• Somebody always gets their heart stomped to the ground

This is what I see every time I look around

She watched Ashley kiss him, she watched helplessly as she planted a fake smile on her face. Stuffing her hands in her sweater pockets she bit her lower lip as the cold foggy air became visible in front of her. It made sense didn’t it? This was going to happen sometime or another. He was her brother, she was supposed to be happy for him right? Her wavy jet black hair that went a bit below her shoulder shook in the air a bit as she began walking away.

He was happy… and that was all she needed…her blue eyes began jotting all over the place to find something distracting. In the cold December air she saw many couples cuddling together whilst she was trying hard to hold herself together. Since nothing distracting seemed to pop up, she lowered her gaze down as she gazed at her white ballet styled flats.

Little did she know that her life was going to change big time after the event.

Yes indeed, Carly tended to be clueless a lot of the times.
    ----

He was shocked at the kiss, but he was even more shocked when the first thing that went through his mind was the thought of Carly rather then Ashley. Was she ok? She had been standing right there…would she be hurt? Would she even care? Of course she wouldn’t! She was his sister for Pete’s sake! He did the only thing that made sense at the moment as he circled his arms around Ashley’s waist and responded to the kiss.

A little while later though he let go of her and without another word he began heading towards the train station, he had to get back home. He was worried for Carly, she didn’t even have a jacket, she’d catch a cold and that was never good. He couldn’t stand to see her sick.

Shawn sighed as he shook his head. The walk to the train station was very short, barely five minutes; he stuffed his hands into his pockets as he headed in. He knew she would be there, he always did. She had nowhere else to go; she’d probably be trying to get home somehow. His emerald green eyes wandered around until finally they landed on the lost looking brunette who was scratching her head. He let out an annoyed sigh as he yelled.

“Oivey! Carly what are you doing?!” he exclaimed.

She jumped up as she heard the familiar voice. And she couldn’t help it as a rush of excitement ran through her entire body, she couldn’t describe in words how comfortable she felt as she once more saw those emerald green eyes. She ran over to him and grinned. He looked annoyed and mad; she bit her lower lip as she gazed down at her shoes like a little kid who had gotten caught while stealing a cookie from the kitchen.

“Carly?! How could you go off alone? You know how worried I get!” he exclaimed, she frowned and looked up.

“Sorry…but I didn’t want to ruin your moment…I thought you’d like privacy with her…” she whispered as she played with her hands.

His frown slowly turned into a gentle smile as he shook his head and rubbed her head. Shawn gently put his strong hands on her shoulders.

“Be more careful, I don’t want you getting lost or in trouble, alright?” He whispered, she nodded as she circled her arms around him.

    “I’m sorry Shawn...” she whispered.

He smiled wrapping his arms around her as he nodded and after a while he let go of her. Although he wanted to hold onto her forever, it wasn’t possible, she was his sister and she probably was giving him the sibling, brother and sister kind of a hug.

“Alright angel face we got to get home, mom’s going to worry...” he said, and she nodded in agreement.

She followed him as he walked up to his red sports car. She sat in the passenger seat besides him and smiled as she gazed out the window, not knowing that he was staring at her. None of them mentioned Ashley for the rest of the day…

    ---
She sat on her bunk bed, wearing a tank top and her pajamas. Carly was turning sixteen in September; her brother was turning Nineteen in September as well. There parents called them the two year apart twins. Both had the same birthday, September the sixth. They both shared the same room, the room had a bunk bed, she slept on top and he slept on the bottom.

Carly had always felt out of it, her mom and dad both had blond hair and only her dad had blue eyes. Her mom had emerald ones, just like Shawn.

Carly on the other hand had wavy jet black hair that went below her shoulders and sky blue eyes. Her skin was quite fair. She sighed, the door creaked open as Shawn walked in, and he ran a hand through his dirty blond hair as he smiled up at her.

“Oivey, you might want to cover up eh?” he said, she gazed down at her thin striped tank top.

“Why? I’m at home and you’re my brother, and mom and dad. It’s not as if there’s a stranger here...” she said. He rolled his eyes.

“Don’t you remember the story?” he asked as he began climbing up to her bunk, she moved away a bit so he could have some space to sit.

“Are you going to tell me a story?” she asked excitedly, she always loved Shawn’s stories. He nodded.

“You know these big perverted monsters keep an eye on you and…when the moment strikes at midnight they…” he paused for dramatic effect. She pulled her pillow close, trying to be ready for whatever was coming.

Before she knew what was happening, Shawn had tackled her and was tickling her. She laughed right out, Carly was very ticklish. She tried pushing him and between gasps she yelled.

“Shawn….s..S…stop!!’ she exclaimed, after about five minutes, he finally stopped and chuckled.

“Angel face that is why you should cover up…” he said and she frowned pulling her covers up.

“Fine, happy now?” she asked and he nodded, Shawn hugged her before climbing down and lying down in his own bunk as he turned the lights down and yawned as he began pulling the covers up.

She sighed in wonder as she leaned down a bit so she could see the lower bunk bed.

“Shawn are you asleep?” she asked

    “I was about to but...”

“Shawn how come I’m the only one in this house with jet black hair?” she pondered

“Because you’re too curious angel face…” he replied.

    “I’m serious!” she exclaimed.

“Alright I thought you had health in school but, when a man and a woman love each other they get together on the bed and then they take off their clothes and…” she cut him off with a yell.

“No! I know that part!” she exclaimed punching him lightly on the shoulder.

“Yet you’re still a virgin…” he said pondering.

“I like being a virgin!” she exclaimed and he shrugged.

“I lost it at the age of fourteen.” He replied casually. She gasped and looked over at him amazed.

“Do mom and dad know?!” she asked. He frowned.

“’Course not...” he said as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

“Now go get some sleep!” he exclaimed.

“Oh fine…hey Shawn, what were we talking ‘bout?..."
    ----

Carly woke up groggily as she yawned and got out of her covers. She gently pressed the snooze button on her alarm clock as the sunshine began creeping through the curtains. She groaned and looked down at the lower bunk, as per usual, Shawn had left early.

"Great.." she muttered as she began climbing down the steps.

After wards she headed into the washroom, brushing her teeth and doing the usual morning routine. She tied her wavy black hair into a high ponytail, it was quite easy to get lost in her hair. Her bangs fell across her sky blue eyes. Underneath her oceanic eyes, the work of the flawless eye pencil was quite clear.

Carly was not exactly what some may call a faishon wizard, hence she simply put on a blue tanktop, over which she wore Shawn's orange hoodie. It looked quite large on her, but it was comfortable and made her feel cozy. It wasn't unusual for her to be wearing Shawn's hoodie, she borrowed his clothes quite a few times...the jackets at least. Carly inhaled his scent that refused to leave the hoodie. Underneath she wore black sweat pants and puma shoes.

Carly practically fled down the stairs not even bothering to wait for breakfast as she grabbed her bagpack off the hook and stretched. She opened the door of their house and was not surprised to see rain.

    "Oh well.." she mumbled

And sure enough there was Shawn with his arm encircled around Ashley's waist as she walked off to school. It was the usual routine...she was used to secretly getting her heart broken. Carly lowered her gaze as she slowly walked out.

I never thought this would happen to me

I never thought I'd end up this way..
