- Title: The Aquamancer's Familiar
- Artist: Borogarl
-
Description:
Aquamancy, or water magic, is mostly a forgotten art in Gaia.
More arcane students follow paths of necromancy or pyromancy.
This familiar was found gathering artifacts at the bottom of Bass'ken Lake.
It nearly died in its capture but has proven to be a volatile specimen, somehow already flooding 2 research facilities with water "out of thin air"
He is test-subject #8.20, but we call him "Puddles" - Date: 04/13/2009

- (2) The dark horns, contrasting the high and low tones of the Kelp ‘o the Loch mane, is balanced by the armor and chest plate, which would be out of balance if the artist had chosen a lighter shade crown or headpiece…

- (3) Additionally, the wide-spread horns and the armor form a triangular balance that draws the eye to the center of the work—a textbook technique that demonstrates either this artist’s training in the field of design or his amazing natural instinct…

- (4) Finally, the lighter shade below the waistline is appropriate to the water-familiar description, giving a subtle sense of “fade out” as the creature should be submerged in water. The light blue blends into the invisible waves of its habitat in much the way that natural camouflage would apply in the wild…
