• Gun shot's blazed all around, a stream of Red ran freely from a new injury in his back and yet none of that mattered to Kain, nothing mattered except for the freedom that lay ahead, and the man who lay in his arms.

Footsteps fell heavy against frozen snow, making Kain stumble every few steps, but he didn't stop running.

A bullet whizzed into his right shoulder, but he didn't keep running, and still held the other. He wasn't going to stop this time, he wasn't going to go back, he wasn't going to make Rem die in a place like that.

His seemingly mad run continued far longer than any normal man would have simply given up, even when the bullet's stopped and his perusers fell behind he kept on running, even when they were free of the flood lights of that damn facility, and bathed only in moon and starlight. Kain just kept running.

What finally brought him to a stop, was not a bullet, not a guard come to bring the two of them back, but a simple word.

"Kain.." The one in his arms murmured weakly, Kain immediately halted and looked down at him, he looked worse than when he'd been in the facility, he had to help him, yet it was impossible. The only town within miles was probably already on the look out for two runaways, and he didn't know a thing about the kind of medical help Rem would need. He was helpless to do anything for him.

"W-we're far enough away, you can put me down." The other murmured again and Slowly Kain nodded and knelled to the ground, resting the other in the freshly fallen snow and smiling weakly.

"We did it Rem, we're finally free. Now we can live together and be happy, we'll never have to go back..." Kain murmured, dawning a fake smile, as he allowed Rem's head to rest on his lap. "Everything is going to be find now, your finally free."

Kain tried his hardest not to wince, as a few weak coughs left Rem, instead, he merely used his hand to wipe away the blood that had gathered on the other's lips. He didn't want to admit it, but he didn't beleive a word of what he said, they would not live happily ever, after what those bastards had done to Rem, it simply wasn't possible.

Rem was going to die. And Both of them new it. Absent of his own will, a few tears slid down Kain's pale face.

"...You know.." Rem murmured after a few long moments, "I've never seen the stars before, I heard about them, but I never actually got to see them. They're beautiful." While he spoke, he lifted his hand and used his thumb to wipe away a few of Kain's tears, smiling weakly as Kain dawned another false smile.

"Yeah, they are beautiful aren't they?"

Rem nodded, and for perhaps the first time in his life he was happy, without fear that happiness would be taken away from him, without wondering how long it would last.

This joy would last him the rest of his life.

    "Kain.... I love you."

"I love you to rem" Kain stammered, no longer bothering to hold the tears that covered his face, Rem only smiled.

    "I'm glad."

A pale snow began to fall, light snowflake's dotting Rem's face, and melting on his skin. Rem didn't react, instead his hand fell back into the snow.

Kain slowly reached over and shut Rem's eyes, letting the light snow begin to bury the few of them.

    Kain shut his eyes.

And Prayed that he would never open them again.
