[Oba] Yitzah vs Aylin

Yitzah had been lying there, hurting a little, feeling bad for herself for a few solid minutes of time.

She was terrible - not even close to good enough to face the dretch, to even make the decision to face them. She wasn't even good enough to stand up and fight like she should.

What was wrong with her? Why couldn't she do better?

Aylin looked nervously at Yitzah- what was she playing at? The Alkdike looked fine, but it could be difficult to judge with non-physical attacks. She decided that she must just be sulking- and that she would not stand.

"Don't you go ignoring me!" She needed to get Yitzah's fighting spirit up, and hopefully an attack would do just that? She spun her staff around her at ankle height and this time called on the air to rush up from along the ground. Releasing the attack as she heaved the staff upwards, "That should get you up!"

Yitzah yelped as she was flung up from the ground, flailing wildly as she landed and drew her arrow angrily. The energy within came out in a rush, and she fired a few arrows at Aylin in retaliation.

"You don't understaaaand!" she snapped angrily, "You don't!" Understand what? Why was it important. Yitzah didn't know or care. She was still sulking, but at least she was on her feet...

The volley of arrows nicked and sliced as they passed, Aylin doing her best to avoid one fully impaling her like last time. She pulled at the water that had soaked into the ground and swung her staff, an arc of water slashing up out of the sand towards Yitzah.

She huffed from the exertion as she coaxed her healing energy towards the myriad of wounds she'd sustained from the arrows, each one sealing as she worked. "What don't I understand?" At least this was getting the Alkidike talking, and moving, "...I never will unless you talk to me."

The water struck her, broadside, and Yitzah managed to recover - and see through both water and a sudden onburst of tears - to fire off a few more shots. Her arm ached from the impact and from the draw strength of her bow, and her confused frustration grew as Aylin healed her damage again.

"I..." Her aim drooped. What didn't Aylin understand? Yitzah suddenly didn't know. Indeed, Aylin understood a lot, better than most. "I... I can't do anything." she managed after a moment, "I can't stop the people from bein' kidnapped, or the bugmen, or... or anything."

The strength of Yitzah's shots took Aylin by surprise and she quickly looped her staff around, still connected to the energy of the water, and swung it back in the direction of Yitzah's torso. She ached at the torment in Yitzah's voice- she knew that helpless desperation too well and she called out, "But you're not powerless anymore! That's why we're training- we can fight back."

Her mind traveled back to how powerless she had felt against the Oban army, "It takes action to heal- I had to come here as part of my own healing path. I'm going back to Jauhar and you can come with me!"

"But..." Yitzah's antennae twitched again and she moved her torso along with the water, reducing it's force somewhat and drawing her bow again in the same movement. The water felt very cool in the blazing Oba heat as it soaked her top and immediately began to dry in the thirsty air as she loosed another arrow at Aylin.

"But I've been doin' that!" she whined, "I've been 'ere for years, training to fight them. And I'm still not good 'nuff." she sniffled, "I'm not ready, but there they are an' If I wanna..." Her voice trailed off into a wet, unhappy cough, "I don't..." again, her voice trailed off, though this time into nothing but confusion, mirrored in her black, black eyes.

"I don't wanna lose this chance. I don't wanna go back." she said, frustrated at the contradiction in her words.

Aylin tried-and failed- to dodge her friend's arrow, worry creasing the lines of her face. She tried to calm herself, drawing upon her knowledge of healing magic to seal the wound she'd received while she spoke. Aylin looked at Yitzah's troubled eyes and sighed in frustration, confusion plainly read in her voice, "I don't know what opportunity this is for you- but you don't have to come with me. I don't know what made you leave- but maybe training with your sisters would help you."

Yitzah Misses!

Yitzah fired another arrow, as if somehow the effort needed to nock, pull back, and loose the arrow would reduce her frustration. Her horrible, conflicted, burning, impotent frustration.

"It wouldn't! My Sisters..." the word was said with bitterness, masked only by the tears. Yitzah was, definitely, not a pretty sort of cry-er. "They don't know nothin'!" Images of Dyakida and her betrayal (actually, Yitzah wasn't sure what the artisan had done anymore. She just hated. And hated. And raged. There was so much rage...) and of the Alkidikes at the meeting, so long ago. And at the ones who had decided to fight their own people... "They don't do nothin! The bugmen've been around for so long! S... so long... She fumbled one of her arrows, as the memory of fire, mixed with loss, mixed again with childish feelings of being robbed. "And nobody ever did a thing 'bout it! They just fought with each other, an' bickered 'bout hybrids!" Stupid fools! Idiots, all of them.

"I was supposed t' come here an' train, and then I was supposed to go back an' kill the bugmen, but I ain't no good at any of that..."

Clearly -- as one of her arrows rolled sadly on the ground. She didn't want to hurt Aylin, Aylin was her friend, but she couldn't hit a moving target. What kind of hunter was she?
