Deep in the woods is an abandoned wood cabin. They say that no one lives there and hasn’t for centuries. Now, the story goes that there was once a family living there. The parents had both fallen ill and died leaving their oldest son and only daughter as the residence. Their names were Cree and Stanley. Cree was only six years old when their parents left. Stanley noticed strange behavior changes in his sister after their parents died. She became clingy and never wanted to be alone. She said things like, “It’s coming for me,” or “its here.”
Stanley assumed she just wanted attention and thought nothing of it. However, it got worse as time went on. She would go into fits of random babble, talk of the devil, and even convulse at random. It got to the point where he couldn’t leave the house without her screaming in fear.
So one night he snuck out to go get a drink with a couple of his friends at the pub. While he was gone Cree had another fit. This time when she called for her brother’s help he didn’t come. He had fallen asleep, drunk at his barstool. Cree began to hear the voices she heard the day her parents died. Terrified she screamed the entire night left alone in the cabin. When Stanley returned the following day the cabin interior was in ruin, and Cree was barricaded in her room.
Cree looked at him with eyes of hate and whispered in an eerie voice, “you didn’t come…” Stanley looked at her uneasy and hoping to break the silence he asked her, “What do you want Cree? I’ll give you anything.”
Cree looked at him with tears, “Stay. So when they come again I won’t be scared and alone!” Stanley nodded and stroked her hair until she fell asleep. It was now he realized something was wrong. So he left again, this time to the village church to see a priest and ask for an exorcism. The priest agreed and Stanley headed home.
When he got there Cree was at the door, unlike before he could feel it in the air. Something was wrong as she approached him.
The priest came and knocked on the door, “Is anyone there?” The door slowly creaked open. Cree was in the middle of the room and Stanley was no where in sight. “Where might your brother be?”
Cree looked up and smiled as chill ran down the priest’s spine. “He’s right here. He promised he’d stay with me. See, he gave me a gift.” What she held up made the priest gag in disgust. Cree was holding her brother’s severed head. “Now, we will always be together and he can never leave.” Cree started laughing as the priest realized that she was beyond saving. He ran out of the house and declared the woods as Devil’s Terrain. To this day you can hear Cree singing to her brother’s severed head.
