Dunban is both a veteran soldier of colony 9, and the mentor of Shulk and Reyn. He's also the older brother of Fiora, and all three of them look up to him like a father-figure. While using the Monado to fight the war at Sword Valley, Dunban lost the use of his dominant right hand due to the monado's power, forcing him to wield a katana sword with his left hand.
