Lyndis de Ferdoarn
"It shall be engraved upon thine soul!"

╒═╪═╡╞═╪═╡╞═╪═╡╞═╪═╡╞═╪═╕

This was getting annoying. Lyndis was still locked in an cat and mouse kind of spiel with the corvbeaks that were attacking her but didn’t had any trouble really keeping them from hitting her, although they do started to get more near misses lately. Lyndis noticed that the arrow she just had fired had missed and instead had hit the low house at the edge setting the wood in the roof on fire, it was not an inferno yet but the bit of smoke and small flames that coming from it indicated that it was starting to burn. Collateral damage that Lyndis had no reason to feel anything about. She concentrated back to the birds around her. She let out an annoyed “tsk” sound as she hung the bow she was still holding over her shoulder. This has gone on long enough. It was time to stop these terror birds with their good for nothing attacks. Lyndis placed her hand on the handle of her halberd she had on her back and started to whisper something. She looked left and right to see how the birds moved before closing her eyes and gripping firmly onto the handle with her one hand. The crystal in the blade of the weapon started to glow up and small sparks moved over its metal. She pulled the halberd off her back. The crackling sound of thunder was heard as she swung the halberd round in a 360° arc. The corvbeaks unlucky enough to be caught close to the swing fell down to the ground below to the hungry lacefang’s that took their refuge in the water of the fountain, smouldering from the electric shock they just received. Lyndis kept still in mid-air for a few seconds before opening her eyes again. "pesky birds. Thine efforts are fruitless to me. Be glad I spared thine so much" she spoke before diverting her gaze to Narx who came rushing to her.

Finally one of the victims other fighters showed its face ready to fight. Lyndis’s heart started pounding harder of excitement. Now the real battle started. She hoped this fool would put up more of a challenge than those birds and lizards did. The boy didn’t look like he was much of a fighter and not build for straight up confrontation. Was this bravery or just stupidity? No, he must be at least capable of something that he could survive with the beast here for so long. A smart person would figure out something must be up with this and not give in to directly confront him back. But Lyndis was too prideful to do this. The masked guy charging towards her was a challenge she can’t deny. "if death thine seek then death thou shalt have" Lyndis held onto her weapon with both hands as she flew down to the ground and towards her opponent screaming. She half dragged the blade of the halberd over the ground tearing up the ground beneath as she shot towards Narx. Whatever he might think he could dish out Lyndis could take it. Only thing would be that crossbow of his. Although it could be used in this close situation better than a normal bow it still primarily aimed for ranged combat. If shot from close range it could be painful but that’s not the problem. The problem was that due to those cowardice rules of this battle if she would get hit by the bolt she would be out. But the crossbow had one flaw. Once it was fired it took quite some time to reload. Time Lyndis was not planning to give to him. So he had one shot at it before the Valkyrie would lock him in combat.

Lyndis Expected him to fire his weapon before they would clash so in her approach she was a little bit on the cautious side to evade to the side and deflect the bolt once he fired it. "PERISH!" When they came close to clashing Lyndis suddenly swung her halberd up into an overhead slash. She did it a bit earlier than should if one wanted to hit with it, but that was her intention. As the halberd hit the ground between them a wave of energy was released cracking the ground around them. Lyndis did this to provoke the masked man’s dodge action or to break his momentum so she could do the follow up. As she hit the ground Lyndis folded in her wings in and used the momentum of the swing to flip forward unleashing two downward slashes with her talons, landing on her feat she would instantly force herself forward and grab his left wrist and throw him past her. If all goes well her enemy would let go of the crossbow so the real fight can start.

Narx
"Revenge is a confession of pain"
■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■

Narx could feel his veins throbbing with adrenaline. Surely his opponent felt it as well. Adrenaline was a strange sort of feeling that make one's mind clear. It allowed one to think faster than usual. As Narx was sliding on his knees he noticed her strange earth breaking attack well before it was executed. He kicked off with both legs. This was not an ideal move as it scratched the hell out of his knees, but it did allow him to leap into the air into a front flip. He would continue his frontal assault from there. Stepping on the individual stones as they flew through the air, he gained altitude until he was matched with Lyndis. They finally were within melee combat range. She went for a vertical swipe. This was odd. She left herself open, or so he thought, but then realized she did this too soon. It was a fake. He was already committed to the frontal assault so he merely dived straight forward. He knew his one advantage was actually engaging her on her terms. She slashed down early. Smashing the ground with a powerful blow. He hadn't expected this. She flipped over her halberd and slashed with her talons. Also an impressive move that caught him off guard. He was practically underneath her when this took place. He ducked down and lifted his right hand into the air to meet her talons. His trinket exploded with a blast of wind. A soft, sticky substance that resembled a large pillow absorbed the blow of her talons. Narx was on one knee, with this substance between him and Lyndis. They were quite literally glued together. "Well. This is kind of weird." Narx shifted his weight to try and get out of the glue, but he couldn't. He fell over with the weight and landed on the shaft of her halberd. He hadn't really thought he would get stuck in in his own glue bomb. He also could not reach any portion of Lyndis as she was stuck on the opposite side of the massive blob of glue. He couldn't imagine the mess it made in her wings. It would hurt like hell for her to pull out as it would rip out half of her feathers. This was Gorgon Glue after all. Narx swung his arms wildly trying to hit Lyndis, but he looked like a small child throwing a tantrum. "What the hell! Get us out of here!?" She had more strength, maybe she could get them unstuck.

-Krosis Amalur-
I contemplated for a hundred years a single blade of grass...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Krosis would watch silently as a golden opportunity presented itself, the two opponents who were scrapping would be caught in an exchange, and that was perfectly fine for him however the Counter of the Masked man would be the perfect opportunity. Of the two of them Lyndis was obviously the most dangerous... a flying foe with magic and martial experience, as the stone whirled silently in his sling Krosis's hand would raise and peek around the corner his eyes lighting up with a mysterious energy as he loosed his stone...

Directly at Narx.

Lyndis de Ferdoarn
"It shall be engraved upon thine soul!"

╒═╪═╡╞═╪═╡╞═╪═╡╞═╪═╡╞═╪═╕

So far so good. Lyndis performed her combo attack and it seemed that it had Narx off guard. But as she brought down her talons her opponent raised his hand. There was a small explosion of air and Lyndis felt her talons dig into something, but it wasn’t flesh as she hoped. Once she regained her grasp on the situation she saw she was stuck with her legs in a blob of glue. "what the!?" She tried to pull legs out of the sticky stuff but what it only did was getting more of her stuck in it. (un)fortunately, it also seemed that Narx got himself also trapped in the trap. But sadly it was at the other side of the blob so Lyndis was not able to reach him.
This was annoying. Besides hearing Narx flail around like a small child in his prison she was well aware that there were still other contestants (not to forget those lizards and the birds) so there was no time to stay in this. but without any help getting out of this glue quickly would be very painful. Lyndis grumbled realising what she has to do and took a few deep breaths. She started to try and pull herself out of the glue with all her might. She could feel it trying to pull her back but she wasn’t giving in. even if it felt like the skin was being ripped from her bones she kept pushing. She let out loud agonising screeches as she slowly but surely got herself out of the glue trap.

When she was finally out of the trap Lyndis just stood there huffing, shaking off the pain and adrenaline that was coursing through her body. Her clothes were a bit torn up and half the feathers in her wings were pulled out to a point where she wouldn’t be able to fly for at least this fight. A lone lacefang saw its chance as it shot from the water of the fountain and rushed towards Lyndis. It jumped up opening its jaw to try and bite the battered angel but Lyndis grabbed the lizard's jaws with both her hands keeping it open. Her eyes cast in the shadow as her head hung low. "pathetic creature" she spoke in angelic Torstarian and pulled the jaws of the lacefang open. The lizard started to squirm trying to close its jaws but to no avail. Lyndis was pulling its jaw open until the cracking sound of bones breaking as the lacefang’s jaw was ripped open wide. Lyndis let out a loud screech and if on cue the field of battle was covered in a shadow as corvbeaks gathered and were flocking above them. Lyndis looked up still holding the limp, lifeless body of the lacefang in her hand revealing her eyes were near completely white save for a small dot of an iris in its centre. She was looking up at the birds as she could also hear the hissing sound of several lacefangs that also have gathered around. the beasts were watching as if they could sense what might be coming.

Suddenly Lyndis’s eyes shot down to glare at Narx from the corner of her eye. "ye who brought pain!" She turned and stared directly at Narx with eyes brimming with bloodlust. "no mercy thine shall receive for punishment shall be thine end". A heavy air surrounded the angel as she slowly started to walk towards her still captive opponent. It looked like she was unaware of Krosis’s sneak attack on Narx with the magic marble. But as the little stone was about to pass Lyndis she swung the dead laceface corpse she still was holding around batting the stone back towards its sender hitting the building he was hiding behind with a loud thud. It was quiet for a moment before Lyndis’s eye shot towards who threw the stone. Upon seeing Krosis her eyes changed again. the small dot of an iris had expanded to look like the eye of a hawk. "Naorian!" she said on a calm tone, but one who listens closely could hear the rage behind it. "eons thine kind live as spit in the eyes of heaven. Insults to the soil which life comes from. Tainted filth, expect no mercy on this day" she spoke loudly the anger in her voice now more noticeable.

Lyndis quickly moved and grabbed Narx by his right upper arm and started to pull. She didn’t care how much the glue resisted or how much pain it might cause trying to hold its prisoner in there. if any the pain he would feel was just a positive side effect to her. as Lyndis pulled Narx loose from the glue trap she screeched as she used the momentum of the pull to fling him in the direction of Krosis. Now that he was out of the way Lyndis could get what she really wanted, her halberd. She grabbed the handle and without much trouble, she pulled that one also out of the glue. Suddenly the air around her became heavy as she turned again to face her opponents. The gem in her weapon started to glow as small electrical discharges run pass the weapon’s surface evaporating any residue of the glue still on it. "prepare for today the city of the twelve shall be painted red in the blood of the sinner and the filth of gods eye" she said and raised her weapon pointing it at Narx and Krosis. Ready to put divine judgement on the both of them.

Narx
"Revenge is a confession of pain"
■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■

Narx was surprised by Lyndis's strength and resolve. She not only ripped herself out of the glue in an extremely painful way, she also ripped him out. It was a bit less painful for him as mostly his robe just tore off so now half his ches and left arm were now bare. He always wore a robe. Even when he slept, or bathed. He did so for reasons which were now available for all to see. Scars. Not just a few scars, but dozens of scars. His body had suffered much in slavery. He had been tortured by several masters. Of course some of it was due to his own resistance, but often the master merely wanted to release anger. Narx was slammed into the wall of the building next to Krosis. This man had just tried to get Narx out of the competition, but at least he attempted to do so painlessly. Narx could forgive that. Narx gave a friendly nod to Krosis hoping that he would help him against Lyndis for at least a short time. Lyndis was a monster on the other hand. She wanted to beat her foes into submission, not merely win the competition. Narx stood up. His body was racked in pain from being thrown against a stone wall, but anyone looking upon his scars would know that pain was one thing Narx could manage, and manage very well at that.
"Lyndis..." Narx said her name gently, but sternly. "You may think that you are trying to be good, but look at you. You are causing needless pain." Narx lifted his left arm and looked at his scars. These too, were cased needlessly. "How are you any different than a slave driver if you merely wish to cause suffering?" Narx took a step towards her and fumbled a bit. He was still a bit dizzy, but recovering every moment. "God himself does not desire for people to suffer, he merely allows pain to exist in order to keep free will in tact. His gift to the living... is choice." Narx took another step, this time with more energy. "Slavers take away choice, and cause others to suffer. If your god is one that enjoys suffering than he is already half way to being a slaver himself." Narx just blasphemed Lyndis's god. He grabbed one of his other trinkets and swallowed it. He then lifted his head up and stared Lyndis directly in the eye. He would stand his ground against her.

-Krosis Amalur-
I contemplated for a hundred years a single blade of grass...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sadly even the most basic of plans could be foiled in the simplest of ways. The silent competitors started to make their appearance; with a Lacefang practically attacking his stone instead of Lyndis. However one of the traits that bothered him would appear; the animal kin always seemed to notice it... intent. As if Krosis had painted a line back to himself her eyes would find the slight piece of his face that peeked around the corner at the pair of them.

Krosis would step out into the plaza and past the falling Narx with a rough movement, there was an old stereotype that elves were all graceful and dainty. It wasn't that wrong, however there were always exceptions; Krosis was one such example. The ritualistically battered form of Narx would arise and give his speech, another person who didn't seem to know when it was time to talk and when it was time to fight... then again he was a bit special in that regard... monsters never really stopped to talk to their 'prey'.

Seeing Narx step forward and the look that seemed to request Krosis to aid him... "I suppose I can save you for last..." Krosis would think to himself as he began to walk in a circular pattern away from Narx with Lyndis as the central point however moving away from the others seemed to make him a target a large flock of Corvbeaks separated from the larger overhead flock and a few Lacefangs would seem to fade from view as they started to stalk their prey, however the eyes of the elf glowed gold, the camouflage of the lizards was useless and the shadow that seemed to stick to the birds was even less effective.

In what seemed like a pulse those who could see it would notice it like it was in slow motion Krosis's blade left the sheath and simply seemed to pass through the tide of feathers as if it were a ghost. It wasn't graceful in the slightest, the movement was sharp, precise, and most worrying; Practiced. With practiced ease the edge of his blade would reap the lives around him, in his movements it wasn't hard to see, he was without a doubt at the pinnacle of his craft. And as the feathers floated about around him, gently glowing eyes would seem to stare into empty space. Then with a flick of his wrist the blade would seem to shimmer and ripple before the sound of cut air would reach their ear, it would be a second before the empty space would erupt in a shower of blood, the once nearly invisible shape of the Lacefang painted in it's own blood.

"I suppose I shall play with these for awhile... unless you two would rather you take their place." For a second it sounded like the first words he'd bothered to say to them was mere mocking, but if they were to look into Krosis's eyes they would see it, full intent to kill. Not out of hatred or righteousness, but simply for his own convenience he would remove them if need be and move on. Eyes that held the same look as the beasts around them, eyes that were cold and without feeling, save for the will to survive, and that was so thick that it almost seemed like Krosis radiated with animal instinct.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

...I made it my entire world, my only adversary. Then, I cut it down."

OoC: 5/10 A bit wordy but I was feeling it =w= as for the other thing...

The only real issue I can consider with the post is that you said it was a slow process to get out of the glue, if that's true my stone would have landed by then. I'm more than willing to grant the leeway though. After all I never said I flung the stone the instant they stuck together could have been on the cusp of Lyndis freeing herself. Story is more important than being right in my opinion... so long as it's nothing too crazy.

I am officially ending this battle. I would like to free up this location topic, and our RPC's for further role playing (quests have been launched!). We will now move on to a voting phase. I will post a topic linking to the pages of this location. Your RPC's are now allowed to go elsewhere during this phase. The official ending story is as follows:

Lyndis de Ferdoarn
"It shall be engraved upon thine soul!"

╒═╪═╡╞═╪═╡╞═╪═╡╞═╪═╡╞═╪═╕

It has come to this. A stalemate has presented itself between Lyndis and the other contestants. She had watched how the slave had hit the wall hard after her throwing him. But he managed to still stand up after that, the reason etched on his skin. The countless scars written all over the slave’s body told the story of all the pain he had to suffer up till this point. A feat that might deserve respect if he wasn’t her adversary at this moment. On the field of battle honour and respect will lead you nowhere.
The elf tried to circle around, surely he would have planned to get Lyndis between him and the slave so they could do a pincer attack on her, but he ran into some of the other creatures that were still there on the field. Lyndis didn’t heed any attention anymore to the elf. He had found his opponent for now. Now she could give her full attention to the slave.

As he said her name Lyndis tilted her head backwards glaring at him with disdain. She listened to his blasphemous preaching. That was it. Lyndis would wanted nothing more than to cut this sinner in a thousand pieces. Let medics have fun putting him back together as some sort jigsaw puzzle. She might even make some “clockwork” pieces go missing. Would be a shame if one of those lacefang’s got to eat it before they could be recovered. And by all means she was ready to do this. Firmly gripping onto her weapon, the pure rage in her eyes. Hell was awaiting this blasphemous fool. Lyndis was about to lunge forward when suddenly. She started to chuckle. The chuckle quickly turned into loud crazy laughter. It was clear Lyndis had lost her mind at that point. "I causing needless pain thine say? Don’t make me laugh. Thine should first remember where thou stand. A field of monsters watched by pigs who want nothing else than to see pain" She made a broad gesture to indicate she was talking about the audience. "but it seems god’s gift is wasted on thine. So devoid of god that thine eye fails to see what’s there" She said smirking tilting her head forward so that the shadow of her hair covered her eyes. "Me neither God desire suffering that’s true. It’s just something the living brought upon themselves with god’s gift. If anything mine job is to ease suffering of the living" Lyndis took her halberd in both hands as the gem in its blade started to glow "Thine talk about choice as if it’s something thine can hold. Something thine can take from others. If it’s not that those who say they have no choice choose to." she lifted her head showing her eyes have started to glow slightly gold yellow and pointed her weapon towards Narx "There is always a choice, but not all choices will lead to prosperity. Even a slave has the choice to disobey, to choose to do what he think is right. But hearing how thine speak about slavers I can say those scars are a testimony to all the choices you didn’t make. The moments you were too weak or yet strong enough to not choose" a soft chuckle left the angel’s lips "Choice is a part of life and life is the gift god gave to the living. Pain was created not to keep will intact but to remind the living… what it is to be alive. And at this point.. I haven’t felt so much alive" she said bursting out in mad laughter as she moved her torn wings again letting the pain of it fuel her madness. "even if thine are a fool I can’t… I choose not to let thine blasphemy of god go unpunished" Lyndis glared at Narx with fury but soon she chuckled again "ironic. How much I want to kill you, you still at this moment have a choice. You can still stab thine self with thine bolt and be relieved of this battle… or you stay and receive thine righteous punishment proving thine are also nothing more than a monster in this cage of battle" Lyndis put her right leg backwards "thine got about 5 seconds to decide before mine blade will reach thine flesh" with that said Lyndis lunged forward running towards the slave with her axe raised and ready to slice. May the gods watch over them as this tournament will continue on to cause more suffering for amusement.

~*Nico & Ikki*~

User Image

Nico

Ikki

Nico sighed as Ikki flew through the air. He loved to ride, but this was his first time making a long-distance flight on a delivery. He'd been tasked with making a delivery to a gryphoneer competing in the local tournament, but he was given no description other than a name. He hoped it was someone Ikki recognized, or he'd have to scrounge up some gold for an inn. And there was also the fact his pay would be docked if the delivery took past the ETA. He wasn't too worried though, if he couldn't find the person he'd just drop it off at the coliseum. He sighed again, letting the beauty of the vista take away his worries. The world was indescribably beautiful to him when they were up high. The city of twelve stood out perfectly in the scenery, and he could spot some of the local gryphoneers enjoying the lively breeze in the air today. One of the more daring ones flew close to Nico, and pulled out in an expertly executed barrel roll. Nico chuckled, "What a show-off..."

Ikki snorted as he saw the cocky gryphon and his master fly by them. The fledglings were always so eager to show off fancy moves. He could've flown circles around them, but not without flinging Nico out of the saddle. The boy was an apt rider, but he still had much to learn. Just in this ride Ikki had had to adjust himself to keep Nico from sliding off. Still, a fledgling had to learn. He let out a squawk in warning, and dove after the cocky gryphoneer.

"Ikki w-wait I'm not- FUUUUUUUU-!" Nico clung on to the bridle and saddle as best he could. He pressed himself against Ikki's back as much as possible to reduce wind resistance, and also so he wouldn't have to see the ground spiraling towards him at terrifying speeds. He risked a peek. They were gaining on the other gryphoneer fast, and Nico had the sinking sensation Ikki intended to play chicken with the rider. It was something his older brother loved to do. But he had been a prodigy on the reins, Ikki was okay at best and still learning. He just clung on to Ikki and hoped it'd all be over soon...

Outspeeding that cocky fledgling was a piece of cake. Or it would've been if he wasn't caring for a fledgling of his own. He felt Nico go limp, and knew he had to stop. Still, he figured he gave those two a good scare. Ikki was bigger than the average Gryphon, and the scar near his eye gave him a very intimidating air. Still, he was actually considered good-natured for a gryphon, and he only ever fought at full strength if he felt in genuine danger. He pulled Nico off with his beak, and set him down next to a building. He curled up next to him and waited. He noticed a trio fighting by a fountain, but paid them no mind. He preferred to avoid needless confrontations.

... He must've blacked out because when Nico came to he was leaning against the wall of an old temple. Or at least, he figured it was a temple because of the gargoyles decorating the outside. Ikki prodded his face gently with his beak, "I'm fine, thanks..." Nico pulled himself up and looked around. They'd made it just fine. He noticed some commotion he had just missed by the fountain. He figured it was just some duelists killing time before their round at the coliseum. They seemed strong. He blushed a little, noticing one of them was a rather good looking woman. She seemed scary though. It was all very intriguing, but he wasn't' sure if he should approach them or not. He DID have a delivery to make...

Narx
"Revenge is a confession of pain"

Narx entered the market area with his friend Ash the Fae, and Lady Elowyn. He rushed ahead to get a glimpse of how busy things were. He didn't want to drag them into a market that was unbearably hot and busy. It seemed to be okay. They would catch up to him soon. He did see something he wasn't expecting. A man with a Gryphon! They must be from Naiøria. He approached the man who owned the Gryphon. "Long live the Árkhōn!" Narx shouted to the man. One of the many phrases Naiørians used to identify themselves as such. The Árkhōn was their supreme leader, and they practically worshiped them. "My name is Narx, what is yours? and you don't quite look like a Grýphōneer? Are you a messenger then?" Narx didn't want to possibly offend the man, but he had never seen a Grýphōneer not wearing their fancy armor that was both incredibly light, and strong. Maybe this was one who was merely on a personal trip? Narx did not know,
but he was eager to hear word of their homeland as the Skags were fairly hostile to Naiørians.

As they. Entered the Market Area, Narx rushed ahead. Likely checking to see how busy it was. That was like Narx, always looking out for his friends. Elowyn moved through the bustling crowds, with Ash, peering over heads to try and find Narx again. A short distance ahead she saw Narx speaking with a man who appeared to be a Grýphōneer. She approached just as Narx had finished I producing himself. "And my name is Elowyn." She said politely before listening to what the man had to say.

~*Nico & Ikki*~

Nico

Ikki

Nico was snapped out of his thoughts by a rather familiar call, "May our wings be his shield, our claws his blade!" He replied with a grin, proudly saluting and forgetting for a moment he wasn't back home.
He didn't recognize the man, though that wasn't surprisng. Either way he was friendly enough, and hopefully he'd know where the coliseum was, "The name's Nico, and this here is Ikki!" He gestured to his gryphon,
who tilted his head at the newcomers, crooning curiously, "You are correct though, I'm not quite a gryphoneer yet. My brother was a captain, I inherited his gryphon when he died liberating a slaver camp. They know I have experience riding, so instead of the normal training they allow me to run errands as a way to gain experience."

Ikki eyed the masked one curiously. In his experience masked wearers weren't this friendly. And there was something else, something... familiar about him. Had he been there that night? His memory wasn't as good as a human's, so he didn't know for sure, but there was certainly something peculiar about this one.

Nico noticed the woman coming towards them and couldn't help but become a bit sheepish. He'd spent most of his teenage years either being trained or riding Ikki, this had made him rather nervous when he met good looking women, "Uh, h-hello..." Was all he could muster, he heard Ikki snort in amusement and he felt his face burn. He turned back to her, and had a lot of trouble keeping his face up. She was very beautiful, almost as if she was...
His heart sunk when he spotted the pin holding up her cloak. She was royaly. He immediately dropped to his knees and gestured at Ikki to bow, "P-please excuse my rudeness, my lady! I am Nico, aspiring Gryphoneer of the 18th brigade, this is my mount Ikki, we're on an errand to deliver a parcel to the coliseum." He looked up and immediately bowed his head, remembering the time one of the ladies had struck him with her parasol for doing so, "Again, please pardon our rudeness..."
