• FALLEN

    CHAPTER 1: Reminisce

Young 21 year old Mak stood in the middle of the land repeatedly swinging his sword in his fighting stance, under training in hopes of recovering his confidence from long ago. His 4 in a half foot long sword weighed just enough for him to carry and exercise his muscles simultaneously. Getting stronger for himself to protect anyone that may be close to him in getting in danger of. As he continues his training, his memories with his only family kept him strong and going. Not giving up for any reasoning. There were great times with everyone in the family he thought to himself, however, now, its different. Time passes, old age happens, people leave the world and life goes on almost as if nothing has happened. This is the way this world is, someone is only a memory after life is over. Never to be seen again until it is your turn to pass into the next life. Mak’s father passed away from cancer, his mother only remains alone in the house. Owning a small restaurant in a small quiet town where most of her friends keep her company. At the very least, she is happy with Mak. Mak’s two cousins are Emerald, who is always alone but often at times spends his time with Mak’s second cousin, (Emerald’s brother) Farrell. Mak and Farrell at the past had an experience that keeps them bonded until this very day. Farrell’s side of the family always neglected him for curious reasons that Mak never understood. When they were 15 years old, Farrell was out in the world alone, no one accepted him in the city of Magna. Magna is the largest and most wealthiest city in the world. When Mak heard Farrell had to spend his life in the street world, Mak left his home and stood alongside with Farrell until they found a way to get him up on his feet. Mak’s mother grew worried and scared that something may have happened to Mak, when Mak returned with Farrell, she also refused to let him stay. Mak grew furious and made a choice, not to leave Farrell no matter what. For several months, they lived their lives in the streets and never looked back in the past. One day, Mak’s mother finally found them, begging and crying for Mak to return home, he refused unless she’d let Farrell in as well. She took a quick glance in Farrell’s dark brown eyes, he looked away to avoid eye contact. Finally, she said yes with no conditions. They’ve lived together and trained to together for several years until Farrell managed to find his own small home in Nagaia, the land they live in now. Full of nothing but small towns and areas of markets nearby another side of town called Tenmon. Beyond their further to the North is their old home city Magna. Where nothing but painful and good memories lies. They swore never to go back there again. Mak still did not understand the reason why their family refused to let Farrell stay anywhere. Back then, Farrell had always gave thanks to Mak for what he had done for him. It was then that Farrell looked up to him as a hero, without Mak, He wouldn’t have become the person he is today. Behind Mak, approached Moon. A young 18 year old female who was a former member of the Alliance Military Force. (AM Force). Mak paused his training and faced her in smile.
    “Moon!” Mak said happily.
“Hi!” Moon responded in a smile. Next to her is Twilight, Emerald’s 19 year old girlfriend.
“Twilight, how’s it going?” Mak said in a nod.
    “Good and you?”
“Training my a** off for when the time comes.”
“That’s good. I’m surprise your still with the Alliance. I heard from Moon they treat you like s**t sometimes.” She said in a laugh.
“Well, you just have to be mentally ready, to put it bluntly. Anyway, what brings you two here? Miss me, right?”
“Uh, no…” Moon said in a glare.
“Uh-huh, whatever, I know you love to see me swing that sword like its NO TOMORROW!! OH YEAH!!!” Moon nods in the same glare.
“Knock it off, I was only here to see if Farrell was with you.”
“Huh? I haven’t seen him in months, I thought I told you both that already.”
“Well, you never know, he could have just appeared out of the blue and we don’t even know it.”
“BECAUSE YOU never call us anyway.” Twilight added.
“Wh-what?? I don’t even have your numbers!” He said pulling out his phone from his back pocket. “GAH! Where the hell these numbers came from?!?!”
“Idiot, we never gave you our numbers, we just gave you ours. We called you earlier but you didn’t pick up, not even returned our phone calls!” She continued.
“Meh…” Mak sighed closing his flip phone and returning it to his pocket. “Alright, you don’t have to be over-detailed about this.”
“Anyway,” Moon said. “How’s the Alliance treating you?”
“Good. We’re about to start our next mission.”
    “Another one??” Said Moon.
    “Yup! Kick a** ain’t it?”
    “Uhh…..”
“Why another one? You just had one last week.” Twilight said.
“Well, its more like a to be continued type of thing, ya know?”
Moon and Twilight looked at each other for a moment and looked back at Mak. Mak’s eyes widely opened.
    “WHAT?!”
    “Nothing, go on…?” Moon said.
“Well, anyway, now that I think about it, I never did tell you what was our last assignment.”
    “No, you didn’t.”
“Okay, then. Well, we were suppose to investigate the tremor. The source of the quake shook from one land to another in almost a straight forward line.”
    “Straight forward line?” Twilight said.
“Yeah, meaning it was like, I don’t know, making an earthquake from one side of a line to another. But it was like a forward quake you know? It wasn’t just one large spot, it was from one place to the next, to the next and to the next. We found out that it originally came from a small land south of here.”
“Small land? You mean Olton?” Moon replied. “That land hasn’t even been touched for like, decades now.”
“I think that rumor isn’t true anymore. Something is over there that’s causing the quake to come here. We’ve been quick on this because of Magna.”
“It hasn’t gone that far?” Said Moon. Mak shook his head.
“Nah, if it would have, I think all them tall buildings would have fallen by now, don’t you think?” Moon nodded. “Sarge and the other high ups concluded that the quake is getting further north each try. As if its some sort of weapon… Or something else…”
    “Creepy…” Twilight said.
“Well, in other theories, some say that’s Deth himself.” He continues.
    “Deth??” Twilight repeated.
“Huh?” Moon said in confusion. “What’s that??”
“Yeah, he’s trying to come out or something like that to restore order I guess.”
“But everything is fine, why would he want to return?”
    “Uh, hello???” Moon said again.
“I have no idea. Last time this happened was years and years ago…” Mak Continues unnoticed Moon’s frustration. “But I wasn’t even born at that time. All I heard was there would always be a constant fight between good and evil.”
“HELLOOO?!?!?!?! NICE TO KNOW YOU TWO ARE HAVING A GREAT DAMN CONVERSATION WITHOUT MEEEEE!!!” Moon yells. Mak and Twilight stood quiet staring at Moon. “On to my question, What the hell is Deth?!”
“Um, history? You don’t know your history?”
“I hate history… But this is an exception now TELL ME!!”
“Alright alright,” Mak said. “Deth is like um… Kinda hard to explain what It is… I guess he’s like a violent judge or something…” Moon stared at Mak almost annoyed and more confused…
“Violent judge…? Seriously now…” Moon said. Twilight then interrupts.
“Moon, I guess you could say he’s a form of Angel.”
“HELL NO!” Mak shouted. Twilight closed her eyes.
“Let me finish…” She said opening her eyes again looking at Moon. Mak stood quiet. “Look, he’s not like an Angel Angel, I guess he’s like a nuetral one. He balances everything in this world evenly. No superiors but at the same time, no inferiors either. He’s the reason why everything in this world is balanced. There are no highly powerful warriors nor there are evil beings that could freakin’ destroy a land or something. If there are, he comes and sends them to a world they belong to.”
    “…Interesting…”
“He came like decades ago I think, because there was a war on good and bad. But evil was winning and almost had completely conquered everything. At that time, Deth was free and roamed earth like nothing. He got rid of the evil and the war was over. Never to be seen again.”
“So technically, it is on the good side then.”
“Um, I guess, when it comes to keeping things in order..? I don’t know…”
“Alright, so if a battle happened again but the good guys have more power than the bad and I’m talking about powerful stuff, Deth is suppose to banish that away and make it an even fight???”
“Um….” Twilight looked at Mak. Mak shrugs.
“You have a point… I guess Deth is good after all.” Says Mak. “Never heard of Deth stripping away good power as of yet.”
“One other thing,” Moon said. “You said he roamed the earth like nothing and that he was free or something like that. Why did you say free?”
“Because he’s not here anymore…” Twilight answered.
“What happened to him?” Moons asked. Mak answers her question.
“Well, someone somehow managed to defeat Deth.”
    “Someone?”
“Yeah, or rather something… I don’t know exactly what happened but from what I’m hearing all around lately when I asked for information on that part of history, they said it was a Demon from another realm.” Twilight stares at Mak.
    “What..?” Twilight said.
“Yeah, I said the same thing. Apparently it couldn’t kill Deth though. It only locked him up in some sort of seal somewhere. In doing so, The monster also died.”
“Where do you get your information from?” Twilight said.
“Eh, different places and people. Some people tell me different things, others tell me the same as others. Which is what I’m telling you now. Even Sarge said what I’m telling you now.”
    “Wow…”
“Go on, I want to hear more.” Moon said.
“Well there’s not much else. Deth was locked somewhere and the demon appeared to be the ruler of the 5th realm. As to how it ended up in this world, that remains a big mystery. So now, everyone thinks Deth is gonna come back and restore everything to where it should be.”
“But nothing is happening except for that stupid quake that’s been going on for a while…” Twilight said.
“Maybe that’s the reason right there? The Quake.”
Moon nodded. Mak turns away looking at his sword in his hand. There was nothing but determination running in his mind, courage to take on whatever that may be conflicting the safe homes of the innocent. He squeezed onto his sword in a serious look on his face. “Don’t worry though. As long as I’m here, there ain’t s**t that’ll mess with us. I’ll protect anyone that is in trouble.” He said facing Moon and Twilight. “So if you need me for anything that is threatening you, just call me, alright?” Twilight smiles and nods.
    “Okay.”
“Yeah.” Said Moon in a friendly smile.
“Cool.” The wind blows slightly through their hair and there was nothing but silence.
