Lafayette didn’t make any indication that Mel’s sudden look of shock at his answer, just watching her curiously as he waited for a response. He could tell she’d gotten fairly worked up quickly with his response and was waiting on an argument; he certainly wasn’t an arguer but he wouldn’t back down if it turned that route. Instead though, he went from ready to fight to confused surprise as she pulled out a pokeball and pressed it into the palm of his hand.
Wait what?
She didn’t agree with him and so … she was… giving him one of her pokemon for a bit? For what? His expression was riddled with confusion, mix-matched gaze staring at Mel and trying to piece together exactly what the point of this exercise was about. Z? That was… her Zygarde right? The legendary? She was… lending him… her legendary?
What?
Lafayette’s gaze narrowed for a moment. He honestly couldn’t see the point to this and stared at the pokeball in silence. He smirked a bit at the remark that he could wrestle Z if he chose to go that route, chuckling, and eyeing her with a lazier look. "Oh yeh? Yeh realleh think so sheila?" He inquired, eyeing the ball. He thought a moment and laughed, shoving the ball back towards her with a shake of his head. "Not sure it’ll realleh work Mello. Don’ think you’re gettin’ what I’m sayin’." He commented, giving a little head jerk to Brian, who’s horribly shocked expression he’d noticed. "Yeh mate also seems agains’ the idea with a face like that." Because damn, did Brian look like he’d just witnessed some horrific crime against sanity. Which was probably fair. "Not tha’ I would love ta have a good blue with yeh Zyo an’ all." Maybe he’d take her up on that much if that was what she was going for.
"Yeh. Pretty much. Just… collect pokies and such." He shrugged. That was pretty much what he did right? Right. Collect pokemon, collect things, collect badges, collect…. Random plastic eggs. A lot of collecting. Maybe his job title should’ve been ‘collector’ instead. He beamed a grin again when she did, happy to see that she took his compliment so well. Yes, she was a proud one and had a right to be, at least in his mind. "Yeh, you bet! Them crims ain’ much…," Actually that brought to mind something and absently, his expression grew a little more serious. "You goin’ chase down them Plasma blokes?" His tone was rather… thoughtful and off. But he looked genuinely curious about her answer on that.
Cheri walked up and stood at the foot of the chairs that their trainers were occupying with Phia still in her paws. "How does that work? Smoke isn’t normally very good for you." She inquired, watching as their trainers spoke amongst one another, eyeing the pokeball Mel was attempting to give her trainer. "Why is your trainer attempting to give away her legendary?" She inquired.
Noah of course, was watching and keeping his distance. He honestly wanted to go play in the water but the unnerving sight of Cheri and Phia together killed his mood in that regards. Plus, he hadn’t gotten permission, which he felt he needed before he could do such a thing. So carefully, with as much skill as he could muster, he attempted to maneuver around Cheri and Phia to the opposite side of Lafayette, waiting for the man to acknowledge his presences while keeping an uneasy look out for the pair at the other end. He really didn’t trust that combo…

Mel shrugged at Lafayette's dubious questioning. She immediately slid back, into Brian, putting her hands up to decline him trying to return the pokeball. "I'm sure he is, but Z can take care of himself. It won't hurt to have him around for a bit, will it?" she pointed out, then placed her hands back on her lap, still keeping distance to avoid being handed the pokeball. "'Sides, he'd help me keep an eye on you," she added in playfully, a slylook on her face.
She nodded as he explained, looking thoughtful, and finishing off her drink. Brian had already finished his, and, annoyed at being dismissed, now stood up. Mel had been leaning against him slightly, to still avoid Lala's efforts to return Z, and nearly fell, shooting him a frown, before turning back to Lafayette. "You have some run ins of your own?" she asked curiously. She blinked when he mentioned Plasma, then frowned, leaning in with a serious look. "Why? They didn't take your pokemon or anything, did they?" she asked in a low voice.
"Either of you guys want another drink? I'm gonna go get a refill," Brian popped up, not really looking at either, despite the offer. He was instead looking at Cheri and Phia, who were headed their way. "i am a fire type," was Phia's way-too-simple response to Cheri's curiosiity. She might explain more, maybe, if the espurr was really so curious as to ask more, but she doubted she was. ".... I do not know. I hope she succeeds," she replied simply. She didn't hate Z, she wasn't even necessarily serious, but.... it was just in her nature to be more cynical and biting, than even neutral.

Lafayette frowned, still holding the pokeball out to Mel. An eyebrow quirked at her wording; keep an eye on him? Was he going somewhere? That sounded like a far more permanent situation than he was comfortable with. "Wha’ Mello you sayin’ mah pokies ain’ enough to keep me outta trouble?" He teased, rolling the ball in his hand. Honestly, he could probably just… find a way to sneak it back to her if she wasn’t going to take it but for now, he supposed he could humor the suggestion. "A’igh’ then sheila. If yeh insist." He eyed the ball a moment considering unleashing the legendary to introduce. That was the polite thing to do, right?
He was quiet a moment at her question of if he’d had run-ins of his own, a thoughtful expression crossing his face. Well technically yes but… not the way she was probably thinking. Far from it. In fact, really thinking about it, Lafayette shouldn’t have brought them up to begin with but it’d just slipped by. It took a moment of thought before he shook his head. "Yeh, back at a renny faire that was goin’ on." He replied. It was fortunate that’d happened because he wasn’t about to try and come up with a reason he’d asked. He shrugged. "They tried te snag peeps pokies but, didn’ get none of mine." Save for that whole freezing situation with Micah; that caused him to bristle in agitation. He really did wonder what Zinzolin was up to at this point after that. Maybe he’d ask Juliean if he’d found anything.
"But yeh.. they're a hassle and since you’d be in Uni, though’ you migh’ have ta deal with’em." He glanced at Brian as he was up, noting the odd little situation and considering the offer with a grin. "Sure mate, anotha’ beer be nice." He remarked, noting Brian’s gaze not on them but on the pokemon, gaze following as he frowned. "Cheri wha’ the hell you doin’?"
"Oh, really? You don’t look like a fire type. You look like a plant." Cheri remarked curiously, head tilting just a bit to take a look at Phia from the back. Like there wasn’t that much to see, but she strongly resembled the bulb on Eve’s back when she was a simple Bulbasaur and Cheri was certain that she was a grass type, not fire. "Fire and plants don’t mix, so how are you fire? Are you constantly burning on the inside? Have you tried sugar instead of burning people?"
She came to a pause and glanced up at Brian when she saw him stand. "Should we go with him? He doesn’t seem to enjoy the conversation." She inquired, eyeing Brian a moment and actively ignoring the inquiry of her own trainer.

Mel chuckled and waved a hand through the air. "Not at all, love," she reassured him with just as playful a smile. She could practically hear Brian biting back his own comment -- probably something about that arm of Lala's -- and silently appreciated his silence. She nodded and relaxed when Lafayette finally accepted the offer, moving closer to her original seat. She quirked her head to the side when he mentioned.... a 'renny faire'? "What's that? Like.... a Renaissance fair?" she guessed, visibly confused. She.... hadn't... heard about that. Dammit. She'd need to see if any of her coworkers, or the station, had any reports of files on that.
"I'm glad you're pokemon didn't get snagged, at least...." she mumbled, looking down in thought. The ball rolled in his palm once more before he finally clasped his hand around it, head bobbing once in a final affirmative nod. "A’igh’ sheial, yeh got me. I’ll keep’em feh a bit though don’ think it’s gonna change much." He commented, attaching the ball to his belt as final confirmation of his agreement. He’d just shove it back on her later or something… if he remembered. "Yeh, a Renaissance faire." Lafayette commented, saying the word slowly as he did; it was a bit of a mouthful to say the whole thing surprisingly, he really needed to use his words more often but strine was just… easier.
"Yeh, I wasn’ gonna let’em." He grinned and shook his head, raising a hand and nodding at Brian as he snatched up the bottle. Brian still looked a bit miffed… he wondered what was up. He redirected his gaze to the pokemon again, frowning and squinting. Helping… that wasn’t something he quite expected from Cheri, especially regarding pokemon she wasn’t familiar with. He felt like something was up, but she certainly wasn’t giving him any vibes to go off. Suspicious.
Cheri in the meantime frowned a little, squinting against the emission of heat. Ah, well that was certainly unique. "Oh," she remarked, falling quite a moment. "How do you avoid setting yourself on fire?" So many questions to be asked and so little time. The Espurr gave a nod at the meager response, toddling in the direction of Brian as indication that they would be proceeding to follow him wherever he was going, the Espurr staring up at the man. "Are sweaters good to eat? I’ve never tried a sweater before."
"Hm…," Lafayette murmured as he watched the two, looking over as Noah tapped his arm to finally grab his attention. How long had he been standing there? "Dew! Dewott!" The otter started up, though Lafayette’s attention was still rather split. Before the otter had a chance to indicate his desire to go to the water, Lafayette spoke up. "Go with’em Noah. Make sure Cheri don’ do nothin’ to Mello’s pokie." The Dewott visibly deflated, looking terrified at the prospect. The Aussie just frowned, flicking the pokemon in the head and pointing. "Don’ be a wuss, you ain’ doin’ nothin’ anyways." Noah whined but did as he was told, anxiously turning and watching a moment before he tried to stalk after. This was the last thing he wanted to do.

Mel grinned as Lafayette conceded and put away Z's pokeball. She crossed one leg over the other, her hands resting on her lap. She nodded, looking thoughtful. "And... Team Plasma was there?" she queried, curious. How odd.... A frown crossed her face. Why hadn't authorities been able to stop them, then? She knew that the police forces around the regions could be.... questionable at times, but.... still....
She chuckled a bit. "No, I wouldn't imagine you were," she remarked with amusement, "I imagine if anyone tried to take your pokemon, they would end up with a few broken limbs instead." Gosh she wished Brian would get back with her drink, she missed sipping it after playful remarks like that. Instead, she leaned back. "Have you had much encounters with.... 'crims', Lala?" she asked curiously. She was a bit distracted by the pokemon, but given they were apparently following Brian, didn't pay them much mind. She did look to Noah as he piped up, though. She smiled sympathetically. "Y'know, I doubt Cheri could do much to Phia. She's fairly strong. She could take care of herself, if you want to let Noah look around 'n such," she pointed out-slash-offered. She shrugged some at the question, though. "Probably, I guess. That or travel. Maybe swing back through Castelia to just.... check in. What about you? Planning to do some more 'research'?" she asked with a light smile.

"Mhm, they were." Lafayette remarked, frowning and giving her a look. "They were spoutin’ they’re normal drab. Tellin’ traina’s to releasin’ they pokies and liberatin’ an’ whatnot." He remarked, waiving a hand through the air absently. He knew the diatribe all too well, even tried to adhere to it when he was running with them. Which had gone south rather quickly… that was the past though. "Summoned these big ol’ pokies too ta figh’ the faire peeps. Took’em down though; weren’ that tough." Lafayette paused an eyed Mel a moment, noting her curiosity over it. She was from Unova right? It seemed kind of odd she hadn’t heard anything about it. "Yeh ain’ hear abou’ it sheila? Happened down near Ani Town an all."
"Yeh damn righ’ I would." He gave a cheeky grin, jabbing a thumb at his chest as he puffed it out in a bit of pride. He’d taken a thug or eight down during that whole commotion and despite a few hiccups, his team had held their own as well. He relaxed though as she inquired about encounters, frowning. The appropriate response would’ve been ‘every day’ because of his well… ‘status’ but that wasn’t something that needed sharing. That wouldn’t go over well with Juliean.
"No more than anyone else." He said with a shake of his head. Adjusting himself to lean against his chair again, he shrugged and waved a hand off in regards to Noah and him tagging along. The thought of it made him tired for some reason. "Doubt it’ll be anythin’ fun, tha’s for sure."
"I see," Cheri remarked. How interesting; though continuously needing to burn things was probably problematic overall. Like right now, where there was apparently nothing to be burnt on the beach. "Well yes, I noticed. But do they taste good?" She consumed to keep her energy up right? She assumed there had to be some flavor to it. Of course, Cheri could very much be understanding everything about the Sember’s consumption methods wrong. At the question regarding Noah, Cheri glanced at the Dewott and gave a little nod. "Yes, he is indeed a water type. Why? Is that a problem? Are you allergic to water as well?" That was an interesting thing to consider; grass was usually strong against water but with the added side of being fire, did it cancel out?
Noah sulked close to Brian, keeping a step or so ahead of the man to use him as a bit of a barrier between himself and the other pokemon. He didn’t trust them and he could hear them talking to some degree, though had stopped following along in his paranoia. Phia and her looking… that was unnerving. Why did he have to come along? Mel frowned, listening closely as Lafayette reported what had happened. She frowned, flushing a little when he seemed surprised that she hadn't heard. It happened in her region, too. Which... made sense, but still. "Oh, well... How long ago was it? I might've been out of the region," she admitted, frowning some. She sort of hoped the dates aligned. It would be kind of embarrassing not to have heard about something this big, while on active duty, in the very region it happened in. Not to mention concerning.
She grinned a bit at his confident response, nodding in approval, but letting the conversation flow forward. She listened with interest, curious, but then frowning, at his review of his plans. "You don't like gym battling?" she asked quizzically. That was odd. She would have thought he'd enjoy getting to battle, see who's pokemon were toughest, fight it out.... Maybe it was too much strategy for him? Or perhaps he just preferred to do things himself. Probably.... at least partially that, come to think of it....
Phia seemed to simmer a moment in thought. ".... I do not 'taste'," she replied. Then, after another long moment of consideration, corrected to, "... I have not thought much on 'taste'." It just wasn't something she really processed, let alone had an opinion on. She tended to burn her food too fast to really 'relish' or experience. Perhaps she would try paying more mind to that in the future.... Her tendrils writhed and her eyes narrowed at the suggestion that she was 'allergic' to water types. "... No. However, I could feed off him, if I needed..." she replied quietly, eying Noah. Brian glanced down at all the pokemon, frowning a bit. Just... what the heck was going on with them, even.... Lafayette frowned, eyes rolling up to the corners of his eyes as she tried to recall. "Not tha’ long ago… maybe month a so? Lil’more?" It certainly hadn’t felt like it’d been that long but then again… neither had two weeks and that’d flown by in the blink of an eyelid. "Was realleh big though… have a hard time thinkin’ others wouldn’ a heard ‘bout it." He shrugged again, watching Mel curiously as she took in the information. Maybe she’d been somewhere else? Or maybe news didn’t spread as readily as he thought it did; which was more than likely the case.
"Ain’ tha’." He shrugged. "I don’ mind battlin’ but… well the gyms don’ change too much. Always a typin’ just gotta handle that an’ yeh usually winnin’." Because brute force was all Lafayette did and thus, that’s all he saw when it came to the gyms. Sure there were like… tactics that the gym leaders used but well, he really didn’t care much when his primary was to punch their pokemon down. It was a lot easier. "Ju’ a lot a work. Get’s borin’. Wha’? You goin’ take on more of them gyms?"
Cheri was quiet as Phia remarked that she did not taste. Or rather that she hadn’t given much thought to it. ’That’s terrible.’ Why bother eating things if you weren’t going to taste them? Sure there was the whole survival aspect of it but even then one didn’t just consume things willy nilly. ’You really should. There are many interesting flavors out there and you should know which one’s you enjoy. You might be eating something terrible tasting. That’s bad.’ Where as all the junk she ever consumed was just pure good. At the mention of feeding off of Noah, the Espurr tilted her head and glanced at said companion, who was still moping close to Brian as the human made his purchases. ’Oh? Do you think Dewott taste good?’ Cheri inquired, thinking a moment before shifting her grasp of the Sember, lifting her up a bit. ’Would you like to feed off him? I’m certain he wouldn’t mind; he’s not smart enough to understand important things like taste.’

Mel considered. "I think I was getting Lucy around then," she mused, "I was in Sinnoh. I'd already started my, ah... er, 'sabbatical' from work, so... maybe that's why. Think everyone's trying to keep me out of the loop so I actually focus on this training business, and not chasing down 'crims." She gave a sarcastic roll of her eyes, clearly not supportive of this. She frowned a bit. "Wish I woulda heard about it, though. Seems like, 'sides the attack, would have been interesting..." And also, the attack. She would have liked to have been there herself.
Mel looked at him curiously. "Well, you could always try changing it up? Y'know... setting challenges for yourself, and such. Like, not using type advantages," she suggested with a playful smirk, "Or like using pokemon who are weak to those types. Or only using certain kinds of moves, or something." She shrugged. "I sort of know what you mean, though. I am going to be taking on more gyms, but it does start to feel like just something you need to get past, at a certain point, and when you've already got pokemon with an advantage for it, it's not exactly anythin' much more than just.... somethin' you need to do." She frowned. Yeesh. Listening to him, and thinking about it, it really did suddenly feel like gyms were more tedious, than challenging...
Phia, surprisingly, blinked, slowly in response to Cheri's comment. That was about all she did, though. She didn't say anything. She was quiet, and listened as Cheri picked up again, and gave her opinion on the matter. "So long as it burns..." But her voice sounded a mix of its usual menacing hiss, and something else. "Ahhh I suppose tha’ makes sense," Lafayette remarked, rubbing at his chin thoughtfully. If she was in another region at the time then yeah… he could believe word didn’t travel quite that far. Sinnoh had their own team troubles to deal with and all. "Fair enough."
Lafayette couldn’t help but grin at her suggestions on how he could liven up his gym battles, unable to suppress the chuckle that followed. "Yeh, I’ve done a bit of tha’ already." He grinned, holding a finger up now as he recalled, "Had Noah take on the Falkna’ fellah. No ice moves or nothin’." Of course, even then, the Dewott had still been considerably more powerful. Maybe such a difference would matter if he was competing with folks on his own level. "But… maybe I’ll give it a try," he quirked an eyebrow, "toughen’ ‘em up even when the odds are against ‘em. I like it." He gave a cheesy grin. He paused a moment, head tilting to the side as he thought. "Mmm… true. Ain’ much when they’s no challenge. Jus’ collectin’ to collect." He chuckled. "Need ta make a game or somethin’ outta it." There had to be something right? "Maybe I’ll jus’ go get’em all in a day or somethin’." He joked. He'd done it with those eggs why not badges too?
Cheri waited a moment for a response from Phia regarding Noah and the whole, getting a sample situation. She eyed the Dewott, who was still maintaining his distance and decided to some degree, this might’ve been preventing Phia from making a choice. At least until she actively took her up on the offer and struck the Dewott with a Giga Drain. "How did he taste?"
Noah gave a horrified cry, completely caught off guard by the sudden draining of his life force; flinging himself at Brian’s legs to try and put a barrier between himself and the other two. He was incredibly startled by the action, trying to recompose himself before giving a bit of a harsh shout at their direction, snatching for one of his shell’s in preparation to retaliate. How… how dare she! That little… bulb thing attacked him! And Cheri… Cheri she just let it happen?! What kind of team mate was she?

Mel let the topic of her lack of information (happily) slide. She quirked an eyebrow when Lafayette mentioned doing some little challenges already, but squinted one eye with a playful smirk as he explained. "Isn't... Falkner the first gym in some region? Or is he the second?" she tried to recall. 'Cause if he was either, and Lafayette's pokemon were overpowered for it, she wasn't reeeaaaally sure that counted. She actually beamed when he seemed to give the idea more consideration and positive review. "Exactly!" she agreed. She chuckled at the mention of a game, but outright scoffed and rolled her eyes at the suggestion he made. "Now that, I think, would be a challenge. You'd have to do loads of training in between, after all!" she pointed out. She paused, looking thoughtful, and then turning a gaze onto him. "... How many badges have you got, anyway?" she asked curiously.
Phia's tendrils writhed happily, or as happily as one could expect smoke streams to move. ".... Delicious," she replied in a quiet, soft voice, still staring at the Dewott. Of course, this didn't all go unobserved by Brian. He heard the attack and stopped on his way back to the group, frowning in confusion as he looked around for the source. He noticed it just as Noah cried out, and Phia absorbed the health, his eyes going wide. Had she just.... attacked the Dewott!?! He glanced down at the pokemon as it latched onto his leg, and he leaned down, sitting the drinks on the ground. He placed a reassuring hand on the pokemon's head, then gently moved him around, behind him, and off his leg. Only to stride over and violently grab Phia out of Cheri's hands, gripping her by the tops of her petals. "What the hell is wrong with you, Phia!? Did you just attack him!?" he demanded, furious. The sember gave a hissing, screech like sound when she was yanked, but stared back as he lifted her up, her eyes glowing. Her petals seemed to strain, parting slightly to release another billow of heat, the smoke rolling out from under her. He seemed to catch onto the threat and narrowed his eyes. "You know that if you attack me, Mel will never let you out of your pokeball," he threatened. He dropped her, frowning down as the pokemon winced slightly, bounced, then glared up at him as she got her 'footing', so to speak. "Don't do that again. You'll be lucky if she lets you out again after this," he muttered, before turning, and striding to snatch up the drinks. He took a much quicker pace, heading back to Lafayette and Mel with a visibly darkened expression. That fire bud was starting to really get on his nerves....

Lafayette thought a moment. "First." He remarked after a brief second a cheeky grin crossing his face. "Gym’s a gym’ though ain’ it? Seen people strongeh than mahself lose to birdos like tha’." A complete and utter lie but you know what? He believed it, because there were plenty of instances of terrible trainers losing when they shouldn’t.
He thought again, counting off in his head the shapes of the badges in his case. "Ehh… twenteh. Exactly." He did a double count before giving an affirmative nod. Yes, twenty was what he had so far across all the regions. Not bad, though there were still a few he needed to pick up. He chuckled. "Not tha’ much trainin’. Most mah pokies are strong enough, think we can jus’ barrel through’em if we tried." Brute force solved everything. He eyed her a moment. "How ‘bout you sheila? "
Noah, with a shell in paw, was ready to lash back at Phia for her transgressions when Brian got involved. He stiffened when the man knelt, placing a hand on his head to reassure, the Dewott’s eyes going slightly wide as he looked up. Admittedly, he wasn’t quite expecting any reassurance over what had happened and was even more surprised when he confronted Phia about the attack. By the time the reprimanding was done, he felt a slight cheey grin of his own crossing his face. Well it was good to see someone holding the little monster responsible. Quickly he toddled after Brian as he headed off, still using him as a barrier between himself and the other two as they returned to Mel and Lafayette, rubbing at his nose.
Cheri watched the situation, expression still blank even though Brian had so viciously ripped the Sember from her grasp. She watched and kept her gaze on Phia as she was dropped, watching a moment as Brian stormed away before retrieving the pokemon, picking her up once more. ’He appears to be upset.’ She commented, glancing after Brian and Noah before proceeding as well to follow. ’It’s not as though you did much harm… he’s not dead. I didn’t think he’d be delicious though.’
Lafayette looked away from Mel when he noted Brian and the others starting to stroll up, blinking and frowning in confusion at what appeared to be a rather dark expression on the man’s face. Something go wrong with the whole drink getting quest? "Somethin’ tha’ matta’, mate?" He inquired, glancing at Mel briefly to see if she had a clue why her friend was upset.

Mel smirked. "Who've you ever seen do that? You'd have to be some kind of terribly skilled, or jinxed, to pull that off," she remarked, amused, "Besides, Gyms are tiered to make the first ones pretty easy. Not to downplay your victory-- usin' no type advantages at all, 'n still using one pokemon, is fairly impressive." Just, not as much so as it might have been for, say, a third gym or something. She raised her eyebrows some when he gave his count, lifting her head a bit, and giving a clearly impressed look. "Well, that's pretty impressive," she remarked. She gave a skeptical look, still smiling, when he claimed he could take on all the gyms. "Really....? What's the strongest gym you've taken on?" she asked. She shrugged and added, "I'd challenge you to a battle to see for sure, but I'm fairly positive I'd lose," with a smug sort of smirk.
She shrugged as he asked her how many badges she had. "Oh, not very many at all. Just the four I've got from this region," she replied, though her gaze shifted over as Brian could be seen approaching. She frowned in confusion when she noticed his expression. Phia was fuming quietly in Cheri's hands. She didn't comment; she was too busy glaring violently at Brian and Noah's backs. Mel didn't get a chance to ask her own query; Brian immediately strode up, somewhat ignoring Lafayette's question-- though he did, oddly, hand him his beer as he passed -- and pointed at Mel. "Your pokemon is out of control," he accused, ignoring the shocked, and then very defensive, look that appeared on her face, "Phia attacked Lafayette's Dewott. And she almost burned me, earlier!" Mel stared, eyes round, before she hopped to her feet. "What? I... Lala I'm so sorry," she apologized, winded from the news. She seemed to immediately assume Brian was telling the truth -- which he was, of course, bu the course to action was pretty fast. She turned, frowning at Phia, and grabbing her pokeball off her bag. "I'm disappointed in you, Phia," she commented shortly, before recalling the fire pokemon, who was billowing smoke like a freaking factory. She recalled her, heaving a heavy sigh, before dropping back down, and snatching her drink from Brian to begin sipping it. She was... embarrassed, honestly, and felt bad that Lafayette's pokemon had taken damage. What the hell was wrong with that little fire bud?

Lafayette just scoffed, thumbing his nose and look as though he very much considered the opposite. "I’m thinkin’ I could." He remarked, a hint of unearned confidence in his tone. Now why he would want to was the real question. Taking on all those gyms was taxing, one after another would be even more so. Sure, sure the first one’s were easy… he wouldn’t deny that, but he’d cleared those out already so it was now nowhere but up!
The Aussie thought a moment again on the question of the strongest gym he’d taken on so far. "Eh… I’ve taken on the fourth gym fah… Hoenn an’ Sinnoh." So about the same level as her, with the forth missing for the rest of the regions. He’d need to get to correcting that eventually but for now, it was relaxing time. He gave a cheeky chuckle, gently giving her a nudge punch to the shoulder. "Tha’ ain’ the way ya should be thinkin’ sheila. But yeh, you’re probable righ’." He teased.
As attention shifted to Brian, Lafayette frowned a bit as his question was ignored, though he did take the beer the man passed him in the process. He was quiet, listening thoughtfully as Brian revealed the source of his anger, an eyebrow quirking in surprise as he directed his gaze to Cheri and Phia. Oohh… so that was what had happened. He was inclined to believe it too when Noah came rushing up and clung to his shirt, giving a peeved sounding whine and looking his own level of agitated.
"Eh… it’s alrigh’ sheila. It’s what pokies do." Lafyette remarked nonchalantly, making a face at Noah as he gave another whine. He set the bottle between his legs to hold before smacking the back of a knuckle against the Dewott’s head. "Don’ be a wuss mate. Git ovah it." He scolded before retrieving his beer and taking a swig, leaving a disheartened Dewott to plop on his butt and rub at his face, looking a bit upset.
"Look like yeh got a bit of a problem though there sheila. You goin’ ta be alrigh?" The question was directed at both Mel and Brian; half in regards to what seemed to be Mel’s embarrassment at the antics of her pokemon and to Brian, who seemed very upset all together. Well that was certainly a mood killer. Cheri toddled up and stared at the pair as well, now without relieved of her carrying duties it seemed. A shame, she was enjoying the conversation.
