider the answer. He honestly didn’t know how long he could or even should stay… maybe once all was said and done he’d check in with Juliean just to be on the safe side.
"Oh yeh? Yeh a bold one sheila. I loike tha’ ‘bout yeh, Mello." Lafayette grinned and nudging her gently with a fist to her shoulder, completely ignoring the deadpanned look ath followed with the realization that he had snuck in and paid for the meal in full. She might’ve been a bold one but well, even Lafayette knew how to slip through cracks and pull a fast one. He didn’t do anything to address it, instead proceeding on as though things were ordinary. "So how ‘bout yeh check ya mate ‘n we can meet up back at the door there?" He commented once they’d walked out to the lobby, eyeing her curiously for confirmation.

Mel smirked. "You have to," she remarked, nudging him, "Giving it such a review, and not trying it yourself. That'd be shameful." She was teasing, of course. She was already curious and willing to possibly try it, just from his review thus far. She could honestly use the training, too, though with all their joking plans, she would have a hard time fitting that in with everything else. It was too bad,t hough; she couldn't imagine she and Lala would be going the same way, or be in the same place much, but she actually did like the idea of actually doing some of these things. He was good company, for the most part.
She laughed a little and rolled her gaze off to the side. "Ahhh, well.... tha's good. 'Cause I don' thinkt hey'll be doin' much of either," she remarked, admittedly not at all sure what that exactly meant. She assumed 'snags' meant meat or steak, and 'bleedin' was, well... bleeding. Rare. She wasn't sure what "rolling" referred to, though... She looked back at him, then raised her eyebrows and glanced down at his swim trunks. She'd forgotten he was wearing those, somehow. She flashed a smile, though, as she lifted her gaze back up. "Right, fair enough," she remarked with amusement.
She chuckled at the... compliment? Compliment. "Heh, thank you," she replied, smirking some in amusement. She didn't really think she was being that bold, but then again, Lafayette was being pretty playful, so she wasn't really sure just how seriously to take him. She gave him a light punch back, after the realization of his payment, but left it at that, lips pressed together in just the slightest of smiles. So unexpectedly clever of him. She nodded to the plan, but adjusted her bag and looked down. "Think Bri headed into Hay...hee.... whatever it's called. So I should probably head that way. I'll give him a call, though, and see if I can reach him. If I can, I'll wait outside, but if I'm not there, want to just meet at the pokecenter in town?" she suggested.

Lafayette gave a laugh, cheeky grin still on his face. Boy, it was a surprise that it didn’t seem to hurt him to be grinning so much. It was nice though, to be back in such jovial moods. "I think I gotta eye feh rippin’ blues, Mello. Doub’ a train with fightin’ can be anythin’ but great!" He boasted followed with a thumbs up (which totally would’ve been a double thumbs up if… well, it was what it was.).

He commented, thumbing his nose briefly before turning and continuing to walk, not at all phased by the light punching he received for his undermining of her paying for her own meal. He tilted his head though as she remarked on Brian heading off to one of the cities. "Oh yeh? Afta’ takin’ a lickin’ like tha’? Brave bloke." He remarked thoughtfully before nodding in response to her suggestion. "Sure! Sounds good sheila, I’ll see ya in a bit," with that he gave a little wave, turning and making his way for the elevators in the resort to head up to his room and get himself changed into more fitting attire for beat downs.

Mel smirked smugly. "Yeeaeh, y'know, I'm actually not too surprised to hear that you've got an ey efor fighting, Lafayette," she remarked. Not that that was a bad thing, and the smile on her face sort of gave that away. "Sort of reminds me of my dad, actually," she mused, looking thoughtful, then giving a devious sort of smirk, "Speaking of, he taught me everything he knows on fighting, so I hope you're still fully intending to do that little sparring match we talked about. Been a while since I got some good practice in." Because she couldn't let that go, especially not with even the slightest reminder of her father.
She quieted down some on the subject of Brian. "Mm..." was her simple response, her gaze directed ahead as she drifted off into thought. Come to think of it, Brian actually was a pretty brave individual, despite his bizarre phobia. Even that, he sort of tried to cope with as best he could. And everything else, he just.... dealt with. His caution sometimes made him seem like a coward to some people, but an awareness of how things could go wrong, and some wariness to take risks, was different than being unwilling to face danger, or being a coward. Though it was a.... pretty thin line in some situations. She often forgot that; even she tended to think of Brian as a bit of a coward at times.
She nodded, and headed outside, pulling out her communicator and dialing up Brian. "Hey, where are you?" he asked, receiving a deadpan look from his friend that, of course, he couldn't see. "I'm just outside the hotel. We're about to head that way. Any trouble while you were walking?" she replied, checking the time. "No. He's coming?" he asked, a frown to his voice. She rolled her eyes. "Yes, he's coming. I'm going to need to get changed real quick, so would you mind grabbing some of my clothes so I can just duck into the bathroom?" she asked, glancing over to the entrance to check for Lafayette. At least she was able to reach Brian, so that she could wait outside, but hopefully the Aussie wouldn't take too long, and they could head over and get started on this "search".

"Ohhh yeeehhh?" Lafayette droned with a smirk in his voice, though a sudden look of interest crossed his face as Mel brought up her father. Right, she had mentioned he was a fighting expert or something earlier, right? Something like that; he’d managed to teach her so to him that made him an expert. "A’course Mello! I ain’ one ta back down from a challenge," he puffed his chest out a bit and grinned. "Yeh ain’ goin’ ta have yeh rock slug ta help ya though. That’d be cheatin’," and a second round of annoying embarrassment that he didn’t want to go through again. He was still looking forward to it, given the circumstances.
Arriving at his room, he slipped the key in the slot and headed inside. It didn’t take long to swap his trunks for his jeans and he pondered for a moment swapping the shirt for… well anything less ugly. He didn’t appear to have anything else though and so, begrudgingly, kept the floral printed green thing he’d received at the hospital. A quick dig through his bag revealed his hat, the missing back portion marred with the teeth marks of the Sharpedo. He frowned hard, standing in silence a moment before he flung it out and placed it as securely as he could on his head.
Sharpedo bite or nah, he wanted his hat. Plus, there was an element of badass-ness to the battle scars it bor. He dug about again and unleashed Cheri, the pokemon now less jittery than before. "Cher, you stayin’ here. Want yeh to watch the place a’igh’?" He remarked, eyeing the little pink ball of an Espurr. She stared back with a blank expression before promptly pointing to his communicator. Was she still on that thing? Who was she conversing with that held such interest? Or maybe she was harassing Juliean… that’d be a hoot. And trouble. "Foine, foine." He muttered, holding his wrist out and allowing her to unsnap it. She flopped back on the bed with the communicator, giving a little nod at him to confirm that she would do as he asked. Which was good; in the event anything happened or he… ended up in jail, someone needed to keep his things taken care of.
With that settled and his other pokemon’s pokeballs attached to his belt, he headed out the room and back downstairs, outside the resort to spot Mel on her call. He waltzed over, giving her, a curious look as though asking ‘you ready, remaining quite since it was semi-rude to be interrupting a person on the phone. At first instinct had him wanting to cross his arms over his chest, but upon realization that that… wasn’t a thing, he simply shoved his hand in a pocket of his jeans. This was still going to take some getting used to…
Cheri in the meantime, had nestled herself comfortably in a small fort of stacked pillows she’d collected. She took note of the text Cloud had sent, reading over it before diligently typing out a response.
Text to Cloud: I am well, I was concerned you had forgotten that we were engaged in a conversation. That is a shame; I received a lot of ice cream. It was quite good. They have ice cream here, you should find some. We were there as well but did not stay long. My trainer was unhappy. Another trainer bought us food, it was nice. I do not dance, I have never tried. My trainer can’t dance, it is like watching a statue fall over. Or so I assume. What music do you dance to? You dance to music, don’t you? We should try to encounter on another next time. I bet music is tasty. Can you eat music?

"Oh, don't worry," she reassured, before flashing a devilish smirk, "I can easily beat you by myself." She gave him another nudge, before they parted ways, and she headed downstairs to make her call.
Luckily, it didn't take the Aussie long, and she turned away once she spotted him, checking her purse to make sure she had everything. "Yeah, sure," came Brian's reluctant response, and she shifted the phone, giving a glance and a nod of her head to Lafayette before starting towards the bridge. "Great, thanks Bri. See you in a few," she replied, before hanging up. She looked back over at Lafayette, an amused expression crossing her face. "So, no change of shirts available, I take it? Or is floral jsut you're favorite pattern there is?" she teased.

Lafayette waited patiently as Mel wrapped up her conversation, eyeing her curiously as they started moving along. "Yeh mate gonna bring yeh a change a clothes?" He inquired with a tilt of his head. He imagined that was probably what was going down, though scoffed as the conversation shifted to his choice of dress.
"Hah hah, Mello. Yeh got a rippin’ sense for laughs, don’thca?" He joked back, giving an exaggerated roll of his eyes, though a playful grin was plastered across his face as he did. His attention did briefly turn to his shirt, tugging at the ends of it in dissatisfaction. He would’ve liked to have had some other shirt options to be honest but well, clearly, that wasn’t in the cards. "Yeh though, need ta get mahself shoppin’ or somethin’," he let go, reaching up and tapping the brim of his hat. "Still got meh hat though, so tha’s all good."

Cheri busied herself building a fort from the covers and pillows of the bed, having built herself a semi-sizable fort before the communicator buzzed with a returned message. Pausing in her antics she retrieved the device, looking over the response from Cloud. Oh, he was learning? So was she, she supposed. Though not exactly the way he was, more than likely. She thought a moment about her response before she typed it out, resting the device a little bit away from her creation to assure the vibration didn’t ruin her creation.
Text to Cloud: Well that is good, I am pleased to hear that. I think others have forgotten my conversations. It is very rude. I had a flavor that shared my name. It was delicious. I also tried 57 other flavors. They were also delicious. What flavor do you think you’d like? You really need to. He was unhappy because a bigger pokemon sat on him. I suppose that was a hug. He doesn’t like hugs; he’s not a huggy guy. Maybe I will try with his Dewott. That thing might hug him. Wouldn’t spinning make you sick? You shouldn’t try to get sick. I would like to learn to dance, though without the spinning. My trainer doesn’t dance, he would probably fail. I bet it is very tasty. We’ll need to find a way to taste it.
