She was once a little fish. Until one day she fell asleep on a jellyfish and was founded near a cliff by the sea, by a boy named Sosuke. She started turning into a human because she had a taste of Sosuke's blood. The world was being flooded because magic elixirs went into the ocean, and only if Sosuke promises to love Ponyo forever will the Earth return to normal.
