He laughed along with the Professor, although it was more of an embarrassed one, after he mentioned he could've gotten what he needed at the PokeMart. It wasn't like the thought hadn't occured to him... but he'd been recommended to come here, and he did.
"Ah, thanks!" Hayes said as soon as the man had said he'd help him out all the same, mentioning something else as well that he didn't quite pick up on while the little Pokemon was yipping at him and checking him out. He smiled and crouched down, holding out a hand to it and inviting it closer after he had, but the shirtless stranger returned in short order and he straightened back up in order to accept all of the supplies - a generous amount, too. "Thanks again, it's appreciated... and I'll look into it?" He replied as he crouched back down again and put away all of the supplies; that had been at least the third time he'd heard about a challenge, it was probably time to look into what everyone was talking about - but he'd pass on asking the generous stranger about it as he'd already helped him out. Hayes gave the little Pokemon a scratching on it's (apparently rocky) mane before he stood back up and thanked the professor again before heading out of the shack, unaware he'd just spoken to a Pokemon Professor... and almost more importantly, hadn't even introduced himself or asked for the Professor's name.

▶Traveling from Ecruteak to Melemele Island took longer than Ciaran had expected. His parents had taken the day off to wish him well and bring him as far as Vermilion City, but from there it was an over night boat trip, and he had the unfortunate realization that he was easily sea sick. …It had not been a pleasant night for the 15-year-old. Finally, being off the boat and onto dry land helped his mood a little, but he was still fairly sour. He was just grateful his mother had enough forethought to pack him some green tea for the journey. Sadly, the ship kept their hot water well above optimal brewing temperatures, resulting in a tea as bitter as his mood. The walk from the ship to the lab in the bright Alohan sun felt nice, and Ciaran tried to pick up his spirit before walking in.
He walked in, took another sip from his thermos full of tea and made a face at the condition of the lab. He expected more from a—professional. He could see the signs of recent, and aged battle damage. He shook his head slightly at the sight. Having been raised as he had, he knew all the ways to properly repair said damage at the end of the night so the place didn’t look like two powerful monsters just tried to tear through it. He finished the last of his tea before turning his attention to the professor. “Hello Sir.” He said with a bow “I am here to receive a Rowlet if I may.” He said, straightening back up as he did so. As sour as he may have felt, he knew his mother would be greatly disappointed if he left his manners back in Johto.

Hey! Hope you don't mind me stepping in for Spectral, and welcome to the guild! : )
'Recent' battle damage was an understatement-- even as Ciaran approached the lab, Kukui was engaged in his usual practice of testing pokemon moves in person, up close, and... personally. Currently, he had a Hariyama holding him high above its head. "Alright, Hariyama, let's see your Vital Throw!" he urged, before the pokemon hurled him at the ground. The professor hit with a roll, jumping back up with enthusiasm, not looking the least bit hurt, and with a fist already held up. "Great! That--" He stopped when he heard the door open, and noticed another new trainer enter, a bright grin crossing his face from the brief expression of curiosity. "Alola, cuz!" he greeted, waving his hands in the traditional greeting. "'Course you can!" He moved over, grabbing the ball to toss it up, and catch it on its way down. "I don't suppose you'd be interested in these, too, would you?" he added, producing a pokedex, and several potions and pokeballs to help Ciaran get started.
▶‘Cuz?’Ciaran thought was a rise of his eyebrow. To be greeted so informally was odd to him, but he accepted it was probably just part of the culture here. His dad did warn him that Alohans tended to be friendly, sometimes to what someone from Johto might find extreme. His mother thought it would be good for him to learn about a new culture, but Ciaran figured even she would be a little weirded out.
“Uh, yes, thank you.” He said taking the pokeball containing Rowlet along with the other items. “That is very kind of you.” A small smile crossed Ciaran’s face. He fidgeted with the pokeball in his hands, before finally pressing the button. Out popped the small grassy owl. “I’ve read up on you, would you object to the name Robin?” the small bird hopped happily in response to the name chosen. “Good. Good I can work with that.” More and more of a smile started to spread on his face. He moved towards the exit of the lab
It was tough morning already for the violet haired male. Not because of the usual problems. But because his parents and sisters refused to let him leave the house to make his way to Professor Kukui's lab to get his first pokemon. To be honest, Florence was excited to be able to adventure out of his home and explore the world around him. Even if he couldn't see that well, the excitement was obvious to anyone that saw him wandering in the direction of the professor's lab on route one. At the moment, he had two pokemon at his side. One being held against his chest. The adorable black furred rattata being the one who was snuggled against Florence's chest. He held her with one hand while the other held out a long walking stick that helped him get around. The other being a white furred vulpix that was walking ahead of her trainer. Letting out soft calls to help him find which way to go.
These pokemon were gifts from his elder sister Amanda. She was a loving big sister that worried for Florence's safety. So when he was a little younger, he was gifted with these two wonderful pokemon and the three had been close ever since. At the moment his rattata was sleeping in his arms. The little pokemon known as Moonlight had spent the night awake much like many wild rattata did in alola. So Florence was alright carrying the beautiful female pokemon as she slept. Where Snowdrop, his vulpix took the lead in finding their way to the laboratory.
It wasn't long before Snowdrop let out a loud call as she pawed at his pantleg. This causing Florence to slow down and look down at the pure white fuzzy shape that made up Snowdrop's visual appearance. "Are we here Snowdrop??" he asked in a gentle and soothing voice before the fox pokemon called out once more. Signalling that they were indeed here at last. Looking up he turned his head left, then right, and finally saw the outline of a large building in his vision.
Smiling he gently reached down and patted Snowdrop on the head before the small group headed for the lab. Finding the door he entered the building and looked around curiously. His eyes rather dim in appearance were currently looking at all the colors inside the room. His eyes focusing on what looked like large structures that had floating pink blobs in them. Which was actually a large fish tank with luvdisc floating inside. Walking over he reached out and felt the glass of the tanks as he smiled happily. Knowing that it was a surface and not just something floating in mid air made him relax a bit.

Kukui had been down stairs, but came up when he heard someone enter the cave, racing Rockruff up the stairs, before sliding to a halt as he spotted the youth. "Ho! Hey there, cuz!" he greeted, looking at the teen quizzically. Was he checking out the aquarium? "Admiring the water works, huh? Those pokemon are said to gift couples with a blessed future if they encounter them," he remarked offhandedly. Not the most fiercest of fighters, but they were interesting. Wonder what it said about him that he kept them floating around his lab...? "So! What can I help you with?" he offered, boasting a broad grin with his hands on his hips. Rockruff gave a barked greeting in return, looking curiously at the boy's pokemon.

Florence blinked as he was staring up at the pink blobs that floated in the water. At least he was guessing water since it had been a glass case and there didnt seem to be any signs of colors that would signify a tree or walking area. His face going closer to the glass as he squinted his eyes. Trying his best to see what was inside. It helped that the luvdisc came close to the side he was on so he could make out what they looked like. He smiled when he saw the pokemon clearly due to a combination of squinting eyes and how close they were to his face with just the glass aquarium separating them. Pulling his head back he gently touched the spot of the glass he had been staring into. 'You two are quite beautiful pokemon~." he said blushing happily before he blinked when he heard the sound of someone running. Turning he looked around in confusion as he tried to pinpoint the sounds origin.
When his ears heard a greeting from a rather cheerful voice, he spun around in circles slightly before he saw the blur of color of two forms and stopped before turning back to look in the person's direction. "alola~" he said greeting the other in traditional alola style before he heard the others voice mention the aquarium. He smiled and nodded. "I saw something pretty colored and wanted to see what they looked like~." he said gently before Snowdrop let out a cute coo sound to Rockruff and gently walked over to greet the pokemon.
Moonlight was fidgeting in protest due to her waking up from the loud voice.This made Florence blink and looked down in the direction of where Moonlight was resting against his chest. "I'm sorry Moonlight.....did we wake you??" he asked curiously before the rattata let out a call to tell her trainer that was what happened. Florence looked worried at the sound of her call as he reached out and gently touched Moonlight on the head. "Sorry Moonlight..." he said apologetically before he heard her call of acceptance and he turned to look back in the blobby figures direction.
When the male asked what he could do for him, Florence smiled gently. "I'm here to start my journey in alola. I was hoping to get my first official pokemon." he said gently as he started to squint in the others direction. Getting slightly closer as he tried to see what the other looked like. His eyes going to tiny lines as he squinted hard to look at the other. When he finally saw the outlined features that were somewhat not blurry but still slightly were, he smiled and pulled back. He then looked down at the rockruff and knelt down to do the same to the tiny pokemon. Setting Moonlight on his lap before he picked up the pokemon and squinted to see what pokemon it was. Smiling gently once again when he saw the pokemon the best he could and picked up Moonlight once more and stood up. "Sorry if i'm getting to close. I...can't see that well. I know that some people feel uncomfortable when i do this." he said apologetically as he looked at the professor and backed up slightly.

Professor Kukui grinned, lifting his hands in the usual greeting when he was addressed. "Auie, that's for sure. These pokemon are real have a tendency to catch people's eyes," he remarked. He looked down at the rattata curiously as it stirred, though... didn't seem especially eager, or aware, to apologize for any noise he might have contributed. He nodded, though, as the young man remarked about starting his journey, though he raised his eyebrows when he got closer. Kukui didn't seem to mind, though. "Sure thing, cuz! Any one in particular?" he asked, watching as Florence then stepped back.
"Not a problem, cousin," he replied, waving a hand dismissively, "I don't mind!" Nope... Kukui was evidently a man with a very large comfort zone. No wonder he could observe pokemon's battle moves personally....

Florence smiled, relieved that the other wasn't uncomfortable due to how close he got. "That's good to know...I..don't want to make others uncomfortable if i can avoid it." he said with a relieved sigh before he heard the others question about what type of pokemon he wanted. Thinking about it he smiled and nodded. "I was hoping for a litten. My family all started with one. I'm just more relaxed around the pokemon." he said rubbing his neck a little as he held Moonlight with his other hand. The rattata clenching his shirt with her little paws as she looked around at the unknown environment she had woken up in. Snowdrop coming over and gently calling up to Moonlight as the rattata looked down and called to her as well. The two talking to each other in their own way. This happened a lot when Moonlight fell asleep and woke up in a different place.
"Oh!!...I'm Florence Redwood. I forgot to introduce myself..." he said apologetically as he looked in Kukui's direction. He then blinked as he looked down at Moonlight as she started to climb up to his shoulder and sat down holding onto pieces of his violet hair. This made Florence flinch slightly since he felt the sudden tug on his hair, but he calmed right down since he knew that it was his rattata doing it. She enjoyed sitting on his shoulder to get a better look at the environment they were in. She did it often when he went on walks into town to go to the malasada shop.

Professor Kukui bobbed his head in confirmation as Florence requested a litten, striding over with energy and spirit to his step. Rockruff barked playfully back at the vulpix, dropping into a playful bow while the professor went to work. "Not a problem, cousin!" he remarked, gathering up the items. He spun back around as Florence introduced himself, giving a good-natured wink in response. "Alola, Florence! Good to meet you! Here's your Litten, and a few pokeballs and potions, to get you started. As well as a pokedex, if you're interested!" he offered.

Florence smiled when Kukui greeted him once more with a traditional alola greeting before he turned as the other was starting to move in a certain direction. His eyes never leaving the blurry blobs of color that he recognized as the professor's form. Though when he heard the playful sound of the others Rockruff he blinked and looked in its direction as Snowdrop made a cute little call of playfulness as well and gently started to paw at the air between the two of them. Even though Florence didn't know what exactly was going on. He could tell that the two pokemon were being playful and fun. This made Florence smile before he looked back in Kukui's direction when the other spoke up again.
"Thank you Professor~." he said gently before he pulled his shoulder bag sachule from his side and started to open the bag. Placing the poke-balls in a part of the bag that had brale markings on it that read poke-ball. And then the same with the potions in a part of the bag that had similar brale engraved on it but read potions in the blind language. He also took the poke-ball that held his litten in it. Running his fingers over it before he dug around in his bag for a little container and pulled it out to show that it was full of stickers with brale writing on each one. He ran his fingers over each sticker before he started to pull the ones off he wanted and gently placed them in order on the top of the poke-ball.
He smiled as his fingers ran over the now placed stickers as he read the name he had chosen for the pokemon. Nodding he then pressed the button on the pokeball as the red light shined and the tiny feline fire pokemon came out. Kneeling down he reached his hands out and let the litten sniff him before he picked him up and looked closely as he could to the new pokemon he now had. His eyes squinting as he got extremely close. The feline pokemon blinking its eyes in confusion before Moonlight called to it and tried to tell the pokemon what was going on. This seemed to ease the little kittens nerves as it sat still and let Florence inspect it in his own way. Once Florence was able to see what the pokemon looked like he smiled and soon cradled the fire cat in his arms. "Its nice to meet you litten~. I will be your trainer from now on...is that okay??" he asked gently as he scratched the feline behind its ears. The tiny fire cat purring at the attention before making a happy call of acknowledgement. Snowdrop had perked up at the sudden new sound and walked over to greet the new companion as well.
Florence smiled at the happy sound before he gently kissed his new pokemon on the forehead. "I also thought of a nice name for you. I hope you like it. I thought the name Blitzen would be perfect for you~. I even customized your poke-ball so i can tell which one you are." he said lifting up the poke-ball to show the brale stickers that now adorned the red part of the poke-ball. He then looked over at the professor and smiled timidly. "Thank you so much professor kukui. I'm happy to be able to start my journey at last~." he said gently before he patted the side of his bag and finally put his pokedex into the spot he had specified for the item which had a brale writing on the side of it that read pokedex. Everything he had he had stickers of brale on it so he knew what was inside and where the items went. He then strapped the pokeball of his new companion on his belt next to Snowdrop's and Moonlights. Waving bye to the professor and saying alola once more he then headed out the door with his pokemon as he made his way to route one.

Also, did you want to get rid of all Mitsu's items? That's okay of course, but I'm just making sure it's intentional, because if you aren't keeping them, then they will be permanently discarded as of this reset, no going back.
Professor Kukui came down the steps from the upper floor as he heard someone enter the lab. "Alola! You came at a good time cousin, I was just letting some of the pokemon romp around." He chuckled. "I see you've met one of our popplio. They are pretty cute, though I prefer my rockruff personally." As if on cue, the little rock dog pokemon came bounding after Kukui and barking happily. "There you are!" Kukui chuckled, giving the canine a scratch behind the ears. "Were you here to get a pokemon? If you want that popplio, I think you're already set, if it wants to go with you that is." He suggested, moving to grab a pokedex and some other supplies to hand over to Mitsu.

Sullivan pretty much sprinted the remainder of the way as Professor Kukui’s lab came into view, focus narrowing in on his destination. He didn’t even bother to round the corner so that he could climb the stairs, instead latching onto the railing, and hauling himself over it to land promptly on the porch. He grunted and straightened up, pausing only a moment to glance over his shoulder as a Rockruff wearing a bright red service vest bounded up the stairs right on his heels.
Sullivan grinned as the Rockruff huffed and gave him a look, kneeling, and gently rubbing the pup between the ears before turning and making his way into the lab. He hadn’t meant to so quickly speed off from Junpei, but the lab was in sight and the quicker they acquired a new friend the better. He did, after all, have to meet up with his siblings in Hau’oli City to collect some extra things for his journey, though he wasn’t too worried about keeping them waiting. Sullivan was excited but not overly so. He was looking forward to the upcoming adventure though.
The blue-haired fellow came to a pause as he stepped into the lab, remaining towards the entrance as his gaze shifted around and Junpei took a seat next to him. He didn’t immediately see the professor, or anyone else for that matter and frowned a bit in concern; he’d been certain that the professor would be in about this time. Maybe he’d been mistaken? Of course, Junpei was alert. Where his owner failed to notice due to his deafness, he recognized the sounds of movement from a room clearly in the back of the lab. It sounded a bit like some tussling was going on, which was a bit concerning and quickly he gave a loud yip to indicate that they were there. The noises stopped and soon the professor was emerging to see what was going on, adjusting his cap back into place, grin forming as he approached the pair.
”Alola cousin! Sorry, I didn’t hear you come in!” The man greeted, hands on his hips as he eyed the two, seeming curious about the vest. Sullivan perked up at the movement, grinning and raising an open hand to the side of his head and giving a quick wave gesture in greeting before reaching back to his back pocket and producing a letter. He offered it out to the curious man; it was a simple letter his mother had penned up for him explaining the situation, that he was there to start a journey and what not and oh… that he wanted a Rowlett. Sullivan’s gaze shifted about the lab as the professor read the note, interest on the aquarium in the back primarily, though his gaze shifted from time to time to check the professor and make sure he wasn’t saying anything. That’d be kind of bad to miss after all.
