• I backed up against the wall as the door gave a sickly crack. An ice-cold chill ran down my spine. I gripped my at in my sweaty palms and raised it slowly. The door suddenly gave way and I struck the beast across the chest as it ran through the shattered remains of the door.
The beast fell to the ground with a roar of agony. With the last of its strength, it reached for me as I put it out of it's misery. I released my grip on the makeshift weapon and limped out of the shed clutching my side as I made my way to the front of the house where my family had perished.
I turned to the building for a final look and came face-to-face with the beast's pregnant mate.
It was the last sight I ever saw.
