The background was to blend in the black on the avatar, making it look sucked in (not really the phrase I was wanting, though it explains it partly).

You asked for my opinion so here it is!
This is sooo cute! The colours are very interesting and its not the usual thing you'd see under that title. I don't really understand the significance of the branch and the sort of thigh/knee area looks a little messy to me, compared with the other lines and feel you have with the rest of the avatar, but that's very minor really, and overall this is really nice!
