Personality: She might give off a snobbish first impression but in reality, she's pretty laid back and open-minded to new things. She's also one to take the lead in conversations but not in a rude fashion, but she does enjoy a good-hearted discussion. Though there are times she seems to be distant or cold, it's probably when she's hyperfocus with work because she's a small brand name trying to make a living. But otherwise, she's usually very social and good with forming friendships, though she's iffy when it comes to intimate relationships due to her past she's currently working through it.
Bio: Avantika grew in an upper-class family with her mother working in aerospace engineering and her father in biomedical engineering. Some say she grew up spoiled but she really grew up under the false assumption/pressure she had to follow in their footsteps for her own career. Sure she had an interest in bioengineering and programming, but it wasn't something she wanted to make a living out of. She became an expert at avoiding that conversation topic during family gatherings, especially as an only child.
During her school years, there wasn't a whole happening worth noting. She had the face to be 'the popular girls' and even shared similar interests as most of them but it wasn't her priority. She was mostly doing her own thing till she graduated high school. In post-secondary, she attended university. She had the grades and the financial stability to do so without worrying a whole lot. She graduated with a bioengineering major and a fashion/programming minor and then pursued a career in the fashion industry as a designer.
Starting fresh in any industry is difficult, working hard to make a name of yourself against the existing giants while also against other small names with the same goal as yourself. Like anyone else, she wanted to build her business using local materials over imported to support other small businesses. And it worked out pretty well and she launched her brand "Vantif", so far she's been designing several evening/ formal dresses, traditional Anarkali dresses as an homage to her culture along with small jewelry to complete the look.
She wasn't making bank or anything but she was one of those businesses that had a decent clientele. But she needed a partner to handle the business part of it cause it wasn't her expert. That was when she met him, at first they were good business partners, a healthy relationship where they did their part and the brand grew. As time passed, they grew more closer; romantically. That was when they began a more intimate relationship. You can say the relationship went from 0 to 100 fast but they were working together for a few years by now so that was kind of their unofficial dating phase. You'd think they would be a great couple but something was happening behind her back that she wasn't aware of. He was planning to make his own brand and steal her ideas, even embezzled company money for personal use. It seemed that was his motif from the start when they became business partners, and when he got what he wanted. He broke up with her and started his own company, using her designs.
Heartbroken, betrayed and enraged all in one, she had to quickly pick up the pieces of her heart and have a steady head on her shoulders before rushing into things with how she'll handle this. Collecting proof of ownership and calling close family, she was able to get a lawyer to sue her ex-partner for embezzlement and conspiracy of theft. What was stolen was thankfully returned but she wasn't the same after that. It's been under five years since she took an online class for running a business. But she refuses to partner up with anyone, both employment and romantic-wise. Her cousins have encouraged her to take therapy to work through it.
