THE SHOP

How are weapons purchased?
Weapons can either be purchased with Gaia gold or EXP.

If I purchase a weapon from the shop, can I “re-skin” it to fit my character?
Technically this would be considered the custom weapon from the 4th stage. Characters can choose to reskin their weapons at stage 4 while keeping the same stats from their original weapon.

Is the Opal Pebble item used for the entire battle or just one turn?
The Opal Pebble is only used in one turn, not the entire battle. It is meant to boost a single attack.

EXP

What is the process for purchasing boosters using exp?
You may obtain up to ten stat boosters from the shop for free, and then you also have the ability to buy stats up to the limit of your stage total (125 for s2, 150 for s3, 175 for s4 and 200 total for Legendary). EXP is earned through battling and completing certain events in the shop. Each booster is listed as having aan exp price. Once a character has enough exp listed in their journal, they can submit the form in the merchant's alley, there is a line for cost in exp that would be used instead, and the staff will update the exp in their journal once the form is accepted.

How do you keep track of EXP?
After a Battle ends, a Staff member will come by and let everyone know how much EXP they received. Staff Members will be keeping track in your journal's cert post.

Can a character "learn" a new spell through EXP?
They can only use the spells that they are already allowed to learn. You cannot purchase leveled up spells with EXP unless you are already allowed to learn them.

Can I use EXP from one character to buy for another?
Unfortunately you cannot. The EXP a character earns is theirs to use.

STATS

Do non-battle classes have to make stats?
If they are not planning on ever battling, even for fun (with a dagger or knives), they do not have to have stats at all. For the sake of the meta, everyone can participate, requiring those without stats to create them temporarily.

How can I tell if I've reached my max stats bought with gold?
Every character has a stat post dedicated to them. At the top of this post right under the journal link are the caps for stats and how many they have already purchased.

WEAPONS

Can battle classes use daggers/throwing knives instead of their class weapon?
Unfortunately, the answer is no. Classes are required to use the weapons that are assigned to them. Only thieves and non-combat classes can use knives or daggers as weapons.

Can the Alkidike or Elaria use a weapon other than what's listed in the class thread (spear, dual blades, bow)?
No. The Alkidike and Elaria are limited to only these three weapons sets. They cannot use any other weapon, including just a single sword.

Can I still buy my weapon even if I haven't reached the requirements to use it yet?
Yes! You have to buy the weapon in order to grow, but you don't have to worry about not being able to use it. Sometimes characters just need a couple more stat points before they've reached the reqs and that's ok! We won't hold a character back from growing just because they need to grab just a couple more stats.

MAGIC

If a magic user runs out of spells, can they use physical attacks?
Yes, technically any magic user can use physical attacks to strike with but they would have to use their attack stat to calculate your rolls.

Are non-magic battle classes allowed to use magic?
Unfortunately enough, magic spells can only be combined with magic weapons and are only available to those who choose a magic class path. There is a specialty item called the Scroll of Souls that allows physical fighters to learn one magic spell, but that is the only exception.

Can a character use two health spells in one turn?
In theory yes, but their spell will deplete faster and they won't have a chance to dodge. But yes, they can choose to use two spells.

Are spell slots the same as a spell's uses?
Yes. Magic users can bring up to 5 spells into battle, but all spells have a certain amount of uses or "slots" per battle. Lvl2 spells have 7 uses, so to use a special attack like Elemental Fury it would use up 2 of their uses or “slots”. Different spells cannot be combined to do this though, so if it uses multiple slots it has to come from the same spell.

When listing spells for battle do I have to list the available uses too?
Yes. Spells have a limited use per battle and this MUST be kept track of during battle. If the spell usage runs out that spell can no longer be used that battle!

ROLEPLAYING BATTLES

If a character doesn't like battling but chooses a battle class can familiars act as proxy?
Familiars cannot step in and proxy for battle. If a character decides on a battle class they should be prepared to fight and deal with the consequences of what they have chosen in their own ways.

Can characters spectate/RP in battles?
Spectating in the same thread as the battle becomes confusing and complicated so it is not allowed. If a character would like to solo watching the battle or have an RP afterward, that is fine.

IN BATTLE MECHANICS

Can Delayed Elemental Burst be effected by powering up?
No. It cannot be effected by powering up since it is a passive effect by the time it detonates.

Does the crit roll apply to retaliations?
The crit roll would apply to the dodge roll, but would not factor into the dmg for retaliate. Because countering requires new rolls, the crit roll does not apply in the case of a counter either

Can you get a crit roll from a 20 in dmg?
No. It is for the hit roll only. 20 for the dmg roll is just a normal calculation.

Can special attacks be effected by rolling a 20?
Special attacks that are labeled as not effected by powering up are not effected by the crit multiplier from rolling a 20 either. The other special attacks are effected. If you roll a 20, the 1.5x dmg should be calculated at the very end. (ex: Dancing Petals adds +3 to dmg. You would calculate the dmg, add +3, then add the x1.5 at the very end)

If a character deals poison dmg but the opponent dodges successfully do they still get poisoned?
No. Status ailments only apply if the attack hit the opponent. So if the attack misses or the opponent dodges completely, they will not take on poisoning/bleeding/paralysis/etc.

Can the guardian's (and rider's) special attack only be used with the mount that the character chose?
Yes. A mount is something that is bonded with and acquired very early on in the character's life. This attack is the result of that bond, and so it can only be used in the version of the character's assigned mount.

GENERAL MECHANICS

Can battles be used as RP req points?
Regular battles can not count as RPs unless it is within a Meta and then the rules will be posted about what it can be used for.

Can players also play NPCs in battle?
No. There are enough battle ready characters that finding a partner shouldn’t be a hindrance to battling.

Do battles have to be between two characters or can they fight something else?
Battles so far have been sparring matches, where no one is aiming to kill or maim but just to train together, though they can be out of anger if they choose so. They can be 2 or more characters (battle royal style or teams). It does, as of right now, have to be another character as an opponent, beast battles falls under a different category of requirement generally speaking.
