• She walked through her neighborhood soup kitchen waiting for her dinner when everything went silent. She looked around and saw absolutely nothing. She had been dreaming of this since her 13th birthday, and she never understood it. She saw two long, black figures coming in through the blank. She fell to her knees as she saw her father, and a devilish looking man standing before her with a scythe. "It's okay. You have finally had enough of your poor life on Earth. You will be the next reaper of the dead and damned." He pointed to the long, black figure beside him and it handed her the scythe. "Take care of it. You'll need it for the rest of your afterlife." She took it with tears in her eyes. "Dad, what are you exactly?" She shook in her ratty clothes. "I am Satan. That's why I always disappeared and came back in the blink of an eye, that's how I never needed money, and how those murders were never solved. I'm sorry I didn't tell you, but your mother was a guardian angels sent from Heaven, and when she came to destroy me, she stayed. " She looked down and she had the old reaper gown on. "Do your duty and tend to Death and his charges." He waved his hand and shimmered away. She had no idea about anything that was going on, and she was half frozen from shock. "Are you coming?" Her father showed up once again. "How do I do it? I can't!" He shook his head in disappointment. "How have you always seemed to get around? Use your legs! Put one foot in front of the other and walk through the portal! Come on now, don't tell me the trip down melted your brains? Now move it!" Once she walked through that portal, she would never be the same girl, or Reaper for that matter again.
