Unlike many grunts, Jordan very much preferred the mundane cleaning tasks of a grunt to running around obstacle courses as a trainee or out on the field doing missions as an agent. It was the one time she was sent out to fetch more cleaning supplies that she felt she was being made to step out of her comfort zone. The woman almost never went anywhere without her rubber gloves, but to go out in public meant a great deal more protective equipment against the germs and bacteria to be found in the city.

Just the thought of so many people gathered together in such a small, congested area made her feel sick. Her higher-ups weren’t going to hear of her concerns, however. If she was going to be a useful Rocket, she couldn’t complain about menial tasks like this. It wasn’t as if she could just order stuff online to be delivered right to her doorstep like she used to prior to joining the organization.

So, after scrubbing herself from top to bottom (as was her usual ritual), putting on some new, fairly cheap garments (that she could burn later if necessary), equipping herself with her sanitizing spray, tying back her platinum blond hair, and protecting herself with science goggles in addition to her usual rubber gloves, Jordan took a deep breath and braced herself for her venture out of the sanctuary that was the Rocket base.

Within a few hours, she was standing at a street corner in Camphoreon, paralyzed with fear. She wanted to cross the street, but she couldn’t touch the button to signal the traffic light because who knew what germs it was crawling with? Even with gloves, she couldn’t bring herself to touch the thing. She would have loved to spray it with her sanitizer and wipe it off, but there were so many people around her already giving her strange looks that she feared they might think she was attempting to contaminate it instead.

If she wanted to get across to the department store selling the specific cleaning supplies she required, however, it would have to be done. That, or she would have to wait until someone wanted to cross that particular side street and allow them to push it instead. Who knew how long that would be, though? She had already been standing there around 20 minutes trying to muster up her courage.
