"Love is power. Give it to another and you will bring bliss. Friends, criminals, strangers, and even yourself. All is reborn when you forgive, love, and understand."
Matilda
"I am the light. I am the darkness. Half of myself is what you have fought in the past. I create, I destroy, and I create again. I am love. Not all of me is just. Not all of me is pure. That is only half of myself. Those who desire my other half cross their swords. People's freedom is lost, and my truth is buried. I shall show you my darkness. You must defeat me. You will become a hero. Open the path to those who search for me."
-The Mana Tree
"Say, you smell like blood!
Did you just kill somebody?
Hmm?
I once killed someone when I was younger...
I thought I was doing the right thing.
Bet then I was cut down, betrayed by a friend.
You may think you're right, but one day you'll be killed, too...
As long as everyone thinks their right, mankind will never change.
Is that what you really want?"
Alice
If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Alice
I wonder if I've been changed in the night? Let me think. Was I the same when I got up this morning? I almost think I can remember feeling a little different. But if I'm not the same, the next question is 'Who in the world am I?' Ah, that's the great puzzle!
•"The sun burnt every day. It burnt Time. The world rushed in a circle and turned on its axis and time was busy burning the years and the people anyway, without any help from him. So if he burnt things with the firemen and the sun burnt Time, that meant that everything burnt!"
•"There must be something in books, things we can't imagine, to make a woman stay in a burning house; there must be something there. You don't stay for nothing."
"My love for Linton is like the foliage in the woods. Time will change it, I'm well aware, as winter changes the trees - my love for Heathcliff resembles the eternal rocks beneath - a source of little visible delight, but necessary."
`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"
He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought --
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.
And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!
One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.
"And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
He chortled in his joy.
`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
    "She was illusive. She was today. She was tomorrow. She was the faintest scent of a cactus flower, the flitting shadow of an elf owl. We did not know what to make of her. In our minds we tried to pin her to a corkboard like a butterfly, but the pin merely went through and away she flew."
"In that moonlit hours, I acquired a sense of the otherness of things. I liked the feeling the moonlight gave me, as if it wasn't the opposite of day, but its underside, its private side, when the fabulous purred on my snow-white sheet like some dark cat come in from the desert."
White: Paper money is bigger than metal money. Nine comes after eight. And Spring comes after winter, right, Black? Is that right? Black, when the sky turns black why do I feel so blue?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
White: Hey, Black, nighttime is sad. Guess it's because the dark makes me think about dying.
Black: Don't worry, White. Nobody will ever break us apart.
Peter: Forget them, Wendy. Forget them all. Come with me where you'll never, never have to worry about grown up things again.
Wendy: Never is an awfully long time.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hook: And now, Peter Pan, you shall die.
Peter: To die would be an awfully big adventure.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Michael: Mother, can anything harm us after the night lights are lit?
Mrs. Darling: No, Precious. They are the eyes a mother leaves behind to guard her children.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mrs. Darling: There are many different kinds of bravery. There's the bravery of thinking of others before one's self. Now, your father has never brandished a sword nor fired a pistol, thank heavens. But he has made many sacrifices for his family, and put away many dreams.
Michael: Where did he put them?
Mrs. Darling: He put them in a drawer. And sometimes, late at night, we take them out and admire them. But it gets harder and harder to close the drawer... He does. And that is why he is brave.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Story Narrator: But I was never to see Peter Pan again. Now I tell his story to my children and they will tell it to their children, and so it will go on - for all children grow up... Except one.

    "The winter was chilling, dreary, but somehow comforting and important to the two men in ways most people would rarely consider or even remotely reflect on (assuming the feeble minds could attempt). It was the freezing cold that provided them this comfort. An enchanting numbness that allowed any living creature on this particular planet in this galaxy to be as near to death as one could ever possibly experience without actually being dead."
- January Ninth is Nift
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I don't believe in second chances. I believe in doing the right thing. If you do something that feels right, then that's how you roll. If you get that tug that you're doing wrong, whether it be a feeling or you see the contorted expression of hurt on someone's face, then you need to do right and try to better it. Nobody is born a good person, it's something we learn how to be, and like any learning, it takes practice and it takes mistakes. You take the consequences and learn from them, and for everything you learn, the more you'll become. If you take ALL the things that have ever hurt you and dig just enough for that small piece of gold in the middle of every chunk of dirt, you'll realize what a wealthy man you really are. When you think of it that way, your mistakes ARE your second chance, it's just your choice to do something with it, to make you better, or to make the world around you better.
David: I don't want to bring another kid into this world. But how do you argue against loving one that's already here?
- Martian Child
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
David: Sometimes we forget that children have just arrived on the earth. They are a little like aliens, coming into beings as bundles of energy and pure potential, here on some exploratory mission and they are just trying to learn what it means to be human. For some reason Dennis and I reached out into the universe and found each other, Never really know how or why. And discovered that I can love an alien and he can love a creature. And thats weird enough for both of us.
-Martian Child
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
David: Dennis, can I just say one last thing about Mars? - which may be strange coming from a Science-Fiction writer - But right now, you and me here, put together entirely of atoms, sitting on this round rock with a core of liquid iron, held down by this force that seems to trouble you, called gravity, all the while spinning around the sun at 67,000 miles an hour and whizzing through the milkyway at 600,000 miles an hour in a universe that very well may be chasing its own tail at the speed of light; And admist all this frantic activity, fully cognisant of our own eminent demise - which is our own pretty way of saying we all know we're gonna die - We reach out to one another. Sometimes for the sake of entity, sometimes for reasons you're not old enough to understand yet, but a lot of the time we just reach out and expect nothing in return. Isn't that strange? Isn't that weird? Isn't that weird enough? The heck do ya need to be from Mars for?
-Martian Child
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
David: I know. See, everybody says, "Don't be hysterical." But I say, "Why not be hysterical?" Hysterical is the new calm. My wife dies, boom! I go out and I adopt a kid from Neptune. Should I just chill, or should I be hysterical? You tell me. I think hysteria is a way of life. It's a clothing line at least.
hat’s not wrong… you fought to protect your world. Isn’t that good enough? No one really thinks of others, you will lose everything if you can’t keep up. After all, justice in this world is just a bunch of principles made by those with power to suit themselves. Only two kinds of people exist in this world: those who steal…and those who are stolen from. So then, today I just stole your future.That's all.
If it's your wish, I will follow you everywhere
even if your throne crumbles, and your shiny crown truns to rust
even if the bodies pile up endlessly, above the bottomless pile corpses
Beside you as you lie softly down, I will be
until I hear the words "Check Mate" !
James Sunderland: I was weak. That's why I needed you... needed someone to punish me for my sins... but that's all over now... I know the truth. Now it's time to end this.
Eddie: He always busted my balls. "You fat, disgusting piece of shit! You make me sick! Fat-ass, yer nothin' but a waste of skin! You're so ugly, even your mama don't love you!" Well maybe he was right. Maybe I am nothing but a fat disgusting piece of shit. But ya know what? It doesn't matter if you're smart, dumb, ugly, pretty... it's all the same once yer dead... and a corpse can't laugh. From now on, if anyone makes fun of me... I'll kill 'em. Just like that.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Heather: I don't know what kind of hell is waiting for me there, but I've got no other choice. I don't care about God or Paradise... If that's what she believes in then fine. But she won't get away with what she did. When I find her, I'll kill her myself.
Douglas: Revenge doesn't solve anything.
Heather: Maybe not, but that's what I'm going to do.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Heather: You know, you might die too.
Douglas: That's fine. No one's going to cry over my grave anyway.
Have you ever seen hundreds of frightened people standing in line to be killed in a camp? Have you seen horseman raid and destroy a village, dance on the bodies of their victims, crushing them as they celebrated victory singing happy songs? Have you ever seen a gigantic bomb wipe away millions who had never even picked up a weapon? Civil War where a mom is hacked down in front of her child, or a child in front of his mom. And the soldier, breaking up a family who loves each other, leading them into a fire, and his eyes enjoying the torture." -Mitarai (Sea Man), Yu Yu Hakusho
