For Hiroshima Day
6 August 1945, US bombers drop the atom bomb on Hiroshima, Japan.
Tengu: Japanese Crow Deity, punishes arrogant warriors.
Debate continues re: ethics & strategy. This entry is not engaging in debate but honors the dead, among them my uncle.
About 70K died immediately in Hiroshima + 40K in Nagasaki. 200K died of radiation effects up to 1950. Leukemia & cancer deaths continued for decades, including my uncle who served in a US Navy hospital ship in the harbor. RIP - Date: 08/01/2010
