Val Martingale

Stepping quietly through the woods, a cloak adorned figure strode along the road, barely making a sound as he passed, his presence acknowledged by the local wildlife. By all account, or at least as far as he could tell, he was alone on this stretch of wood, for he hadn't seen another person in some several hours. Val didn't mind it much, he enjoyed the peace and quiet, the time alone with his thoughts after having spent much of the past few months in close company with a band of adventure hungry men, not unlike himself actually. His pack was filled with provisions purchased from the last town he stopped in before heading back off into the wilds. A particular destination wasn't in mind, so Val reasoned that even a simple walk in the woods would be an adventure all unto itself. The midday sun streamed through the tree canopy, accentuating the forest floor with spots of light and warmth, the air around him crisp with the kinds of smells you would only find in a forest, and what could only be described as earthy. Yawning, Val looked up at the treetops, and the clear blue sky beyond the reach of their ancient branches, wondering what may lay around the next bend.

He didn't have to wait long for his answer, for less than half a league away he came to a fork in the road, one leading off deeper into the forest, and the other leading to a massive castle, although the sheer scope of it's construction made the word 'castle' seem insulting, Val reached for a word to describe it in his mind, but he had seen nor heard of anything quite like this before. The land around it was vibrant and welcoming, thus Val Martingale, archer, adventurer, and occasional party goer, stepped off towards the castle walls at a quick, but steady pace, hoping to reach the walls within the next hour or so.

If she hadn’t witnessed what they had done to her and the others, she would think this whole thing funny and charming. Unfortunately, she felt she couldn’t let her guard down, despite their somewhat innocent behavior. It was the sapphire colored dragon behind them that brought them back to their serious manner, sort of. The man with the snow colored hair began to speak for the shorter one, the abductor. Lumis couldn’t keep her composure and was clearly taken back by his words, she had even let go of Ichka’s arm to point at herself. The woman shook her head to take away the disbelief. “I-I don’t understand. You want me to help you?” She was looking at the man that introduced himself as Urick, before turning her eyes over to the brunette. “You took Serban and the Overseer so why didn’t you just take me with you?” Her face turned to concern before asking her next question. “A-Are they okay?” she clenched her left hand with the other as she felt anxious, the pain from her shoulder being blocked out by her emotions “You didn’t hurt them, did you?” The last she remembered, Serban had been hit with a spike before the vehicle spun out of control. She had given her an ointment blended with her blood beforehand, but she wasn’t sure if it mended that injury as well. She wondered what would happen if she refused. Would they just leave? No. She couldn’t refuse. If she went with them, she could see them again and help them, but that’s only if they were still with them. She would wait and see what his response to her questions are. But what if they lied?

The Angels were watching and Death will be waiting. Until the right time.

|| Val Martingale || "The world is a dangerous place, it does a man good to be even more dangerous."
|| Location: Maldria, Eastern Gates || Company: None || Mood: Hungry, Alert, Curious ||

The walls of the keep grew ever closer as Val made good speed towards the jutting turrets and stone walls of what was sure to be an even more magnificent view from the inside. "Halo of water, tongue of wood, skin of stone, long I’ve stood. My fingers short reach to the sky, inside my heart men live and die." Val mused to himself, a simple riddle he had picked up along his travels. Indeed the gates were open and welcoming in the midday light, but come nighttime, he was sure that the area outside the walls would be just as dangerous as any, if not for the passing thief or highwayman, then for the wolves and bears that would undoubtedly come about. He wasn't particularly afraid of facing neither the former, nor the latter of the two options, his bow had felled many a foe with its potent magika, some days Val wondered if he might be hunted down himself, for possessing such a weapon, though he would most assuredly give quite a fight to whomever decided to take it upon themselves to try and liberate Nir-Anin from him.

Stepping through the threshold of the gates, Val paused for a moment to take in the wonders laid out before him. The castle, even bigger than he had originally thought, was a hulking behemoth of a structure, its four wings beautifully crafted. Before he could finish being awed by the sight, Val's stomach began protesting at him, for he had not eaten yet this day. Twice in the past, when he was a fledgling male from his village in the White Hills, after leaving on his journey, did he forego the opportunity to eat the food available in villages and cities he passed through in favor of eating from his own provisions, and twice was he taught a lesson about such acts, and thus Val gave his stomach a pat and started walking again, looking for a tavern along the main stretch of road inside the walls to eat, drink, and maybe glean a little bit of information about this wondrous place.

After walking for a few minutes, or rather what seemed like hours to his stomach, growling in protest having not been satisfied since his dinner last night, Val saw a sign on a building reading 'Shield's Tavern'. 'This looks like as good a place as any. I hope they serve fish...' Val mused in his own head. In truth he didn't particularly care what was or wasn't served, he was just looking to get a warm meal in him before his stomach could rebel any further.

Walking up to the door, Val pushed it open and walked inside, taking in the smells of cooking and served food, as well as the sweet and bitter scents of the local mead, something he was sure to have to partake in while he was here. Ever vigilant, Val sought out a table in a corner that allowed him to keep an eye on the exits of the tavern, and a reasonably good eye on the rest of the building, at sat down with his bow laying across the table.

xxxxxUrick crossed his arms at Lumis's multitude of questions. He took a quick glance at Nowe, who still refused to talk, and so answered for the both of them. "Not taking you was an...oversight on our part," he explained swiftly. "When you were tossed into the lake, we had thought you lost, so we took what we could. Had we known you would survive the crash, we would have expended all of our efforts to recover you. I take full responsibility for that failure." His smile never faltered, although there was something rather disconcerting in his smile. "As for your compatriots, they are well as can be, given the circumstances. As we speak, they are recovering within the House of Red Wing in the Kingdom of Baston." Again, the odd quality of his smile showed itself without revealing its identity. "They have suffered no additional injuries beyond the first one." Finally, he let out a small chuckle, and the oddness of the smile was made clear. Urick's smile was that of one who was enjoying no small amount of amusement at the plight of someone else, as if they were the butt end of a joke. He found the whole situation amusing. "Well? Have you any other concerns?"
xxxxx"Patience, Urick," Legna scowled, his maw opening just slightly. "Keep treating them like that, and they will continue to distrust us." He turned his dark white eyes towards Lumis. "Little girl, we do not come here expecting you to believe everything that we tell you with no basis for our claims. Truly, if we meant to secure your acceptance here and now, we would have brought your friends as leverage. But they are better off recovering than making the trip here. Should you want to see them again, seek out the House of Red Wing in Baston. Will that suffice?" He reared his head towards the canopy, as if listening to something only he could hear. "The battle at Dragon Castle is in its afternoon, but quickly approaching its evening. Nier will soon be making his move."
xxxxx"Tch," Urick grumbled. "Your older brother sure likes to take risks, Nowe," he said to his partner. "Even if he can pull it off, the thing could turn on him...and it's not likely that the twins can even control it." Nowe shrugged, seeming to be indifferent. "Yeah, I get it. So long as we focus on our task, what the others do is of their own accord." He returned his attention to Lumis and Ichka. "Well? What say you?"

xxxxxTakkar was certainly surprised! So the platinum haired woman knew the little girl and her rabbit doll, given the way she glared at the child. She was not intent on stopping her fight with the other child, however, as evidenced by her words and when she tossed the metal shaft at the child. Because she took the time to aim, Takkar had the time to watch her movement, resulting in him grabbing the makeshift spear in midair. His weathered hands were unaccustomed to metal weapons, so he turned the shaft around and around in his hands before dropping it to the floor. "I cannot leave while you threaten another child's life," he said to the platinum haired girl. "I would ask that you leave while you can and seek shelter with your loved ones, if you have any. However, if you seek a fight with someone, I shall gladly and most willingly throw down with you in a contest of spear chucking." To make his point, he equipped the wood and bone spear from his back and stomped the ground.

xxxxxArk Dragonatsu and his small retinue of Drakengard Lancers sat in the Crew's Lounge with some of the crew, watching the sailors that were off-duty play cribbage. They asked if any of Ark's team wanted to play, but the Lancers politely declined and reviewed a detailed map of Mazu Island. On the surface, it was a tropical island and beautiful vacation spot, but there were reports of an ice dragon attacking boats and carrying them away somewhere in the southern part of the island. If there was an ice dragon, then there would be a snowy landscape somewhere for it to hide those ships. It would likely be in some of the more unexplored regions, where even seasoned hunters feared to tread.
xxxxx"If you don't mind me asking, sir," one of the more reckless sailors asked of Ark, "why's an officer spending time with the enlisted sailors? The Officers' Lounge should be more your style."
xxxxxArk shrugged. "Never found much interest in hanging out with other officers," he said, smirking. "They're nowhere near as interesting as hanging out with enlisted. I was prior enlisted once, you know."
xxxxx"No fooling?" The sailors perked up, clearly interested in asking some more questions. However, that came to an immediate stop with the sudden lurching of the ship portside. The sailor on watch in the Crow's Nest rang the bell to sound the general alarm and called down to the others, warning them of the imminent threat.
xxxxx"Dragon approaching!"
xxxxxArk shot to his feet immediately and sprinted up topside, his Lancers following close behind. Sure enough, a white ice dragon came hurtling out of the clouds, its large saber tooth fangs bared and ready for attack. "Stand fast!" Ark commanded, then equipped his Dragon Feather and swung skyward. The air before him was compressed and launched at the dragon, colliding with it and stopping it dead in its tracks, but only momentarily. The dragon flapped its frosty wings and circled around the ship, searching for another spot to attack.
xxxxx"What is that thing?" one of the Drakengard Lancers asked. "There's no way it's native to the island!"
xxxxx"I've seen its kind before," Ark replied. "And on an island much like Mazu, no less. It's...!"
xxxxxThe dragon collided with the Crow's Nest, forcing the sailor to dive from his perch and use his safety harness to rappel down. It cut through with heavily padded forearms, then reopened its wings mere feet above the ocean waves and circled around for another attack.

Atlas Vegabond
Profile

He let out a pleased sigh, and looked at the little creatures that now invaded the once remains of humans, to regrowth of plantation. However, he heard shuffling close by, and turned to face Wander. He slightly tilted his head, wondering what was on his mind, but when their eyes met, He slightly jumped before smiling. Since he decided to take a stand, Atlas thought to do the same, now that the pain had subsided. He felt the golden thin chain, around his delicate neck, slide about, and looked down at the medallion. This signified of his royal blood that only seafolk know about. Land lovers would not even heard of his nation or kingdom from which he rules from.

Atlas placed his right hand to the icon, and held it firmly with a smile, before opening his palm up to look at the item. "My name is Atlas.......I know I am one of the triplets, and my brothers are not with me........They should be with me?" He tilted his head, the white noise grew louder before a sharp pain pinged to the center of his forehead, signifying a migraine. She let go of his medallion, and placed the fingertips to his temples. "Ow......Yes, we look very alike but different colored hair, that's how it's easy to identify us from one another, otherwise, if we all shared the same hair, no one would be able to." He chuckled, he felt as if a memory should be there where he could add a time and place when it did happen, but nothing came to mind.

Hiyama was pleased that his spell erupting from underneath the demon had hit, but it didn't quite finish him off. Elbrus was definitely a lot tougher than he gave him credit for. But he was severely weakened now, and the next powerful spell should be able to finish him. But Hiyama had already used up most of his energy with those last spells, even with the help from the Guardians. But he wasn't going to falter just yet. However Elbrus taunted him, despite his weakened state. Smoke fumed from his nostrils, as he felt his rage build up. He was definitely asking for it. However, Elbrus managed to heal himself up, and began counterattacking, as well as shouting about taking him as a partner. Hiyama forming a pact with that demon!? That was unthinkable! How dare the blasted demon think he can force a pact on him! "Don't think you'll get your way you damned demon!" He shouted. He kicked off from the earth below to avoid the stream of Blightening aimed for him, however, it seemed odd that some of the bolts have strayed and missed, even if Hiyama hadn't evaded the attack in the first place. It seemed apparent Elbrus had something up his sleeve.

And there it was, a second attack! A blast of sludge and corrupted earth aimed right at him. Because it was at such close range, Hiyama wouldn't be able to dodge it. He slammed his fists together, releasing a burst of flames that surrounded him, to act as a shield from the attack. However, some of the attack had managed to seep through the flaming barrier, and stuck Hiyama. "Urgg!" He shouted, feeling the stinging pain of the corrupted magic. He separated his hands and held his palms towards each other, energy forming in between. He swung both arms out, releasing a swift current of electric energy outward, slicing through the flames and the sludge and corrupted earth and pushing them away from him. With his hands still surged with the same electric energy, Hiyama lunged for Elbrus. He reached the demon in no time, due to being so close. He punched right for Elbrus's gut, but the demon had managed to jump back to avoid a direct hit. Instead, his fist hit the ground, releasing a shockwave of energy, pushing the demon back. Although it wasn't a direct attack, Elbrus had sustained some damage, but it wasn't quite enough.

Hiyama planted his feet on the ground, and jumped for Elbrus again, punching with his other fist. Elbrus managed to block that with his hand. The force of the blow released a shockwave between them, cracking the earth underneath their feet. Hiyama was focused on Elbrus now, and wasn't concerned with anything else going on around him. He didn't even notice Cairalei basically devouring one of the soldiers.

Hiyama swung his legs forward for a few kicks, kicking into Elbrus's chest and pushing him back a bit. However, Elbrus managed to grab Hiyama by the ankle and swung him over his head, slamming him into the ground. Hiyama laid there a for moment, before rolling away to avoid Elbrus's attempt to stomp down on him. Hiyama's fists became engulfed in flames as he unleashed a flurry of blows for Elbrus, to which Elbrus responded using his wings as a shield. The wings were tougher than they looked. Hiyama wouldn't be able to use his own wings as a shield if he wanted to. "Tch!"

Hiyama jumped back as Elbrus swung his wings outward, avoiding a direct hit from them. However, the gust of wind had pushed Hiyama back, nearly knocking him off his feet. Hiyama was panting, almost drained of his energy. He would have to make this last spell count. Hiyama took his stance as he readied his spell, energy swirling around him. He collected the energy into his chest, and slowly rose up to his throat. Finally, he opened his mouth and released the energy in a firey inferno. The ground in the wake of this attack was incinerated immediately as the blast made its way towards Elbrus. The blast exploded right where Elbrus was, creating a large cloud of smoke, making it hard to see whether his attack had hit or not. After releasing that amount of energy, Hiyama had reverted back to his original form, falling to his knees, and placing a hand down on the ground to stabilize him. He watched for the smoke to clear as he breathed heavily, his body feeling heavy now.

Horrin watched as Phelan fight the Ravagers, slaying some of them, as the remaining ravagers circled the young mage. He then turned to see Elbrus getting hit directly but Hiyama's spell that rose up from underneath. Horrin held up his arm as he moved away, to avoid getting hurt. "You better not lose to that elf, Elbrus!" He shouted, as he watched Elbres move to counterattack.

Horrin began walking towards him, drawing out his fel dagger, poised to strike when he was ready to. He held his staff in his other hand, holding it up to summon three more Ravagers, all of which jumped into the fray of battle with Phelan. However, Phelan had dropped his arcane sword, and proceeded to slam his staff into the ground, releasing a wave of energy outward, pushing the ravagers back, who had held up their scythes up to defend themselves. Horrin held up his arms to defend against the attack, being pushed back a bit. When the gust of energy was done, the ravagers lowered their scythes. "Why won't you just die already!" He shouted, swinging his staff and hurling a ball of dark energy towards the man.

The Ravagers that were facing Illyndrathyl moved to surrounded the warrior elf after he evaded their initial attacks. He then proceeded to take a battle stance. The Ravagers paused for a moment, before lunging to strike. Horrin didn't seem to worry too much about the elf, thinking he wouldn't be too much trouble to handle. But he could be severely underestimating the elven warrior.

Jodan heard the voice of someone he didn't recognized, and turned towards the new female, his eyes narrowing a bit. He wasn't sure what she was talking about. However, he had noticed another presence approaching them, through his Foresight. Shortly after, the sound of metal could be heard. Jodan held up his staff, releasing a few purple orbs of energy, which quickly expanded into small barriers that cluttered together to form a bigger shield in front of him. Even though he could have made a single large one, he had always found using multiple smaller barriers and having them overlap each other would create a better defense. However, it seemed unnecessary for the young blonde to create a barrier to protect himself and the new girl, as she had also erected a barrier to protect them. The blades the new male, garbed in what appeared to be holy armor, had released bounced off the barrier.

After the attack had finished and the barriers went down, the wings at Jodan's hips appeared as he bean to hover in the air, one of the orb ends of his staff taking on the spear head. Whoever this man was, he wasn't friendly if his attack was aimed at him. What did he even do to this man anyways? What makes him think it was okay to attack someone he probably has never met before? Milo had rushed into the fray, striking at the man in he holy armor. However, it seemed Milo was now fighting some clones, while the man approached Jodan and the other woman that stood close by. Jodan watched as the man sheathed his sword, pulling out some sort of orb, seeming to shine towards them. Jodan stared for a moment, but he could tell there was something bad about this thing. Jodan swung his staff up, releasing a single yellow orb of energy. "Get away!" He shouted, as he moved back away, as the yellow orb expanded, creating a bright flash that was meant to temporarily blind the man in holy armor. Jodan didn't want to risk getting blinded himself as well. Jodan had left another surprise for this man as he moved away. A single red orb of energy hovered behind the man, ready to ignite whenever Jodan deemed the time is right. And if the man noticed and tried to hit it away, it would explode on contact.

He turned to Aliyah as she approached, saying they needed to leave, and asking the other woman to escort him away from here. This caused Jodan to grumble, his cheeks puffing out as he began to pout. Again with this! Before he could say anything, Aliyah had rushed forward to face the man in holy armor. Jodan wasn't going to be left out of this battle, when he could fight alongside Milo and Aliyah, and the new woman, assuming she's also an ally. Jodan remained where he was, hovering in the air with his hip wings stretched out. He hovered his way up beside Aliyah, his eyes focused on the man.

"I would suggest you try not to move." He spoke up, the red orb of energy slowly hovering up at level with the head of the man in holy armor. If the man tried to move at all, Jodan would have it ignite and explode. And within such close proximity, the man would likely sustain heavy damage. "Who are you and why are you attacking us?" He questioned He paused for a moment. "Are you working with that demon?" He asked again. The timing between the demon attacking and this man attacking seemed all too convenient, and a little suspicious. It would be likely that Elbrus had other allies working with him. With Jodan's Foresight focused on the man, he could determine whether this man would be lying or not. It did seem a little odd though. Jodan could detect that sense of righteousness coming from this man. If that was the case, then wouldn't this guy be on their side? Or maybe it was his own version of what is right to him.

xxxxxWander listened to Atlas speak, his voice as soft and melodious as his song. Whoever he was, it was highly likely that he liked to sing. He also tended to the gold chain and medallion about his neck as if it were more than a mere trinket. Strange that the chain and medallion would survive his foray into the water, whereas the rest of his clothes had apparently been eaten by a clothes-eating water monster or the like. But now the stranger was dressed in appropriate clothes, and his ankle had healed. The only other thing left to do was to help him be on his way.
xxxxxAtlas seemed to be regaining some memories, as he began to recall that he was but one of three brothers, and triplets no less. So he did have some family after all. Wander felt himself drift away but for a moment within his mind. There would be someone who would be looking for Atlas. That must have been nice. They must have missed him so much. There would be no one waiting for Wander. He had broken the rules of his village by stealing the ancient sword and traveling to the forbidden land. He would be as an outcast when they find him, assuming that they let him live.
xxxxxThe strain of remembering seemed to be getting to Atlas, as he touched his temple gently. Nothing else came from him, so that was probably the end of his train of thought. Well, no matter. He would have to be taken to Maldria, even if he didn't know what a Maldria was. Surely there would be someone who might recognize him. "Shall we go?" he asked, mounting Agro. Yes, Maldria was the place to go for such information. He held up his Sword of Light, and the beacon that resulted indeed pointed in its direction. "If you do not recall what a Maldria is, then I shall show you the city with your own eyes."

Sanura's body ached. She wished she had brought the ointment to numbed her. When unable to feel the pain she was always able to do so much, however, who would have thought that a stroll to the market would have needed such precautions. She noted she would need to make space on her belt for the medicine for future reference.

It didn't take long for others to become involved in the situation with her and the light haired woman. To Sanura it didn't matter who got caught in the crossfire, however, she was becoming more irritated. She couldn't understand why a day that seemed so peaceful with no people had to be the day where everyone decided to stick their nose into her business. She held the syringe tighter in her arm listening to the male and the child with a ...stuffed rabbit? It mattered not.

Sanura only cared about the stranger she met at the moment. Curious as to what she was and what made her what she was able to do. Experiment and learn from the woman. The woman in all honestly didn't look like she could do much but her power was amazing, even Sanura would struggle to do the feats the woman was doing regardless of her being a half demon. She readied herself for the next attack but it seemed the man needed to interfere, showcasing his strength as well and offering the woman a battle. Sanura smiled. Perhaps just maybe she didn't have to get her hands any dirtier than they already were. Let the man challenge the woman. Let her have a show and see who comes out on top and hope that one would become her guinea pig.

As Sanura made her way to some shade to tend to her wounds she made sure to keep an eye on the child and any debris that could possibly be heading her way.

Zu watched everything unfold as Markus seemed to try to clear the room of all the tense atmosphere. She let out a deep breath still not quite trusting the army of the undead. If they meant no harm why bring so many? Then again what did she know?

The lavender haired girl watched as Klonus gladly made himself at home, going over towards bar and picking out a very pretty delicacy. She pondered on asking him if he really should be drinking the good stuff due to the possibility of being quite pricey and perhaps the revenue of the tavern. However, did she have room to talk? She had gone down to the cellar with no invite to dine on cheese and wine herself. Her face showed a puzzled expression. No, She had changed a lot from those few hours ago. "Klonus do you not believe that maybe we should-" she was interrupted by the man. "Brave?" That was definitely a first. She was used to hearing words more towards foolish, brash, insolent and stupid. She shrugged. "Thanks, I guess..." she mumbled not sure what to do with the compliment. She smiled and giggled. "If I don't get us killed then I'll make sure to protect you guys"Her words were playful. She knew well she wouldn't stand a chance with anybody but at least it didn't mean she wouldn't try.

She sighed and looked towards Lacie feeling somewhat bad. Was the Tavern even going to open? It seemed more and more beings showed up and kept her from her duties. Zuki looked determined. She had a secret debt to repay after all. Xago had already started the fire and she had gotten permission to be in the cellar perhaps she could create something and hope that Lacie would not be upset. If anything she planned to pay her back with her earnings if her idea was a bad one.

The girl made her way towards the kitchen and began to boil some water, she figured perhaps a nice nutritious vegetable soup with some warm baked bread would be the way to go as she made her way down towards the cellar to get more veggies.

Ichka watched the exchange between Nowe and Urick, somewhat humorous. It seemed, however, that there was no changing Nowe's mind. Ichka glared at him once more. If that was the game he wanted to play then so be it. She figured she'd do the same. Her pride always getting in her way. She had her mind set that Nowe would never be "worthy" due to his impudent behavior, if he ever decided to speak she'd simply ignore him. "Quite the charmer you are..." any other day Ichka would have entertained the idea, but right now she had other concerns. Champions? Her mind was whisked away from pondering any further as Urick stated they were there for Lumis. She squeezed Lumis' arm. Healing powers? They Know. Ichka growled. "I'm sorry Urick, but there's no way I'm letting you have her after the trauma you guys caused her." it didn't take long for Lumis to begin voicing her own opinions and questions.

Ichka truly did not care for the beings Lumis was traveling with and she needed to keep her away from the other vampires. It was her find and she wanted to keep it that way. It upset her that the reptile seemed to make more sense than the vampire. She had high hopes of making sure Lumis didn't join them, but now... she wasn't so sure. Her tone of voice was full of concern. "Lumis...I do not believe that is a good idea...it seems they have their own agenda...and we do not know how they intend to use you" She decided not to touch upon the healing properties they spoke of. If Lumis negated the offer she figured she'd bring it up then.

xxxxxA man entered the tavern slowly, glancing around. "Huh," he mused. "I wasn't aware that the tavern was open yet, but sure - I'll take it." He looked around the tavern with hypnotizing emerald eyes and casually noticed Val, then sat down before him as if he'd been invited. "Hey there, buddy. Haven't seen you around before. You new here?" While clothed in the garments of a messenger, the clothing did not fit him well, and he smelled of torches and metal armor. His smile was well practiced, and he seemed completely oblivious to the rest of the tavern. "Been around much yet? Looking for something to do, someone to talk to? You don't seem the type to be sitting in a tavern, waiting for adventure to come to you. I can fix that."
xxxxxThe man leaned back in his chair and pulled out a flask, apparently not intent on waiting to order a drink from the tavern itself. He opened the flask and took a swig, then leaned back even further and propped his legs up on a barrel situated nearby. "See, there's a job I'm thinking of taking, but the guild in Dragon Castle's currently closed down for renovations so I can't just hire someone to help me out. I would hire someone from this here tavern or others at the job board, but there's literally no one offering to assist with jobs at the moment,so I'm kinda at my wits end."
xxxxxThe man took a second swig of his flask, then motioned to Val's bow. "You're an...archer, right? Must be pretty good, if you're running around flashing an enchanted gold mine around like that. The job I'm taking would require someone with a keen eye to keep watch over me and make sure nothing happens to me." He began to play with his tie in his free hand, rubbing it in between his index finger and thumb. "And believe me - I can pay. Or, if money's not your thing, I can hook you up with some nice enchanted items and enchantments instead." He looked Val up and down, then hid his smile behind his flask and took a third swig. "So...whaddaya say? Wanna hear more?"
