"Books may look like nothing more than words on a page, but they are actually an infinitely complex imaginotransference technology that translates odd, inky squiggles in to pictures inside your head."
- Akrid Snell from The Well of Lost Plots by Jasper Fforde

"The sun burnt every day. It burnt Time. The world rushed in a circle and turned on its axis and time was busy burning the years and the people anyway, without any help from him. So if he brunt things with the firemen and the sun burnt Time, that meant that everything burnt!"
- Guy Montag from Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

" 'Stuff your eyes with wonder,' he said, 'live as if you'd drop dead in ten seconds. See the world. It's more fantastic than any dream made or paid for in factories. Ask no guarantees, ask for no security, there never was such an animal. And if there were, it would be related to the great sloth which hangs upside down in all day every day, sleeping its life away. To hell with that,' he said, 'shake the tree and knock the great sloth down on his ass.' "
- Granger quoting his Grandfather from Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

    The Base of All Metaphysics
By Walt Whitman

And now gentlemen,
A word I give to remain in your memories and minds,
As base and finale too for all metaphysics.

(So to the students the old professor,
At the close of his crowded course.)

Having studied the new and antique, the Greek and Germanic systems,
Kant having studied and stated, Fichte and Schelling and Hegel,
Stated the lore of Plato, and Socrates greater than Plato,
And greater than Socrates sought and stated, Christ divine having
studied long,
I see reminiscent to-day those Greek and Germanic systems,
See the philosophies all, Christian churches and tenets see,
Yet underneath Socrates clearly see, and underneath Christ the divine I see,
The dear love of man for his comrade, the attraction of friend to friend,
Of the well-married husband and wife, of children and parents,
Of city for city and land for land.

Me

Hello. My name is Lumiere. Not really but hey. Not many of you have a chance of learning my real name. So yeah, my name is Lumiere for all of those who already may know my name and all of you who have no chance of learning it.

I used play trombone in both symphonic and marching band at my school. I'm also on my school's Science Olympiad team although some people may not know what that is. Not all schools compete. I hope to be able to join my school's writing club next year with one of my best friends. I also take Spanish in school. I want to be fluent in as many languages as I possibly can including Spanish, Turkish, German, and Gaelic.

I draw. I draw a lot. Though when ever I draw people, I draw guys pretty well but my girls just look like crap. Ah well, I'll learn sooner or later.

I also write poetry. Yes, sounds like a really girly thing to do even though I'm kinda tomboyish but hey, I think I'm actually pretty good. Maybe not, 'Greatest Writer in the World' title worthy but I actually got a poem published in 8th grade in a book called A Celebration of Young Poets called "A Man Representing Men". Kinda cool. I know. I've been working on a story called "License to Be." It tells the story of two brothers, Septimus and Landen, over the period between one and two years. They live in a small English town with a single and abusive father.

I also like to read. Actually I love reading. I'm a bookworm. I read the whole Twilight series in a week. Yeah. No joke. My sister beats me though. She read the 5th Harry Potter book in a day. I mostly prefer fantasy but I also love romance stories, especially Pride and Prejudice (still trying to get through that book)and Jane Eyre. So if you got any good books you think I might like, leave me a profile comment. It doesn't matter what reading level it is. I'll take the challenge.

My real life friends and my online friends Snowy, Neko, and Nara are probably some of the most important people to me. Seriously no joke. Put me and my friends in a room together and we will go like, crazy together. Especially me and Lumiere de Couer. We're like, an explosion of hyper when we're together. Scares some people and amuses others.

I like things like fantasy wise. Dragons and fairies and magic and things like that. I like alternative rock music, ska, and some of the odds and ends my sister listens to. I don't even know the genres. I also occasionally listen to classical music but that's usually only when I want to burn my math book. I love mangoes, random, yeah, but they're my favorite fruit. My favorite color is currently green. I'm totally excited about Grey's Anatomy right now. It's like, one of my favorite shows. My favorite movie is Pride and Prejudice and it's currently impossible for me to pick my favorite book. My favorite animals are lemurs. So cute. I like people who are nice and don't act like total retarded assholes like some of the kids in my class who interrupt every ten seconds. I enjoy abstract art the most and math when it makes sense to me. I also like science, when I don't have some psycho teacher, and english. Love Sour Patch. You can never go wrong when you have 7 extreme sour patch kids stuffed in your mouth. Oh! And I love my lunch period. Some of the things we talk about. We got on the topic of drag queens one day and my best friend and I got in this whole debate on if it's acceptable or not. Although he totally twisted my words from it being just plain acceptable or if it's acceptable to walk around dressed in drag. Totally made me angry when I realized he did that. That also reminds me, I'm all for gay rights. I mean, they're people too and just because they found true love in somebody of the same sex, doesn't means they shouldn't have equal rights. I say let them get married.

I hate the assholes in class who act like total retards to interrupt class and make the stupid teacher stop and threaten to send them down to the office, in effect, disrupting my learning process along with the learning process of every other student in the room actually hoping to get a decent education. I also greatly dislike it when teachers threaten to send a kid to the office on like a daily basis, never do it, and in effect diminish the power of threat until it means nothing and then the teacher stops class to make a pointless threat when the student is just gonna do what they were doing again in like, 5 minutes. It's stupid. I greatly dislike clowns... they're creepy. Oh, and possums. Found one in my garbage can one time, almost dumped a garbage bag on it, happened to look in the garbage can before doing so, saw the possum with it's beady little eyes snarling at me with it's sharp teeth, dropped the bag, and ran in the house screaming. ...I don't actually dislike that many things. I mean, I don't like mustard and I can't drink any form of smoothie that's purple but who really cares about that. I don't think anybody actually cares about my possum story.

So, I'm done. If you actually read this thing, I'm gonna say wow. You kinda win. I don't know what you win though but if you ask, I'm just gonna tell you that you win a magical pony of wonder. That's what I tell everybody else.
Charcoal Shades of Gray by Debra Gundy

Thin ray of light, parted curtains,
slight illumination within,
he sits.

Age spots rest upon head and hands,
thinning hair mostly white and gray,
alone.

Bible aside, devotions done,
quietly repeating the verse
he loves.

By the fire, age worn bones warm,
reminiscing through past echo's,
of life.

Deep furrows darkening the brow,
darkness below moist eyes of gray,
long lost.

The scope within reality,
charcoal shades of gray forever,
long past.

~~~~~~~*~~~~~~~
The artist's sketch in charcoal shades,
depict a man of many years,
hard times.
Is this man's reality through
the scope within the artist's mind,
or not?
Lyrics of the whenever I feel like changing them
Turning Home by David Nail
Usually take one last pass through town
Stop the car and touch the ground
Watch those streetlights swayin’ in the breeze
Decorated store fronts
Rusty old gas pumps
Try to fill my mind up
With somethin’ before I go
Picture postcard memories
You know they always make for good company
I don’t know no town
Like the old town
Even when the miles are many
I feel like I’m still around
Deep inside me
Like rings through an oak tree
Yeah, there something ‘bout a Sunday when I’m gone
That keeps me turning home
I’m standin’ here beneath these billboard lights
Takes me back to those autumn nights
Hometown bleachers packed real tight
As we marched down the field
My feet would swing from a dropped tailgate
Out on Airport Road real late
No one could walk a line too straight
We usually made it home alright
And glory days I cant re-live
Stories I’ll never forget
And I don’t know no friends
Like the old friends
I never seem to laugh now
Like I did with them
But deep inside me
A piece of history
Yeah, I hear their voices even though they’re gone
And it keeps me turning home
Never twice the same way does it start
And sure enough she stole my heart
On the old gym floor, spinnin’ round and round one night
And though we both tried hard to wait
We sure did love the taste
Of the sweet love being made and prayin’ I got it right
Graduation came and went
Along with all the time we spent
And I don’t know no love
Like the first love
When I think about the best times
She’s the one I think of
Deep inside me
All though the taste is bittersweet
I see her smilin’ even though she’s gone
And it keeps me turning home, yeah
And it keeps me turning home
Can we pretend that Airplanes
In the night sky
Are like shooting stars?
I could really use a wish right now,
Wish right now,
Wish right now.
