    About the Series<br />

    Portal is a first-person puzzle-platformer game released by the Valve Corporation in 2007. Players control Chell, a female protagonist who is required to do a series of elaborate and tricky tests in Aperture Science/Aperture Fixtures which was founded in the early 1940s by a character named Cave Johnson. Experiencing kidney failure, Cave Johnson had a artificial intelligence software created so if he would die, his personality could be uploaded into the A.I. in the hopes that Aperture would continue to thrive. However, Cave did not live to see the completion of the A.I., so his partner, Caroline took his place. Caroline ultimately became GLaDOS(Genetic Lifeform and Disk Operating System), a self-aware and homicidal form of A.I. who released a deadly neurotoxin on Aperture's first annual 'Bring your Daughter to work Day', as a result, many of the scientists died, and the facility was forced into lock down and placed into a permanent testing cycle by GLaDOS herself. <br />
