• Artist Info: Fimbrethil was the wife of Treebeard. The Ents liked to let things take their natural course, but the Entwives were interested in agriculture, berries and edible plants. The Entwives, unlike the Ents, interacted with the race of Men and taught them much about the art of agriculture. The Entwives began to move farther away from the Ents, away from the wild forest to across the Great River Anduin, although the male Ents still visited them for a time.

The Entwives lived in peace until their gardens were destroyed by Sauron during the Second Age, and they themselves disappeared. The Ents looked for them but never found them.

Many other races wrote tragic songs about the loss of the Entwives and the remaining Ents' sad search for them; the Elves made many songs about it, one of which Treebeard recited to Merry and Pippin.

Treebeard said that the Ents made no great songs about the lost Entwives; they were content to chant their beautiful names under their breath whenever their thoughts turned back to them.
