 Ven might have tried engross himself in the notes, but it didn't mean that he was lost to the world. His nose caught an unfortunately familiar scent (with food?), enough to make him suddenly alert, but before he could escape, strong arms wrapped around his neck and Gianna peered around to grin at him. Ven barely stopped himself from burying his head in his hands. He needed entertainment, but he didn't mean for the fates to hear him and turn him into the entertainment himself. He did like Gia, but he had a feeling that while she liked him as well, she enjoyed flustering him even more.
"Ah, uh, good morning to you too Gianna?" his face heated up. Godammit, he was showing weakness already. "Glad to help?" his voiced raised at the end in a question. He was always too flustered to speak properly around her, especially since she had no qualms latching onto him or grabbing his arm and she took great joy in his reactions, unfortunately. But he couldn't help a small smile; as much as he'd make a fool of himself, he did appreciate her company. Mostly. She then deposited the sweets he'd smelled on his desk and Ven's attention immediately latched onto them. "Are those for me?" he couldn't help but ask hopefully, his stomach choosing that precise moment to remind him of the biscuits he'd finished, causing his face to heat up in embarrassment. She asked about the orientation last night and Ven did cover his face with his hand, groaning. "Don't talk to me about yesterday," he sighed. "If you count almost missing the orientation then losing Ezra and Eli at the festival interesting, then yes, something happened." Now that he could think objectively about it, the situation was almost funny, except Ven was not willing to go through something like that again. At least Ezra now knew to feed Eli properly, otherwise who knew what else would happen in Ven's absence. he looked back up at Gianna, raising an eyebrow at her amused look. "I take it your day was much better?" He hoped at least.

Ven drew back when Gianna pinched his cheeks, face turning bright red and justifying her nickname, to his mortification. "Don't do that, I'm not a child," he muttered that last part, almost petulantly. He snorted in agreement when she guessed correctly that he found them. "Troublesome is one way to describe it. But I did find them, at the end of the festival of course." She was right, if he hadn't found them last night, he'd have been frantic; who knew what could have happened? Of course, Gianna then had to make a comment about his worried face and the blush on his face (which had nearly faded) came back in full force. "Of course I'd be worried, why wouldn't I?" he asked, trying to sound dignified despite his obvious embarrassment.
He was relieved to hear that her day went much better, although he frowned at her comment about drunken passes. Gianna could take care of herself, he knew that, but that didn't mean that he liked hearing about that. Not at all. "At least one of us had a good day." She then inquired about what he was doing, adding one of her usual comments and it took all Ven had to not sputter incoherently. This was one reason why he liked to keep busy, he had an excuse to escape this. Not this time, he thought, looking mournfully at the papers he'd scattered. He could try, but it would have been a weak attempt. "I wasn't doing anything important," he admitted finally, "Just some last minute checking. Nothing interesting." The promise of food perked him, although he paused for a moment. On one hand, it was food that she probably made (and she was a good cook), on the other hand, it was in her office, Gianna's territory. But, he acquiesced, he could really use some food now. Ven rubbed his neck in embarrassment, there wasn't a good way to phrase this. "Uh, I wouldn't mind having some food?" He barely managed to stop his voice from cracking. He suddenly got the foreboding feeling that he'd made a mistake.
