• she always cried, if not in the morning, at night. you see this really is a tragic story. this poor lonely mother lost her only child just 5 years ago today. im here to tell u the story.
about 5 years ago today, Mrs. Beam came home to find her 5 year old daughter on her bedroom floor. no one knew what happened to her. she was pronounced dead. her mother couldn't believe it. she was the only thing left in the world that she had cared about. now she was gone. she was a spitting image of her father. black hair and cerulean blue eyes, fair skin, and a smile that lit up the world at night. but now she was gone.
today she decided that she needed more milk, and a good walk. she walked down to the market. it was just on the corner of hyde ave and waterman st. she bought some milk and decided to spoil herself, so she bought some ben and jerry's vanilla ice cream. she paid for it then silently walked out the door.
as she walked down the cobbled road, she hummed a soft tune to herself, looking down at her feet. then suddenly looking up, realized she didn't know where she was. then she got scared. doing what she used to do when she needed help, she called for her daughter "Karoline? I need u honey." then remembered that Karoline was gone. she thought she felt something brush her shoulder. "must have been a leaf" she thought to herself but then turned around and saw something vanish. "it's just the wind" she told herself, hoping she was correct.
"can i help you" she heard someone say as clear as the water in the fountain she was sitting on. "can i help you" the voice repeated, but as Mrs. Beam looked around for the source of the voice, no one was there. she was truley alone. now she was a bit frightned but decided it wouldn't hurt to answer. "hello? who's there?" she called her voice trembling a bit. "just someone who would like to help you." answered the voice which sounded all to familiar and very very close to her. "may i ask your name?" Mrs. Beam asked her voice catching the wind. "certainly, my name is Kori."
suddenly there was a gust of wind and when Mrs. Beam turned around, there was a little girl about 6 or so standing on the other side of the fountain. "um hello, sorry i didn't see u there. does your mom know where u are?" Mrs. Beam asked curiously for the little girl looked like someone she had known. "i hope so." the girl simply replied. "are you lost?" the voice asked concerned. "no..i.. um.. well, yes. quite frankly i am. won't your mom be looking for you?" Mrs Beam asked now more concerned for the little girls safety than hers. "no don't worry about her. i can help you." the little girl said tugging on her pigtail. "i live near here." the little girl continued. "um i think i do to. i live on the corner of baker and crystal street." Mrs. Beam replied eying the little girl who still looked familiar but couldn't put her finger as to who she was. "i know where that is!" the little girl exclaimed. she started up the street. Mrs. Beam noticed that she walked oddly, more like gliding than walking but dismissed it right away. it was getting darker when they reached the street that Mrs. Beam lived on. right as she stepped down from the curb, she dropped her grocery bag. "let me help you" the little girl said bending over to help."no that's ok, i got it, than..." Mrs Beam began but stopped because for the first time she looked into the little girls eyes. "Karoline?" she said
