Crystal rolled her eyes as she watched her brother go. Typical him. She narrowed her eyes as the sun shone through the windows into her face. Standing up, she drew the curtains and then walked outside onto the street. “So you’re the Crystal girl.” Crystal spun around, immediately hissing; “Convocare i cristalli scuri!” An assortment of common crystals arose from the ground. They were pointed like hundreds of daggers, all pointing at the person behind her. Out of the shadows stepped some guy Crystal hadn’t seen before. He was dressed in total black. His eyes were strange, inhuman, exactly like snake eyes. The eyes looked frightening. “That’s the best you can do?” he taunted, building a force-field around himself. It looked like it was made of complete darkness. He expanded it, until Crystal realized, a little to late, that she was in danger. The force field hit her and threw her off her feat. “Argh!” She hit the wall painfully but immediately stood back up, this time fully attacking the enemy with her makeshift daggers. However, the guy was far to quick and was soon behind her, throwing dark orbs at her so Crystal was once again flying through the air. This time, she tried to land on her feet. “Not bad,” the guy murmured, and suddenly stopped. He didn’t attack, but Crystal was sure he would any minute. “You are one of the amulet holders, aren’t you?” the boy asked, taking a step closer. “You’re not getting it, and if you get any closer I will kill you so quickly you wouldn’t even see it coming,” Crystal growled, trying to sound as threatening as Tornado. The guy chuckled. “No you won’t. You’re a lot weaker than me. And if you kill me, my brother will kill you. That’s what we came here for, actually. To eliminate you.” “The amulet’s powers are only true to-” “You think this is about the amulet’s power?” “Yes! It’s what the Moons and Shadows have been after for years! So, to which group do you work for?!” “I work for no-one,” the guy growled. “My name is Shadow. I’m an assassin, you may have noticed. But your death isn’t for the benefit of one person; it’s for the benefit of the world.” Crystal narrowed her eyes. “I don’t like your talk.” “You’re not meant to,” he said, grinning. “The funny thing is that you have no damn clue what the power of the amulet really is.” He suddenly threw another orb at Crystal, who didn’t expect it. She had no time to duck and the orb hit her eyes, blinding her. Suddenly she couldn’t see anything... but she could hear things, awful screaming, yelling, pleading... splatters of blood filled her sight and she wondered if it was her own blood... the screaming got closer, and she realized she couldn’t sense anything. She could only hear and see but there was no feeling in her body, it was completely numb. Her breath reduced, slower and slower until suddenly she got no more air... “Crystal! Wake up!” Tornado’s voice filled her chaotic mind. “Can you hear me?” “Huh...” Crystal opened her eyes. She was still in the alley, but the guy was gone. There was blood on her hands. Then she felt a horrible pain in her right arm. Crystal turned to look, and saw something seemed to have pierced her skin. A wound on her right arm was bleeding. “You’re awake,” Tornado said, sighing in relief. He was already busy healing Crystal’s arm with his power. “That Shadow... he tried to kill you. I came in just in time, but you had been paralyzed by one of his orbs. He’s powerful, I couldn’t defeat him.” “He’s not a Shadow.” “Huh?” “He’s not a Shadow,” Crystal repeated. “He said so. He’s an assassin, but he wanted to kill me for the benefit of the world.” Tornado’s eyes clouded for a moment, and then he said; “His name is Shadow. He told me right before he left.” “Why did he want to kill me, if it wasn’t for the amulet?” Crystal asked. She knew Tornado knew, but he probably wasn’t going to tell her, straight away. “I don’t know,” Tornado said, looking away. “I healed your arm. We need to get back inside.”
