• I stumbled clumsily through the large, open doors. There were small cracks in the paint that were clearly visible to my lingering eye. I adjusted the sunglasses on my nose slightly, so they weren’t dropping down the bridge.
The hallways were just as wide as the doorway leading inside of the school and I whimpered a bit. I wasn’t expecting such an audience for my first day. It was like all the eyes in the school were focused on me as I bounded through the doors. But the stares weren’t hostile or unwelcoming. They were…almost too friendly. My steps were now more fragile than normal, since I was trying not to fall over most of the time. I wasn’t exactly that clumsy, but I could have my moments. It seemed now that I was the most graceful person in the entire world, due to the looks I was receiving from my fellow students.
“Hello…?” I whispered inaudibly under my breath, as if it were to everyone. But it was only to myself.
Though, as popular as I seemed to be, people were pushed against lockers set on either side of me. Like they were trying as hard as they could to be rid of my presence, and wanting it desperately at the same time. Then I felt a hand drop down on my shoulder.
I jumped in fear and confusion, then whipped around to face what I could most easily call “my attacker”. My hand slapped across my mouth, keeping me from screaming.
