Hugs was back to ignoring the ugly thing and trying to kick his booties off. Sadly Riya had tied them well enough at the top so that they just were not coming off his paws.

The mention of getting something to eat sounded nice. "Mm, what are you hungry for?" She would have offered to make him something but even she knew that her cooking skills were not up to par just yet. Her mother was working on that though. Iriyana had been against the idea at first but after being told that Ergon might like it she was willing to learn. "Do you have something special that you like better than other things?" It was her subtle way of finding out what to learn to cook first.

He cocked his head back slightly to consider his options. Anything special? "The Golden Nest is having a special on its sirenn bowls. I guess their last order was a full delivery, so they have more than usual. I wouldn't mind a hot bowl of that." While Ergon was a Zena first sort of man, there were a couple things he could appreciate about the other territories. The meat imported from them was one. A different meat with Zenan spices was a nice treat. "That must be the customer."

Up ahead, a man was peeking into the windows of the shop. The duruf gave a chuff of excitement at the new face ahead, eager to inspect the visitor.

She made a note of what he said he liked and smiled at him. "Alright, that sounds like it would taste very nice right now." Riya was excited that she now had an idea of what to ask her mother to learn to cook. Plus she could ask her dad to help her in getting the ingredients.

When he said something about a customer she looked forward and tilted her head. "They must really want that ugly thing.." Seeing them peeking in windows like that made her a little worried that they might be expecting something a bit more... better looking. Iriyana looked at Ergon then back before shrugging her shoulders. "Guess we should hand it over and go eat."

Hugs saw the person ahead and gave a growl of distrust as he snapped his tail back and forth doing what he could to look threatening with a sweater and booties on.

Snorting lightly with amusement at Riya's comment, he quickly walked forward to approach the person. The thing was ugly, but he kept that thought to himself as he got closer.

Indeed, the man was very excited to see his new pet. On closer inspection though, a bit of hesitation could be seen in the man's face. However, he had made the purchase already. He murmured something along the lines of "get used to it" under his breath before he took the duruf and headed off. The duruf looked back at the trio with a happy bark as it was guided off.

Ergon was breathing slowly to keep from laughing out loud. Someone on Belrea was going to be getting a displeased letter... He turned back to Iriyana and held out his arm with a charming smile. "Shall we go eat?"

She looked at him when he snorted at her but said nothing. Instead she focused on Hugs as Ergon went to take care of his customer. She reached down and patted the feline on the head. "Enough of that.. they are taking the Duruf home." Iriyana hoped that in reassuring her own beast he would calm down and stop making so much noise.

Once Ergon was free of the ugly creature she looked at him and smiled. "Mm, food then a walk?" Spending time with him was fun. Plus, she could always start a snowball fight on their walk if it became boring. Not that she thought it would but it was nice to have a back up plan. "Do you have to be back at work or do I get you for the rest of the day?"

"Food and then a walk," he agreed, guiding the way to the tavern he had chosen. "We have closed for the day. I was just waiting for the customer to show up and take his.. pet." Absolutely absurd. He felt a smile rise though, and he gently bumped his arm against her's. "I guess that means that you get me all to yourself for the evening~"

As he bumped his arm into her she looped hers with his and grinned at him. "Rest of the evening? Well now.. I'm not sure I have that much attention to give." Riya laughed in a teasing manner. "Mm, well so long as you walk me home if it's after dark then my family won't send out the search parties." Ever since her fall from the cliff they had been hovering like an ice hawk looking for rabbit.

"Don't suppose you have an idea of where to walk?" She really only knew of her hunting trails and she didn't think that Ergon wanted to walk those with her. They went pretty far into the hills.

Now that their arms were linked, Ergon gave hers a light squeeze. "I will take whatever attention you are able to spare for me," he assured with a grin. Then he put his free hand to his chest in mock horror, and also in a mild but honest pout. "Riya, I am shocked that you would suggest that I would send you home after dark without escorting you." He knew she was teasing, but he would never!

"I suppose I only considered walking through town. We could go into the forest a little if you would prefer to get away from town. There is still light left in the day so that it should not be dangerous to walk." He wasn't much of a hunter on his own, so walking the woods was more of a past-time for him.

As he mocked being hurt by her words she rolled her eyes and bumped into him on purpose. "Oh stop that. I just meant that my family relaxes a bit more when I'm with you rather than by myself." All things considered when she was by herself she tended to get into trouble.

The mention of the woods made her look toward the trees. "How about around town first then we'll see about the woods." Riya didn't want to drag him along if he hadn't planned for a trip into the woods.

"So one of my uncles went down to Sauti to see my mother and brother." She commented. For months now she had been in Zena away from her family, staying with her aunt and uncles instead. Mostly because she didn't want to leave Ergon.

"Town first," he agreed. Easier to walk the paths of town than through the woods, after all. The news made him look over to her with a bit of surprise. "I am surprised you did not go with him. They have been gone for a while, have they not? Surely they miss you." After a pause he smiled and shook his head. "Not that I'm upset that you are here, of course. Quite the opposite."

When asked why she didn't go to see her brother she looked down. "Well, I wanted to stay close to you." Riya felt her cheeks warm a little but she cleared her throat and looked away from Ergon to hide it. "I mean, unless you wanted to go to Sauti with me."

Her shoulders cam up in an innocent shrug. "Just an idea." Iriyana took that moment to peek toward him and see what his reaction to what she said was.

The admission was a pleasant surprise in turn that warmed his belly. Immediately after though, the suggestion made his nose wrinkle. Leaving Zena was never something Ergon looked forward to. He kept business trips to a minimum, and had never gone for fun. But to go with Riya to see her family... That would be a worthwhile cause, right? ...What self-respecting Zenan willingly left for anything other than a brief business trip?

"It.. is an idea," he said hesitantly. He wouldn't jump at the opportunity, but he could not let himself completely dismiss it, either. A trip with Riya... "How.. how long.. do you think we would stay.. if we went?"

She noticed the hesitation in his voice and laughed. "It's alright Ergon."

When he asked how long the stay would be if they did go she thought about it. Being able to go down and see her mother and father and brother would be fun. Not to mention Eira and Li. "Dunno, at least a week." Likely longer since she would want to catch up with everyone. "But Eira's Inn isn't far from the border. So it wouldn't really take that long to get there." It was just a matter of climbing down the mountain and crossing into Sauti.

His last experience with Sauti had been the meeting where the Dretch had shown up and he had been mugged. It was an experience Ergon was less than eager to revisit. He had to be logical though. There would be fewer people, the fright would not be so acute, and they would be with Riya's family. Eira? That name sounded familiar.. "Perhaps.. at some point.." he ventured, clearing his throat. "It is not as though I have never been to Sauti."

She could still tell that he was hesitant and so she smiled at him. Riya never really expected Ergon to do as she did. Since she was raised with a mixed family and they had traveled when she was young there was no prejudice in her. It was different for him. Truly she was the one that messed up his world and made it messy. Iriyana was the bad influence. "Don't worry, if I do go it will only be for a few days and I won't make you go."

Of course she had to admit that she did feel like she was missing a lot by being away from her brother. They were twins after all and yet.. she was starting to know him less and less.
