• Megan collapsed into bed. She had spent the last few weeks unpacking everything and going to pracitces with Jason. "I really need to start getting more sleep. Ashley will be here next week."

She rubbed her eyes and got up. She needed to make sure Jason had remembered to get passes for Ashley and Nolan for the show next Friday. Carefully feeling the way, she made her way to the living room. All the lights were off, and Megan guessed that Jason had gone to bed. She started back down the hallway, suddenly running into Jason. "Ouch." she said as she tumbled backwards.

"Sorry. What are you doing walking around in the dark?" Jason asked, reaching for the light switch on the wall. Light suddenly bathed the hall, making both of them shield their eyes with their hands.

"I was coming to ask you if you had remembered to get the backstage passes." Megan said as Jason helped her up.

"What a coincidence. I was just coming to ask you if Alexa was coming with Nolan."

"Oh, well, Ashley is coming instead of Alexa."

"Why isn't Alexa coming? I wanna see my brother's girl. Ashley can come too. All you had to do was ask."

Megan looked up excitedly. "You really mean it? They can both come see me?"

Jason smiled down at her. "Of course. Anything for my precious angel."

Megan threw her arms around his neck and kissed him, turning red when she realized what she did. Jason held her close to himself and kissed her back, to both of their enjoyment. "I've got a surprise for you next Friday. You'll love it. I just know it." Jason whispered in her ear.

"There's no point in me trying to get it out of you. I'll just have to wait, won't I?"

"Yes, you will my dear." He lifted her head up and looked at her. "You look tired. Have you been sleeping well?"

Megan shook her head. "I have. It's just I haven't gotten much sleep lately. I've been staying up late trying to finish some of the work I'm being sent from home. Luckily, school is over next month."

Jason suddenly stopped smiling. "Next month? Aren't you going to need to go back for graduation and stuff?"

"Yeah, I will. Why do you ask?"

Jason walked over and sat on the couch. "We start touring next month. If you're gone, Katelyn has to take your place. She'd then be the lead back-up singer. All your glory would go to her. I don't want that, but I also don't want you to miss your graduation. What are we going to do?"

Megan went and sat beside him. He pulled her next to him and looked at her with an expression of worry. "We'll think of something. The graduation should be early Friday morning on the day it's scheduled for. Maybe I can get back to wherever we are in time for the show. It might be a close call, but maybe I can make it. I don't want Katelyn to get my glory. She'll try to keep it all, then accuse me of being an imposter."

Jason laughed. "You're so silly. But don't worry, I"ll think of something. I don't want Katelyn to get your glory anymore than you do." Megan yawned and snuggled closer to Jason. "Baby, why don't you go on to bed? You need your sleep."

Megan shook her head in protest. "No, I'm okay."

Jason stood up, then picked her up an dcarried her to her room. "Come on. You're going to bed." Megan began to protest, but Jason silenced her. "I don't want to hear it. You need your rest. I"m not leaving you alone till you're asleep. And I mean it." He laid her down on the bed, then laid down beside her.

"Fine. I could use the sleep anyway." Megan said, just before yawning. She pulled back the covers and covered herself up.

"Jason?" she whispered, just before falling asleep.

"Hmm?" Jason said, half asleep himself. He refused to let himself go to sleep before he was back in his own bed. He didn't need people getting ideas after what happened with Alyssa.

"I think...I think I love you." Megan whispered softly. Jason looked at her and smiled.

"I think I love you too, Megan." He said, just before kissing her softly. He laid back down beside her, and watched as she fell asleep beside him.

"She's so beautiful," he thought to himself as he quietly made his way to his own room. He looked over at the picture of Megan and himself that was sitting on his desk. They had gone to a dinner party with John and Amelia. Jason had worn the shirt that Megan had deemed as her favorite, "because it brings out your blue eyes." Megan was wearing a perfectly fitting pink dress that showed off her curves. Jason crawled into bed and thought about how lonely it was by oneself. He drifted off to sleep, thinking of the plans he had for Friday night. Tomorrow was their three month anniversary, but Megan's gift would have to wait till Friday.

    -------------------------------------------

"Good morning, sleeping beauty. Rise and shine! It's a wonderful day." Jason said cheerfully as he woke Megan up.

"Jason, what has kidnapped you? Did you get taken by aliens again?" Jason grabbed a pillow and hit her with it. She took another one and hit him back. "Take that you evil aliens! You can't take my boyfriend away and get away with it." Jason pushed her down, then started tickling her. "Nooooo, stop! I'm ticklish!!" Megan yelled amid giggles.

"All the more reason to tickle you my dear. And Happy Monthiversary!"

"Happy monthiversary to you, too. But how does this qualify as a present?" Megan said, laughing more as Jason continued tickling her.

"It doesn't. You can get your present on Friday night. Until then, what do you say we just stay here and be lazy. Then later tonight, we'll go out for dinner. Just the two of us. Wherever you want."

Megan thought about what he said. "Just the two of us?"

Jason laughed. "Yes, just the two of us. We won't have much 'us' time in the upcoming months. We'll be on the road with the band."

Megan smiled. "Okay, then we can be lazy today."She got out of the bed and walked into the kitchen. “What do you want for breakfast?”

Jason looked thoughtfully about the kitchen. “How about some pancakes. You haven’t made them in forever. And I really like them.”

“Last time I made pancakes, you made me spill batter all over myself. You do that this time, and I’ll never make pancakes for you again. Understood?” Megan said, turning to get the pancake batter from the pantry so that he didn’t see that she wanted to laugh. Jason just sat down and stared at her as she mixed the batter together.

“Would you stop that? It’s making me want to laugh.”

“Stop what?” Jason asked innocently. He looked up at the ceiling and whistled to himself. Sneaking a glance at Megan, he saw that she was trying her best not to laugh. Slowly, he returned back to staring at her. She poured the batter onto a griddle, then placed the bowl on the counter. Grabbing a clean spatula, she walked around to the other side where Jason was sitting and tapped him on the shoulder with it.

“Ouch. That hurt.” Jason said, giving Megan a pout.

She just rolled her eyes and went back to cooking the pancakes. “That’s what you get for staring at me. I really think you were abducted by aliens. Now, here’s your pancakes.” She placed the freshly finished pancakes on a plate, and set them in front of Jason.

Fixing a plate for herself, she went and sat beside him. “These are really good. I’m glad someone that’s going on tour with me knows how to cook. Now it won’t always be fast food and restaurants.” With that, they finished breakfast and started their day of being lazy.

    -------------------------------

Friday finally arrived. Megan and Jason were waiting at the airport for Ashley, Alexa, and Nolan. They were sitting on a small bench, just beside the gate the others were expected to disembark at. “So, have you told your friends about us, yet?” Jason asked Megan when no one was close enough to hear.

“Well, kinda. But, not really. I’ve hinted at it, but haven’t said it right out. So, I guess they’re still in the dark. I haven’t been told that they’ve figured it out. Who knows.” Megan didn’t mention that she had accidentally told Nolan.

“Well, then they’ll be surprised when they find out.”

A young woman from the desk walked over. “Mr. Rogers, your jet just landed. Your guests should be disembarking shortly. Sorry for the delay. They had to wait for clearing.”

“Thank you for the info.” Jason said politely.

The young woman returned to the desk, just as a big, black jet came up to the gate. “You never told me you had a jet!” Megan said, trying not to squeal.

“Well, I wanted you to be surprised. Kept it a secret. But, shhh. Katelyn doesn’t know. And I don’t want her to.” At that moment, Ashley appeared. Megan jumped up and ran to her.

“Ashley! I can’t believe you’re finally here. Oh, I’ve missed you.” She hugged Ashley, then wiped away a stray tear.

“It’s just not the same without you, Megan.” Ashley hugged Megan, then moved aside.

Alexa and Nolan walked out, holding hands and smiling at each other. Megan walked over and gave Alexa a hug. “We’ve missed you, Megan. Without you around, I’ve had to turn my talents towards Abby. It’s just not working.” She backed away from Megan and looked her over. “Wow, look at you. You’ve changed. You’re actually wearing make-up now, without my forcing you. And look at the clothes. You’re doing good. Can’t wait to see the room. Gosh, it’s so good to see you again.”

The headed towards the car, Megan wondering if they knew about Jason and herself yet. She looked over at Jason and smiled. “I love you.” she mouthed silently.

“I love you too.” he mouthed back. They piled into the car and headed back to the apartment.

Megan watched the reactions of Ashley and Alexa when they saw the apartment building. “Just wait till you see the inside. You’ll die. I thought I would.”

While Jason and Nolan were getting the bags from the trunk, Megan took Ashley and Alexa upstairs to the apartment. She opened the door and they walked inside. Ashley gasped, and Alexa stopped dead in her tracks. “Wow!” they said in unison. They had to go around and look at everything, then Alexa turned to Megan. “Where’s your room?” Megan smiled and opened the door to her room. Ashley and Alexa squealed.

“Oh my gosh, Meg. It’s so awesome And look, you’ve got pictures of us up.” Ashley said, walked around the room and looking at all the pictures.

“Look, it’s the one from your party. You look a lot older now. We all do.” Alexa said, sitting down on the futon couch. Ashley and Megan joined her. Ashley and Alexa tried filling Megan in on everything back home. They told her that Madison had taken Katelyn’s place as “queen of the school”, and that Katie had finally gotten a boyfriend.

“Of course, it’s only Harrison, but it’s better than no one.” Ashley said. They all laughed. Over the next few hours, Megan realized just how much she missed having her friends around. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.

“Megan, are you ready to go? We’ve still got to get ready when we get there.” Jason said, opening the door to find Megan laying on the bed with Ashley and Alexa.

She jumped up when she saw and heard Jason.“Of course. I can’t wait to finally be in a show. I’m really excited. Ashley? Alexa? Are yall ready to go?” The other two girls smiled and nodded their heads. Megan checked to make sure her outfit wasn’t in her closet. She intended to wear her new jeans and a halter top that Alexa had sent her for her birthday. Her shoes looked like a sneaker that was a ballet flat, but they had a wedge heel. Jason was with her when she bought them.

When Megan determined that she had sent her clothes ahead with Jason’s, she grabbed her cell phone, sliding it into her pocket. Ashley, Alexa, and Nolan had already headed towards the car. “Ready to go show the world how great you are?” Jason said, smiling broadly. He was standing by the door, obviously waiting for Megan.

“You’re the one everyone will be watching. You’re in center stage. I’m nowhere near where everyone will be watching. But, I’m still ready. Kinda nervous though.” She walked into Jason’s arms and welcomed the hug and kiss he gave her. “You’ll see. I’ve got a big surprise for you tonight. All because I love you. You’re my girl.” With that, they joined the others and headed towards the show.

    --------------------------------

“Get ready, everyone. We’re on in five minutes.” Jason called, getting everyone together. Katelyn was hanging onto Rick’s arm, laughing at stupid jakes or occasionally kissing him. Megan was just checking her make-up when she heard Katelyn behind her.

“Looks like I’m guaranteed a spot on tour. Rick wouldn’t leave me behind. He enjoys my company. I make him very happy. But look at you. No guarantees. Poor you.” She laughed evilly and walked off. Jason walked into the dressing room.

“You look wonderful. Now, when we get on stage, you’ll notice a microphone beside where I am to be. That’s where you shall stand. And Katelyn might be on stage, but her mic will be off. You’re going to show the world how great you are. Let’s go show ‘em.” Jason grabbed her hand and pulled her towards the stage. He dropped her hand and walked onto stage, followed by the drummer and other guitarists. Katelyn was standing on the opposite side of the stage, waiting for the signal that would tell Megan and herself to walk onstage.

Megan looked at Jason closely. There it was! The odd little movement that only a musician would know should be part of getting ready. Megan walked out onto the stage, going straight to the center, beside Jason. Katelyn was shocked, but the song had started and there was no time to pay her any attention. Megan stood there, beside the man she loved, singing her best.

The songs ended and the only thing left was an encore. Megan and Katelyn were to stay backstage for this one. Only Jason and the band knew the song. “Megan, I want you stand here. I might need you to come on stage again.” Jason said, just before hurrying back on stage. Megan did as she was told, and noticed Katelyn behind her. Then she heard Jason talking to the audience.

“Everyone, this song is for all the love birds out there tonight. My brother and his girl, it’s for them as well. But I want to dedicate this song to one very special person. My girlfriend, who I love, Megan.” He turned to where Megan stood and opened his arms wide, showing her to come to him. She walked across the stage, holding back tears as the song started. She saw that just below the stage, on the very front row, that Nolan had apparently just kissed Alexa. Alexa had turned slightly red, and was smiling happily.

When the song ended, Nolan and Alexa moved towards the backstage entrance. Jason laid his guitar down and then pulled Megan to himself. Then, right there on stage, in front of everyone, he kissed her. Softly at first, then more passionately. Amid thunderous applause, they walked off stage to even more applause backstage.

Ashley ran up to Megan the moment she saw her. “Megan, I can’t believe you didn’t tell me. How long have you two been together?”

Megan smiled and looked over at Alexa and Nolan, who were currently lip-locked. “Since those two have been together.” Ashley went off to talk to the drummer presently, leaving Megan to change and wash off excess make-up. Megan heard the clicking of heels on the tile floor, and turned around to see Katelyn.

“His girlfriend, huh? We’ll see about that. I’ll just have to take him from you. A goodie-two-shoes like you won’t give him what he wants.” Katelyn said from the doorway. She flipped her hair casually when she saw Jason coming down the hall, and left.

Jason knocked on the open door, then stepped inside, carrying a bouquet of roses. He handed them to Megan, who carefully laid them on the small round table beside her. She wrapped her arms around Jason, giving him a soft, sweet kiss. “Thank you.” she whispered in his ear.

“You’re welcome.” he whispered back. They could have stayed like that forever, but Nolan interrupted them.

“You two are acting like me and Alexa now. Come on, we’re missing the after party because of you two. Let’s get a move on. It’s not a party without the stars.” Jason looked at Megan and smiled an “I told you so” smile.

Megan laughed at him. “Come on, Mr. Rogers. We have people waiting on us. We can’t let them down.”
