• Artist Info: Hello everyone. My names Sara. I'm twenty nine years old, I'm an artist, military wife, and mother to a four year old and a seven month old. I often get asked for avi art which I do on occasion, when my muse isn't hiding from me. The thing about my muse is that you must understand is, the damnable creature lives in my head. Sometimes she's there, sometimes she's hiding. She not only prompts me to draw, but she inspires me to collect things.
Sometimes the little witch is pushing me to buy overpriced props from antique malls that I might add, are literally thread and bones! Or I find myself purchasing herbs I cannot pronounce or collecting odd bottles of unknown origin. Everything in one corner of my art studio should be labeled like Wonderland except it should all read "Do not eat!" or Do not drink!"
She's a complex entity, and at first all I really caught of her were light and shadows in my peripheral. Occasionally purple eyes would glare at me from a face that was skull like in the lighting.
So sometimes, trying to "get her out" and show her through drawings and such has been a challenge. For the most part, I'm dead on and I can feel her swell with pride when I'm looking at "the drawing". Other times, I feel I'm still "sketching", searching for that angle.
So I experiment, I mess around with different looks for her, try different styles while all the time trying to stay true to her darker core.
I tend to live in a way the rest of the world has forgotten. I'm rarely ever in a hurry and I do things the slow way. I'll spend my day sitting under a tree and sketch with my kiddo playing nearby , I'll make my meals from scratch rather than to go and buy it from a box. I'm not fond of the city life with its business and rush here and there. Let me loose in the country or near the ocean and I'll be content.
Saying that, I'd have to say my favorite quote would be "Do not fear death, but rather the unlived life." You don't have to live forever. You just have to live.

A WISE woman once said...There comes a time in life, when you walk away from all the drama and people who create it. Surround yourself with people who make you laugh. Forget the bad, and focus on the good. Love the people who treat you right, pray for the ones who don't. Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is a part of LIFE, getting back up is LIVING~
I've lived in Germany for 6 years of my life, and I've traveled all over Europe and the United States. I'm now living in El Paso Texas aka Hell Paso. Lots of sand and plenty of heat. To include sandstorms. Its not my favorite place to live but I guess being the military brat/wife you don't have much of a choice, but I think my favorite would be Germany. I loved to travel from country to country at a whim.
As I said, I grew up all over the place, but I call Wisconsin my home. Its where my family lives and is where I was born.
About My Screen Name

Why I chose the name Psychopompic Rabbits

Certain otherworldly beings have the function of guiding human souls and are known as psychopomps. In many cultures, rabbits and hares are mythological trickster figures. Mischievous and cunning, they are associated with the moon and female fecundity. They are often portrayed at the feet of Aphrodite, goddess of love; or in the medieval period, scampering at the hem of a virgin Mary's dress. So what better creature to serve as a psychopomp, leading Alice down the rabbit hole into the world of Wonderland?

What the dictionary says about Psychopomps:

Psychopompic literally meaning the "guide of souls" ) are creatures, spirits, angels, or deities in many religions whose responsibility is to escort newly-deceased souls to the afterlife. Their role is not to judge the deceased, but simply provide safe passage. Frequently depicted on funerary art, psychopomps have been associated at different times and in different cultures with horses, whippoorwills, ravens, dogs, crows, owls, sparrows, cuckoos, rabbits and harts.

In Jungian psychology, the psychopomp is a mediator between the unconscious and conscious realms. It is symbolically personified in dreams as a wise man (or woman), or sometimes as a helpful animal.
